FYI on those rear Sterling axles, they are known for the plug welds on the diff housing to break. That means it will spin on the axle tubes. You need to fully weld the axle tubes to the diff housing. So where the tubes go into the housing you weld them completely around to the diff housing.

I have only seen that really needed for either power levels way beyond stock or heavy off road use/rock crawling abuse. I know Chris at u-joint was able to break one if that is what you are referring to.

Did you remove the distribution adapter to master cylinder for drum brakes. I did same set up on my E350 but have not removed that part and have not addressed E brake cables either. Any insight you can give me would be appreciated

My van actually had oem disc rear brakes, at least at some point in the vans life it got disc brakes.

E-brake cables are actually pretty easy. just need the F-series ones on rear axle and custom intermediate cable.

I just bought a 2009 E350 cargo van and I'm not sure why you needed to swap the rear axle at all. Can you explain that again? Also, I want to do a 4x4 conversion on my van. But all I want is a modest 3-4" lift Quigley type conversion. Do you know the best way ti approach this type of conversion? I know about U joint leaf spring conversions and I know they're good. But I only want a Quigley type lift.

Factory rear axle is 8-6.5 lug pattern. and the new front axle is 8-170mm lug pattern. that's problem #1, then the axle width is another issue. New front axle does not have the same track width. 99-04 axle is close but 05 and up is 3'' wider than the 99-04. Plus I change gear ratios from 3:73 to 4:10 with 35" tires.

I have a 2002 ford e350 2wd with semi float rear axel. I'm looking to swap it to full float rear axel. Other than that not sure why people would swap..

How did you deal with the VSS? The sensor that originally bolt on the original D60 for the speedometer reading

Speedo reading does not come from the rear speed sensor on the rear end housing. That actually comes from the OSS on the tail of transmission. Which you do have to run a Speedo calibration module. I use one from Dakota Digital to convert the signal so the speedo reads correctly.
