Never got tired of listening to Canned Heat, The Bear was one of the best frontman out there. They were raw, spontaneous, and in your face. A LOT OF FUN IN THE 60'S. What happened ? Not much worth talking about these days. Just great to go back and relive what was....sorry for today's crew coming up. Wouldn't trade it for anything ....
Been waiting for this... Let's not forget these guys headlined over just about EVERYBODY in the heyday of psychedelic music. Alan Wilson= genius,Vestine then Mandel both fantastic and what can be said about The Bear???This cat was really the blues. The Mole, from Brooklyn!!, rocking like his head was gonna fall off...Underrated is probably not enough of a word to say just how GREAT these boys were in concert and in promoting the Blues to white hippies back then and bringing exposure to the fathers of the blues who were just starting to get the recognition they deserved as the originators of the art form know as the blues...and DON'T FORGET TO BOOGIE!!!!
Blues at it's best. I was lucky to see Canned Heat in 1971 in my home town of Kirkcaldy at the Raith Ballroom Blind Owl had sadly passed on by then but we had the Bear stomping on stage I was 19 then and it was my first big concert.

@@acewingdabson3139 i hear you loud and clear man. 23 here too and have fallen in the rabbit hole of golden era rock n blues. lonesome is not the right word. it’s a secret we’ve come across this great music in our young age with all the white noise of mainstream media. a secret that holds a special place in every individual’s heart. so let the media feed the general what they want. i know i don’t know how deep the hole goes so i shall continue to explore :)

But, too many greats from that era got involved with drugs that took them away before their music skills were fully realized.
Saw them twice in their prime. They left the crowd stunned with pleasure. These guys kicked ass and were the SHIT!!!! Only 2 or so tunes ever got radio play... so what?.... The Reverend Billy G. Pays tribute to these guys and John Lee Hooker with LaGrange. Meshes their riffs and styles into one hell of a story. Gotta love it.
Luckily, I used to get to see them very often...they were the house band at the Kaleidoscope in Hollywood, where I often worked, they would play before the headliner. I didn't get it at first, but soon I did love it, starting with Sunflower, and a band of all-stars kicking ass. Paul Butterfield played there sometimes, and I got to compare his harp with that of Blind Owl, a lovely thing, the Mole was my favorite bass player in the world, looking like his head would shake right off, a sight to never forget. Bear was outstanding, and put such friendliness and happiness into it, and Fito putting a great beat to it all... I get the feeling that these musicians really listened to each other. so many years later, I try to hide the sadness that I can't just jump in the car and see them again. These recordings help so much to bring it back to my old brain.
