The old man seems super interesting. Give Raina major props for the Violin music. What a great gal!!!
I have had many great people who were skilled in trades, that inspire me. I ended up. In dental technology as a career. So I learned lost wax casting. So while I worked on teeth, I also learned basic jewelry and machine parts casting, even made old parts to restore metal moldings. My first wife studied at Parson's school in NYC, so our home was filled with creative ideas. She passed away a few years ago, but she helped pass on the love for creating to our sons. Now I finally have a wood shop that does not need to move outside to work. Thanks for the videos. While I may not do any machining, your love for making inspires me and other to go and try.
Jimmy, You are the Mike Rowe of Making. Videos like this just show your care for makers everywhere.
I think I like the vlogs almost more than the build videos. I learn something new with every one of them.
It's taken years off you! So many projects, always fascinating to watch.
That 70 year old man looks like a badass.
That 70 year old man is not scared of Chuck Norris, Chuck Norris is scared of him. :)
from 17 to 70.... woah....
He sounds like legacy unsung.
Jeremy 505 hahahaha that sums him up perfectly
Strange his Dad was so literate yet he cant read. Dyslexia perhaps or a couple of generations previous throwback?
He should make a youtube channel
Seriously miss your build videos. Please make more, and the 1900 machine looks awesome. Film every thing from every angle. Looking forward to it.
Raina can sure play that violin. Great talent at such a young age👍
I second the fiddle complement! Something really pleasing and different on Jimmy's vlogs. Where can we hear more of her fiddling?
I usually don't dig Vlogs but I love these, they're so well made and the content is always interesting. Guess it helps to have an interesting life.
I love these vlogs, the glimpses of other makers in different disciplines are really inspiring.
The reverse stamp was clean, really clean. I wasn't expecting the linework to be so clear. I envy you Mr Diresta, love your vids and drive.
Jimmy , you are the most interesting man in the world
So strange....I was just going to say the same thing! And you are right. Hope he answers one of my craigslist ads someday!
Ori ginOfNight - Place a fake add for a cheap Bridgeport mill, and by the end of the month every maker would have called ya for a chat.
You make a point. Remembering why I rarely actually use CL. :-0)
hahahah illl be there
Fletcher is a great guy, and a remarkable metalworker - I live near him. I echo his remarks about Gordon Anderson - he was a wonderful man and amazing mechanic and machinist. Good video.
Jimmy, this video was one of the best you have ever made. What a wonderful look into your thoughts, your friends, and your interests. Thanks you so much.
Jimmy, I absolutely love your kitchen faucet! The brass looks phenomenal, and those handles are beautiful!
6:44 Free Willie!
Jimmy, I had to stop about 3/4 the way through to comment and compliment you. I really love the life these vlogs have developed. they are really getting better and better each one. loving it! Thanks for being committed to the community and your fans.
This vlog was an absolute pleasure to watch! Thanks Jimmy!

Consistent in shit screws. Thank u for keeping us updated on the building, And i'm always amazed at the amount of empty or buildings that are not used for a long time. wish i could find one where i live.
Really enjoyed the violin! Bring her back often!
Your explanations about the HERO action figure including the packaging to fun to hear, and your philosophy explanation was also great. Thanks for simply being REAL... allowing us to know what you're thinking and how you make decisions. Great stuff! Loved the violin music too!!!! Keep 'em coming! :-))
I really love the progression of the quality and style of these vlogs Jimmy! I mean WOW. This one was so capturing and smooth and lovely.
Wow. Nice playing, could easily listen to that all day.
The world needs more people lime the Craigslist dude and his collection of machinery.
The beard was getting gray anyway. Lol
Raina.... you are loaded with talents... violin, skating, baseball. Good job.
I MAKE plate is ordered!

tandy is great. If you're lucky they have a brick and mortar store in your area too. Used to go to one near Detroit
I'll dig through my power hammer stuff. I think I have a manual for the Dupont. It is a real good machine. Make sure to get the brake working. Bob
Greetings from Dorset, UK. Thanks for yet more interesting content. :)
Great vlog! I'm french and daily Opinel user... Seeing an Opinel in your video made me joyful!

Super excited for the new space man! I'm sure if anyone can fill it up.... it's you! Take care!
My neighbor fixes industrial power hammers! Amazing how much material is involved!
Good stuff as always Jimmy. Very true regarding pushing yourself by diving into projects to learn and progress. Hope to run into you some day...would be a blast to trade stories, learn new skills and create. Cheers!
👍👍👍👍👍👍 for the violinist!
Right?!?! That tone was amazing. Beautiful playing, ma'am!
Fletcher is no joke. good to see you meeting such a good bunch of NY artists.
kerrystagmer Kerry ! I am honored that your watching!! Thank you !
I wish I had known he was looking for a Rose Engine. I passed up on some very nice stuff he was selling that just might have made me think about it...
"Thank you for being consistent." I laughed.
You always seem to meet the most interesting people.
The violinist... Wow. Incredibly talented
Also, you edit your videos? I like the style!
What a great logo Jimmy. Looks Awesome . Thank You. We will be there before you know it. Time in flying by
Wish I had the time to join you at the hammer in, sad part is it's only about 20 minutes from my front door. Oh well, maybe next year. Tandy has a store front in Nyack if you get there once in a while. It's kind of nice to be able to see what you're buying instead of getting a piece of leather picked off a shelf by someone you don't know. The problem with me going to tandy is it costs me $200 every time I walk through the doors.
Your Vlog is the only one I enjoy! Keep it up Jimbo!
jimmy you are making very good video, you have evolved thru the years. Saludos.
Can't wait to see the progress of the new shop! Hope to help you out how ever I can Bro!
Great video, I have applied for an I MAKE plate in Louisiana. I will keep you posted.
Loved the violin. She brought much to taping.
this is one of your best vlogs so far !
loved the story by the old man. the music and you. (nohomo) keep it up and greetings from Germany
Man, you've got an amazing channel. Thank you.
Wait a minute...that door you installed jimmy is not secured at all, so why use a padlock? When the screws/bolts from the hinges can easily be removed?
jeanious2009 all welded.
Good luck with the move! A lot of work but always exciting to start up in a new shop :) The power hammer is awesome! I just bought my first 'real' anvil so I'm excited to do some more blacksmithing.. or what I'm calling blacksmithing at least :p
Also, I love the violin. And chickens.
love the new look jimmy
Leffler for leather in Melbourne. Amazing wharehouse sized store. They sell everything to do with leather. Finding these gems is such an asset
I'm glad the package made it to you man. Enjoy it!
+Lil Doggy thank you brother!!
Interesting update, thanks Jimmy.

Come to rapid city SD and hang out in my little shop! Iv learned so much from you the past year. Thanks for everything bro
Glad to help Jimmy! 👍
Thank you brother!
really enjoying these !!
You bring out the best in people: A rare, beautiful & inspiring talent. Thanks for sharing!
Your edits are getting so good.
nice I'm glad you got my little package cheers
arent you worried about unsavory characters popping the hinges off on an outside door like that?
I'm pretty sure they aren't gonna carry out a lathe... and plus his name is painted or etched on every part of every machine. :-D
Raina's proud subscriber. What a girl
Great to see Spike and you.LOL! Try sleep it's great for the eyes!
You need to spend a couple weeks with Fletcher, the metal worker. Wow, what an interesting man. Love the video of his shop!!!! I have no idea what most of his equipment does, but I'm impressed. It would be nice to find some young people to mentor with him so he can pass on some of the skills. Thanks Jimmy.
The violin was awesome!
When I get your channel notifications i fell happy ❤️
Love you jimmy
Great music, old machinnery, randon stories, keep doing this kind of video, they are not what we call in Brazil ''encher linguiça''.
how does jimmy not have over 2 million subscribers already?
Love the update man!!! Great video!
sunglasses...movie star syndrom!!! :D
You're still so amazing, don't worry!!!
That 70 old man...a great example!!
Lmao the cat looked like it was jamming out to the violin
great update I enjoyed it!!
Love the content, love the music!!
Jimmy!! New camera? When talking the screws out, try used a number three Phillip bit. Harder to strip the screw with that bit. Keep up the great work hope I can see you soon.
Tandy Leather is still around? As in the company that made Radio Shack, Tandy Computers, and the Tandy Center in downtown Ft Worth Tx? They started with leather, and ended with leather.
Tandy leather was right next door to radio shack where I worked as a kid. (same parent Corp, son didn't like leather so he started radio shack and bought Durrell? electronics in the same building). used to buy leather the and make wallets as a kid.
Interesting. In Australia Radio Shack were called Tandy, but definitely the same US parent company. They had a lot of stores and were competition to an Australian electronics business Dick Smith Electronics (which I think purchased the Tandy company a decade or so ago). Dick Smith Electronics went down the gurgler a few years ago now.
DRMNZ Radio Shack just closed 25 stores here in Massachusetts.
Amazing how the landscape is changing. I wonder if the Tandy leather stores with their huge range of hides and supporting paraphernalia have a greater chance of surviving?
Leather is popular with people now making their own wallets, holsters, sheath's, etc. eBay and such will probably kill their business.
DRMNZ Yeah, the current generation will buy Chinese hides tanned with the heaviest of heavy metals just to save a buck.
Did you consider sealing the concrete floor on your new shop? Concrete has a tendency to "dust" constantly which get into machinery, finishes, etc.
The video of installing those lights should include at the end you singing some Debbie Boone. Bonus points if you get the reference :-)
dude you should have a conversation with Alec Steele about your mechanical banger. he's insanely positive and his love of blacksmithing is contagious.
you look badass with the shave and glasses!
Awesome vid - so interesting!
Jimmy!!! Are you going to Maker Faire in San Fran this year? It'll be my first Maker Faire and it would be awesome to see you there!
70 years old!? W O W!
Does Taylor have a channel yet? I'd love to see her in action! I like her style.
Imagine a podcast with that movie's voice man talking about blacksmithing...
