Eungoo LEE This piece is Halvorsen’s variations based on the theme of Handel’s harpsichord suite in g minor. But yes technically this piece is Halvorsen’s.

This can be heard on the Star Trek TNG episode Inheritance, when Data and his mother play violin and viola respectively.
As a life long classical music fan I can say that if I had played this without knowing that it was cellos, I would've thought it was a violin and viola. Remarkable job on both parts.

After playing the violin part and switching back to the cello part, it suddenly must feel so easy and relieving.. until two bars before switching back again to play the violin part

Many thanks for posting this inspiring performance. Funny how this piece works so much better with instruments of the same family, here all cellos and the legendary Zuckerman/Perlman with viola/violin. Somehow I dont find the usual violin/cello pairing as compelling. Two violins would probably not do, but this all cello interpretation really is brilliant.
