Came back to this video AGAIN. Mate you're literally the only one that keeps videos to concise length and compares switches side by side. It's such a difficult product medium to describe to people.
I like the nk creams and black inks but I love the creaminess when the creams are lubed but love the thockiness with black inks but I’m leaning toward creams but I’m not sure
That’s kinda my feeling too… they are both just very different! Hard to compare, it just comes down to taste… some days I like Inks more, some days I prefer Creams
Nice video, I too think the community overvalues "smoothness". I used a Varmillo board for a while with stock Cherry Reds. They were very scratchy but in a weird way also felt really good and sort of addicting to type on. It just had character and wasn't offputting.
Yo it's so funny looking back on this now because this was just a year ago. These switches have all kind of been replaced in just a year. Oil kings, replacing black inks Zakus replacing creams, Cjs replacing both tangies, Tealios and Durocks just falling off, and Gaterons Pro yellows replacing milky yellows as the budget option. Just funny how much the linear switch pool has changed and grew since this video. I still think all of these switches are just as good if not better than the ones that are popular today tbh.
It is weird indeed! I did the Linear Tier List video as a kind of update, but even since that it's crazy how much my preference and opinions have changed! I agree with your point, I think alot of the early switches I tried are still best in class
I just ordered some milky yellows and ink blacks to replace the plain yellows in my GMMK2 and it looks like i might not even take the milky yellows out of the bag!
I love them - I think people care about scratch way too much and look for the smoothest switches - it’s not overly noticeable when actually typing at and normal speed and would have to have your ear by the keyboard to hear it
Anything with a long pole stem (creams, durock poms, BigWigs, huskys, stuff like that) will have a clean bottom out which causes that type of sound - also something people forget is the plate material - alu or carbon fibre are hard and will aid the volume and pitch of the switch’s sound
Was gonna go for the Tangerines as my first Linears but instead ive gone and bought the new Box Inks V2. Ive seen a couple review videos about it and theyre basically the same as the Ink Blacks but much better
They are super smooth. When I said ‘feel’ in the video, I meant my general feelings using the switch rather than how they physically feel whilst typing….. So they are very smooth but I didn’t like the sound profile or spring weight
Have you tried the Cherry MX Black Hyperglides? I started with the milky yellows and have used the tangies and inks. Completely agree with you on all points.
@@tom_types Looks like they're on dangkeebs for a decent price. Would love to try them on my Haus keyboard but customs to Europe will kill me. dangkeebs.com/products/cherry-hyperglide-black

They are both made of the exact same materials, the only difference in the L3 and L2 are the spring weight and stem colour… the L3 have a heavier spring and would be more similar to Black Inks in that sense
Stock I’d say Durock L2s win…. I personally love the clacky sound of creams, but stock they are soooo scratchy. The Durock L2s will sound kinda like Black Inks
@@tom_types I have recently bought some lube it arrives tmrw, I have decided to lube the switch but I love the sound of both the switches but I love black inks and I want my switches to sound like black inks

All 3 extremely similar! Tangies would be my go to out of the 3 as they are a little more unique having UMWPE housings - making them sound a bit softer almost - but the Alpacas are alot of people’s best JWK switch. Splits are a slightly thinner sounding Alpaca in my opinion
@@tom_types oh ok i see. I've tried tangerines and splits before, seems tangerines at least to me seem bouncier sort of like milky yellows for some reason. Splits seem deeper sounding The only only I have not tried are alpacas. But I've heard alpacas are quieter than the 3? what's your opinion on splits vs. alpacas on a stacked acrylic keyboard?
@@welcomehomelucy5153 I've not used an acrylic Keyboard - so not sure how that feels to type on - I'd probably agree though Alpacas might be the quietest to type on but it's very close
I’d say Black Inks! But the Tealios are quite unique so it’s kind of up to you, what sound do you prefer? I’ve got before and after lubed sound videos for both on my channel
How far would you say are the Tealios from the tangerines referring smoothness? 😊 And a further question, if I use a 60g spring in the black inks, will that take away the thock?
Stock, the tangies are smoother, lubed maybe the Tealios but its super close. I don’t think the lighter spring would change the thock no... i might try that too!
@@tom_types thanks for the quick reply! If you test it, please let me know! I’m right before purchasing Tealios but I don’t know if I should go for 63/65/67g and the shipping to my country is expensive so I can’t test it..
@@tom_types shame on me.. I only used cherry reds and silvers. Very new to this community :) so I don’t really know which weight I prefer. Maybe the 67 will be great..
