Let’s normalize giving TINA her flowers without mention of her ex ever again.
(you can go watch the movie or better yet read her 1st autobiography, “I, Tina” for that backstory.)
There is so much more to her Life, Legacy, Musicality, Artistry and Talent:
4.1 octaves of raw vocal power that could soulfully delivery just about any genre of music exceptionally. Throughout her career she covered more genres than most of her contemporaries with songs ranging from rock, blues, R&B, pop, country, gospel, and even jazz in her collaboration with Herbie Hancock in 2007.
TINA accomplished many "firsts" for Women and Black people.
Here are a few actual facts about the legendary Artist:
-First Woman to be the cover of the Rolling Stone magazine
-First (and only) woman to have won
Grammys in the 3 most disputed categories: Rock, Pop and RnB. (only Michael Jackson also achieved this feat).
-She won 8 Grammys from 25 nominations. And, also received 3 Grammy Hall of Fame Awards and a Grammy Lifetime Achievement Award
-First (and only) Black woman to be inducted twice in the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame.
-First woman to fill massive sports stadiums on nearly every continent. (North America, South America, Europe, Africa, Asia and Australia)
-First woman to fill the biggest football stadium in the world - the Maracana in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil.
-In January 1988, She set a Guinness World Record for the 'largest paying concert attendance for a solo artist' by performing in front of more than 180,000 people at Maracana Stadium in Rio.
-First woman to break the record of selling more than 1 Million concert tickets in one tour - The 1987/1988 ‘Break Every Rule World Tour’ (4 million+ tickets were sold by the end of that tour, Outselling the Rolling Stones).
AND, She still holds the Guinness World record for selling more concert tickets than any other Solo Performer in History.
She was a pioneer and Originator in “Rock and Roll” music before it ever got that label. Then, She came back to Reclaim that genre for the Black artists who laid its foundation, at a time when the music industry’s gatekeeping of Rock music for white artists was blatant, leaving Rock & Roll predominately white. She ultimately reclaimed it all becoming The Queen of Rock & Roll.
“There's another story that can focus on Her brilliance, rather than her resilience; that can examine her skill rather than her survival; that can make her influence and impact primary and lke and abuse secondary; that can make her genius (and Tina Turner *IS* a genius, *not* an Ike Turner construct) foreground and the grief background. ~Son of Baldwin”

For those who have never been through domestic violence, please don't speak on this. She can talk about her experiences as much as she wants. They just happen to have been a public couple with a private life that no one knew about. Just knowing that people go through something like that, that is something that you never get over. I think what people are missing with the moral of the story is that her story is helping someone out there get out of that situation currently. As things were brought to light about their relationship, Ike had many women and we know this. Don't miss the moral of the story and that is domestic violence is not ok. If people decide to watch the movie or the documentary, listen to the lessons and the moral of the story and learn from it! Some of the comments are unbelievable. Someone said "when is she just going to get over it"? Once again, if you have not been through that type of situation, you don't know the traumatic memories that comes along with it. Some people may appear to be ok but she could just be sitting and something may flash across her mind about that time. I don't think you ever completely get over something like that.

Apparently you have no idea how PTSD works especially in terms of abuse trauma for years! Read up on emotional dysregulation. You don't just forget trauma. It embeds itself in the subconscious. That's like telling war veterans to forget seeing body parts or forget the noise of shells going off. You can tell her what to do but yet you lock your doors and windows at night right? And that's to protect yourself from something that may not ever happen. Imagine every time you're afraid of something else your mind goes back to those traumatic experiences. Imagine how her children feel? No child who loves their mother expects her to deny her feelings just so that YOU could be comfortable. They're grown adults. Let them deal with it.

She doesn't care about how they feel every time she dwells on the past. She has told her story in various profitable ways. Ike is deceased but they still share kin. Tina is being vindictive by always dragging his name through the mud. She should seek therapy since Ike is still heavy on her conscience. I don't believe she has PTSD, she is still resentful that she didn't get the money and property she wanted from the divorce. What more is there to say about her relationship with her sons when they consciously chose to distance themselves from her on their father’s behalf? Micheal, Ike Jr. and Ronnie identified with Ike’s fuckery because they were enchanted with his lifestyle which ultimately led them down a difficult path of drug addiction and jail time (bad fathering). Tina said herself that the only one that tried to protect her during her fights with Ike was Craig. That alone should tell you how misogynistic and weak the rest are. It’s because of Tina that these dust mites were able to enjoy their opulent lifestyle. They’ve had every opportunity to advance and refused. The phone rings both ways and since these trust fund babies continue to collect a check from her every two weeks, it’s too easy to catch a flight to see her if they really wanted to. Which one of these raggedy niggas was on the first flight to Europe to help care for their mother when she became seriously ill? R.I.P. Ike Turner, a pioneer in rock 'n' roll. There is no Tina Turner without Ike Turner. She was born with her natural talent but Ike gave her a platform. He helped a lot of people. Ike and Tina both benefited from each other and Tina still profits off of him to this day. Tina's nightmares are probably from never getting closure. She should see a therapist instead of constantly berating Ike. This is someone she loved at one point and it doesn't seem like she ever got over him.

I'm sorry but she never got over it?!! What makes you an expert on domestic violence or the media?!!! She worked her ass off AFTER Ike & Tina split to find her own success that the MEDIA kept pretty much kept bringing up her past. She didn't want to keep talking about it. The media did. She wanted to close the wound and let it heal YEARS after she and Ike were divorced but the MEDIA would not let her. So how are you going to say she never got over him? She had moved on and was living her life happily in Europe with Erwin but after the 1993 movie, even BEFORE the movie, the media would NOT let her have the closure, the healing she needed. So she didn't berate Ike, the media kept that wound open and didn't allow it to heal. The media destroyed Ike's reputation, not Tina. Tina did what she had to do so she could find peace, the media wouldn't let her. Educate yourself before you judge and say things.

You can’t stand her, yet you’re on every video reiterating the same tired crap about her. She was smart enough to level up while Ike allowed for his his narrow minded musical style and drug habit to destroy him and that’s what you’re mad at. In your warped mind, black women should feel obliged to wallow in undesirable situations for the sake of remaining loyal to their “kangs.” Fuck that. Ike gave her a platform in exchange for 16 years of her life- her debt to him is paid.

Ike used her and abused her. She had raw talent that she could have succeeded with someone else. Ike saw she was a trauma victim and used it to his advantage just like a predator would. No accolades in the music industry are worth trauma and abuse of an individual.

@@TheQueenIsWithin Tina Turner is a name and stage persona Ike Turner made up. She was executing his vision. He can't take credit for her natural talent but not all talented people get discovered. Tina was calculating and used Ike to her advantage. He used her as well. As I said, they both benefited from each other. Ike experienced his own trauma during his childhood. Tina wasn't a victim, she doesn't take accountability for her own actions. Judge Joe Brown said he witnessed her rage and violence towards Ike. That side of Tina isn't publicized because it doesn't fit her narrative. Tina never even started talking about abuse until she wanted to change her image for the sake of her career.
