Sometimes with bottle caps, pulling the coil back towards you while swinging will give a different reading when the target is at the front of the coil. Sometimes a ferrous signal.
Best metal detecting channel out there. Your videos are always high quality, very well made, very informative, fun to watch and you are very professional with your machines. Thanks again.
Gary and your personalities are as attractive as the VDI numbers on the ORX on coins. You are great at this, please keep up on your channel. Thank you for your time and effort on this.
I’ve been just out getting used to my new ORX. Love it but man it hits in all targets. I have a bag full of trash. Mainly aluminum of various types. Pull rings, caps etc. this video helped me a lot. Thanks.
Thank you for the comment Ezra! I was actually pretty impressed with the ORX... I knew it was fast but the depth was really surprising with that 9" HF Coil!
I have been using the orx for the past couple of weeks and loving it, I hardly ever dig bottle caps, what I do is on an iffy debatable signal is to circle the target while swing the detector and listen to sound breaks and vdi abnormalities, that works for me very well, the one thing I would say is the tones help you determine the depth as there is no depth indicator, Gary would tell you that the depth meters are not accurate because of the target size variances, yeah but if you know what general sized targets you are attempting to dig then I would disagree. Very enjoyable to use I broke a previous clad quarter record in a hunt with the orx and got 170 smashing the old record.
Thank you for the comment Kevin! I was really impressed with this metal detector and I am Definitely going to start using it a lot more! I can see why the ORX is becoming a lot of Detectorists favorite detector! Simple, Powerful, Fast, and Effective!👍👍
For us coin hunters in the US . XP needs to address the bottle cap issue, having to change modes , then watch numbers, see if it still sounds smooth, circle the target , switch back ...... too many (what if procedures) to distinguish between BC and a quarter. With all the modern technology, XP can do a better job. This is why I sold mine ! If they ever fix this issue, I will purchase another one.
I found that if you lift the coil above the target to a height where its just about detecting the target and it starts to sound scratchy/ iron, its a bottle cap, if its a coin it will remain a stable sweet sound.
If you like running stock preset programs then stick with the ORX... if you like to customize programs and squeeze a little more performance out of the machine.. I would recommend the Deus! I can go into a lot more detail if you like just give me a call at Treasure Mountain Detectors.
Thank you for the comment! I am using the $649 version with fx-02 headphones in this video with the 9" HF coi.... to add wireless headphones its about $100 more. Let me know if you are interested and I will work you out a good deal!
Thank you for the comment! No depth meter however there may be one coming in an update at sometime.... As far as the the pinpoint feature ... yes it works great!
That XP ORX shaft is lighter than the Deus and cheaper, so when my Deus shaft breaks, I am going for the ORX shaft. Right near the end, I thought your were going to move the nails closer on the "elevated nail" test, but the video ended.
Thank you for the comment Nick! Yes the ORX shaft is lighter.. the entire detector weighs less than 2 lbs! That elevated nail test... exactly the way I have it set up... iron nails a foot a part.. 4 inches higher than the coin in the middle... is extremely difficult for about 95% of the detectors on the market believe it or not! You swing a Deus so you have nothing to worry about!
Hi Gary. Thanks for the strait shooting no nonsense informative video. Ive lost my desire as of lately to detect. U sparked it back into me! If i could I'd buy a bunch of detectors and use them and give one or two away to a young kid or two.
great advice just got the ORX thanks to XPTeamUSA and i need all the tips i can get since there is quite the curve from my CTX. i went out for a few minutes today and found a general service civil war coat button at about 9" i think once i get a few dozen hours on this machine i will miss very little. thanks for the tips and HH
Thank you for the comment Troy! I was really impressed with the ORX... very underrated machine! I knew it was fast however the depth with the stock HF 9" coil really impressed me!
I'm still waiting to get permission to bring you out to hunt on 2,700 acres of virgin land. It's been hard lately with this damn virus, but if i can get you out there, it'll be one hell of a metal detecting hunt, Ed! I'll keep you posted! And again, great video!
Thank you for the comment Selvin. I will be doing more tests very soon with the ORX and I will add Gold. It's a very impressive detector for under $1k in my opinion!
You forgot to tell that it is not waterproof or rainproof, for that price XP charges for their detectors this is outrageous. My opinion overpriced old technology in a good looking package.
Lol... exactly! I didn't realize I said it that many times until I watched it again... yeah I am going to have to work on that. Thanks for the comment!
You are doing all of this ass backwards. The only thing you should be looking for is a solid repeatable tone. DIG EVERY SOLID REPEATABLE TONE. You WANT the targets the detector doesn't recognize

Great video. I bought an ORX for a backup to my 800 because of your video. I got 8 hrs on it so far and very impressed with the machine.
I love my Nox 800 but havent pick it up in 2 weeks. The weight is amazing and the. 3 tones have nice nuance to them...
Love it!!
Thank you for the comment! Yes the Nox is an excellent all around metal detector as well!
Best metal detecting channel out there.

@@edhuffmanmetaldetecting Yeah it was crazy ED, you couldn't walk two steps with out hitting a quarter.
Love my XP ORX good video Ed !!!
Thank you for the comment! Yes I was really impressed with the ORX... excellent all around detector!
Yes it is !!!

Thank you for the comment! Yes.. I agree with you... XP's are great detectors in the iron but need a little work in the modern trash areas.
I found that if you lift the coil above the target to a height where its just about detecting the target and it starts to sound scratchy/ iron, its a bottle cap, if its a coin it will remain a stable sweet sound.
I own an orx but I am thinking of upgrading to deus1 in your opinion is it worth upgrading
Thanks Joe

Great vid Ed. Well done. Gary's Sifter program on the XP Deus does very well on the US coins here.
Thank you for the comment! Yes Gary's Sifter program is awesome!
I've had coins underneath bottle caps... all worth digging + "Subscribed" love your energy.
Thank you for the comment and welcome to the channel!
Which irx did you have for the test? The one thats 649? Or the more expesive one?

That thumbnail was on point! Just had to say it! 👍👍
Thank you for the comment Brandon!
Great info the XP ORX looks like a great machine!
Thank you for the comment! Yes I was really impressed with that detector! Super fast, excellent depth, easy to use and it weighs under 2 lbs!
Another great video Ed.
Thank you for the comment!
Does the ORX have a depth meter? Pinpoint feature?

Awesome
Thank you!
I have never heard of this metal detector. Who makes it?
Great detector... it is an XP ORX... basically a simplified XP Deus.
No gold test?
Thank you for the comment Selvin. I will be doing more tests very soon with the ORX and I will add Gold. It's a very impressive detector for under $1k in my opinion!
