Mid 90s till around 98, 1999 was a year that officially sucked (for me n e way..). The noughties (2000 - 2009) were a blast too, I loved that decade. 2001 was a great year up until you know what 😐
2001 rocked but then 9/11 happened. The summer of 2001 was awesome.
Windows on the World was the #1 restaurant in America. You had to wait 7 months for a Saturday night reservation. The loss of these Towers is like loosing a family member to the world. Bring them back.
How long is the wait these days?
Disconcerting to see those fire exit signs for stairwells that did not lead anyone to safety that fateful morning.
So, those doors, the fire exit doors that lead to the stairwells down. Upon opening those, what would have one seen? besides smoke? Opening that door shown at 2:14, I wonder what anybody trapped up there on WOTW would have seen. Were there any steps, partial staircase that lead down to at least a floor or two before it people must have realised it was blocked?? At the moment they must have realised they were trapped.
I'm left shaking my head as I'm totally overwhelmed by a sense of sadness at the fate people up there met. So so tragic. For those poor souls, there was no escape.

Amazing pictures and video! I wish I could have dined here! One Dine on The Freedom Tower is a far cry from the magnificent Windows on the World in 1 WTC. It's not even night and day how much better Windows on the World was compared to One Dine!
Just can’t even imagine what it must’ve been like after the plane crashed into it
The footage of the first plane hitting the tower gives you the first clue, but you have to really look closely at the top floors. Upon impact, you will see a few explosions where WOTW was. The impact must have caused a natural gas explosion in the kitchen, and the people on that floor may have thought it was that until they saw the 2nd plane hit the other tower.

From what I’ve seen and heard, moments into the first plane hitting the North tower, an explosion occurred at the top of the building and bottom from a pipeline that ran from the kitchen to the basement of the tower as it was severed. Also from an account from a survivor that made it out from an impact affected floor the floor of the very floor he was on began to become extremely hot to the point people had to stand on furniture to avoid the floor, as well as acrid smoke creeping up from the carpet and seals around the floor as well. Many of the occupants of the WOW would of died from smoke inhalation and burns/heat stroke from the temperatures as hot air rises and WOW being the pinnacle of the building before the roof. It would of been the volatile place to be in the building after the impact. God rest they’re souls and never forget.

There are videos of people who DID have weddings. Also every Valentine's Day Windows had free weddings for anyone who wanted one. It was packed and it was free. Nothing is the same without the Towers. Well over a million people s year visited them.

They could have rigged a long rope with all those table clothes and drapes to climb down to safety.
It'd be hot, impossibly hot. Smokey, toxic fumes suffocating you; burning your eyes and sinuses. And impossibly dark. Poor souls would have suffered Fear, horror, terror, pain and A frightening discomfort. Carbon Monoxide poisoning and other elements would have led to confusion! Not to mention the impossible heat.
A few feet off the ground I become terrified! Couldn't imagine hundreds of feet..
