Hi Tom! Greetings from Malaysia. Love your works. We have the same coffee setup, but i still learning on how to steam milk properly like you did. The milk you steam, thats a gold standard!
Well, best greetings to Malaysia from Germany! How cool to have reached people from around the world with this video! 🤗 Milk frothing takes a lot of practice, but I am sure you'll get it! Cheers, T
Hi Tom! Your channel is gold. I love it! You're doing an awesome job and giving lots of great advice. Thank you! My cappuccino on the DeLonghi Dedica is getting better. Greetings from Poland!
Tom your videos are great. Because you show us how we can make great espresso and cappuccino without investing in an expensive coffee machine. I have the E680 I think and I have followed your other suggestions. I got the portafilter and the IMS baskets. Got now the niche zero grinder and the results are amazing. So thank you for your help and motivation. Happy brewing.
Hello Tom, how do i make a 7g shot with this Dedica 685 ? Should i use the single basket anyway ? Or look for another basket. I can tamp properly 5-7g in the single basket. There is not enough ground coffee to be regular. Thanks.
Hello, I would like to ask a question. I have the Delonghi dedica ec685 model coffee machine and though the steam production is great it doesn't froth milk. The milk begins to boil in approxiamately in 10 seconds but it doesn't froth. I wanted to ask what you think the problem might be. Thanks in advance for your help.
Hey! When I press the 1 cup button I get a really small amount of Espresso and the the machine only gives out the water for a few seconds. Is it broken or did I do something wrong? :0
Hello Tom, I’m also using a bottomless portafilter with non-pressurised basket but I’m not getting crema like you do, I have the same espresso machine. What I am doing wrong?
@@MuShTaNk Ok, what brand of beans? Many brands sell beans that are already months old. That grinder should be capable of grinding fine enough, I believe.

Hey there, I prefer a 70/30 arabica to robusta blend, somewhat on the dark side. But certainly not dark and oily like starbucks. Thanks for watching! Tom
You can do lighter roasts if you do something like a turbo shot with a long ratio, but it does mean there's less body and it's a bit thinner, like Moka pot or filter
I have the exact machine, but when I push the far left button to start the extraction, it often just drips a bit and does nothing. I then have to push the same far left button 2-3 times before it starts the extraction process fully. Anyone know why it won't start the process after just one button push like it should?
I tryed it many times but everytimes ended up with no good milk to draw and so i get good looking one but more Buble at end but before that so much milk so its not good taste coffee :(. I even wait for when its too hot to handle , put it in milk same like you , use 150-250 ml of milk . Well i usually just drink espresso with teaspoon of honey and put little cold milk to it . But soon i will maybe get bottomless filter and then i will start experimenting with it more .
Hey there! The most important thing is the angle of the milk pitcher to the wand. Try to mimic the angle used in the video, and you should be able to get a whirlpool going. Also, inject enough air in the beginning, otherwise it will be too thin. Cheers!
Hey Tom! I cant wrap my head around this. I see videos of people make Cappuccino and Latte, but to me they both look identical. Is there any difference in preparation, or is it just that people call cappuccino with latte art just latte. Google images will also show you a Latte that looks different from what people on RUclips make with thier machines. What's the difference here, because I feel like im missing out on something
Hey Ahmed, it is best to fill the milk up to the bottom lip of the pitcher spout. Inject more air for cappuccino, to get a more stiff foam, and less air for latte, to get a silkier smoother texture.
Hey Enzo, are you in Italy? I believe I was using Lavazza Espresso here, in the purple bag. I would only suggest them however, if they are less than six weeks old. Otherwise, try to get fresh beans from a local roaster. 🤗
This is a great video. I'm trying to play around with the measurements but I just can't seem to reach 25 seconds before it reaches 30 grams. Any idea what I'm doing wrong?
Hey Sabrina, it really depends on the roast freshness of your beans, and on your grind quality. What beans are you using, and what grinder? How many grams are you packing into your basket?
Hi Tom. I bought the Lavazza super cream beans but the extraction is always bitter and dark. I have the same Dedica and Eureka grinder. Would you tell me what should be the grinder setting for the lavazza (steps from the zero point) ?
Hello there! Yes, your beans are probably too old - or in other words roasted too long ago. Please check out these videos for reference: How to Get Crema: ruclips.net/video/00NSG9459a8/видео.html Why Supermarket Coffee Beans are RUINING your Espresso! ruclips.net/video/5BgMKqu8fJI/видео.html
Step 1: never buy coffee off from big brands like Lavazza and all the other companies. Visit a local roastery and try some good espresso. After that, you will never go back to Lavazza.
Did you read my question? In your video Delonghi started after you pushed/touched a button on the weight scale instead of the body of the machine. How is that possible?
@@edpapapius6780 He is using second hand to push button on Delonghi and at the same time on the weight scale. You can noticed this on other films at his YT channel. 😉
Yes, correct. It depends on your basket size. I can dose up to 14-16 grams in my largest basket, for a double shot. Just look to get double that amount (28-30ml) of espresso, and then nice creamy frothed milk on top. I'd recommend getting a scale.

I would discourage single shots. They are hard to pull off. But you can use the Graef single basket if you want.

It has to do with tip placement. Submerge the tip 1mm into the milk, that should help!

Put it closer to the air. You need to create a little little space between milk and the thing which released the steam.
