@@PureCeage21 I’ve never spent IRL cash on TH promotions, I’ve certainly used in-game currency to buy bonds and then spend them on keys but that’s gp, not GBP.

I’m all for cosmetics and customisation when it doesn’t cost 10x as much as my monthly subscription to play the entire game and all its content.

As an ironman I find it kind of irritating when they add cosmetics in a way where ironmen have no way of getting them, like the new wings, we can buy some tokens from TH on the GE for extreme prices but stuff like the new wings from TH we can not

Imo the price of membership is already obscenely high as it is compared to the other sub mmo's out there if you don't have the fortune of having grandfather rates. It should NOT cost you nearly £20 a month as it is just to run a main account and an alt. It would make sense to put the TH cosmetics on solomons at reasonable prices though I imagine if they choose this route they'll do a blizzard and charge like £25 for a full outfit as well as increase mems to £15 a month
I understand not everyone plays every day, but it's most likely that way to force you into getting a 12-month premier package. Membership is only $6.60 a month that way and jagex assumes you'll engage more since you're locked in for a year. Still, I don't play all year and still find premiers value to good to pass up on.

To me, with questions like "Would you play more if it was removed" and "Would you quit if it was removed" this feels like a survey specifically to show shareholders that basically 0 people would disagree on this, whereas a quick scroll of twitter and you can see TH hate without too much problem, so I wouldn't say it's 100% going to be removed just yet, but the stats won't lie on that one
I'd rather pay the same price for membership and let the treasure hunter people pay more. You really don't have to interact with it, just do your 2 free spins a day, enjoy your rewards and ignore it otherwise.

@@superiortorta4208 there's a good chance it will go up more than that, jagex makes a huge amount of money off og TH. People stop playing because of lack of quality content not TH. As I said, TH really doesn't affect you unless you let it.

I'm not a fan of FOMO, especially when gambling & "spend x keys for guaranteed reward" mechanics are added in for good measure. I would spend a good wad of cash for some of those older outfits that I missed out on years ago when I didn't even play. And I'd love for more outfits to be pushed forward for RC.
Honestly everytime i log into rs3 and see there's constantly a new TH promo it makes me want to log off.(I usually do) Its even more depressing when you look at the map and they have a new wont every 3-5 days. They most use so much dev time to spit these out so quickly
Most TH promos are just repeats of previous ones so no real dev time needed
I would genuinely feel bad about myself if I had such a weak mind.
The new promo every other day does feel grimy. Never bought keys and never will so I guess to most extents I'm indifferent regardless

Disagree I would pay 2x sub for MTX free game. Your levels and achivements will shortly won't matter, Not because of P2W but because there will be non existent playerbase that have not quit already.

My problems with MTX are:
- TH lives off of whales
Although I couldn't care less from a high-score perspective, it feels to me that they are milking every last penny from people with a gambling addiction. They probably also knew in advance that this would make people quit, but prioritized the short term gainz over staying a relevant game
- Solomons store cosmetics and such don't have a toggle. I love it that in OSRS you can actually see what someone is wearing (without examine). I also really dislike the 'fantasy' feeling that RS3 comes with nowadays. I honestly think that wings / all those sparkles look stupid
A problem that I have with this survey is that I feel like they deliberately chose short term profits (SOF/TH) over the long term profit (having more active players), and are now asking the ones who stuck around to make up for them getting rid of the short term profits. That doesn't really seem fair, you forced that decision upon us

I liked Yak Track. MTX has never effected me in the 16 years I've been playing. They bring the cosmetic things in TH back now iirc. The Zombie Walk, Assassin walk, etc. was discounted for a while. Besides when a new promo begins, I don't notice it. No pop-ups. I can't understand why it soo disruptive to some people. If they do remove TH, love to see how many people buy stuff MTX they would still have. And to see how expensive membership would increase and not much if any improvement in content. Be careful what you wish for.
It’s not an issue for most of the people complaining. It’s just people are, simply put, WEIRD. They find things to latch on to and complain about. Some people even find comfort in the herd mentality that follows online negative opinions.
It’s not just a RS thing. I see it with SO many things these days. People NEED things to be upset about.

Lootboxes just need removed. That way they have to sell quality products vs shitting out half-baked cosmetics for promotions.
if treasure hunter was removed i would play my main more after some time has passed. nerfing ed3 was a great move for the game.
the people who dont have time to play dont have time to play period. im not going to waste my time playing when i could literally just pay my way up. not worth my time.

TH isn’t really “pay-to-win” it’s more like “pay-to-progress”, spending $10k to max an account (looking at you A Friend), doesn’t help you do 5000% enrage zammy or spend 300+ hours grinding a single item. “Pay-to-win” is more like buying bonds and selling them to buy BIS gear without any work, and yet few people complain about bonds being in the game.
They should definitely keep it, it would be stupid not too cause honestly imo RuneScape is a huge grind and progression is slow at times, treasure hunter makes it slightly more bearable, I don’t mind a long grind, but people have jobs and I don’t agree with removing something that makes progression easier
Basicly the whole survey is take 3 of MTX revamp.
First we got TH cause SoF wasnt rewarding enough, TH is too rewarding but even more predatory.
Take 2 was adding Yak tracks / hero passes. We all know how that evolved and how much backlash we gave on the P2P nature of the necro one we had recently.
Now it seems like they are looking at revamping, updating and expanding Solomon's Store mostly. Kinda trying to make it the MTX hub
I literally couldn't care less about TH. I don't spend any money on it , and other people spending money on it really doesn't affect my game all that much. I'd rather them just keep it as opposed to making membership more expensive, because that DOES affect my game

remove treasure hunter, bring back that battle pass thing runescape use to do. rewards can be controlled bonus exp, lamps, proteans etc. cosmetics are unique per season to a theme. and any levels beyond the pass can maybe result in extra oddoments ??? im just throwing ideas though
I know you did not just reference $5/$10 purchases as a bdo player :) that game is so damned expensive I couldn't keep convincing myself it was worth it anymore despite it being one of the only games I enjoyed as much as RS.
My issue with mtx is simple. It's the spam. I'm not even getting into the vestments skin reuse. That's literally impacting content.
The way it's pushed has turned the game into a mailbox that's riddled with spam for 'pp pills' and 'single ladies in your area'... It's why I sometimes log in and literally X the client because there's a shitty th tutorial open and crap in my inventory.
TH is such a cash cow for Jagex I can't imagine they'd remove it without upping membership subscription prices 50% or more. While TH sucks, you don't have to engage with it, but if they remove it you'll be forced to make up the drop in revenue so while I'd love to see it gone, I don't see how they can do it without one of the following a) dropping their profits substantially or b) upping the price of membership and bonds (again)
its a shame this survey is already ruined by OSRS players iv been in loads of conversations with a lot of them apparently tanking this survey in a obvious negative way(ie strongly liking all the buyables saying they wont play if removed etc) hopefully jagex can sus out the genuine answers, they really should of made it so you have to be logged in to take the survey and can deduce genuine surveys with the amount of RS3 hours logged.
Could also have to do with the sale of jagex. It's possible where the new company is based out of a country that cares more bout the gambling it is

I've probably spent nearly $5,000 USD on the treasure hunter.
Owch that services, as a problem that question is a big red flag. this could mean they want to attempt to go over to a service based model if this gets a lot of positive feedback. look at almost any IT hardware you buy now, most of it has subscriptions... (this doesn't mean a subscription is the only service available)

So this is just pretext to say that this is what the players wanted. So we had to icrease the price of subs.
Path of Exile live of Cosmetic MTX and Stash Tabs and they are flurishing, so I totally think that Jagex can pull of the same things, replacing Stash Tabs with Membership ofc.
Im not sure where i stand on Treasure Hunter.
On the one hand i enjoy the cosmetics, and that i dont have to interact with it if i dont want to.
I also like the Proteans, Lamps and Stars, as they make some grinds more palateable.
What i don't like is that its literally gambling, where despite what i try i can never know if i get what i want, especially if its a super rare item that im chasing.
Similarly it also devalues skill levels and grinds, as now no one knows if someone grinded his way to 99 or just bought thousands of keys.
In the end though Skillgains are a means to an end, and not the end itself, which is PvM content for most and skilling for some.
Replacing mtx with increased monthly sub... not good.
MTX that allows for in game advantages is too much. The game is a heavily GP based game as well so cosmetics that are tradeable give an advantage to someone willing to spend IRL $. Bonds included.
What advantages does levelling an account give someone ?

The survey is a trap! If they don't explain how it would impact mem prices, bonds etc if they take away treasure hunter it's hard to make a vote. Cuz if memes about to go to $20-$25 a month that's crazy. Forced everyone to pay for treasure hunter revenue which before it was just some.
They literally asked the question:
'How much would you be willing to pay extra per month if all MTX were to be removed?'
The whole point of the survey is that they can make some estimations on whether or not it is a viable strategy to remove mtx from the game

i know im gonna get some hate comment and no i dont use th other than my daily key, but i feel like lamp arent that op. yes its free xp, but just coz you are higher level, it doesnt mean you'll be better. best exeple is pvm. give a real pvmer 70 base stats. he will be able to do almost anything in the game. give a semi-new player who bough xp and got 99 combat, he wont be able to do it.

They can just sell xp boosters that give 4x or 5x the xp for 5 hours, and loot enhancers instead of this slot machine we have now for like 25 or 30$.

I would make treasure hunter more cosmetic based. You shouldn’t be able to lamp a skill to max and not once train it. OR make stars and lamps available after “maxing” a specific skill.

Just stop putting so much effort into it. We don’t need a new th promo every 3 days releasing new cosmetics. Put that effort towards Ingame rewards and bring back 1 standard treasure hunter( like squeal of fortune) that doesn’t have new crap every week and no new “rares” (think fish mask and stuff like that).

But you dont have to engage in TH. In fact, it isnt required to play the game... If they remove TH, the game is going to drastically slide down hill because of the whales who wont be spending money on the game. Theres nothing wrong with engaging or not with TH. But just remember, the people willing to spend hundreds on treasure hunter are the people who keep the price of membership down. If Jagex losses that revenue, the game will dive in quality.

only bad thing about TH is randomness, nothing else its a good thing for ppl who can afford some keys time to time to shorten the insane amount of grind a littlebit. not everyone has unlimited time for a game to get skills up to 99/120 now. i always happy to spend some bucks for TH. The reason i like rs3 better than osrs because here i can lvl up faster than an eternity..

If someone buys their way to all 200m skills, that undermines the whole point of playing the game. Additionally, it devalues the work you have put in. The fact that you could get, let’s say, 99 woodcutting without cutting one tree or 99 mining without swinging one pickaxe is unbelievable. However, it is more malicious than that because it is in Jagex’s best interest to balance XP rates based on what makes the most people buy lamps and XP stars, which would logically result in lower XP rates.
Except that's not the case at all. The xp rates for literally every skill in the game has been creeping higher and higher and more and more AFK for years lol
It devalues the experience of the person who bought the skill only. People already do this and it doesnt affect your day at all.
@@calebmangrum8657@calebmangrum8657 xp rates will inevitably climb with time, but the existence of MTX in the form of xp would indicate that these xp rates would not exceed a certain threshold. Take mining, for example. The xp rates are horrible. Most people are not buying xp to train combat skills. They are buying them to train slower skills. To think Jagex does not have a complex algorithm that maps out the correct amount of xp to make a new method that does not cause players to quit or get upset but still lends viability to buying xp is disingenuous.
@@gaveltron It devalues the experience of everybody. If I spend 30 hours getting a skill to 99 and someone spends 5 minutes, then I and most reasonable people feel like they have wasted their time. MMOS thrive off of the idea of personal achievement and being able to show that to other players. If someone can buy a 99 cape, 120 cape, 200m, etc., none of these achievements feel like, well, achievements. So, if you take the lifeblood of an MMO and throw it away, the MMO dies.

Yeah they would take a loss, but would have to monetise in different ways likely. They can't expect people will pay a 20.00 sub. I'd be surprised if they could push the sub up more than 2.00 without losing players.
Treasure hunter is fine imo. The integrity of our achievements are already ruined. Getting rid of treasure hunter now wont reverse that. And making the game more grindy in this day will just lesten the amount of new players.

We at Jagex juat made a really cool soul and aurora dyes which will be the perfect execuse to rebalance the broken Clues rewards"specially elites" or make a major overhaul just like we did couple of years ago OR insted we can just slap it to TH so we can profit of vulnerable spenders theough predatory gambling mechanic😂😂 Same goes for all ability overrides that could've been a cool rewards for in-game boss or some hard pvm challenges but No we just dumb it into TH baby.

Honestly I would just do the survey if that makes people finally stop crying about the "predatory mtx". I am so sick and tired of ppl hating and talking negatively about TH, yes it is gambling but also yes you have the chance to just IGNORE it, it is not like you get any crazy high tier items from it, it is mostly just xp and some random cosmetics you can buy on GE anyways. Also technicly TH is a sub form of gambling yes (it is not gambling per say as you cannot win any money back, that is also why gambling in the real world is so strictly regulated btw.). What I cannot wrap my head around is that you are saying your own game experience is in shambles because you feel like some other people that cannot contain themselfes are doing a bad thing to themselfes by putting money on something that if they only put a 2nd thought back into it isn't even rewarding even if you hit the purple prize every 5th time you spin. If their reason is "I do it for the thrill of it and not the reward" then what would removing do to stop them doing it just somewhere else online or just entering a real casino. Yes removing it from RS would remove THAT possibility for those specific people but it would also take it away from most of the players that just treat it for what it is, which is a daily login bonus and if you do your challenges it is an extended daily login bonus.
How many other MMORPGs have a system in place for a daily login bonus? Yes it is not LABELLED as such in Runescape but if we are honest you could very well see how this makes sense.
You are talking about children and age limits yet their parents are fully held accountable by the law on what their kids consume online and what their spending habits are online. Also children should not have access to online payments as paysafe cards are 18 years of age to purchase same as online banking so that only leaves parental payment as an option. If their kid just takes the card to pay for something online that is not the responsibility of jagex that is the responsibility of the parents. If your kid stole your credit card to buy something on amazon because they really wanted it despite you saying no is that amazons fault?
Also don't tell me I lack emphathy for people that truly have a gambling addiction and a problem with it and are REALLY not able to contain themselfes because of a mental disorder or something (minority). I am strictly talking about the people that cannot contain themselfes but are clear minded and actually know what they are doing (majority) but are still continuing to do it and then later are mad about it on reddit that they didn't get the cosmetic in 2000 spins when they coulda just went on GE and spent 100m to straight up buy it....
And I also have something against people (which you also belong to as you stated in the video) that are excusing their reasonings with the "pay2win" aspect. This statement is just utterly wrong because TH is not pay2win, you cannot win in RS3 the leaderboards are set in stone and only move whenever a new skill is released into the game. You said yourself in the video that you are actually fine with people buying 200m all which I also agree with because it is NOT pay2win, if someone wants to spent X $ to be rank 1500 on the leaderboards be my guest. TH is much more pay2progress because it does in fact NOT give you an unfair advantage over other people in the game. XP rates are so high in modern RS that XP from TH in comparison to the cost does in fact not even matter and also you cannot win some broken op T100 weapon from TH either. The only argument I would let count is the cash prizes on there IF Bonds were not a thing, because Bonds give you much more in game money and thus Bonds are actually much more pay2win than TH.

TH isn't the problem just give people more keys with a pass and make the standard membership package have an xp lamp or something
I think TH is needed. Like it or not. It's what pays for the majority of content in game. Yes membership helps as well, but it's the whales who pay for keys. I've seen what happens when games lose their whales. I don't want to see RS3 go down that road. We need to ignore the reddit nerds who whine about everything Jagex does. If it wasnt for TH, we would be paying more for less. That said, I just don't agree that TH is P2W. Buying xp doesnt make you better than anyone else. I've seen low level pvmers dunk on kill times over maxed accounts. If someone buys xp on TH, it doesn't negatively affect anyone else.

@@mohdawad7339 OSRS has a lot more players, but their revenue stream is staggeringly close, which is very telling of how important treasure hunter is for keeping RS3 alive. Despite having a fraction of the playerbase, it brings in nearly the exact same revenue for Jagex.
