Conrad's voice on these makes me flash back to _Rocky and Bullwinkle_ as he had voiced the announcer. Paul Frees also performed in _Gunsmoke_ episodes. Here are some R&B out takes; ruclips.net/video/I1KpOx4NeR0/видео.html Conrad - Twelve Days of Christmas: ruclips.net/video/NaTqN2ZuYSw/видео.html I grew up in the San Fernando Valley and to have film and television 'location shoots' around the neighborhood was a fairly common occurrence. One day a scene from Cannon was being shot right at the end of my street, about 100 yards or so from our front door. Though a short scene of 'Cannon' pulling up in his full sized Lincoln (when they were 'land yachts'), getting out, barking some dialogue before getting back in and driving off, it took half the day to set up and shoot several 'takes'. Every time Conrad got out of that Lincoln it leapt up from its compressed springs and squashed back down several inches as he threw himself back into it.
@Brian Salomon Wow, what a negative attitude. Your subjective pessimism aside, it IS possible the episode could have been well-made into an excellent hour-long program or more.
@Brian Salomon Well my friend, I must say, your second statement has an entirely different feel than your first one. Although I agree with you about remaking a classic film, that the original feel is never captured or surpassed, my initial comment was more along the lines of transferring the original story to a different medium/platform rather than remaking it in the same medium/platform, if you see the difference.
Talk about a striking contrast: a superb piece of radio drama, courtesy of Gunsmoke alongside the cynicism and utter balderdash of Ligett and Myers: L & M: “Just what the doctor ordered.”
If only there was justice like this today. Now, the six murderers would be seen as sympathetic victims who had bad childhood's, who would be eligible for parole in five years, and out in three. Meanwhile, Matt would be on trial and convicted with a 30 year sentence for police brutality.

Clearly one of the best ever written…I cried at the end. This is what justice should look like
The best episode of the entire radio series. They don't get any better than this.
"What kind of marshall would ambush men like that"
"My kind"
COLD AS FUCK
Conrad was an excellent actor, radio & tv both.

In what world do you live in where you think a group of men who systematically killed and mutilated several families would be seen as sympathetic?

So dark and dramatic. Great entertainment.
This is the angriest I've seen Dillon in these episodes
I love it when he get's mad. Especially when he yells, "SHUT UP"
Nowadays Marshal Dillon would get life in prison. Great episode.
👍😁
