These or black ink v2 or marshmallows?
Can you send the link of the keyboard’s cable?
Well, switching to Quinn after two months with the Baby Kangaroo, my first ‘serious’ purchase. The obsession has begun... xD. Do you think I'm moving in the right direction? I think I'm all about the tactile ones.
Hi tom great vid btw, i was wondering if the gateron oil kings are thockier than the gateron ink black v2's? What do u think?
Dang, stock really sound better imo.
Stock was already good sheeesh
Very nice and straight forward man cool, btw how is it compare to baby kangoroo?
Not tried Kangaroos! But there are soooo nice
@@tom_types im interested because im picking those two for test and its on the way. Really looking forward
should i film them?
No need! I really think filming is a thing of the past
Trying to decide between Gateron Beer and Quinn switches.. is the Quinn switch real heavy?
Not at all, pretty light all things considered, both the spring and the tactile bump
planning to build some zykos; was wondering what are the exact components you used for them? i searched online and it kind of varies lol. thanks
Should be in my video description but ai can’t find it! I used Drop Panda tops, Zealios bottoms and Drop Panda stems
@@tom_types do you know the difference people talk about when they use halo clear stems vs panda stems or panda tops vs cherry nylon tops? and you use zeal v2 bottoms right? thx thx
The halo clear and true stems are similar if not the same as I understand, but not used the halo stems…. Panda tops or Cherry nylon tops will change the sound a bit, and I’m not certain on the compatibility - yes the v2 Zealios
Great vid mate very helpful! Got a new subscriber, cheers
*so.. what's the cheapest frankenswitch here?*
Creamerons I think…. Maybe the Creamerons with the Kailh Pro Burgundy stems
@@tom_typesGateron housing, people mostly use milky yellow for it i think?
They sound little scratchy ?
Did you hand lube them?
hate that ping on the switch. can heart it
My switch opener won’t open these. What do I do
Hey! So these are Kailh switches, you can get the clips open with other household tools, buts its more difficult - I’d be surprised if your switch opener didn’t have the edges to open it, most do, they just look like the sides of the opener, but it’s actually for these types of switches
@@tom_types oh thanks, just ordered one
Before and before
would love to see an updated 2024 tactile tier list in the near future
Hello, i think you should change the keyboard for soundtest. Im trying it with KDB Maja v2 and it sound lower pitch, even with DCS profile
The lubed samples definitely sound more muted & deeper, but how did the lube affect the feel in your experience?
I hardly noticed anything with the feel, just less scratch really
@@tom_types Thanks for the note! I've been fortunate in that I think mine haven't been scratchy, but there's definitely some spring ping on them that's made me want to lube the springs, and at that point maybe I just lube the rest of the switch while I'm at it.
Question, boba u4t are hard to type on? I am worried if would have finger fatigue I usually use gateron oil kings but I want that thocky sound, they don’t have boba’s u4t actuation force on the specs 😢
They are certainly feel heavier than most, but I think the Oil Kings are fairly heavy (80g bottom out), so if you bottom out the Oil Kings you’d be totally fine with the Bobas
@@tom_types appreciate for the tip and replying 🫰🏼 😇
I made this exact switch and I'm happy I did. I prefer the feel and after a while the Oil Kings started squeaking.
Anything is more noticeable than browns
For sure!
@@tom_types can you review anubis tactiles. Im interested in buying them for my birthday
@@tom_types can you review anubis tactiles?
@@tom_types can you review anubis tactile?
Ooh, why it's so clacky? I thought that they are some of the thockiest swithes
Good question! The Tofu with an Aluminium plate tends to make switches sound like that, no matter how ‘thocky’ they are
So arw these kind of low pitched? Otherwise i am looking for a deep sounding tactile switch (budget). Can you help me ? :D
They are in that middle range of pitch for tactile’s I’d say - its harder to get long pole tactiles to be low pitched though, other than the Boba U4Ts, that’s all I can think of
@@tom_types okay that sounds good. Thanks. I am thinking of ordering fake holy pandas from aliexpress. Any thoughts? And are they also considered deep sounding ish?
Some of the Holy Pandas are legit off AliExpress…. If it’s the Feker branded ones, Im not so sure. They certainly have a deep sound - what sort of plate material do you have in the board?
@@tom_types so i have the akko 5075s barebone kit. i am now thinking of buying the tecsee mango ice because they sound kind of low pitched. but idk
What headphones and dac/amp are you using?
Schiit Magni Heresy AMP and a Sennheiser GSX 1000 DAC - for my Sennheiser HD6XX Headphones
@@tom_types How do you rate this combo?
I went from a gaming headset to that setup and it’s fantastic, best I’ve ever used easily, but I know in the audiophile world it’s fairly basic - I’d recommend open back headsets though, I get base is worse, but the sound is just so much wider and more real
i love the graph at the end!
Thanks! Might have to bring them back 😝
HMX xinhai, HMX Macchiato, JWICK Vertex V1. Give these a try.
I’ll put them on the list to research! Thanks
this
I love my vertex v1s
You should check out the hat smoothie. People have been loving it
Hat Smoothie? Cant find it, I assume it’s a typo 😂
@@tom_types gat*. Sorry meant gateron
Haha will check it out!
Just tried these switches. Very similar feel, but I still prefer the Bykos. Still a very good alternative though

I upvote all typing tests that don't include weird snaps at the beginning.
Just getting into the hobbies, and this video was awesome. Looking Forward to making these, would you have a link to which switches to buy? Also are these version of the frankenstein possible in 2024? Im not sure if the production tooling changed.
Yo! They are my most used and probably favourite switch, so good choice! I don’t have any links as I made mine a long time ago, but any Black Ink or Oil King bottom housing… Any Milky Top (I used Gateron)… and a long pole stem from a linear (I’ve used NK Creams, Kailh Pro Burgundy, Tecsee Carrots and they all fit). Switches I haven’t specifically mentioned would need more research to see if they’d fit
The stock one is clacky, the lubed one is marbly. I lubed all mine with qk75n sounds heaven
Couldn’t agree more, my new favourite tactile
is it heavier after lubing?
@@imnotwhitebutimwhite i’d say its smoother
Yes lining them is extremely worth it, They’re not that great of a switch to begin with honestly 😅 (in today’s standards I mean,) the unlubed sound is just straight out cheap, not even a worth “clacky” switch!
True true, I was just delving into my archives for shorts!
@@tom_types cool!
i have a suggestion for you. what about making a switch "database" of sorts that ranks switches on different things, like switch feel, tactility and smoothness. Also including frankenswitches.
These are my current favorite tactile. I put them in my Zoom75 and QK100
Couldn’t agree more! They’re are such a nice surprise
People always mention the sound in these comparisons. The biggest difference (at least for me) is the much improved typing feel, just so much smoother and responsive. That's why I always lube my switches, the improved sound is just a nice bonus. Edit: I only use tactiles and I only lube the rails and the springs. That's enough to get the improved feel that I want.
Do you find any of the switches scratchy at all?
Maybe 2 of my whole batch - but could easily be resolved by lightly lubing it
@@tom_types Which part did you lube? I lubed the whole switch and it didn't go away.
Scratch is usually because of the stem and leaf contact - did you look at the leaf?
Is there a sound test? I would like to use my BCPs, Creamsicles or my Creampacas for that spray can sound as they are all long stem options. What foam configuration did you do on the fr4
Yeah, this one is the better one: Space65 - more sound tests ruclips.net/video/I2vCdRWw5lE/видео.html …
I used all the foam and I’d say I got pretty close to the spray can sound with my C’thulhu switches
Short and to the point
I do try!!
Whats your favourite switches?
Linear or Tactile? Linears would be Aqua Kings, Oil Kings, Gateron Speed SIlvers..... Tactiles; Holy Pandas, Gateron Quinns, Harimau
Def worth lubing. The Tactile noise was lessened after the lube. But what about the feel?
Feels the same! Even lubing the bump on the stems, I hardly notice
Is there a difference between silver and speed silver?
Some sellers name them a bit differently, the Silvers are sometimes optical switches that you certainly don’t want… the Speed Silvers are also called Pro Silvers or G Pro Silvers… if that helps
Do you have a list of all the scores and "is it worth lubing" you've given?
docs.google.com/spreadsheets/d/14FIOuGlffntJmXKJSGYJnPoeGvy8BPueM4NWdnHN7fE/edit#gid=0 I have the data, it just took me this long to move it across a spreadsheet so I don't share my secrets
How did the thockiest switch anyone can find become a smoother speed-silver
One of the smoothest!
Just take one, lube it, take another one, lube it a little more, and compare both to stock. LOL I just did that for my BSUN Roselles and there was NO difference whatsoever. Slow pressing, half pressing, pressing down with side load, normal typing, fast typing.... the factory lube job was indiscernible and sufficient. So unless the stocks are actually bone dry bare plastic on all surfaces... don't bother! ;)
Try WS heavy tactile.
So poppy
Even stock, they are so nice!
i thought they were called fuyu?
Spellcheck! Thanks
@@tom_types you're welcome! looking forward to your review on them
These sound great stock
Yes they do! Not much difference
Just purchased these feel sooooo smooth and they just sound excellent
Glad you like them! They are so nice
