An interview with Tina Turner on the Australian television show A Current Affair in 1993. Tina is talking about her new tour and the movie What's Love Got To Do With It? based on her autobiography. During the interview, Tina is confronted with previously taped interview segments with her ex-husband Ike Turner via satellite, which makes it a very uncomfortable atmosphere. Видеоклипы
I love how she's so cool and so calm. Such a positive light. I love that she's smiling the whole interview. There is no bitterness, no anger, no ill-will. Such a class. She is THE BEST.
i agree!!!
Amen, absolutely love her.
Laurence fishburne played him perfectly
Wesley Snipes would have made a good Ike Turner too
Voice and everything
No it did not
Laurence Fishburne played his part perfectly. Talked just like him
4:40 “I have nothing to say” !!! I LOVE HER RESPONSE!!!!
I’ve been in an abusive relationship and baby when you heal it’s as though it never happened until it’s brought up or you’re around it. Trust she was healed and it shows
He HARPED on the violence, but she remained so calm. What a class act, so professional. I love that she found GLOBAL success and real happiness and comfort 🤩
She is lying! She knew nobody would believe him
Tina Turner is an amazing person.
I am so happy for the woman she became today. She finally got some happiness.
Tina's attitude and perseverance is something I look up to!
Tina, I must say you are the perfect example of a strong woman and no one can say you lack energy.
What a beautiful and CLASSY woman Tina Turner is. Ike Turner lost a diamond. She was able to rise above his abuse! She is such an inspiration. She certainly motivates me.
The look on her face is key to how much pain that man caused her...it's a no brainer. She was treated horribly by her own, which included her own mother, her husband, disrespectful co-workers, US consumers....Anyone would choose to be treated like a goddess over being treated like dirt. I don't blame her for choosing happiness.
I love this comment her mother was ridiculous too
😇
@Ellie5621 True. Her early life was pitiful in some ways...abandonment leaves scars.
@@TheJamiebaby15 her Mother Was A bitch
@Ellie5621she wasn't treated bad her own people,, she abandon them for success, and of course Europeans like tina. because they are already obsessed with black American music''
Tina responded so classy and calm despite of Ike's inflammatory comments. She is great.
She didn’t give into the mess they was trying to start with her I ABSOLUTELY LOVE IT ❤️
She is so much more genuine and professional than her ex. She is extremely smart as well. She knows what to say and when to say it. That’s why she’s became successful in life.
She had a flashback from 4:21 - 4:23. Her face scared me. Damn
I think she looked that way bc of ike saying their life was a lie, to her at the time it wasnt a lie she did love him in the beginning.
It always boggles my mind when an abuser somehow thinks their abuse was worth it because the abused person became stronger or successful through pain. Sick mind.
he wasn't an abuser, they fought, tina just doesn't get along with him
@@bobbyschannel349 nigga what are you talking about
I think a lot of abusers have been abused themselves and see it as what “toughened them up”. I also think it’s really difficult to see yourself as a monster so mental gymnastics
@@bobbyschannel349 you have along way to go
@@bobbyschannel349yikes.
For you to claim, as if you know (especially against the person who experienced it) that you somehow know more, know better...is a god complex.
No. You merely know what your mind tells you, based on your own biases, cognitive distortions, filters, that create a narrative, a story.
Basically, reality doesn't matter, because you fill-in the blanks with your own subconscious creation.
To say that you know, when you don't, is arrogant and ignorant.
For you to dismiss and minimize abuse, is concerning to the highest level. It means either and/or you were abused and abuse others.
Please heal yourself. Anyone who defends abuse is harboring shame and other core wounds, which are the foundation for all thought distortions...see, above.
That is nonsense when Ike said that there were better singers than Tina who sang and looked better. He knew Tina was the total package. She had the skill to really help put him over the top and become successful. Even Janis Joplin said Tina Turner was her favorite performer. I do believe Ike gave Tina the opportunities she never would have had otherwise.
She paid the price!
he was surrounded better singers, you don't know the whole story your just a fan of tina..
@@bobbyschannel349 Ike wouldn’t be nothing without Tina Turner. RIP Tina Turner ❤
@@jeremymoore145 You mean T8na wouldn't be nothing about Ike. She evn said so

myeyesinside out ikr
Hillarious but she was classy
RamajX I seriously thought she was gonna be sick
she had flashbacks of his abuse
6:32 Tina was like nigga if we weren't on tv I swear for God!!!
Laurence played the hell out of him. Down to the stuffer 😂😂.
I have to say he's a mess still to this day. That's if he's still kicking. 🤮

@@robindore9582 Lmao shows how much you cared about old Ike 😂 Been gone for 15 years.
Tina was so classy and calm. The reporter kept trying to be messy.
I think that she was more surprised more than about to cry. But, actually when I saw her face she looked so young right there almost like a little girl
The only thing Ike did right was giving us Tina. I was stuck for 25 years with a s.o.b like that & this sounds like him. I look up to her, she is a wonderful classy lady. Tina is the Queen of rock.
he gave us more then tina,, he gave rock and roll sweetheart, and you don't know the whole story
This is a great interview. She did not shy away from any question. Good for her!
Drugs ate up his brain. He couldn t say a single sentence without a a a a.... and those staring eyes.
Rest in peace, dear Tina 💔
If you look at Tina in the many clips available when she was with Ike.. you can see the same body language and facial and verbal cues that you see in all battered women.Freed from that physical and psychological oppression, and living to please herself.. you can simply see the difference as she has bloomed. What a long hard road.
I think she was battered woman I think they fought.. the stories that I heard from people who were around back then say that she and ike fought a lot
and that's what you see, that's not what I see.
@@bobbyschannel349 You think it's normal a man fighting with a woman !!??
Tina was the bread and butter, that’s why he tried so hard to control her and keep her on such a leash. So happy those circumstances never held her back emotionally.
Yall know when he said that there were other women who sang better and performed better, I would really like to meet those women and see them perform because if they are better than Tina Turner, they must be diamonds in a ruff.
Its clear Ike had no publicist or a good one. His interview was a hot mess. He basically admitted to abusing her and being mean. All his interview portions were ridiculous.
And this ladies and gentlemen this is why Ike Turner always let Tina do all the talking in every interview!!! 🙄 what the hell is he blabbering about??! I slapped her around because she was walking around depressed!! Helloooo she was depressed because he was abusive plain&simple...mentally, physically, emotionally..he broke her all the way down but like a Fenix rose from the ashes and the rest is history!
I'm white and I love Tina Turner. To me she's a queen of rock. I do wonder what black people thought of her (from Ikes comments). I think Tina's right, white people loved her. We didn't see her as black or white, we just loved her. just my opinion
I LOVE you tina........... I dont care what bitches want to say about you. YOU ARE THE BEST.
I love u so much ,Ms.Turner and u think god everyday of my life for leaving my ex husband,we leave that same life and it was so ,so,sad for me and my kids, and thank you again,Ms.Turner and i'm doing your songs to and that's from my heart love u and thank u my heaven father,oh as you get older u get wiser.😊
Tina Turner is absolutely amazing go girl I'm proud of you he don't know what he lost hate your ex-husband he lost a wonderful woman
To have the power, to Forgive, is power ,she's amazing. #TeamTinaTurner
I hate that she was put into a position of being maligned by that man. She didn't deserve that and still doesn't. He's the hurt of long, long ago. He doesn't matter. Tina has rose above all the pain and has excelled at all she does. No wonder so many admire this lady.
true
you don't know her the stories I've heard was she was just as hostile as he was that was the kind of relationship they had.
@@bobbyschannel349 Geez look at you, replying in the same way to so many comments... "You don't know the story" you say to everybody but then WHAT THE HECK DO YOU KNOW? "I've heard..." - this means nothing. You are absolutely NOBODY in these people's life.
This interviewer is literally re-traumatising her on live tv by playing her clips of her abuser and getting her to respond 😡 we are a sick society
Who is he the interviwer what a bad person he is she went through a lot and he do this.
I noticed some of those expressions of disgust or sadness on her face after Ike’s clips like she needed a second to compose herself each time.
This was awesome of her to respond regarding catering to the market who supports her. Many people expect their people to support their craft/business when it may be success elsewhere.
I accidentally clicked on this. Hope it doesn't count as a view. He denies his abusiveness, and talks about her not having physical scars: my father new how to beat me nearly to death w/ o any external scars!!!!
This Ike ...person tells us there were better looking, more talented people, but she's clearly world renown for TALENT, BEAUTY, EXCELLENCE, AND FOREVER WILL BE, PRIMARILY KNOWN FOR THIS AFTER SHE LEFT IKE, THOUGH SHE WAS EQUALLY TALENTED AND BEAUTIFUL EARLIER IN LIFE, TOO.
Just look at the trajectory of her career and the trajectory of his after they split for good. He tried to ground a shooting star. He was still mad that she got away from him. He thought he had beaten her when she walked away from their divorce with just her name. If he'd had any class, he'd have offered her SOMETHING after 16 years of marrige and working together in the music industry, but he wanted to see her fall flat on her keister without him. That shows you right there that he had no appreciation for who she was as an artist. Not only did she not fail! She took off like a rocket!
@@anniebrooks7908 NO! you don't know what you're talking about,
number one, anna Mae was not a victim, she was as tough as Ike, and it wasn't an abusive relationship, it was a violent one... she fought him... she wasn't battered. she was very sneaky and conniving. you don't the whole story.. she didn't ask for money because Ike didn't have any, he was broke because he owed taxes. and the IRS a lot of money, and if tina would had ask for money she would had take on that burden.. Ike made her, she pursued the hell out of Ike in the beginning. even when Ike wasn't interested..
He was clean????
He died of an overdose of cocaine being more than 80 years old...
He was a bag of lies all over. Talented (no discussion), but he needed someone else to shine all the time because he didn't have enough light on his own. He was a good trainer for a naturally talented Tina Turner.
Yes he did try to give up drugs and alcohol over and over again but sadly the talented musician died at the age of 76 years old of a drug overdose at his home in San Marcos California U.S.A 2007.I'm friend's with his only daughter Mia on Facebook and alot of Tina's family.Tina and Ike both had childhood problems it's sad how violence came into there lovely/rare and fantastic careers as the 'IKE AND TINA TURNER REVUE' it happens the world over to other's but life must go on...............

She's really past it.

Tina Is A Legend
Her face after she showed her the clip she was really disgusted with that man and I don’t blame her
She should've left. That was so sleazy.
He thought they were prettier more talented singer than Tina this man is out of his mind.u can tell who’s lying & who’s telling the truth he stutters all the way thru um um um like shit up ur lying thru ur teeth then Tina completely in control & is able tell her story & not be upset cause she left 16 years prior & yeah he might have introduced her to the scene but Tina became super famous on her own & he didn’t become anything now ike tell us who the star really was it was tine Turner simply the best!!!!
Listening that that quack, Ike, I realize he was a very troubled person. Very selfish and a scary man. I'm so happy Tina found Erwin. He took great care of her and in interviews he seemed a respectful, intelligent man.
That gives the meaning of I don't wanna fight
Take a hike, Ike!!! Cause Tina is no longer a fool in love with you
Omg her face after having to watch the man that brutalized her for 17 years talk negatively about her was so sad. She looked very upset. I've seen so many interview of Tina over the years & I've never seen her face look so sad . Also tina whom I love , said all her success came from europe but she was a huge huge hit here in America too. Maybe she means touring ? Bc that private dancer album was a gigantic hit she was on mtv all the time won several Grammys & sold a lot of copies in the u.s.
I think she means her albums and singles from Foreign Affair onwards did better which they did since those albums all charted in the top 10 in the international markets while only grazing the top 30/40 in the US. She was also charting in the top 40 consistently in Europe whereas in the US her last big charting hit was I Don’t Wanna Fight. So technically yes the bulk of her solo success since her comeback in 1983 came more from Europe since the five albums she released from 1984-1999 all performed well in that territory versus the two albums (Private Dancer and Break Every Rule) that were the only big sellers in the US out of those five.
She definitely sold more albums intentionally. Europe really embraced her music. The US is a youth driven market and she didn’t hit the big time until her mid-forties. Which is spectacular in itself. That said, her US album sales were still respectable for someone of her stature. Most of them post Private Dancer were certified gold or platinum.
@@wookiewarrior8948 that's because Europeans love black music..
@@husamelzien5738 you don't know the whole story, stop it tina was rough too.
Exactly
This is what Tina is singing about in What's love got to do with it especially when she says I've been thinking about my own protection, it scares me to feel this way
Tina is absolutely gorgeous inside and out.
No black people in her band, but what about her piano player, Kenny (I think that was his name)?
Yea, Kenny Moore was her pianist and her back up dancer during the Foreign Affair era, Lejune is black, and two twin dancers she had during this era (What's Love) were mixed.
Lejune was with her during the Ike days as well.
Brown Royal thats right. She was an Ikette
Kenny moore died 1997 during wildest dreams tour in Australia
Kenny worked with her since 1979 actually. What does race have to do with it? A lot of black people worked for her.
'but, but, if that's what it took to make her what she is today, I have no regrets' - SMFH.
4:20 Aww She Was Hurt & Ready To Break Down But Had To Put A Smile Cause If He Said Their Life Was A Lie Then He Never Loved Her
When you are greater than the circumstances around you, and you can see a light at the end of the tunnel that they cannot even imagine. Tina always had class when dealing with these kind of interviews- she knew the book and movie was going to reopen old wounds and she was prepared. How tacky though to ask her to watch Ike's responses. I suppose that tv show expected her to go off, but like she said, it was long ago. Tina's story is like so many others in the industry- a man "discovers" a female and makes her famous and then spends the rest of his life whining about how she went on to greater success. Sonny & Cher, etc.
lol Ike is so angry in his interview ans Tina is so calm and classy. He makes himself look like a moron
😂😂😂I’ll be angry too if those the only questions your gonna ask me
When Ike said our whole life was a lie,the look on her face was a look of pain. She was hurt but pulled it together. How can 16 years be a lie. She said that he was very good to her in the beginning. I think she really loved him, and deep down, she probably still did.
I agree. How do u stay with someone for all those years & didn’t love them?? If he treated her right I believe she would’ve stayed. U saw her face when he said that their life together was a lie?? 😢 RIP Tina❣️🙏🏾
I agree. I think she would have stayed, but God had bigger plans for Anna Mae. Her life played out just as it should have, and as bad as this may sound,we would have never known who Tina Turner is if it wasn't for Ike.. She carried the man's last name and first name until death.
I love Tina so so so much. Beautiful and brave. And a huge inspiration to me to leave an abusive marriage. She is a wonderful gracious person ❤️❤️❤️❤️
I laughed so hard when ike talks he is a monster
hahah Ike aint lying, she did start to speak with this weird british accent, he said australian, i guess. She was so great during the interview though. She took those hard questions with a smile, she was still a stunningly beautiful woman at her age, whenever they did this interview.
She comes out of an abusive marriage, takes his career.. Takes his hit songs.. Takes his fans.. I think Tina is Amazing plus She Absolutely Rocked my childhood... 😎
It is nonsense, because she worked from the beginning of the new startup with Kenny Moore, Lejeune and later with auther black backing vocals and black gitarist. He was just full of envy against her. A real man never talk like this about his beautiful ex. Skss
Looking at Tina watch Ike, I can still see the fear and contempt on her face.
something is wrong with your eyes.
As long as Black people can misuse you, then you are Black enough for them. The minute they find prosperity on Whiter ground, then there is a problem. U.S. Blacks were not wholeheartedly embracing Tina, as even much as the Whites, as Tina was still too
White for the Blacks and too Black for some Whites.
Europe wholeheartedly embraced
Tina. Moreover, she always spoke the same, which was from her inner spirit,
regardless of whence she came. The same about Diana Ross was evident in her
uniqueness. Tina made Ike. Without Tina, Ike would have remained UNKNOWN. You
messed that up Ike. People have always loved Tina, not you.
Without the black community there would be know Tina Turner. White people always jump on the bandwagon once they see us hyping about a person.
@@priscillaa4848 Obviously not because blacks were not supporting like that in the eighties, nineties too.

I love you my TINA! AND I can't believe how badly this interviewer treated you!
Tina was hoping to start a life with Raymond Hill, a person that worked in Ike's band. He walked away from the band and left Tina behind. It was Ike who suggested that they move in together. In the early stages of their career, they were just friends, but Ike felt like he needed to control Tina. But I know that Tina cared about Ike for a while, but was never in love with him. Ike should have been mature enough to let her go. That past situation is sad.
Jason Gibson neither Tina nor Ike were attracted to each other at first. They were good friends. Ike suggested she and her baby move in because she was living in a garage and had no money after her mother put her out. Tina said she eventually did fall in love with Ike but she knew he was a womanizer and violent. She wasn't naive heading into that relationship but she also Ioved to perform and wanted to be in his band. Maybe she thought he would change after the birth of their baby but she definitely wanted to make their family work after all she never had a stable family unit growing up.
Yesss definitely Tina seemed like a ride or die chick but Ike couldn't keep his hands to himself and treat her decent! Like a wife and the mother of your children! She would've definitely been in it for the long haul in my opinion...the all had traumatic experiences Including the children who all dabbled in drugs and Craig (Tina Son) committed suicide 😢
Ike was not going to let Tina go. She was his money maker and he needed Tina for the band even though he treated her horribly. The biggest mistake Tina made was the amount of time she spent with him. When he first beat her, she should ve whooped his ass how she did in the back of the limo when they was heading to Dallas Texas in 1976 then divorced his ass!! I know being that she grew up in a dysfunctional home, she didn't know any better. Im glad she s living a happy life now.
how do you know!! Ike ran his band the way he did it,,,

She does try a lil accent at times while talking. IDC IDC IDC SHES AWESOME 💕
4:02...He lying his ass off....lol
Tina Turner was never really wholeheartedly embraced in that manner by the black-American community, as the whites in America in the earlier days. Black artists who are often unique & atypical (of the so called black norm) are often labeled by their own as being not black enough. Yet, when they are embraced by white (other) audiences then they have been considered to have sold out. Then these same black audiences feel as though she (these artists) owes them something, just like Ike Turner to prove her (their) blackness. Get your own meal ticket Ike.
Tina married a man of quality later, even if he's white. Maybe if Whitney would have learned what Tina & Diana did, she would have recaptured her grace & got a good man, instead of AJ after Bobby instead of trying to prove this blackness. Race is second to love & finding your place.
Europe's money is just as good as any. She also actually has always had an accent when she spoke: it is more pronounced because she is confident. She subdued much of her real self when they were together. Also, she was not really that dark & used make-up for the lighter tones in her skin vs. the darker tones, so she still looks natural.
classanddignity She’s lost due to bad relationships and black oppression.. ur not making sense lol it has nothing to do with makeup or not being black enough that’s how it was Bck then she wasn’t taught anything her Fam was fckd up🤷🏾♀️🤷🏾♀️
“Then your a bad man”...lol!😂 He sounded like a like a little oh boy had his lollipop stolen by an adult😂
Being a black woman, I love Black ppl. I guess it's years of conditioning from my mum saying, "I love my own" and even though the girls I grew up with turned out not to be very nice, they were very proud blacks and the mixed race girl was more militant black than others so i had no identity problems in that regards, dont think i noticed being black. It was when i met a lightskin black girl in high shool i started to understand the issues of black ppl and self hate. She had serious issues.
She did for her career the same thing Josephine Baker did for hers.
Europe simply was the answer for the success they had.

They who cared about Tina’s success, and those who supported her are the people who kept the peace and calm around Tina.
Why is Ike complaining about people from England helping her career, when Ike had many white girlfriends in the 1970's , when he and Tina were married. Interviewers wee so rude to her by asking her did she see the movie. Tina was there during the making of the movie and gave a lot advice to the actors on how their characters should be played. In other interviews Tina has stated that it was the director's idea - Brian Gibson to add the rape scene in the movie, which never happened in real life. Robbie and Tina are still close and writes letters to one another. Tina, herself, never forgot Anne Thomas, Anne Cain, Rhonda Gram, and Robbie. She loves them all, but has moved on with her like.
Tina has always been color struck. In the 1970s she called Africans lazy and praised Europe. Her 1986 Rolling Stone interview reveals how she wanted to be white growing up and her preference for light skin men and white men. I also remember in the 1980s she performed at a rock concert for the Apartheid. She is now living her European dream.
@@bluesugar58 She now regrets that Sun City concert.

Tina Turner is still a product of Ike Turner. A building is only as strong as its foundation. May your soul rest peacefully and thanks for giving us Tina Turner, even if she might never say it. Sleep well.
Ike Turner was awful to Tina best thing she ever done was to leave him and his narcissistic abusive ways, As like many other women out there today black and white, She may not of needed skin grifts on her face to cover up the scars she had a good makeup artist to deal with that but I bet she is still living with the torment of not only the physical abuse he gave her but the emotional and mental abuse she endured throughout the relationship together domestic abuse is caused by and received by black and white its not just a colour thing if there is anyone out their going threw a domestic relationship please get help the police can help you with this before you end up in plot 5 of your local cemetery.
you don't know the whole story, you watched a Hollywood movie that was so fiction..
I agree with you, I am also glad that she didn't stay because it would have pulled her further down.
She said "I don't dwell on happiness". I didn't understand why she'd say that.
She had said she dont dwell on "unhappiness"

Good for you Tina- you Rock lady XX
Pick the right man? Tina was a girl not even out of High School when she met Ike. She was romantically involved with him until he pushed her into a corner where she had no place to go. That's how abuse starts. I've interviewed many woman concerning abuse. Control is the game. Some woman think they can make a difference. Tina had not experienced love of any kind at that point. Her mother was not there for her either. Abusers can con too! You have no idea.
