Oh, you can still get cheap motel (not hotel) for less than $100 today. It just depends on how cheap you want to go. 😂😂😂 Reminds me of a motel my family stayed in back in the 70s, I think. The door to the bathroom was just a nail, and there were dirty socks hanging on the shower curtain. 😳
@MidModMeridianASMR When I was homeless as a teenager (in the modern era) I stayed in a $60 motel... stank like cigs, all decor clashed, holes in the walls, and a cold shower haha. Could've been worse though. The price wasn't too bad but the room sure was.
As a 90s kid, I’m a little sad to have missed out on the simplicity of the era but still immensely grateful to be able to have my music streamable from my phone for road trips…and GPS. You have such a soothing and meticulous nature to your service here that I really wish I could’ve experienced first hand from any hotel, whether that’s the 60s or today lol. Everything’s so rushed and insincere, and that’s coming from a current hospitality employee. You have a special knack for this and I really appreciate it, thank you for your contributions to the genre. 🥰

Time traveling is the best way to describe your niche!
This is brilliant! I lived through 3 decades before cell phones…. but it’s hard to imagine life without them. This video is such a great reminder of when my parents had to use AAA maps to take a trip and we had to have brochures to get info on destinations. .No information was at our fingertips, and if we didn’t have something, on paper to guide us, we would have to go blindly and hope we found our way. Your videos are so wonderful….. and your hypnotic voice keeps it very ASMR . Thank you.
You are so right, Gail. This is exactly how my dad did it. We went to the beach every summer and stayed at discount motels. Always used a AAA TripTik. I was totally obsessed with maps back in the day, and when I got old enough, my Dad made me the designated navigator. 🥰✨

My first road trip to Florida (Miami) from Ontario Canada was in 1968 when I was 13. We stayed at the "Bluegrass" Motel. This brings it all back, thank you!
Sometimes when ASMRtists role play, it just feels like they're themselves playing pretend. This scene felt like a real person. I could imagine Mrs Hodge in such detail and it really felt like she existed outside of the little snippet we saw. Masterful.

In the summer of '65 my grandparents had been married for about a year and a half and had my aunt who would've been about 6 months old. My mom wouldn't be born for another 2 years. They were married for 40 years before he passed away from cancer. Thanks for making me think of them and imagining what their summer may have been like 57 years ago. ❤️

This might be one of my favorite ASMR videos of all time. What a lovely relaxing time and lots of natural tingles. I love it so much. The AAA trip guide was a nice surprise. I grew up when we had to buy maps, or then print the Mapquest directions when the internet got a little bigger, so I didn’t even know those trip books were a thing. This is such a great, immersive video with such meticulous attention to detail. Even the retro bottles. Just wow! (Editing to add: I love that you kept the tapping/scratching to a minimum. It felt more natural than the prolonged intentional tapping that so many asmrtists do these days. Natural, normal taps and scrapes produce way more tingles for me than forced sounds so I was happy!)
I have to agree with you on natural tapping versus forced tapping. The more natural, the better as far as I’m concerned. I really enjoy realistic scenarios, just like I experienced as a child. 💚💚💚

Oh this was so fun! I went to college in Boca and later worked in Miami for a few years so spent a lot of time in Ft. Lauderdale. I imagine it was infinitely more pleasant and beautiful back in the 60s than it is now being so built up. I wish I could’ve seen it in a more natural state, I’m sure it was stunning 💕
All those beach towns were soooo different in the 60s and 70s. Family friendly, easy going, two story motels were about as high as you could go. Oh wish I could go back to my childhood every now and then.
Thank you! I just have my childhood memories to go on, but I loved our vacations in those unique motels. 🦩✨ I didn’t know they were “cheap” at the time, maybe because owners also had more pride in their mom and pop businesses. They weren’t just serving as on-site managers for a corporation.

This might be one of my favorite ASMR videos of all time. What a lovely relaxing time and lots of natural tingles. I love it so much. The AAA trip guide was a nice surprise. I grew up when we had to buy maps, or then print the Mapquest directions when the internet got a little bigger, so I didn’t even know those trip books were a thing. This is such a great, immersive video with such meticulous attention to detail. Even the retro bottles. Just wow!
(Editing to add: I love that you kept the tapping/scratching to a minimum. It felt more natural than the prolonged intentional tapping that so many asmrtists do these days. Natural, normal taps and scrapes produce way more tingles for me than forced sounds so I was happy!)
I have to agree with you on natural tapping versus forced tapping. The more natural, the better as far as I’m concerned. I really enjoy realistic scenarios, just like I experienced as a child. 💚💚💚

Oh this was so fun! I went to college in Boca and later worked in Miami for a few years so spent a lot of time in Ft. Lauderdale. I imagine it was infinitely more pleasant and beautiful back in the 60s than it is now being so built up. I wish I could’ve seen it in a more natural state, I’m sure it was stunning 💕
All those beach towns were soooo different in the 60s and 70s. Family friendly, easy going, two story motels were about as high as you could go. Oh wish I could go back to my childhood every now and then.

Thank you! I just have my childhood memories to go on, but I loved our vacations in those unique motels. 🦩✨ I didn’t know they were “cheap” at the time, maybe because owners also had more pride in their mom and pop businesses. They weren’t just serving as on-site managers for a corporation.
