Derek was very smooth and very strong driver, had he chosen at the right time the right teams, he then would have been at least one time world champion!
@@johnhassall1782 That's a killer as we see on Berger. Too nice = not greedy enough on/off the track = disadvantage to those Senna's, Mansell's, Prost's, Schumacher's.

Maybe todays Cars have no Driving Aids, but they have the Full Telemetrie, where the Pit can see everything, and tell the Driver to drive like this, or to drive like this ... Put more Breakpower to the Rear, because the Telemetrie say you dont use the Full Breakpower... Set you Breakingpoint 10meters later in Corner 5, because the Telemetrie say you lose time there ... And all those Things. Maybe no Driving Aids. But back in the Days the Driver was alone with the Car. Today every Driver pull out 110% out of his Car.
@cheems Ignore them they are boomers. I love old Formula 1 as much as the next guy but come on they devalue modern F1 like a child could drive them or something smh as if todays F1 drivers don't have to deal with the highest ever G-force and be at least twice as fit as any of the old time F1 drivers.
Formula 1 with gear shift and little if no protection: these were the real Men of the track with balls of steel. Derek Warwick was an excellent 👍 and dedicated driver who lacked nothing, but luck.
Awesome video. Fun to watch, but also a sad reminder of how F1 is supposed to be. Now they are way to big, heavy, complicated and $$$ expensive. Today. When you get a look at the driver going around the track it is very steady, stable, calmly switching buttons.
Watching videos like this, nowadays' F1 simply lacks emotions. When I hear this sound, see how bumpy the track is, and how it bangs the steering wheel, and how you can sense the limit... it's just not the same today. Polished, posh cars and drivers these days. While, back in the days, it was man and machine against the time, and the tech. Not everything gets better.
Tracks today are as bumpy as they were in many occasions. Today cars suspension also work a lot. The difference is that the onboard cameras stabylize a lot of the motion.
Senna vetoed Warwick from Lotus-Renault team when Derek had a pre contract already signed with the team. This was december 1985. Derek couldn't find another sit for the 1986 season. It wasn't til Elio De Angelis death at Paul Ricard on a test by mid season that Bernie Ecclestone offered Warwick that sit in the Brabham team on which he drove for the second half of that season.
the reason was Lotus was not able to handle two cars at the same time, the general performance would suffer. Teh decline of Lotus was visible also back than. Warwick wasn't as good as Berger or Hakkinen. Both were squashed by Senna. Derek Warwick was only a decent driver, nothing more.

I didn't get it, why they made a chicane in Tamburello?! if they replaced the concrete wall with tires problem would be solved and we would see Senna between us today!
I could watch this for months continuously...That day I was sitting on the Tosa hill!
Great footage of pure driving talent,, no auto bliping,, just perfect heel and toeing shifting 😎👌👏
From the time when Imola was still a great track. ❤️
