Absolutely wonderful tutorial. I do believe you can set it up to be controlled frame-by-frame. I have a retro PS1-style character, whose facial animations are sprites, and I can pick between them individually in the level sequencer.
I wasn't planning too, but your persistence is slowly changing my mind - I'd have to think about what nodes are the most important, but I really feel like I use like 8 total most of the time.
