This is amazing ! I’m going to Colorado soon and want to do this.... my ? Is how much light exposures ? How do you get the best backgrounds , I know you said flash a little light on your background but @ 3:53 you have an amazing illuminated background. How do you do this??? Amazing again! Very excited!!!
Thank you very much Wyatt. Hope you have a blast in Colorado! The background is illuminated with a flashlight, just by painting light back and forth from behind the camera. There are many factors that come into play, the lumen output of the light you are using, the setting on your camera and the speed at which you move the light. Its just a matter of having a go until you find the settings that work best for you!
There are two main ways to focus in the dark. The first is you can illuminate the space with either a bright flashlight or if you are inside turn the lights on. With the area illuminated or lights on you focus on your subject or area you want to be in focus using manual or your automatic focus. Once you pull focus on your subject or area switch your camera back to MANUAL mode and then turn the lights off. If you are outside in the dark or you don’t have a light bright enough to illuminate your subject or area you can take a flashlight and place it next to or on your subject or area where you want to focus. With your subject or area illuminated with the flashlight then you focus on your subject using manual or your automatic focus. Once you pull focus on your subject switch your camera back to MANUAL mode and then turn the lights off.
Finally got a spiral plexi to try this out. Need some more practice, so fun. Thanks Chris!
Awesome! Glad you got to give it a go. They do take some practice but once you get it down you will have the technique forever!

Awesome stuff!!! For me as a beginner at lightpainting, a question. How do you focus when you are out there alone?

Cool I always thought you used fiber optics for those figures.
You could do something similar with the White Fiber Optic, might just be a little more fur. :)
@@LightPaintingPhotography I may try it sometime.
What back pack do you use?
Te falta hablar español. Jajajaja
:)
