As someone who thought the same just a few months ago, I can say that you will be very happy that you bought into this series. I recently completed ME2 and I can say that it is by far one of the best games I've ever played, especially in terms of story and characters. I did same thing before getting Lair of the shadow broker. Liara in ME1, Tali in ME2, and Liara in ME3. But liara knew i romanced tali and asked if i still loved her. Of course i said YES! ANd then tali killed herself in ME3 because i didnt do the right options in ME2 to save both legion and tali. They both died. At that point, i restarted ME2. That day was a sad day for me.

Did Ashley spend 2 years trying to bring Shepard back? Did Ashley join the fight against the Collectors? Did Ashley get out of the way, letting Shepard kill Udina while he tried to take over the Citadel? Loyal? Please. Ashley is just some hot-headed, loose warhead, racist, xenophobic bitch. Liara is calm, compassionate, strong, smart and dedicated. Interestingly, she's even more loyal than Ashley could ever be.

I like how Liara interprets "can't I choose you both?" as choosing her. Triss or Yennifer in The Witcher 3 won't make such an interpretation, you just loose them both. When I had a male Shepard with this scene, I let Ash die guarding the bomb. That male character of mine went on to cheat on Liara with Jack (after the Shadow Broker mission so I didn't get any confrontation). Jack was first to die. So I was surprised Liara didn't bring Jack up in Mass Effect 3 If a female Shepard hooks up with Samantha, Liara gets mad. What gives? She's okay with Ashley or Kaiden, but she doesn't like Samantha?
@@Cx10110100 she refers to herself as a young woman on her pilgrimage in the third game, so... The shadow broker dossier has her birthdate as 2161 and ME1 starts 2183, so she’s 22. The pilgrimage is clearly just an abstracted extension of the idea that you aren’t an adult until you have a job and can support yourself without your parents’ help in our modern society.
@@BoxStudioExecutive Again, now talking whether she's biologically grown or not. We're talking Quarian culture and law. It is very common to accidentally romance her. After the first mission all the positive responses you give regarding her joining the crew will start the romance subplot.
I'm playing through the series again, and I just made the same choice. Too bad they didn't allow a threesome. What's awesome is how receptive Liara is after all that.

Oh wait, Ashley can become a spectre too. It is not like the Shadow Broker commands Spectres though, cough, Vasir, cough. Liara is the true love, Ashley got her sisters.
I went with Ash through all 3 games because I kept forget where Liara was, but if I ever did this I'd pick Liara. She handled the situation way better and didn't even insult ash back.
samturrett Quasi-racist I think would be more like it - she disdains actual racists in ME1 when they're trying to get Shepard to agree to their petition or something like that, down in the wards of the citadel where the Blade Runner style traffic is visible, same level as the one doctor who was being black mailed but toward the final missions (I think while the Normandy's impounded, but I don't remember for certain).
Maybe but if u talk to her on the citadel In me1 she sometimes says I cant tell the aliens from the animals but that's the only time her distrust to aliens bothered me alot

+TheEvilQueen you can romance any of the 2 in me 1, have the short lived affair with jack in me2 romance tali afterwards and in me3 you just romance the one you didnt in ME 1 then you had 4 and thats tops i got
+TheEvilQueen Guess who is getting sacrificed in nuke mission....
Ashley's treatment of Liara in the beginning there was one of the main reasons I saved Kaiden over her on Virmire lol NO REGRETS
Erin L also because from a meta-game standpoint Kaiden is a lot more useful than ashley
Spartan3101200 Yeah, for sure. Especially since in ME1 I took Garrus with me always, and Kaiden balanced it out with his biotic abilities. I just think overall, Kaiden is by far the better choice of who to save, unless of course someone plans on romancing Ashley.
Erin L I always took wrex+garrus
Spartan3101200 love wrex, especially in ME3
I always take Liara and Tali.
LOL! Man I was almost rolling on the floor when I saw "Catfight!" as an option xD
If that the case then Liara will be the winner for sure . Dat biotic power is far more superior than some rusty gun :)
Tuan12088 tell that to shepard (soldier). see what he thinks.
I think he meant under the sheets if you know what I'm saying.
I had this scene in my Liara romance playthrough, even though I never attempted a romance with Ashley (to my knowledge). Just to make sure Ash didn't ninjamance me I nuked her from orbit.
That happends regarless so long as you paragon talk her. You could always simply deny to talk to her at all and she won't even get mad.
"Catfight!" There are a lot of great renegade choices in mass effect, but I've never laughed out loud just from seeing one on the conversation wheel.
The facial expression of Shepard @ the 1:50 mark is just hilarious when he says : Can't I have you both?
Why do I have to make a choice, maybe the three of us could eh ...... xDDDDDDDDDDDDDD
He didn't deliver that line with enough confidence to pull it off.
The first Normandy was just so much cozier for some reason
I prefer Mass Effect 2’s Normandy. Better lighting and the first Normandy is too blue.
@@Spider-Man2094 Thats the exact reason i dont like the SR2's lighting, its too white and perfect, the SR1 had dimmer lighting and the conference room which was cozy.
And ME2's ship is just so fucking ginormous. I honestly avaoid checking on people solely because I don't feel like jogging halfway across the damn hull.
@@yarpen26 I agree. The SR1 was very simple which is why it's, along with its atmosphere, is my favourite.
Sorry, but I've never liked Ashley's character. No discredit or disrespect to the voice actor, she did great. I just don't like the way they wrote Ashley's character.
there's some people who love playing pro-human/anti-alien playthroughs which i guess ashley is a perfect LI for lol
Don't worry, everybody hates Ashley :D
I wish I chose Kaidan on Virmire, Ashley is just a finger down the throat in all the games. I romanced Liara, and she's just so much better
Ashley isn't a bad character, it's her backstory that causes her to be so confrontational.
When you go through life with everyone trying to make you give up, you tend to expect every interaction to be hostile.
@@mikevignola4213 nah bro I gave her nothing but respect and trust throughout Mass Effect, and I play Renegade too, but I was always Paragon with her cos I already knew her story, yet in Mass Effect 3 she was still a narrow minded shit. And she still kept saying she didn't trust me and it was always "Shepard Cerberus this" and "Shepard Cerberus that"
She watches too much Fox News.
Shepard can convince Leviathan to change their minds or to stop a war between Quarian and Geth that lasted for centuries
But he can never convince Ashley and Liara for a threesome
As someone who thought the same just a few months ago, I can say that you will be very happy that you bought into this series. I recently completed ME2 and I can say that it is by far one of the best games I've ever played, especially in terms of story and characters. ME1 is also a fantastic game with a very classic KOTOR-type feel to it. You will be very pleased that you took the time to experience this series, though I can't yet speak for ME3.
"I'm glad you chose me" Da hell? He tried to choose both of them, and only Ashley walked away angrily! Why didn't Liara do the same?
+Gui Caldo cause Liara didn't seem to mind. She's open to new things :)
CultOfMoMo Knowing her as I did, I don't think she would be very open to share Shepard with another woman.
+Gui Caldo haha! Fair enough. I always chose Tali
CultOfMoMo I romanced Liara in ME1, Tali in ME2 and came back to Liara in the third one, and I'll keep it that way on my second run, except that I'll end up choosing Tali.
Liara showing the true progression within how to view and accept other types of relationships. She’s just the best.
Your "punishment" for trying to be a womanizer is losing worst girl and getting 2nd best girl*.
It's the best punishment ever.

good guy bioware guiding you towards the better romance of the two
Did Ashley spend 2 years trying to bring Shepard back? Did Ashley join the fight against the Collectors? Did Ashley get out of the way, letting Shepard kill Udina while he tried to take over the Citadel? Loyal? Please. Ashley is just some hot-headed, loose warhead, racist, xenophobic bitch.
Liara is calm, compassionate, strong, smart and dedicated. Interestingly, she's even more loyal than Ashley could ever be.
Инреr sонал when shepherd asked liara to help in m2 she said no and had him help her 2 times so your point is invalid
Fulade 0306 lol if u play Lair of the shadow broker & romanced liara in mass effect 1 but cheated on her she says 'u deserve to be happy' whereas Ashley gets Soo jealous if u pursue another romance.
Khanan Liara is still pretty pissed.
Ray Last I mean, rightfully so. If I went through all of that and then got cheated on, I’d be pretty pissed too.
Can’t wait to trigger this situation in HD with the remaster.
Shepard: "Ladies. I play both sides. That way I always come out on top."
Ashley: "You're not supposed to say that part out loud."
Liara: "Wow. You're so smart! :)"
Ashley: "Uh, nevermind. I'm out. Have fun. Jerks."
"Report to the ship as soon as possible"
"Well bang, OK?"
I wish they had added one more renegade line at the end like: I didn´t choose you liara, I asked to have you both and Ashley just walked away.
maybe ashley would have said yes if kaiden was in liara's place
and Kaiden would've said yes if it was liara and a male Shep
that took me a while to process
I guess the third option is influenced the "We'll Bang, Okay?"
It feels like the developers really wanted us to end up with Liara
1:46 If they agreed then he'd be tied on the bed and leave him there.
Tali romance master race
I won't have my crew fighting

I like how Liara interprets "can't I choose you both?" as choosing her. Triss or Yennifer in The Witcher 3 won't make such an interpretation, you just loose them both. When I had a male Shepard with this scene, I let Ash die guarding the bomb. That male character of mine went on to cheat on Liara with Jack (after the Shadow Broker mission so I didn't get any confrontation). Jack was first to die. So I was surprised Liara didn't bring Jack up in Mass Effect 3
If a female Shepard hooks up with Samantha, Liara gets mad. What gives? She's okay with Ashley or Kaiden, but she doesn't like Samantha?
I min maxed out all the relationships that I could
I said no to both, and then wonder why I couldn't romance Tali, and the Mass Effect 2 happened.
Well, technically Tali wasn't adult in the first ME
@@Cx10110100 technically speaking she was an adult, but in her culture she had to prove that with her pilgrimage
@@SirParanoidAndroid yea, biologically she was. But i doubt thats the case in Quarian law
@@Cx10110100 she refers to herself as a young woman on her pilgrimage in the third game, so...
The shadow broker dossier has her birthdate as 2161 and ME1 starts 2183, so she’s 22.
Also just think about how successful the quarian fleet would be if they sent teenagers out into the galaxy with no support system and just let them ‘survive’ on their own.
One is considered an adult and a full citizen once they finish their piligrimage and return with the gift to the flotilla. It is then they recieve their adult name and new legal and societal status
0:44 OH SNAP
Liara is so awkward, like a robot from Westworld. I don't want to imagine how she would comment every single movement in bed.
Liara and Ashley fight over Johnny Klebbitz
I wasn't even trying for ash and i still had this scene....
It is very common to accidentally romance her. After the first mission all the positive responses you give regarding her joining the crew will start the romance subplot.
RULE #1 - Never let yourself get confronted by both ladies at the same time!!
I got this screen as well, what sucks is that you have to choose one or the other, there and then.
I'm playing through the series again, and I just made the same choice. Too bad they didn't allow a threesome. What's awesome is how receptive Liara is after all that.
We'll bang, okay?
I always thought that should be an option inserted into this dialogue wheel. 😂😂
C'mon guys, we are humans too...... and Ash is very jealous of lirara... so she said something out of jealousy not because she's racist.... get your shit together guys.. just drop the nonsense hate.....
And for the record if Liara & Ash were males... they would've beat the shit out of each other. (In real life.)
Dude, lots people don't like her because her attitude and her reactions. Seriously, you can't talk with her normally, and no hugs,no kisses just sex 1-2times(kissing while fucking not counts) Tali is a way better choice. Her personality and her character is just perfect(for me) Back to the topic, they are know that she isn't racist, they just don't like her.
Indeed. That is how I ended up married.
Meanwhile poor Tali has a massive crush on Shepard the entire time but doesnt say anything until two years later . . . 😢
She is just a kid in the first game
@@axelnilsson5124 In ME1, Tali is 22 years old and Shepard is 29. It's not that big of a gap.

Liara forever!!!!!!
Good thing about Liara is, that she doesnt have sex. You can have her as a male or as a famale Shepard!
Well, I suppose a racist would be more interesting than a xeno-archeologist who is the daughter of a super powerful matriarch who eventually becomes the Shadow Broker and finds the schematics for the Crucible device. Oh wait, Ashley can become a spectre too. It is not like the Shadow Broker commands Spectres though, cough, Vasir, cough. Liara is the true love, Ashley got her sisters.
*Ashley and Liara fighting*
Shepard: Whoops
Joker: Aaaaand we're out
Lets be legit though, Liara would fucking murder Ashley
I love how no one is at their best right now.
I went with Ash through all 3 games because I kept forget where Liara was, but if I ever did this I'd pick Liara. She handled the situation way better and didn't even insult ash back.
Plot twist: the council was watching the whole time
Not sure why everybody think Ash is racist, there's plenty of references in 1, 2, and 3 that she moved past that.
2 and 3 maybe, but not in 1.
samturrett
Quasi-racist I think would be more like it - she disdains actual racists in ME1 when they're trying to get Shepard to agree to their petition or something like that, down in the wards of the citadel where the Blade Runner style traffic is visible, same level as the one doctor who was being black mailed but toward the final missions (I think while the Normandy's impounded, but I don't remember for certain).
Your memory serves you just fine.
Maybe but if u talk to her on the citadel In me1 she sometimes says I cant tell the aliens from the animals but that's the only time her distrust to aliens bothered me alot
Bradley Carter that's the sort of stuff I was thinking of.
good god, Shepards face when he says "why do I have to make a choice". That is one DEVIOUS smirk.

She's dull and her tentacle hair is so weird. I never understood the Asari attraction myself.
"I'm glad BioWare chose me for you, Shepard..."
I somehow ended up with Ash in my first ME1 playthrough even though I have no idea how it happened, because I tried to be free for Tali in second game with inserted character.
Im still wondering how do an asari born??
Just like a human. Only difference is how they are conceived and the fact that asari are blue. And have tentacle hair.
i'm wondering how they get childern at all. I mean all the Asari's are females.
Martijn Smolenaers have you ever played mass effect ?
Martijn Smolenaers Asari can have sex and have children with any intelligent race, including themselves. Two Asari can have children, An Asari and a Krogan have have children, Asari and human ect ect.
how is babby formed??
This never happened for me, not that I interacted with either enough to cultivate an affinity. But in Mass Effect: Genesis, Shepard acted as if at some point it did, and he decided to spare them both for the sake of the mission.
How do you even get this dialogue interaction? ME is one of my favorite games but I've never gotten this before!
You have to flirt with Ashley and Liara. Eventually this scene happens, forcing you to choose one.
Your Shepard looks exactly like mine but mine had more hair.
