I’m not a tech person but hubby is. We’re both loving your journey. Not boring at all because we’re seeing what you’re experiencing and you guys are such a perfect match that everything works. We share your highs and lows. Thank you for all the hard work you put in with the filming and editing. Have a wonderful week adventuring and know that everyone is anxiously waiting for your next episode.
As an ex Sainsbury's driver and a Sprinter camper owner your videos appeal on every level and never disappoint. Myself and my wife travel all over europe in our ex police riot van and we too have had our fair share of "engine management light" disaster days but with a code reader and some twiddling and fiddling we've always got home and I'm sure with your perseverance and John's foam packed tool kit you'll be fine. Keep up the great work and safe travels. All the best Si & Ali xx
How you two manage to keep your spirits up with all the van troubles is just amazing. Stunning scenery though. But sadly I have to wait till next Saturday for the next episode.
The most important thing to pack on a trip like this is a Jon, his knowledge of mechanics and his endurance to work out in the cold make him a must pack essential. PS the scenery is great but over coming the mechanical issues is the most interesting for me sat at home in Blighty.
Lets be honest, you were bound to have a breakdown going all that way with John! And the van was at risk too 😂 another great video. Thanks again for making Saturday's special xx
Your videos go by so fast. There isn’t a single boring millisecond in them. I’ve been waiting to see what issues crop up to see how the van has coped and how well matched your preparations are for the conditions, that’s all part of the expedition! Loved it when the snow chains came out! 🎉❤
Its certainly been an adventure for you the last couple of days. It's not been boring Jon, it just proves even with all precautions and all bases covered for a trip like this, things can still go wrong and more than anything, you kept your spirits up and didnt let anything get you down.
What an amazing job you two are doing truly inspirational to watch making the most of life and that’s what it’s all about, can’t get enough of that tool hunting 😂
You two and the possibility of being boring will never happen! You show the reality of van life and travelling in all it’s glory, the good, the bad and the ugly - so don’t change the way or content you film, and allow us to see it, as I think you’ve definitely nailed it ♥️. Although I might have to go back to watching your videos on my own, as straight after watching this weeks my husband felt the need to describe in detail about the engine fault you’d found and what that part does etc etc 😩 😂. Hope you still got to enjoy the Arctic Circle, happy travels and see you next week ❤ Xx
You guys are as mad as a box of frogs on LSD, but you are also such a fantastic couple with adventure running through your veins. You wouldn't get me driving up to the Arctic circle in a million years, but I'm so glad that you have and have shared your adventure with us, and have given us yet another brilliant vlog. Stay safe guys, I want to see you survive this and give us many more adventure vlogs for a long time to come. Your videos of the scenery this time round were absolutely first class.
What do you mean that this week's video was a "bit of a boring one really"? I can assure you that it was far from boring and I spent most of the time wishing that you were my next door neighbours! Having two fun, highly likable people living next door is the best thing ever! Especially if they have a workshed full of tools that I could borrow any time! The house next door is up for sale and since you are already on the continent, just keep driving east until you reach the Japan sea, catch a boat and voila, just like that, you will be in Japan and all you have to do then is a 5 hour drive to the pacific coast and away we go! ....Coming back down to earth and being serious again, I'm glad you got the van fixed and I hope that it doesn't cause you any more trouble. That was an interesting video though! I wasn't joking about that!
Not boring at all, still fabulous drone pictures and lovely words from Jess at the beginning. I'm impressed with how you think through the next steps to resolve the van issues. Bring on Sweden ❤💙
Oh you kids ! Not boring at ALL ! We're riding on your coat tails on this journey and, we will, like you, take the rough with the smooth, forever being thankful we're sat in the warm watching you 😉 I expect at least one " Hurdy burdy scurdy" from Jon (Swiss chef from the Muppets) Onwards and upwards guys 😘
I stumbled on you at the beginning of your build for this trip, I was thinking what are these clowns doing…. You quickly became our Saturday morning ritual. You’re following your dreams and it’s great to follow you overcome everything to have a great adventure. We wish you all the luck.
That blasted egr sensor and valve doesn't like cold weather or high altitude. Had the similar issue climbing to Andorra. Kept going into limp mode. Upgrade the starter coil, solenoid and oil pump also. You then ofcourse you need to remap everything to deal with the different sensor values. The colder it gets the more likely the diesel will struggle and gel. you can mix with petrol 1-2% to help this as a quick fix. An engin bay blanket cover can help if parked up over night also.
My family and I love your channel, you are one of my 12year old daughters favorite channels, thanks for documenting all the mechanical issues you guys are haveing, we have a 2012 VW Crafer Campervan that has done 180,000 miles and watching you guys just getting on with it and fixing the problem is an insparation to us all, its all part of the adventure.
What a little legend!! That’s so sweet thank you. You’re absolutely right it’s just part of the adventure and we always say the bad bits make to good bits that much sweeter! 💙💙💙 all the best for your adventures guys
Nothing in your videos is boring, i love catching up on your adventure over breakfast on a Saturday morning. Stay safe, keep warm and look forward to Sweden
20:16 YES John ,that is a great feeling. I have done everything possible and missed nothing . Sometimes things happen beyond our control .That's why it is an adventure .
Actually, a most excellent watch. The reality of travel. These things happen. How you deal with them is the mark of the man, or indeed, the woman. Top marks, both. I do hope Jess realises how lucky she is having a Masterchef on board, as well as a master mechanic. Privileged, in fact. Well deserving of pancakes for dessert. I was going to say most excellent, again. But this was worthy of a 'truly superb '. Onwards. Safe, and happy travels 👍
EGR Blank Pros: More power, better fuel economy and engine oil will last longer, Cons: Takes longer for the engine to warm up, can't think of anything else. What an epic journey you guys are on.
Your filmography is fantastic and it helps with the beautiful location you are in...echoing other comments, this wasn't boring, people connect with you so enjoy seeing the reality as well as the good times
You guys are totally awesome. Glad the van is playing nice again. The content is marvellous, I'm enjoying every minute. Loving the editing too, you're getting so good at this.
Jess should get sea sick bands (acupuncture for the wrists)), just put them on before any ferry or airplane trip. I use them all them instead on mediaction... work when you need them! (Mine is called Sea Band, comes in pair, one for each wrist)
Wow! You two have the most indomitable spirit! And this certainly wasn't boring.... you guys never are. It may have been for you, but not for us. You make my Saturdays! Stay safe and adventurous.
😂😂 PMSL we’ve only got that because Jons mum got it in her shopping as a substitute and gave it to us because she didn’t want it 😂😂 we’re home brand people normally 😂😂 it was beautiful though 👌
Stunning scenery, we also didn’t know about the arctic circle so thanks for the education lesson 👍. Really glad you got the engine fixed, it’s great when people double over backwards to help you, fingers crossed that’s it now and you can relax and enjoy the rest of your trip. As many others have said, it’s far from boring, this is exactly what we like to watch, it shows it’s not all about nice parkups and views.
Jon should be an ambassador to gettin Biltema to the UK 🤣 Sux to the max that the ol sprinter van is so angery, but happy to see how many fine folks are rdy to help (intermittent faults on every semi modern car suuux) In good or bad times, it is soo nice & genuine for you to show the good times & bad times + how kind us fellow Scandinavians are rdy to help. May your journey be smooth & may you enjoy Norway & Sweden......pssst i know we a smol country..but check out Denmark at some point....cheers 👍
Not at all boring True Blues! Great content. Keep it coming🎉 and well done for shouting out the garages and engineers who worked on your beauty beast mercedes ❤
I think showing the bad bits as well as the good bits is a winner. It’s like looking at influencers without the filter. Thanks and I can’t wait for next week.
You said from the start that you'd be honest about everything van life throws at you. It's good to know what can go wrong as well as the good stuff. Keep up the great work.. still the best YT around
When we were kids and it snowed my dad would always put an old sofa cushion in a heavy duty animal feed plastic bag and we'd use that as a sled. It went like a rocket, compacted the snow brilliantly and we were the envy of the whole village. I've never seen anything like that in sle before until this video! Amazing!
I guess it adds to the adventure….John is just the bloke you need though. I’d have been in full on rage and panic mode if I broke down. Me and the missus would have buried each other in the snow I reckon. Thanks for the video.
Makes the good bits all the sweeter I say 😊 Don’t tell him but I’m very lucky to have him 💙 he might be a royal pain in the but, but he’s very clever, handy and cool under pressure 💙
The cinematography (hope that’s the right word!) of your videos is stunning ! Proper entertainment. Keep ‘em coming please. Good luck with your journey. 👍
I dont care about the adventures and views out of the window, I care about both you guys, you are well, and enjoying the challenge that matters more, don't apologise for being boring, you are not. xx
So after 4 months you knew what you were signing up for....? 🤔 And now 13 years later you are wondering why didnt I take heed..... 🤭 Well were all glad you stuck with it... Wow, thats a compliment from me 😉 And Jon, its a good job she didn't offer them pancakes to the mechanic...😳
After you broke down once, I thought why doesn't Jon have one of those OBD scanners to see where the fault is. Now I see you have got one. With your skills you could save a fortune on a breakdown fixing it yourself. Good job.
Thanks mate, I was asking myself the same question how I never took one with me but I’ve never had any breakdowns on the road really and just didn’t even think, lesson learned for sure 👍
My favourite thing on a Saturday morning..... watching your latest upload and eating breakfast. There was nothing boring about this, why would you even say that? There are enough other channels that white wash their content.... but who wants that? Keeping it real is the best way imo. Nice to see you out of trouble and on your way again. Stay safe, see you next Saturday 🍀🙏💪👍
Thanks too much, we don’t believe in sugar coating things but also don’t want to make a drama out of things 💙 so glad you enjoyed it, thanks for the support means a lot 😀
Thank you for your honest reflection of van life. Looks very unforgiving there but must be epic. I would never cope as have a fear of walking on ice. I have shoe grips which are the best thing when wintry weather strikes. Just pop them over your boots and of you go. Like snow chains for shoes.lol
Thanks for coming along with us 💙 someone mentioned they sell them in lots of shop here so need to check those bad boys out, seen lots of people with shoes that are a bit like running spikes too!
Not boring! Every day is a school day. So glad that you got the van fixed and can continue your adventure. Considering the external temperatures, the inside looks toasty with Jess in her pj’s. Anyway, safe travels, thanks for yet another great episode.
I'm glad you did explain the fault as I was scratching my head wondering what it could be. I was a little surprised when you had the previous fault you didn't have a cheap OBD scanner with you. I know they have their limitations but they're able to read and clear emission related data which is critical. Really enjoyed that episode and I like that fact that with Johns knowledge he's able to explain the issues that arise which adds a lot to the video for mechanical people.
I’ve never had an issue on the road and looking back at it I can’t believe I didn’t carry one myself to be honest, but lesson learned I’ll never not have one again 👍👍👍👍
Your Videos are still enjoyable....not boring at all. I love the scenery,,,thank you for taking us on your journey.... Im watching this from the comfort of my warm bed......got a stinking cold after my trip to Portugal....so feeling sorry for myself.. Roll on next saturday.....for more adventures,,,keep safe and warm..Eileen
Glad to hear your all tucked up Eileen but sorry your feeling under the weather, I hope you had a lovely time away with the family and I’m sure the grandkids kept you on your toes 😁💙
@@truebluetravellers thank you for taking the time to reply....they did keep me busy....which I loved so much. Lots of lovely walks with my daughter Julie and their 2 little puppies." Sushi and Custard" hope the names made you both laugh......look after each other...thank you again...Eileen
Was that a shoutout for me at the end? I had to rewind twice to check. I’m sure it was for another Pete Griffiths. Coincidentally I am under the weather at the moment, so it was welcome. Love your videos. ❤
Hope you’re feeling better soon mate, there’s a few well wishers in the comments too 💙 you’ve got a lovely wife and friend too mate. Sending lots of love 💙
Its the bit just behind that bagde on the front.... bloody Merc's.... z germans didnt make it across Russia could be the first clue.... I owned a sprinter that developed an injector problem... nightmare... just couldnt get it fixed....... sure you have better skills than me.
Your intro B roll and music! You must and should be so proud of the intro! Any Hollywood blockbuster would be proud ❤ As usual an epic episode of top notch content, incredible editing and wonderful company 🙌
I built the kids a steering sledge years ago like that, backpacking skis and conduit with an 8” machinery wheel and bit of flat plastic for the steering - go for it son!
For your sea sickness get pressure point wrist bands, small tight bands that sit two finger width from your wrist, flying sickness, boat sickness. All motion sickness.
My wife feels your pain jess. She hates flying and the first time she flew on a plane was back to the UK with me from Australia. We were sitting on the end of the runway waiting to take off grabbed my hand and looked sick as a dog and once those engines trusted up I spent the next 2 minutes letting her know how fast we were going and asking her if she could feel the thrust of the engine. Glad you didn't get stuck anywhere WD40 oil of the gods that is. Beautiful scenery again look forward to the next one...regards Neil and Maria 😃
I get motion sick on just about anything!! Boats are the worst though!! Poor Maria, I’m with you the plane journey home is brutal!! Good old WD to the rescue! Thanks very much guys 💙
Glad to see the Mercedes garage was able to find the problem. We had similar issues and also had to replace the MAF sensor. This sensor also monitor the air flow when the EGR valve opens and allows exhaust gas to enter the cylinder. Keep on going guys. Love to see your videos.
I find overcoming problems the most interesting. It shows that no matter how much one prepares, the unexpected can happen. That said, on both diesels that I bought, one of the first things I changes were the egr valves. Lots if stop start journeys can do them in and I imagine living as a delivery van has a lot of stoo start. Now its sorted and you do longer journeys I imagine you will have fewer issues. I drove up to Norway and loved the trip.
EGR and MAF issues are typical considering the van’s previous role - in its whole life it will never have stretched its legs as much as it has in the last few months. You might have a few more mechanical shakedown gremlins along the way. If that reader can do it take a look at the ash level in the DPF. You might have noticed that when a 906 does a regeneration that the exhaust note changes a little. Unless you also keep the revs over 2,400 whilst it’s going on, it’s not burning off efficiently. Be very careful on the engine oil specification, Sprinters don’t do well on the wrong stuff.
With the EGR Delete. A remap would do the van wonders. Probably 30 Bhp and 60 lbs ft. Of 90 to 100nm Would make the world of difference. Drivabily and performance with a little fuel saving. If Jon can get that pass Jess... I've done it on all 5 of my previous Mercedes cars.. My misses accepts it the norm now 😂
Certainly wasn’t boring, but I’m a bit nerdy when it comes to auto fault finding, I especially enjoyed your trip around the tools section and you didn’t spend quite enough time on the lathe great bit of kit, but the scenery was pretty decent too, glad to see you’re still in good spirits, really enjoying sharing your journey looking forward to Sweden, take care.
Love the fact you two keep it real…..it helps people to learn instead of just yearn! Had to laugh at the Easy Start, when I was a kid I had a motorbike that had to sprayed with Motor Start almost every mile to get home from work in the rain 🤣🤣 Bloody sensors are a pain the @rs£, don’t know why everything has to have one! That putting the chains on, looked like a scene from a Magic Jon show 😉😉
@@truebluetravellers glad I could make you laugh in amongst your troubles 😊 I honestly think it's a money making scheme, sensors that is not a Magic Jon film 🤣🤣🤣🤣 Although I probably would pay to see that and more of his 'tool lust' face 🤪😂😂
Thank you so much for giving us the real deal. I’m not into the photo shopped version of life. As the others said, people can learn the glass half full/empty lesson from you. You always choose the ability to smile - love you guys
That’s kind of you to say Pauline thank you, we are so lucky to live this life but don’t want to over glamourise it or make it seem like nothing ever goes wrong. We see it that the lows make the highs that much sweeter
Not boring at all. Come hell or high water you two remain positive, upbeat and very entertaining. Hope the van is finally fixed and you can enjoy your travels to the max. Best wishes for your continued adventures and safe travels. Keep up the great work. ❤

Ps, the window vac is epic, I know it’s what people say but, it’s actually improved my life significantly ❤ thank you!
@@Toastybear1glad you like it mate
😂😂😂 Brilliant
I think showing the bad bits as well as the good bits is a winner. It’s like looking at influencers without the filter.
Thanks and I can’t wait for next week.
Cheers mate 👍👍
Your editing is awesome, your lifestyle is even better
😂😂😂 thanks 😁💙
You said from the start that you'd be honest about everything van life throws at you. It's good to know what can go wrong as well as the good stuff. Keep up the great work.. still the best YT around
Thanks so much Terry that’s really kind of you mate
Solution....marry a mechanic 😅. Really enjoying this content guys. Even my better half will watch this RUclips channel.
He comes in handy for sure 😂 oh that’s lovely to hear thanks 💙
Not boring at all - really appreciate knowing the engine fault. Chins up guys, scenery still stunning. Ta.
So glad you enjoyed it 💙 it’s incredibly beautiful isn’t it 🤩
Not Boring at all !! EGR Valve is the bane of our van life 😂
Thanks so much mate, bloody nightmare aren’t they!
Amazing!
What an idea that is, your dad is a legend 👍👌
Aslamoalakum mashallah zabardast ❤ im from Islamabad Pakistan 🇵🇰 ❤
Thanks 😁👍
Thanks Barry 👍👍
I dont care about the adventures and views out of the window, I care about both you guys, you are well, and enjoying the challenge that matters more, don't apologise for being boring, you are not. xx
Thanks very much mate 👍👍
So after 4 months you knew what you were signing up for....? 🤔 And now 13 years later you are wondering why didnt I take heed..... 🤭 Well were all glad you stuck with it... Wow, thats a compliment from me 😉 And Jon, its a good job she didn't offer them pancakes to the mechanic...😳
Why do I feel this video was actually enjoyable for John as he got to play with tools ??? 😂
Just catching up again on your videos on me nights.
😂😂😂😂 I do wonder sometimes weather he enjoys this kind of thing 🤦♀️🤷♀️😂
Jess, you came out of that shop with the biggest 'Tool' 😂😂😂. But you wouldn't swap him for the world ❤
😂😂😂 Brilliant… and accurate. Don’t tell him but not for anything 💙
Sorry for all your troubles this week ,but it good to see all the stories good and bad.👍❤
Thanks Ken 👍
Bought one of those big snow shovels 6 years ago, never had enough snow to use it yet😅
😂😂😂
Aww man the highs and lows in this week's video had the wife and I gripped!
Can't wait for the next video.
Safe travels J & J 👍
That’s so lovely, so glad you enjoyed it 💙 thanks 😊
Not boring! Every day is a school day. So glad that you got the van fixed and can continue your adventure. Considering the external temperatures, the inside looks toasty with Jess in her pj’s. Anyway, safe travels, thanks for yet another great episode.
Thanks mate, toasty 21.5 inside thank god as I think it wouldn’t be too enjoyable otherwise 😁👍👍
Trials and tribulations of van life in cold foreign places.......sometimes this is the info people need. Fingers crossed for a better week 🤞
Thanks mate 👍
Wow.....that's epic 😊❤🙏🙏🙏
Thanks. It’s so beautiful here 🤩
Was that a shoutout for me at the end? I had to rewind twice to check. I’m sure it was for another Pete Griffiths. Coincidentally I am under the weather at the moment, so it was welcome. Love your videos. ❤
Hope you’re feeling better soon mate, there’s a few well wishers in the comments too 💙 you’ve got a lovely wife and friend too mate. Sending lots of love 💙
Glad you got back on the road safely. Fantastic vlog again. Keep up the great work xx
Thank you!! 😊 so grateful to be on the road again 💙
Great music selection and editing! Jess I presume?
Thanks Mark we both do it, but I do tend to do the fiddly bits 😊
Its the bit just behind that bagde on the front.... bloody Merc's.... z germans didnt make it across Russia could be the first clue.... I owned a sprinter that developed an injector problem... nightmare... just couldnt get it fixed....... sure you have better skills than me.
😂😂😂😂 yep hate it when they are like that hey, hopefully it’s all fixed… for now 😂👍
Not boring at all. You cant expect to go on an adventure & not breakdown. Just joys of motoring
Thanks mate 👍👍
Your intro B roll and music! You must and should be so proud of the intro! Any Hollywood blockbuster would be proud ❤
As usual an epic episode of top notch content, incredible editing and wonderful company 🙌
Thanks very much mate 👍👍😁💙
I built the kids a steering sledge years ago like that, backpacking skis and conduit with an 8” machinery wheel and bit of flat plastic for the steering - go for it son!
😂😂😂 legend, bet it was rapid 👌
For your sea sickness get pressure point wrist bands, small tight bands that sit two finger width from your wrist, flying sickness, boat sickness. All motion sickness.
Thanks very much we have just ordered some 👍
Absolutely wonderful, sorry about the car troubles, love your high spirits 👏🏻🥰🇬🇧
Thanks very much 😁👍
I look forward to the new vlog every week 💙
Cheers Lewis 👍👍👍
The ups and downs of van life! Still found the video enjoyable 💙
So glad you enjoyed it, thanks very much 💙
Wow. Amazing how you two keep your spirits up. Don't worry about it not being an interesting episode. We still love seeing your progress. Stay safe.
Thank you so much! We are lucky to have each other. Even if he is a pain in the ass 😂
How does this channel not have a million subscribers?
😂😂💙 because Jon offends everyone every 2 minutes 😂😂 thanks so much mate that’s kind of you to say
It's the side of van life we needed to see. Thanks for much for sharing.
It’s all part of the adventure 💙 thanks so watching 😁
Good luck guys
Do not let technology ruin your travel spirit 💪
Thanks very much 💙
Main thing, the adventure continues and the general is well rested for the week ahead! Have fun in Sweden :)
😂😂😂 absolutely, thanks very much 💙
Glad to see the Mercedes garage was able to find the problem. We had similar issues and also had to replace the MAF sensor. This sensor also monitor the air flow when the EGR valve opens and allows exhaust gas to enter the cylinder.
Keep on going guys. Love to see your videos.
Thanks mate 👍👍
I find overcoming problems the most interesting.
It shows that no matter how much one prepares, the unexpected can happen.
That said, on both diesels that I bought, one of the first things I changes were the egr valves.
Lots if stop start journeys can do them in and I imagine living as a delivery van has a lot of stoo start.
Now its sorted and you do longer journeys I imagine you will have fewer issues.
I drove up to Norway and loved the trip.
Yep so true mate, it’s part of the journey too hey 👍👍
EGR and MAF issues are typical considering the van’s previous role - in its whole life it will never have stretched its legs as much as it has in the last few months. You might have a few more mechanical shakedown gremlins along the way. If that reader can do it take a look at the ash level in the DPF. You might have noticed that when a 906 does a regeneration that the exhaust note changes a little. Unless you also keep the revs over 2,400 whilst it’s going on, it’s not burning off efficiently. Be very careful on the engine oil specification, Sprinters don’t do well on the wrong stuff.
Thanks for the tips mate I’ll check it out 👍
With the EGR Delete. My misses accepts it the norm now 😂
Cheers mate yeah when we got the egr delete the bloke remapped it too so ideal 👌👍
😂😂😂 thanks mate 👍👍
The entertainment is us watching whatever you guys get up to, this wasn’t boring at all you’re both great.
Thanks Sam 👍
Love the fact you two keep it real…..it helps people to learn instead of just yearn! Had to laugh at the Easy Start, when I was a kid I had a motorbike that had to sprayed with Motor Start almost every mile to get home from work in the rain 🤣🤣 Bloody sensors are a pain the @rs£, don’t know why everything has to have one!
That putting the chains on, looked like a scene from a Magic Jon show 😉😉
😂😂😂 Magic Jon show made me belly laugh! Good god don’t give him ideas 😂🤦♀️
That’s such a nice thing to say, thanks 💙 bloody sensors honestly 🤯!
As the others said, people can learn the glass half
full/empty lesson from you.
Thanks so much Steve 💙 we are good at keeping each other calm which always helps, she’s all good now and stoked to be back on the road 😊
One word Jess, Dramamine. 😁
😂😂👍
