    What's your experience with Yashica lenses? Do you like them? Let me know!

    Had mine for 2 years now, I am keeping it, the pictures are pleasent and it is compact and easy to use, used it on both film and digital, thanks for a nice video!

    Thanks, Marco for a reason based opinion. Reserving judgment until used with film is a very good thought! Thanks

    I have 3 yashica lenses my dad bought in the 80's. I have tried to hold the lens manually over my sony a6000, and even that produces some quite amazing results. Super excited to give them a proper spin when the adapter arrives :D

      Ah, freelensing, haven't seen anyone doing that in a while 🙂 it used to be kind of popular a few years back 😉
      Keep me updated!

      @@MarcoAries I had no clue that was a thing. haha. Gotta look it up. I have the ML 50mm, DSB 28mm and DSB 135. Even a teleconverter, so there will be plenty of awesome things to try out. I did one freelens test that i managed to align ''perfectly'', and the colors is sooooo much better than the sony kit lens. These are actually my first lenses besides the kit lens, which i have used for 4 years or something. I feel its holding me back a bit now. Time to ''upgrade'' Lol. There is always something that bothers me with the colors on the kit lens. Its never ''true to life''. The yashica on the other hand actually seem to have that character. The shots looks real..

    • @MarcoAries
      @MarcoAries  2 года назад

      Well, Sony "fixed" their color science in the last couple years, removing the greenish tint and making it more natural. The Yashicas will indeed feel like a big step up from the kit lens, even just for the faster apertures. Watch out for the focal multiplier, old ones are often quite bad and make the image soft, so don't get hyped up for that 😉

      @@MarcoAries So, I have been taking pictures and videos non stop since i got these lenses working, and i have gotten so much better. Absolutely love it. Its super reliable to get great looking pictures. There are definetely some cons that i am well aware of now, but overall, stunning images!
      Just a few weeks ago I upgraded my camera to a Panasonic Lumix S5. Now, you can also imagine, I thought this would be a good upgrade, and im scratching my head, because the image quality is..... It looks like something is awfully wrong. More noise, More dead pixels.
      I know i am not biased on this. and fairly confident that i have checked every single setting. Compared to my sony a6000, the lumix produces far worse quality, even if it has better dynamic range and subjectively better colors. How is this possible? Lol
      Im about to return it, cause i dont have more time to test it sadly, otherwise i gotta sell it secondhand, but I have tried over and over and over. Its simply not acceptable quality.
      Do you have any thoughts before i return it? I dont know what to make of it.

    • @MarcoAries
      @MarcoAries  2 года назад

      I am not familiar with the S5, so I'm afraid I can't help you with that, but if you don't like the images you are getting, there is absolutely nothing wrong with returning it!

    The video from the lens looked really nice. Nice compact size. I wish more lenses had built in hoods!

    • @MarcoAries
      @MarcoAries  3 года назад

      Yeah, I joke about it, but I do love the built in sun hoods! I still haven't figured out why it's common on 135s but not on any other focal length!

    I have some Yashica lenses but I end up buying CY Carl Zeiss equivalent focal length lenses to use mainly instead.

    • @MarcoAries
      @MarcoAries  2 года назад +1

      Well, the Zeiss line is supposed to be the top of the CY system, I'm not surprised you prefer those 😉

      @@MarcoAries yes Sir 👍. I also did it the other way too in that I bought the Yashica ML 50 mm f1.7 later just to compare it with my already first have Carl Zeiss 50 mm f1.7. But my heart goes towards the CZ lenses first and if I find a bargain price Yashica lens I buy it just for curiosity and for comparisons. 😜

      @brysimm404 Год назад

      @@bingohume7013 I did the same & my Yashica 50mm f1.7 is “almost” as good as my CY Zeiss - but just not quite as sharp. They are a good enough match for video use though.

    Good for portraits in nature, lots of chromatic aberration but with green bubbles in the bokeh it's an interesting look, a 5 bucks lens really nice to use

    • @MarcoAries
      @MarcoAries  3 года назад +1

      Yeah, it costed more like 30€ to me, since I had to have it repaired, but for 15-20€ tops is plenty good 😉
