  • This is part one of a 3-part vacation series. This week, we’re at the local AAA Motor Club to pick up a Trip Tik and make motel reservations. What could be next???
    Lots and lots of paper sounds-paper shuffling, crinkly maps, a creaky manual, notebook binders, writing on a clipboard, etc

    Crazy to me people used to plan trips like this! And navigate highways! We didn’t travel when I was a kid. By the time we did, GPS was in popular use. Thanks for showing how it was done.

      I loved my Dad’s Triptiks. Once I was old enough, my Dad let me be the family navigator because of my obsession with maps. It’s so funny to think how recent GPS is. I moved to Chicago for graduate school in the late 80s and was still using maps.

    The map and pencil at the beginning make some amazing sounds, plus those different angles 🤌🏻.
    That typewriter brought back some memories. Even though as a kid my elementary school already had computers, we could not use them frequently because they broke down very quickly, so we still had typing courses. The school had a lot of typewriters for students to use, but most of them didn't work so most of us had to bring our own typewriter to class 😅. I still fondly remember my old portable Olivetti typewriter 🤓

    • @MidModMeridianASMR
      @MidModMeridianASMR  Год назад +6

      Olivetti??! Could you make out that my typewriter is a portable Olivetti? 😃😃😃 PCs weren’t a thing till I was in grad school, so in high school, we used a manual in Typing I and an electric in Typing II. I can type very fast but not without errors. I remember getting a combo electric typewriter/word processor in college. It had exactly one line on the display. 😂😂😂 After you typed the one line and ensured that there were no typos, you’d hit return and the whole line typed out all at once. Thought it was the absolute coolest thing.

    • @SlowDIIV
      @SlowDIIV Год назад +2

      @@MidModMeridianASMRyup, I remember that typewriter, but I remember mine being even more compact and rounder-edged, and green in color. It was a cute machine, I liked it a lot, but I lent it years ago and never got it back 😔
      There were already laptops back then, and a rich kid in my class had one instead of a typewriter. It was a bit unfair, because the lessons involved writing sentences on the paper over and over again, and all he did was write the sentence once, and then copy and paste, obviously he finished much faster than the rest of us with our typewriters. And I don't know if it was because of the novelty that he had a laptop, but it seemed that our teacher turned a blind eye to such an unfair advantage 😂
      The funny thing is that despite knowing about PCs, and even laptops, electric typewriters seemed very cool and futuristic to me at that time, I don't know why 😅

      What a sweet thing to say-both of you. 😌💚 RUclips has its own little logic. In most cases, it takes a long time (and a lot of patience) to grow; in other cases, small channels burst through quickly. To be honest, I’d like to get enough subs to pay for all my props and equipment. If I can get that, I’ll probably do this until I die. 😂☺️

    • @Magnus_Magnusson_702

      @@MidModMeridianASMR Yes and the props you have are unbelievably just so realistic and just so much thought and effort go into them I just can't even imagine how you do it I just am blown away every time I see your videos! You know RUclips and their damn algorithms are just sometimes not fair but you know what eventually when they pick up on the effort and the quality of work that you do you'll get put into one of those algorithms where you get more traffic directed to your channel. You just have to hang in there and deal with it and it'll get better with time. You are something very very special and trust me we all appreciate it very much! Excuse my run on sentences and grammar it's because I use voice typing all the time so that's why it's so terrible lol
