    One of the reasons I usually start my cutting with the green Hex Logic is because of it's contourability. I have found it to out perform the yellow and especially the orange foam in defect removal. The lighter the pressure, the better it will work.
    I always though of it in these terms... The paint is already thin. The defects are even shallower. I dont see the point of adding the amounts of pressure that have been promoted in the industry for years. It creates a lot of heat, it wastes energy, it's not good for the paint, pads, hook & loop materials, and joints. In my mind it "ocer shoots" the target wasting time and energy, but thats just me!
    I really like the blue for polishing / finishing. The white is very nice too.

    I use to use the Buff'nShine urofiber 50/50 pads with 3D One but lately have been using a Lake Country CDD SDS orange foam polishing pad instead and getting even better results as cutting but then finishing down better. Even on paint that i have sanded with my DA orbital with 1500, 2000, then 3000 just using that combo with awsome results.

    I have a test panel at home that I practice on. 3d One is good, but usually always leaves me wishing I had done compound first as in a traditional 2 step. Uro 50/50 pads are good, but they get a lot of hype online.

    I see why the results were inconsistent, it's not the pad, but your technique respectfully...check out Brian and Apex Detail in his 3D One videos with the uro pad.

      Not only that, Tesla has been known to have some of the worst paint. Inconsistent paint thickness, finish from factory etc. Technique wise, its possible you are doing too large an area and too quick but you have sped it up I suppose. I give 3dOne a easy 9/10 with the odd difficult oily wipe off. And don't be too scared of edges with the batter DA's.

    Nice one! Can you tell us what's the mix ratio of IPA & water?

    • @JoeMartinMVC
      @JoeMartinMVC  4 месяца назад +1

      It's around a 50/50 mix of 91% IPA and water, so it's essentially a 50% blend.

    So for me this isn’t what I would’ve done. You ended up doing a two-step paint correction and it still didn’t achieve an acceptable outcome. I love 3D One but it doesn’t do great with mid range pads….it cuts well with a wool pad and polishes well with a finishing pad but not great with anything else.

      Hey, I appreciate the feedback.
      I’d say the results were… pretty decent overall, but I’ll definitely have to try it with a wool pad to see how it does on some heavier defects.
      In your experience, how does it fare with 2500 grit sanding marks with a wool pad?

    • @danlc95
      @danlc95 4 месяца назад +1

      That hasn't been my experience.
      I'm also not sure what you mean by "mid-range" pad.
      I find ONE cuts better on the B&S Uro-Fiber than their Uro-Wool. They gave me an Adam's Swirl Killer 15 to use at work. I get a lot of milage out of that combo.
      If I need more cut I switch to ACA500.
      I do find that the Rupes wool (yellow and blue) pads also work great with One.

      @@danlc95 gotcha, I still use 3D One religiously. You have cutting pads like wool and you have super soft finishing pads….everything else is mid range pads. ACA500 and PAPA CUT are my extreme cutting compounds. The cars I’m getting now usually don’t need that level of cut so 3D One is enough for 90% of my details.

      @BetterThanNewDetailing - Same here. I rarely need a dedicated compound these days. One, Menzerna 2500, and other medium type polishes work great.
      As far as pads, you might get a debate with some of the cutting foams, like the old blue Rupes foam, the old green UHS (which their current blue cutting pad is based on), and that grey LC Force pad - that thing is like a brick. My friend had one to test and it was awful.
      Some gems are foun in the mid range though. The green Buff and Shine foam in their "Grip" line does a nice amount of cutting for a foam with that much "crush" to it. I had used that foam on a rotary back in the day, and I rarely needed wool because of the work it could do.
      When I switched to a Porter Cable in 2013 I was happy to see that foam in the Chemical Guys Hex Logic range. The first time I used the PC with the green hex logic, and Ultimate Compound I actually struck through the paint on my neighbor's street rod... 🤦‍♂️I never had strike through or any burns with a rotary. It was cool, I'd known him since I was a kid, and the car was going to his grandson. I got lucky.
      The blue foam is good for polishing/finishing too.
      Have a good one!
