I think Beatrice IS from oolacile, where you fight the moonlight butterfly is where oolacile was. And seeing what the abyss brought to oolacile, she wanted to prevent the same thing from happening to new londo, where she was killed.
+Ridley On Steroids I agree, plus if you look at the maps (kayin.moe/ovsdrg.png), New Londo could have basically been built on the ruins of Oolacile. Moreso, Elizabeth (the mushroom) sells spells and catalysts. It's possible that she taught some locals with an affinity for magic and that a covenant of witches passed down this knowledge from one generation to another.
For that i might counteract you a bit: Elizabeth sells sorcery, yes, BUT she sells the "defensive" sorcery. Hidden Body, Tranquil Walk Of Peace, so on and so-forth. Do we ever see Beatrice using anything else than soul spears, soul arrows and homing soulmasses? I'd like to know. Also, Beatrice has her own custom made catalyst, that looks similar to the demon catalyst. A giant wooden swirly rod...could she have gone to lost izalith before she died? We find her body right outside of new londo, sure, but near where we find it is a passage to blighttown, that is the ONLY place that leads to Lost Izalith...gives ya something to think about right? Also, those maps are quite interesting, thank you for showing me them :)
Ridley On Steroids There could be a link to Izalith indeed. When I first found the body I got the impression that she must have fallen from Darkwood into the canyon of the drakes. Well, anyway since her set states that "she braved the Abyss but did not live to tell of her ordeal" it seems that she found the iron door shortcut to Firelink Shrine shut and had no strenght left to go further :x As for Oolacile magic and Elizabeth, I suppose that through many generations of witches they developped their own offensive magics similar to the Dragon School. Or simply witches are characters like us, who didn't go to an academy (unless you start as a mage class) but learned those spells from wandering mages from Vinheim like Griggs and Logan, and later took apprentices of their own.
Also, the implication that she never went hollow and that she simply...died...tell us that she might not be undead, but might be either like Gywn and his 4 knights, or like sieglinde, a.k.a human. Also i think of if witches as self taught magicians.
It could be that the crystal knight challenged Seathe, got stabbed with crystals, and decided to leave through the fog door. He may have assumed that you were also attempting to kill Seathe, and wanted to secure the Lord Soul for himself, and then attacks you. Seathe's fog is the only one in which you can also exit thru. Maybe it's not a glitch afterall?
My theory with child Beatrice is very alike to Silver Mont's. She was intended to be a child in Oolacile and upon seeing Artorias attempting to brave the abyss and failing, she started learning magic. She then went to the great hollow attempting to drain some of it's magical power and get her catalyst instead of joining Vinheim dragon school which might not even have existed then. Since blighttown is horrible she took so long to get back out of blighttown she was to late and oolacile had succumbed the abyss. She then went to New Londo to try and banish the abyss from there but she failed. She barely survived the encounter with the four kings but could not make it back to darkroot garden in time so she hollowed in the valley of drakes. That's my theory.
I think this has already been mentioned but I think it's worth mentioning that you can find one of the only two "Soul of a Great Hero" in the chamber where you first encounter Seath! It is most certainly crystal knight's souls!
The kid version of witch beatrice was supposed to be used in the DLC Artorias of the Abyss, but they didnt add her anywhere because i guess they forgot to? Either that or they didnt have time to find a place for her. But yea, I think she was supposed to be a Vendor and a summon... Dusk was just supposed to be the quest giver and transporter, But Kid Beatrice was supposed to sell you Chameleon and all those other spells and catalysts in oolacile, In my opinion she was supposed to help you fight Manus of the abyss, which lead her to believe in the non dlc version of the game, if she beat the Abyss once, she could do it twice. And she went off to fight the four kings, But the abyss' Strength grew and she couldnt handle it, then hobbled through the ruins and the dark wraiths finished her off.
gamadude100 Well, I don't think there's any dialogue recorded for young Beatrice, and her model was in the base game, not the DLC, iirc. Whatever plans they had for her, they must've cut them fairly early on, it seems.
Perhaps the reason Domnhall doesn't inform the player about the Duke's Archives is because he doesn't want to be reminded of the terrible fate of his companion, as throughout the game, his manner of speaking is very lighthearted and friendly, almost as if that's his method of coping with the realization that he doomed his friend to a life of eternal suffering as a Hollow. Although, it could just be that the reason he doesn't tell us about it is due to the fog wall which protects the Duke's Archives, meaning that he couldn't have entered the Duke's Archives in the first place. I heard a theory that perhaps the Crystal Knight could be the hollow form of the craftsman Eidas, who invented the Avelyn (due to similarities between his armor and the crossbow), and perhaps most of the mechanisms the player sees in the Duke's Archives. Maybe he got fed up with his "job" so to speak, or he wanted to stop Seath from committing terrible crimes, such as the capture and imprisonment of the Maidens. (As well as the experimentation on them.) When Eidas went to stop Seath, he was already too late, as Seath had achieved immortality, and Eidas died and went hollow.
That's a very good point actually. He might be trying to blot it from his memory, especially if he saw his pal Crystal Knight (or just... Knight, at that point) get fondled mercilessly by Seath.
I think Beatrice was in Darkroot Garden looking for the divine ember/petrified blacksmith, as she was a child in Oolacile, saw its fall and sought a way of stopping the abyss through divine weaponry. I believe her body is found in Valley of Drakes because when the flood gates are opened her body is washed out.
Theory : Karl wanted to be loved but unfortunately no one summoned him 'cause he's a knight. He is now hollow and forever sleeping at the bottom of the valley of drakes. RIP Karl.
Beatrices catalyst looks similar to the oolacile sorcerers catalysts, I think she was the cause or rather the "catalyst" for the spread of the abyss. She was a part of the original order of ancient oolacile sorcerers (and sorceress) who dug up the Pygmy and saw oolacile succumb to the abyss. Guilt ridden from her sins, she wanted to right her wrongs and sought to end the spread of the abyss. As for her location near the moonlight butterfly, perhaps this is just where you encounter her on her path to sif for the covenant of artorias. I'm not sure why her body is in the valley of the drakes, my guess is that it's symbolic in meaning? Since the abyss is right below the valley and her corpse is on the cliff or the "edge of the abyss". Maybe she stared into the abyss and it stared back and eventually consumed her metaphorically? The timeline in lordran is distorted afterall, she leaves her summon sign before the four kings but perhaps she never actually fought the kings in her timeline.
I think Beatrice was just designed after Schierke from Berserk the manga like a lot of other things Berserk had influence on, nothing much else special. ( Even the four kings could be from Berserk as they're there too!)
I often think that Beatrice is Velka's child. Also on a side note, maybe Beatrice is terrible on the four kings fight because that is where she failed if she was an undead on pilgrimage.
There is also the theory that the Crystal Knight (Also known as the Crystal General), could be Eidas the Weapon Craftsman. Another character we know nothing about, but the Avelyn, one of his creations, has similarities to the decor of the Crystal Knight. The Avelyn is also found in the Duke's Archives.
the witch of izalith did not use pyromancy, she used fire sorcery. pyromancy wasn't created until she tried to re-light the first flame and became the bed of chaos, and even then the kind we know didn't appear until quelana taught humans.
the krystall knight migth be king rendal himself. and domnhall might also be a king. the helmet he's wearing is a referrence to the king of england Henry VIII in 1514 who had exactly the same horend helmet and glases. he was shortsightet so he wore the glases in battle
forgot to say that I think the crystal mnight might be king rendal or a nother noble because of the golden robes. look at his armor, It has more gold on it than king jeremiah. so rendal got to anor londo but lost his ring in sens and went to the dukes archives to lear how to crystalize his armour to get his defensive power back, to whack some more drakes or even seath
I like that you mention the custom armour that was gifted to Henry the 8th. Right when I saw Domhall's armour for the first time, the unique helm is the first thing that came to my mind. Someone told me Miyazaki was enthralled with western history (castles and knights, all that stuff. don't know if it's true though), so perhaps he wanted to make the reference to that time.
***** I saw a vid were they think they found king rendall.. after the blackout in anor londo you get attacked by a human balder knight and a berenike knight both regular human size. Kinda makes sense he got to anor londo into the castle/ cathedral part since you find a silver coin in there with his mugshot on itit.
The Crystal Knight was another chosen undead who was crystallized by either Seath or one of his subordinates after being locked in a cell. If that snakeman hadn't decided to take a nap outside your cell, there would've been two Crystal Knights.
You rock for responding to comments even after 4 years. FYI, the Crystal knight was purported to be 'Eidas' by Hawkshaw. Eidas is mentioned as 'cherishing' Avelyn. I believe he is the Crystal blacksmith, who worked originally worked under the Giant Blacksmith God (Nameless Blacksmith Deity) but is now corrupted by Seath's crystals.
Darkroot Garden on the way to Sif for the ring to traverse the abyss, Valley of the Drakes was one path to New Londo, and New Londo is where the Abyss is and where the Valley leads.
I heard somewhere when I first played the game (I think it may have been from the guide) that he was called the Crystal General which would make you assume that he is a hollowed (or maybe not hollowed) lieutenant of Seath who is either defending Seath or making sure no one disturbs seath as he "works". I am not saying this is definatly true but I just thought it made an interesting point.
It's a reference to Beatrice from the anime Umineko no Naku Koro ni. Beatrice, the golden witch, who is always seen as a golden butterly. She's Rokkenjima's alchemy councilour, and made a deal with Kinzo, offering him 10 tons of gold in exchange of, after his death, everything he made or bought with that gold. That includes his family and all his goods. To fight that, his family will have to solve the Witch's epitaph, left by Beatrice to find where to gold is, and if they find it, Beatrice will have to give up any right on the gold. The fight is between Battler and Beatrice. Cutting it short, Beatrice manages to kill everyone before they solve the epitaph, but the true goal was to make everyone believe in her existence so that she could resurrect. But Battler refuses, and challanges Beatrice to explain all the murders without giving fault to magic OR anyone he cares about. And so, the endless game begins.
Also, I am commenting while watching the video. About the child, that might be Maria, not Beatrice. Maria is Eva's daughter, and she's really fond of Beatrice, dreaming to become a witch one day. She managed to become one in fact, the witch of resurrection, Maria. She's still a child tho.
Beatrice means "traveler, voyager" in latin. I thought it might be a reference to Umineko too, but she also seems to be an alternative incarnation of witch Yulia (as many of DS`s characters are based off of ones from Demon`s). Plus, Umineko's rather obscure. I view it more likely to be just a coincidence, but hey if Paladin Leeroy is truly a reference to Leeroy Jenkins then I suppose it might work.
i juts had a thought while listening to this video, what if the reason the story of the fate of the undead is around is because of our adventures in the past, even though it was kept a secret that we where the ones who saved dusk and stoped the abyss, that doesnt mean that other elements did not leak forward, and eventually some ppl figured out from rumors and word of mouth, the story of the fate of the undead, and about linking the fires, as combined with us showing up plus chester might have put enough fuel to the fire to create such a story
I know I came a year late but in the conceptual art of Beatrice: She had black hair and and black feathers in its catalyst www.google.com.ar/search?q=dark+souls+witch+beatrice&safe=active&source=lnms&tbm=isch&sa=X&ved=0ahUKEwiH_sHgnKXcAhWrtVkKHSt3BUgQ_AUICigB#imgrc=jWGEXyP5EOQ7IM Is not it suspicious?
I think Beatrice was supposed to be a child NPC who has had her home and her ancestor's homes sacked. She is supposed to be found in Fire Link Shrine where you find her crying with the firekeeper because she has no more home. Then after the 1st bell of awakening, she starts to speak about her old home, the forest, where you find a corpse of her dad (seemingly) with the elite knight armor, and her mother, closer to her home (with the moving trees and the green blossom lizards or the wolf ring or maybe her mother made the enchanted ember and was a rogue witch with the forest hunters.) Talking about her old home, she talks of the moonlight butterfly and how it took her home. When you defeat the moonlight butterfly, she gets happy and says that when she grows up she wants to help you on your adventure, then in the future she places her summon sign for you, in the past, to help you on her fight. Then after the 2nd bell of awakening she talks about the spread of the abyss in her Grand Parent's home, New Londo after it took their ancestor's home in Oolacile (notice the dark caster's catalysts). Similar to Darkroot, she wants to help you with your fight, knowing the power of the four kings by her parent's stories. After that fight she starts adventuring and eventually ending up in where she did against the wyverns... A part of me feels like she wasn't undead though, because if she was... wouldn't she have hollowed after everything she had hoped to accomplish was done? That leads me to conclude that not everything in DS was hollowed... Some were just... crazy and some people came to be with their non-hollowed loved ones.
if crystals are connected to the soul as big hat logins says, then maybe Seth who looks things up (using the 6 eyes helmet people) found out how to make people and there souls into crystals .the knight is half way though. The fog gate is the only one you can go back on .so you can save yourself from death but still witness the fact he cannot die. If giving up makes you go hollow ,dying makes you go into a cage ,lets assume the knight does not do that . When caged I think the others crystallise ,their desire to fight also turns their sword into crystal also .This does explain why there is serpents present (still the guards waiting till there crystallisation is complete). why then serpents ?they are at sens fortress also blocking the path to Seth .most likely ,they don't age/care, so have therefore joined Seth's side. I think Seth is able to manipulate crystal somehow (like telepathically/hypnotically ) .he has people with 6 eye holes (most likely symbolic ) but maybe he can use the people as eyes (get into there head and see what they see). he might be a puppeteer to crystal (yes they are the same after you kill him but that is just gaming ) Bonus idea the expanding crystal abyss... So to sum up the knight is most likely trying to stop you turning into a crystal being like all those opponents around you .
I feel like the Grass Crest shield might be from Zena. The patterns on the Crystal Knights gear remind me of the marks on the Grass Crest Shield. Maybe a connection?
what if she heard of the abyss by exploring the ruins of Oolacile where she found her staff which would explain the whole "This ancient catalyst shows signs of being used for age-old sorceries." thing and after hearing about the abyss she decided to try and stop it which would explain why she can be summoned to fight the four kings as for her corpse in the valley of the drakes maybe after defeating the four kings in her own world she left the abyss and tried to go "home" where ever that is but wound up succumbing to the corrosive nature of the abyss and dying in the valley
The Crystal Knight may very well be trying to stop players from fighting Seath, for their own protection. Kind of like how Sif wants to protect you from the Abyss.
Good video man, really interesting stuff that never caught my eye before. I just wanted to add to the idea that Beatrice's child character does look a lot like Schierke from Berserk. You having me realize this resemblance actually gave me the theory that she may have been planned to be involved in Artorias' story. As we all know, Artorias is most definitely somewhat influenced by the character Guts (or more particularly his berserk armor). If we are to believe that Beatrice's unused character model resembles Schierke, wouldn't it also be fair to assume she may have had a role as Artorias' friend in the same fashion that Guts is with Schierke. For those who aren't familiar with the manga, Schierke sort of keeps Guts' humanity in check when he wears the berserk armor. The berserk armor essentially makes Guts go on an insane rampage, killing everything in his path much like the insane Artorias in the DLC. It's fun to think that perhaps the developers had an idea like this in mind when they designed both Artorias and Beatrice. What do you think?
There is a connection there, especially if you consider that we can summon Beatrice against Four Kings - who are fought in the Abyss, same as Manus. Who knows... maybe there was at some point, a quest where Beatrice would help you cure Artorias of his "abyss-crazies" instead of killing him, and you'd have the choice of doing that, or murdering him for his soul.
I'm pretty sure Beatrice's body is simply her body from when she died once before (assuming she's undead) and only appeared after killing the Four Kings because of convoluted timelines and such. I doubt that was the true end of her
Ignoring the possible reference to Berserk, I think the child version of Beatrice would have been seen in Oolacile. As we know, Oolacile takes place in the past and was plagued by the Abyss in the form of Manus and the growing corruption. Mont said he sees Beatrice as learning her magic via her mother, and living in some forest. That is of course speculation, but the fact that we find her in the Darkroot Garden, a place that very much resembles the Royal Wood in numerous places, and when fighting the Four Kings within the Abyss, I believe she may have originated from the Land of Oolacile, or at least nearby. Granted the resemblance between Darkroot Garden and the Royal Wood could simply be coincidental, but given the sheer number of "coincidental" similarities, I (and I'm sure many others) believe they are very likely one and the same place, simply eaten away by time and good old erosion. I'd like to hear what others think of what I've said(typed). Would be interesting to talk about, no?
Beatrice uses similar magic as the dragon-school sorcerers, and as far as we know, there are three types of sorcery: "Soul" sorcery (the main type) "Oolacile / Royal" sorcery such as Dusk teaches, and then "Dark" sorcery. The first kind manipulates the power of the soul, the second manipulates the surroundings and senses (I think) and the last kind manipulates the power of humanity. There's also pyromancy which is similar to sorcery. But at any rate, we only really see Beatrice use the first kind of sorcery, which implies the witches don't know about Oolacile sorceries (lost to time, we only learn them from Dusk) so I do wonder about her origins. I wish she had a slightly extended role to play in the game... it would've been really cool to see a sort of "rivalry" between her and Logan. Perhaps you'd have a choice of handing a powerful soul or artefact to one or the other, for a different reward. Beatrice would give you a "wild" magic, and Logan a more orderly version. Kind of like Demon's Souls with uh... Freke and Yuria?
Silver Mont You make a very valid point. I completely forgot the fact that she uses Soul magic and not the Oolacile magic. I was half aware of it, but wasn't paying attention to my own thoughts. I think I got caught up in the similarities between Beatrice's summon areas, Oolacile's Corruption, Darkroot Garden, and the Royal Wood. I was trying to tie them all together with your perception of her being raised in a forest. Got a bit ahead of myself while contemplating it all. xD
I think like Vivid -- that she originated in Oolacile. Elizabeth (?Mushroom?) makes comment of a rescue-er after you save Dusk... etc, etc and 'return' yourself to centuries old Oolacile. It is my belief that Beatrice became rogue to discover something that might, in the end, save Oolacile - to be the hero the city needed. And in her quest she failed, but like Dusk is trapped (determined?) to help the player finish the task they couldn't complete. (Like many other 'helpful' NPC's in the game) Just a thought!!
Did some digging and found the main difference between Oolacile's magic and modern sorcery is that Oolacile magic is characterized by augmenting the users body or weapons, where as modern sorcery focuses on deal direct damage. Given the relevance of the information I thought it would be nice to share, so i did. :3
Silver Mont While she does use more Soul Magic, it is highly possible that she does in fact originate from Oolacile (due to the character model existing as cut content). She could have noted that their magic did very little in actually stemming the tide of Darkness the Abyss had, and thus escaped with the family heirloom (the staff, which also does share similarities with Oolacile staffs) to learn sorcery more effective against the creatures of said Abyss. As you stated, her name does mean "Traveler/Voyager", so it is also likely that she had either changed her name to hide her connection with Oolacile after its destruction by the Abyss or is merely a coincidental name choice, but had traveled the world looking for more powerful sorcery, perhaps running into Logan (whom is supposed to have died around 400 years prior to the player's journey). It is possible, like most NPCs, that she is also suffering from the Darksign, which would have existed during Oolacile (as they try to harvest the Humanity in the Abyss to satiate the Firelink, thus waking Manus and starting Oolaciles destruction), which would allow her to "live" for hundreds of years, up to Lordran's event timeline. The Royal Garden is in fact Darkroot, as many similarities can be found between the two, including that fact that when you do look up the mountain, you can see Anor Londo's Greatwall. This suggests that since any undead cities don't yet exist, that the curse started in Oolacile, as well, with the torturing of Manus (believed to be the Furtive Pygmy and first of the Human Race, and thus founder of Oolacile betrayed). The timeframe, however, of Oolacile is unknown, and thus it is possible that it existed for few hundred years prior to the curse beginning, allowing the staff's description to be accurate in that it was passed through generations after it's possible use (which the Witches of Izalith are also seen using very similar staffs during the intro to the game) in the Dragon War. This would suggest that even the lords themselves are nothing more than humans, requiring the Dark Souls for their Humanity, as all are representative of Human nature and appearance, just a tad bit larger, which could be a possible side effect of multiple souls being used together (Light and Dark combined). As the Witches all originally resemble Humans, and even Qualana, or the Mysterious Witch if you will, in Blighttown is the same size as Humans and overall appearance suggests she is in fact Human, which means her sisters (and brother, original,) are all Human. If one of them, using the connection of the staff similarities, is in fact an ancestor of Beatrice, it could connect Oolacile to the Demon Ruins, not only through bloodline, but noted architecture in the upper ruins being similar as well. If that is in fact the case, some human's natural ability with fire, specifically Chaos Fire, comes from the ancestors of the original Witches, but human nature through them still requires that given by the Dark Soul that Manus would control. In a conceptual sense, the Life Soul creates fire which allows pyromancers to create fire, but still requiring fuel (which sets the limited number of uses in place as one must refuel the power needed at a bonfire), supported by both how life came from said fire (both human and demon) and that Lost Izalith is full of fire. The Death Soul snuffs out the flame, bringing an end to life and the fire, supported by how in the Tomb of the Giants that light from Fire ceases to have effect and that the area is full of true Undead (not cursed beings). The Light Soul is a beacon of hope in frail time and requires one to have faith in order to uphold its power, showing that adversity can be overcome. This is shown in the intro in that it gave hope in the fire, the light created, that the humans can take over and destroy the dragons. The Dark Soul, the start and end of life, where when one dies with even a fragment of the soul, another is born and multiplied. The intro shows and states this in that Life came from Dark and that all will eventually return to Dark. As a note, it is possible to deduce that the Dark Soul is in fact the strongest of all the souls as it created the Life Soul (creating life itself) and the Death Soul (in that it will eventually take it back) at equal power. The Life Soul, then, since it creates fire which gives light, theoretically created the Light Soul, making it the weakest of the souls. What does this mean? All humans, regardless of who they are, are created by the Dark Soul, and thus is created all. It will also be the end of all, ultimately, once the balance is destroyed. Beatrice, like many others prior, are afraid of the Dark (which symbolizes the unknown beyond what they do know) and thus she made her own strength, learning much sorcery to combat the Dark, to stop the unknown from taking over. Yet, she, like all, are ultimately drawn to the Dark, back towards that which gives them human nature. While Gwyn's loyal 4 may speak as though they are not Humans, this may ultimately be nothing more than a ruse on their side, including the Lords and Goddesses to hide the fact in mind that they are nothing but Humans using the power of the Souls to appear far superior than other Humans, to hide the true power of all Humans. Perhaps Beatrice eventually figured out that Artorias was in fact Human, but without enough faith in himself after seeing the effects of Darkness on other Humans, the power it gave them, that he was on the right side, or that he was really doing the right thing. Thus the Abyss took its toll against him, but since the player believes they are doing the right thing, it doesn't effect them to such an extent. Beatrice would ultimately steal Artorias's power to try to avenge his death and the fall of Oolacile, her home, by defeating the Abyss in New Londo. After the defeat of the Abyss (once again), she dies in the Valley of Drakes, with the knowledge that she has done what she has set out to do, with nothing left to live for, and "passes on" the staff to the next Human whom finds it. Of course, Dark Souls is all just a theory in lore, but hopefully this sheds a bit of light on part of the story or helps find what the true lore is.
i say that the moonlight butterfly is there because of seath kidnapping dusk. cause its the only place in the game where you can find seaths minions other than in his own domain. i think seath wanted dusk for some of his experiments and that's why shes trapped inside the crystal golem.
well the first time I found the crystal knight I thought it was Domhnall that had gone hollow (and crystalized by Seath or something) since he no longer was in the Depths, I didn't found out that he moved under the bridge at Firelink until much later, the connection between the two is possible in my opinion
I know this is an old video, but I wanted to add something to beatrice. Her corpse is in the valley, but there are also 3 others. They were killed by the undead dragon. One was a knight of astora, another corpse by him under the dragon, and a third made it to the gate but found it locked. Two of them drop soul gems, so they must be important. Maybe beatrice was the one to finally kill the dragon before she died from her wounds. The dragon pursuing them makes sense since she fights the moonlight butterfly as a summons. why is she allied with astora? was she escorting them or were they escorting her? what was their mission and who orchestrated their end?
Astora seems to be either the largest of the other lands, or the nearest to Lordran, judging from how many people we find from there. Perhaps Beatrice lived near Astora/in its outlying forests or some such.
my theory is that the moonlight butterfly was there looking for the divine ember because notice where it was the vary top of the broken tower where you find the divine ember possibly seith sent it or the moonlight butterfly escaped and was just attracted by the magic in the ember that's my theory anyway
+skeath36 Assuming the fact that the Crystal caves host several Moonlight butterflies (indicating that it might be their habitat) and the fact that there is real life superstition with crystals and magic, it's more than likely that the Moonlight butterfly did sense the divine ember, as the divine ember is magical in origin. The reason why it attacks you when you walk onto the bridge could be more or less due to wanting to protect it's territory, which so happens to be the same area with the same ember that most likely attracted it to Darkroot garden in the first place.
Maybe Witch Beatrice grew up in oolacile and learned sorceries to protect herself from the darkness and you would have met her in oolacile as a child channeling some sort of bubble, and maybe she would escape and in the future she would be branded undead and seek lordran. Then she probably ventured back to oolacile through the abyss and died going hollow then somehow ended up by the valley of drakes where the drakes killed her (assuming she tried to enter through the four kings' pit)
I believe that maybe, the Crystal Knight was maybe a jester in his young days at the kingdom of Zena, only to be later trusted as a knight. And when he became said knight he carried patterns of his jester uniform. And with the new title as knight, he was sent to go journey to the land of Lordran to go buy from their old best merchant who left the kingdom for new wears and weapons, Domhnall. The Knight bought crystallized weapons from Domhnall to help kill enemies on his way back to Zena. But, the knight over-stayed his welcome in Lordran, and fell to the undead curse, knowing he could never return to Zena. So he ventured around Lordran, only to find himself at the Duke's Archives. He tried to slay the dragon called Seath, to create a legend for himself. Only to be crystallized before his pure hollowing. "Dragon slaying is knighthoods greatest calling." ~Hawkeye Gough
Interesting! I do believe there is a connection between the Crystal Knight and Domhnall (although that is purely speculation and not really backed up by anything in game), so I could see something like that working.
I feel like the Crystal knight has just died so many times that's why his armor became crystallized. I like to think Domhall and him are both from Zena which explains their armour similarities, but the Crystal knight faced off with Seath so many time and got blasted by his Cursing Crystals, his armour simply crystallized. Maybe he was just trying to make us not fight him to protect us, maybe he just went full hollow.
In regards to Beatrice, I think that she was the third keeper of the seal. There were three keepers. Ingward is still there, Yulva left to return to her home of blighttown, and there is an unknown, unnamed third. The keepers were all sorcerers, as they used catalysts. Beatrice, like Yulva, forsook her duty of guarding the seal. Unlike Yulva, though, she didn't return to anywhere, but instead traveled like you mention. Now, the sealers were know as healers, thus the crimson robes they wore. We never see her use any healing magic. Also, we never see her use any unknown or rare spells. You only see her cast spells that common dragon sorcerers would use. However, in the description of her catalyst, it mentions the catalyst shows signs of casting age old sorcery's, and that they were foreign to the dragon schools. Perhaps Beatrice's healing magic is these old sorcery's that we never see in game. Which would further link her as the third Keeper of the seal. Lets go to where she is found. Darkroot, New Londo, and Valley of the drakes. I think that Beatrice was restless, and was not happy with merely guarding the seal. She wanted the Four Kings destroyed. Yulva left to return her healing magic to blighttown, but Beatrice left with a mission. The abyss is no place for ordinary mortals. Beatrice went to Darkroot to find the grave of artorias. Unfortunately, she didn't have the crest of artorias, and instead tries to find away around the seal. After the ease with which she dispatched the butterfly, and recognizing that those without her particular skills could have a tough time, she leaves her summon sign there to help out others (Just like Iron Tarkus did with the Iron Golem). Unable to find a way past to get the Covenant of Artorias, she returns to New Londo, however, when she arrives, she sees that the seal has been broken. The time in Lordran is distorted, and she returns after you have acquired the key and the lordvessel. She rushes down to the four kings and challenges them. Unlike the Moonlight Butterfly, she is not very strong against these foes, and is soon outmatched, both by the kings and by the power of the abyss. Using her ancient knowledge of sorcery though, she is able to escape. She recognizes her defeat, and even with her mighty magic, is succumbing to the power of the abyss. She leaves her sign near the Four Kings, knowing that even though she alone is no match for them, she can still help. That is, afterall, why she left New Londo in the first place, to find a way to defeat the kings. In the last moments of her life, she leaves New Londo, wanting to see the sun one last time, not wanting to be another one of the countless dead in the city, and thus why we find her corpse in the valley of the drakes. At least, thats what I think.
Beat the game three times without even knowing about her. Saw her summon sign once but just walked past it butterfly is easy so I never saw a point in wasting humanity for it
I think the reason Beatrice wanted to travel to the abyss was because Artorias had travelled there.. in the berserk series Guts the main character is followed by a group of people shierke being one of them, and slight spoiler shierke has a little crush on Guts (Artorias).

I was going to say that the father was the dead guy with elite armor and that someone in the family had created the stone guardians So that there was something to protect the family but after the father was killed they protected his body so that no one would take it or loot it or something. but it could be a brother I don't know how to fit in the other body's that you find in to the story yet. It could be servants of the family?
Maybe the crystal knight was at the duke's archives from the beginning, as a the captain of Seath's guard before he went mad and turned his soldiers into crystallized hollows. The question would be if he himself is a hollow under Seath's influence or actually collaborates with him out of his own free will.
Can you do a lore on Rosabeth and the guy who sells boss armors in Majula? I know they're both not important but I see them everyday so I wonder if they have anything important in their story.
I think that the child Beatrice was going to be DLC related. I think she is a child of Oolacile, that would explain why she starts at the garden. Oolacile was consumed by the abyss because Kaathe convinced the people of Oolacile to unearth Manus. Kaathe resides in the Abyss so I think Beatrice was trying to enter the Abyss to kill Kaathe for what he did to Ooclacile.
Beatrice helping us fight the moonlight butterfly in dark root makes a lot more sense if you take the DLC into account. Beatrice was attempting to close the abyss, that's why she helps us fight the 4 kings in the abyss under New Londo. She helps us fight the moonlight butterfly, because it lives in darkroot, which is where Oolicile used to be untill it was swallowed up by the abyss. Both fights take place in the only two areas associated with the abyss.
Stonehead74 Not including the actual abyss itself, of course! But yeah that could make sense. I figured it was just because they wanted to give us a ranged damage NPC to help us out with the butterfly.
Interesting that you relate the Crystal Knight and Domhnall of Zena. If they are related, I think that the Crystal Knight was a tinkerer that made the Avelyn, and Domhnall would have been his partner that would sell his creations. The Crystal Knight probably sought out Seath's Archives to learn how to create more things, but didn't know about Seath's apparent insanity and faced the consequences.
what's so random about the locations? they are linked directly... darkroot basin to valley of drakes where the black knight guards the grass shield and valley of drakes over the bridge to new londo... the witch visits the divine blacksmith for some special equiptment, maybe a ring similar to the ring of artorias, then she goes through the valley of drakes to new londo. she starts whacking the ghosts but since she is not cursed she does no damage to them and she fleas back to the valley of drakes where she dies... when I forgot to curse myself for new londo my actions after getting hit once where running away in panic to heal.
What if they Hydra's in Darkroot and Ash Lake are the manifestations of old dragon scales left behind. Such as the Iron Golem is a creation of the remnants of some Everlasting Dragon maybe those leftover scales manifest into a dragon like being over time? I think Seath saw this occur in Ash Lake (Maybe while he was shopping for some yummy crabs with his buddy the Everlasting Dragon) and attempted to make his own as a buffer in front of the Golem holding Dusk, I mean it cant be a coincidence that the Hydra is holding the Dusk Ring. Maybe that's why its so much weaker to the one in Ash Lake, because its holding a ring that halves health lol.
Jason T I wasnt mocking, haha. I'm not sure if i agree that hydras come from dragon scales instead of just being descendants, but it would make sense in the way that there probably wasnt enough time for a natural evolution, but no one said the current dragonoid creatures are natural :P The ring bit though... I'm just as curious as to why the hydra has the ring in the first place as i am curious about how the heck it supposedly wears it..
i hoped you can see it in this video an yes you can: if you ever noticed while wearing the crystal knight set during some animations you can see the players throat (you can check it´s not part of the armor becouse it changes if you are in hollow or human form) and if you watch closly around 9:30 during the riposte you can see his throat and it doesn´t seem he is actualy hollow (even so the set tells you it was worn by a hollowed knight) maybe it´s just a realy strange hollow skin or it was just a non hollowd base model used by the disigners i don´t know. but i noticed and thought it was strange.
It could also reference umikeno who have a witch called Beatrice since she aids you but also harms the main creature at certain parts in the storylines soooo
Maybe Domhnall and the Crystal General (the Crystal Knight's actual name) had the intention of rekindling the First Flame, so they fight Seath knowing that they need his soul, they were defeated and the General was turned into a partially crystallized monster by nothing more than pure chance, Domhnall runs away from his friend's, who was corrupted by Seath and thus explores Lordran for a way to cure his friend's blight, he meets the protagonist and helps, in hopes that he/she will mention a item or piece of knowledge, so Domhnall gives advice but never mentions the Archives so that the protagonist doesn't hurt the General.
Sawyer Patton Considering that he's got crystals sticking through him and stuff, sometimes I wonder if Seath can "control" people via the crystals. Like the hollow enemies etc. Maybe it makes them stronger and more susceptible to his influence or something.
my initial thought was that Beatrice was an experimentalist, using spells that were untested or in the works. I'd like to think that there is no possible way for her to travel the abyss, since she lacks the covenant. I think she created a spell that has the same effect, but she wasn't prepared for the horrors she met down there. she used homeward (bone?) and barely escaped, but her wounds were too fatal. she crawled from her bonfire to a nice peaceful place to die, where she could pass without being disturbed. the crystal knight however, I've never put much thought into it. the way I see it, it was just another foolish undead who fell victim to seath's experiments with crystal scales who either wandered into the archives by chance or because he thought himself strong enough to fight his way through, or captured by the channelers
It would be very interesting if the Four Kings (or something in the Abyss) had a poison effect. The boss is already a DPS race, so it would've been interesting if you had an actual time limit "Your undead will succumb to the abyss if he doesn't defeat the Four Kings fast enough" type deal, because that would've also worked wonders for Beato's story: She escaped, but the poison of the Abyss remained on her and finished her off, as she didn't defeat the kings, etc. As it is, it still seems likely that she did escape and then collapse from her wounds (or perhaps she was just weak and got beat to death by another nearby enemy)
another likely possibility. but the four kings were annoyingly hard enough. the poison would just add on to that, so I'm kind of glad they cant. ive seriously beaten that boss as the last one simultaneously hit me, and we both died
I like your videos, Keep making them! Just want to add the name Beatrix is also thought to be a version of the Latin Vivatrix which means "Lively (or Vivacious) woman". I'm a name nerd. ^_^;
We find Beatrice in two places: Darkroot and near the abyss. Darkroot is Oolacile in the "future" and Oolacile also is plagued by the abyss. Maybe she's trying to charge into the abyss to fight Manus but, flow of time being convoluted, joins us to fight 4 kings instead?
That's a pretty cool theory, but if he was, then he would've killed Seath 'cos that crossbow is crazy strong! Primordial Crystal? Nope! Doesn't matter if you take a billion damage - speaking of which, I wonder if Seath would actually regenerate if you somehow one shot him in that first battle? I suppose he would, but it'd be fun to see/try. Probably impossible as he has high magic resistance, you'd need to try and get an insanely powerful bow shot on him or something...
i would love to see that. ill need to be soul lv 700+ with a great bow, red tier stone ring, power within, hawk eyes ring, and even gold pine resin with the bow enchanting glitch. but that might one shot him.
Very old video, but still I'd like to add that Beatrice is very useful against the 4 Kings at higher NG+. At that point, The 4 Kings have crazy damage and resistance so they're very tough unless you've spent so many hours playing that you can predict their moveset. Beatrice acts as a distraction, which is already useful, but she also does quite some important damage at higher difficulty. If you act as a distraction, she's more than capable of killing them herself.
to clear this up in case somone didint , there is a child version of beatrice because myiazaki is a huge berserk fan, in berserk there is a char called Schierke which looks identical to the child verson of beatrice, beatrice was inspired by her thats why
Is it just me or does his helmet resemble the masks of the guys from Dark Souls 2? The ones with the white masks that have nothing but 2 holes for eyes.
Time is irrelevant in Lordran, maybe she really wasn't Undead and at some point you could meet her when she was a child. For instance in the DLC when you go back in time.
It is stated that Vinheim Dragonshool is corrupt, which reinforces your theory of her being the daughter of an "unsocial-witch", which lived in the woods. (I liked the pun.)
Domhnall's accent suggests Celtic origin. His greeting phrase "Aye siwmae" has a vague welsh translation meaning "it is good", presumably a form of greeting. The numerous medallions are also vaguely welsh in design. The Crystal knight doesn't really bear any of that Welsh-inspired design, so I don't think he can really be from Zena.
Sorry if I'm wrong, but since his equipment is crystalized; and thus not repairable fighting Seath over and over again would break the lot of his gear. It would seem hollows aren't exactly avid craftsmen from what I can tell, perhaps he is freshly hallowed? That could explain why Domhnall has several intact crystal weapons if he and his 'companion' the crystal knight had recently visited the archives...
Man im so intrigued by Beatrice's story, but the lack of information is important here. "Witch" is a key word as u said in the video; i dont know much about witches, but most of them i believe were magic students that ended up isolated because wanted to know more or didnt agree with the rules or the ways of teaching of their school. Now it's clear, as the description of Beatrice's set says, she didnt learn her magic from the Dragon School of Vinheim. But, lets take a look at her spells: Soul Spear, Homing Soul mass, Great Heavy Soul Arrow; that's advanced magic from the School of Vinheim. Now, his Catalyst says: "shows signs of being used for age-old sorceries. It has passed the hands of many generations to get here". She got it by inheritance most likely. Maybe the owner of the staff was an old rebel that learned his magic from the School of Vinheim? Beatrice doesn't use Oolacile magic nor dark spells from the abyss, nor new spells that could've been develop by some isolated witch; she uses spells from the Dragon School of Vinheim. Now it's clear that she was in Dark Root Garden simply because the Ring of Artorias, as she can make the jump in 4 Kings. But why she was interested in 4 Kings? Another key word maybe, "rogue". Was she interested in the art of Lifedrain? But we saw a blacksmith from Vinheim in New Londo. We can say that there were people from Vinheim in New Londo in the past, that not all of them have died. Maybe some sorceror from Vinheim that was in New Londo managed to escape, went to another land and was considered a witch and so all his relatives, and Beatrice ended up hearing the story of New Londo and thought of doing something about it, and decided to travel to Lordran. Concerning to his death. I dont believe she perished against the 4 Kings, i think she won the battle. But then again, likewise Tarkus, we found their equipment over an area that we would never expect them to die. Come on man, are these brave heros falling off the cliffs after defeating the most terrible abominations? Maybe she was poisoned by that awful dragon in the Valley? I want to believe after defeating 4 Kings, she ventured into Blighttown, and was badly hurt by those poisonous darts and came back to surface to die over that corner. This Witch was a true hero indeed.
Acc ept The idea I got with Beatrice and her witch background is that you have two types of magic-user in the world; ones who are "sanctioned" and went to the Dragon School, ones who are officially known and recognised, and then you have people who use magic naturally, and taught themselves or had it passed down to them - the witches.
Silver Mont Absolutely, but most of the time the magic developed by witches tend to be different to conventional magic, though the basics are the same, the form is not, unless the world of Dark Souls doesn't allow many forms of magic, which would mean any sorceror that has the magic within will always express it through Soul Arrows and period. That would be poor design. However, i overlooked the fact that Homing Soulmass and Soul Spear were developed by Big Hat Logan. U think she has no relation to the people of Vinheim nor Logan?
Could the crystal knight be an adventurer experimented on by Seathe. And Seathe was watching to see the results of his experiment in the first encounter?
Some similarities to the golden endless witch Beatrice from Umineko. The same name, the same nickname Beato, the association with butterflies, inheritance of power from former witches, the abyss where the golden witch summons and revives the dead from... Almost like the Beatrice in the game was some sort of easter egg
I always thought the crystal knight was like seath's knight. It makes sense for a duke to have a knight that fights for him... And for someone as insane as seath to augment his knight with crystal power to make him more efficient.
Hey by any chance can you release those pictures from the thumbnail and beginning from all your Dark Souls Lore videos for wallpapers? (Full HD Resolution)
DoctorProfessor Patrick That is one way to do it, yeah. Although they are still low res (the original files are obviously huge, but I downsize them as youtube thumbnails don't need to be larger than 720p) I think I had a gallery of some of them on the Silver Mont facebook page, but... well, it's something I'll think about doing, for sure. Maybe if I ever make an actual website, that'll be a good place to put them.
considering Schierke from Berserk, Beatrice "following you into the abyss" and how she didnt go to a magic school makes a lot of sense. Artorias is based a lot on Guts, and *spoilah* beatrice helps Guts from being succumed by the darkness of the Berserk armor. And in-game she helps the player in the dark, dark abyss.. But i don't know why she would help you with the butterfly.. Maybe because there was a Moth "boss" in Berserk and the creators wanted to tie the berserk references together a bit. I like to think that her child model was going to be used in Oolacile, where she maybe failed helping Artorias from being corrupted by the darkness.
Maybe at a young age, she tried to brave the abyss, but failed, but there are no records of her surviving, or even dying there, just failed, or perhaps the Beatrice you meant in the Darkmoon wood was just a projection of her like the Emerald Herald, or lastly, this is the next Beatrice to take on the journey the others had failed to finish...
Hey just noticed this but both the sword the armor are both rustic so maybe these things are rather old, so there's a possibility that these things take awhile to turn crystallized. Just another thing but the crystals are coming out the armor so maybe the knight was cursed?
id say she tried to tackle the abyss and caught in the flooding of new londo then released when you opened the gates her body flooded out dont know how she got so far though
"Or is it a reference to Berserk?" Dark Souls lore-crafting troubles in a nutshell.
Pretty much!
i call her beat-rice
I call her Schierke
For that i might counteract you a bit:
Elizabeth sells sorcery, yes, BUT she sells the "defensive" sorcery.
Ridley On Steroids
There could be a link to Izalith indeed.
When I first found the body I got the impression that she must have fallen from Darkwood into the canyon of the drakes. Well, anyway since her set states that "she braved the Abyss but did not live to tell of her ordeal" it seems that she found the iron door shortcut to Firelink Shrine shut and had no strenght left to go further :x
As for Oolacile magic and Elizabeth, I suppose that through many generations of witches they developped their own offensive magics similar to the Dragon School.
It would also explain how she's such a powerful mage
That would be interesting if the Darkwraiths finished her off and then dumped the body. Makes sense to her lack of usefulness in the fight.
I love summoning Leeroy just cause he's a badass
i summon him at the beginning oof every my run to kill peenwheel at starting lvl and have agood head start (15k souls are not bad at lvl 6 or 7)
I would have wanted child Beatrice to be in the game, but having just one child would have raised many more questions, i think.
Why?
@@bungiecrimes7247cuz literally there are no children in lordran during the time we come into the picture
Artorias the Abysswalker It's a shame that Divine Weapons don't really have much impact against the Abyss.
What? Just like Artorias' Greatsword (true) has a holy modifier that does extra damage to dark creatures?
IIRC Divine only does extra damage to skeletons, the Four Kings (but not Manus or humanity) and those blob enemies that shoot out exploding skulls.
that explains it, she looked for the divine ember to fight the four kings
Max Waters that, sir, makes a lot of sense. I like your theory!
Lore video on Karl the knight please.
tou hou Who?
Oh ahaha. I thought I'd made a mistake and called some NPC Karl.
Theory : Karl wanted to be loved but unfortunately no one summoned him 'cause he's a knight. He is now hollow and forever sleeping at the bottom of the valley of drakes. RIP Karl.
Karl why is this moonlight butterfly dead?
Well I stabbed him 37 times in the chest.
Karl that kills bosses
The timeline in lordran is distorted afterall, she leaves her summon sign before the four kings but perhaps she never actually fought the kings in her timeline.
thank you for posting this
Yep favorite summon for me too.
I do the same.
Long life to Beatrice the Witch
responding 4 years later meh does not matter. :)
I have been so disappointed that I missed her in my playthrough for the first few times.
Seath needs to relax, he messed up so many and so much
Darkroot Garden on the way to Sif for the ring to traverse the abyss, Valley of the Drakes was one path to New Londo, and New Londo is where the Abyss is and where the Valley leads.
Maria is not Eva daughter xD
YOU'RE ANSWERING 3 YEARS LATER COME ON
Sefarean Chronology and fairness correlate little.
i juts had a thought while listening to this video, what if the reason the story of the fate of the undead is around is because of our adventures in the past, even though it was kept a secret that we where the ones who saved dusk and stoped the abyss, that doesnt mean that other elements did not leak forward, and eventually some ppl figured out from rumors and word of mouth, the story of the fate of the undead, and about linking the fires, as combined with us showing up plus chester might have put enough fuel to the fire to create such a story
There's a few existing items in the game which states that Velka is a witch as well...
Crescent Blood Moon Wolf dark haired witch, Beatrice is blonde
Yes, but I'm referring to the daughters of Chaos-
Crescent Blood Moon Wolf oh i see
I know I came a year late but in the conceptual art of Beatrice:
She had black hair and and black feathers in its catalyst
www.google.com.ar/search?q=dark+souls+witch+beatrice&safe=active&source=lnms&tbm=isch&sa=X&ved=0ahUKEwiH_sHgnKXcAhWrtVkKHSt3BUgQ_AUICigB#imgrc=jWGEXyP5EOQ7IM
Is not it suspicious?
I think Seth is able to manipulate crystal somehow (like telepathically/hypnotically ) .he has people with 6 eye holes (most likely symbolic ) but maybe he can use the people as eyes (get into there head and see what they see). he might be a puppeteer to crystal (yes they are the same after you kill him but that is just gaming )
Bonus idea the expanding crystal abyss...
So to sum up the knight is most likely trying to stop you turning into a crystal being like all those opponents around you .
It took me seeing her catalyst entry in the wiki to realise she existed.
Beaaaatoricheeee!
Out of all the witches in this series, Beatrice had my favorite robes. I wish they brought it back in DS3.
The child model could have been used as a young ancestor to them
I feel like the Grass Crest shield might be from Zena. The patterns on the Crystal Knights gear remind me of the marks on the Grass Crest Shield. Maybe a connection?
The cyrstal guy is actually called a "Crystal General" in the dark souls game book. Seth made him, he is a general of the crystal guys
Looks like a grown-up Schierke.
what if she heard of the abyss by exploring the ruins of Oolacile where she found her staff which would explain the whole "This ancient catalyst shows signs of being
used for age-old sorceries." thing and after hearing about the abyss she decided to try and stop it which would explain why she can be summoned to fight the four kings as for her corpse in the valley of the drakes maybe after defeating the four kings in her own world she left the abyss and tried to go "home" where ever that is but wound up succumbing to the corrosive nature of the abyss and dying in the valley
Never thought about the crystal set coming from Zena but now that you mentioned it, it totally makes sense.
Thank you Witch Beatrice for helping me!!! C:
Gotta say you are the only one who bothered actually make lore video(or speculation) for witch Beatrice in dark souls. Bravo good sir.
She's a pretty cool cat
(Like many other 'helpful' NPC's in the game)
Just a thought!!
Perhaps Beatrice lived near Astora/in its outlying forests or some such.
child Beatrice could have been for the dlc where you get to meet her
She is soo cute ! I love her magic cloth set
HOLY SHIT YOU MADE THE VIDEO ABOUT THE CRYSTAL KNIGHT!!! AHHH I LOVE YOU SO MUCH!!!
never really thought about her story, thanks :)
my theory is that the moonlight butterfly was there looking for the divine ember because notice where it was the vary top of the broken tower where you find the divine ember possibly seith sent it or the moonlight butterfly escaped and was just attracted by the magic in the ember that's my theory anyway
It would be really cool if the Crystal Knight was a summon for Seath.
The only issue with that theory is that we do meet the 3rd sealer - they're with Lautrec in Anor Londo when you invade him.
Beat the game three times without even knowing about her. Saw her summon sign once but just walked past it butterfly is easy so I never saw a point in wasting humanity for it
She is an easily overlooked character haha, but she adds a nice bit of flavour to things
@@SilverMont rocking her hat right now with the gold threaded black skirt
I think the reason Beatrice wanted to travel to the abyss was because Artorias had travelled there.. in the berserk series Guts the main character is followed by a group of people shierke being one of them, and slight spoiler shierke has a little crush on Guts (Artorias).
She helps you with the moonlight butterfly because she wants the divine ember which is the weakness of the four kings.
Least summoned? I summon her every time. Makes the moonlight butterfly go by so much quicker.
Nicholas Nagawiecki I think a lot of people just up and skip the butterfly altogether, and she's not all that useful for 4K

I was going to say that the father was the dead guy with elite armor and that someone in the family had created the stone guardians
So that there was something to protect the family but after the father was killed they protected his body so that no one would take it or loot it or something. but it could be a brother I don't know how to fit in the other body's that you find in to the story yet. It could be servants of the family?
Maybe the crystal knight was at the duke's archives from the beginning, as a the captain of Seath's guard before he went mad and turned his soldiers into crystallized hollows. The question would be if he himself is a hollow under Seath's influence or actually collaborates with him out of his own free will.
actually the witches of izalith used fire sorcerey
3:13 What about the healing magics of New Londo?
I wonder if people in general knew that Seath existed/was still alive and that he once helped the gods.
Dark moon knightess and four kings
Four kings so we can go over More things about the abyss
Dark moon knightess for one of the less Spotlighted NPC's
what's so random about the locations? they are linked directly... darkroot basin to valley of drakes where the black knight guards the grass shield and valley of drakes over the bridge to new londo... the witch visits the divine blacksmith for some special equiptment, maybe a ring similar to the ring of artorias, then she goes through the valley of drakes to new londo. she starts whacking the ghosts but since she is not cursed she does no damage to them and she fleas back to the valley of drakes where she dies... when I forgot to curse myself for new londo my actions after getting hit once where running away in panic to heal.
That's so genius, I love it!!
"Maybe that's why its so much weaker to the one in Ash Lake, because its holding a ring that halves health lol."
Mind = blown
TheNordawg Cannot tell it you're making fun of me or praising my only piece of decent Dark Souls speculation ;(
Jason T I wasnt mocking, haha. I'm not sure if i agree that hydras come from dragon scales instead of just being descendants, but it would make sense in the way that there probably wasnt enough time for a natural evolution, but no one said the current dragonoid creatures are natural :P
The ring bit though... I'm just as curious as to why the hydra has the ring in the first place as i am curious about how the heck it supposedly wears it..
i hoped you can see it in this video an yes you can: if you ever noticed while wearing the crystal knight set during some animations you can see the players throat (you can check it´s not part of the armor becouse it changes if you are in hollow or human form) and if you watch closly around 9:30 during the riposte you can see his throat and it doesn´t seem he is actualy hollow (even so the set tells you it was worn by a hollowed knight) maybe it´s just a realy strange hollow skin or it was just a non hollowd base model used by the disigners i don´t know. but i noticed and thought it was strange.
meistersam How strange! Thanks for pointing that out, though
That's a very interesting idea, I never thought of Seath controlling the Crystalline Hallows, that would explain why they litter Seath's archives.
my initial thought was that Beatrice was an experimentalist, using spells that were untested or in the works.
I like your videos, Keep making them!
Just want to add the name Beatrix is also thought to be a version of the Latin Vivatrix which means "Lively (or Vivacious) woman". I'm a name nerd. ^_^;
I always thought that the Crystal Knight was Eidas, creator of the Avelyn Crossbow.
Guys Berserk reference lol
Is it just me or does his helmet resemble the masks of the guys from Dark Souls 2? The ones with the white masks that have nothing but 2 holes for eyes.
The Crystal Knight that is.
the weapons we can make with the soul of the moonlight butterfly tell us that the beast was created by Seath the Scaleless.
The Valley of the Drakes (as well as New Londo) have a connection to darkroot... maybe she ventured along that path?
The back story you gave her was the same exact story of the little witch in berserk.(forgot her name)
maybe the kid was going to her a sibling at one point but then scraped
+Stephen La Fountaine It is named Beatrice in game files. I think she was going to really be a kid mage. We will never know T.T
André Renard Magic academies always seem pretty suspicious!
when combined with the xanthos set, the witch cloak makes for some pretty swag fashion souls
True that!
Acc ept Yeah, I think she's unrelated - although could be she's heard of Logan, as he seems to be rather famous.
can you do lore on Karla from dark souls 3?
Yup! I'm just waiting for the second DLC, on the off chance it gives us more to her story.
ok thanks (Karla is the best)
Perhaps he was the only knight to survive the augmentation process?
Silver Mont well... if you consider hollowing out to be surviving...
Hey by any chance can you release those pictures from the thumbnail and beginning from all your Dark Souls Lore videos for wallpapers? (Full HD Resolution)
I could give it a shot! I don't really know where to put 'em though.
I don't know either, maybe devianart, but if you do can you put a link to where we can get it...
Just another thing but the crystals are coming out the armor so maybe the knight was cursed?
id say she tried to tackle the abyss and caught in the flooding of new londo then released when you opened the gates her body flooded out dont know how she got so far though
danielmhfu Ride the waves!
true
Silver Mont or she was wounded by wraiths when the came from the abyss and died leaving new londo
