John Dehner as The Blacksmith. From Wikipedia: "In addition to becoming fluent in Norwegian and French, he also spoke "some" Swedish, Spanish, German, and Italian."
It’s so interesting listening to these and other shows to try and pick out the actors by voices and hearing the names of the casts John Dehner was one of those actors who shows up in so many movies and radio one of the top character actors of old
A note on why Emil the blacksmith was called a Dutchman in this episode: Germans and Austrians speak "Deutsch" and a lot of people used to assume they were therefore Dutch. Then as now, Americans were often oblivious as to whom immigrants really were, they were just considered foreign and undesirable. The cowboy, gunfighter, detective and autobiographer Charlie Siringo was born in what was called "the Dutch settlement" on Matagorda Island (actually Siringo was Italian-Irish by descent, the settlement was just where he happened to be born). I don't think "Dutch" immigrants were even considered to be "white" in those days. Btw I vaguely remember this episode from childhood.

Emil, the Dodge City blacksmith: beware the fury of a patient man. A gem by Norman Mcdonnell.

One of the better stories. Emil the Blacksmith is so different from Paladin (HGWT). Great acting. 🤠
Those Germans are such peaceful people , but if pushed too far even they will fight.
And they have a history of attacking.......THE WORLD
Just checking in to see what's going on in Dodge....Dillon's had his hands full lately
