    Great tutorial! So just to confirm, you're using one long exposure to paint the model? Not merging multiple? I'm asking because I'm very surprised to model seems to be so clear with no motion blur, even with a long exposure. Tiny movements don't show up at all? Thanks again!

    • @LightPaintingPhotography
      @LightPaintingPhotography  4 года назад

      That is correct it is one single exposure, there is no compositing or anything like that. Just one long exposure. If your model stays as still as possible and you only illuminate them ONE single time, they should be nice and sharp.

  • @Futile_Soundscapes
    @Futile_Soundscapes 5 лет назад +3

    Awesome new tool there Jason! When you've finnished the lighting of your model with this new tool, and you begin lightpainting arround her, is it then still necessary to let her sit as still as possible to prevent a blury and moved image?

    • @LightPaintingPhotography
      @LightPaintingPhotography  5 лет назад +1

      Yes you want your model to stay as still as possible throughout the entire exposure however them remaining still is not as important as it is when they are illuminated. If they move a lot you will get a ghosting or shadow effect when you go around them with light.

    Hi Jason - I enjoyed watching your video and love the new tool. Question: in my light painting portraits I illuminate the model with a quick blast of flash and then do the light painting immediately after. Do you see any advantages to one technique over the other?

    • @LightPaintingPhotography
      @LightPaintingPhotography  5 лет назад

      I think that the Portrait light offers a much softer and more uniform glow. It acts like a beauty light when you pass it over the model. You could get a similar effect out of a modified flash with a big soft box around it or something like that but the portrait light attachment offers you more control and options because you are illuminating your model by hand.

    One you have illuminated the subject, can the subject the step out of the frame for you to light paint? Or once you have illuminated is it then a case she stays there and if she moves a little it doesn't matter..thank you

    • @LightPaintingPhotography
      @LightPaintingPhotography  Год назад

      I think it's best to have the model stay in the same general position. You could have the model step out for a very long exposure, however Light Erases Darkness, so if you are to go over an area with light where your model was then the light would erase the model from the image.

      The Folomov B4M is about $40 it fits the Universal Connector well it is 1200 lumens and has a good constant strobe. amzn.to/3oGuLK5 Frank from Light Excursion also makes Custom Lights that are great, they cost a bit more but they have more features, The best way to reach Frank is on his Instagram here: instagram.com/lightexcursion/

    • @LightPaintingPhotography
      @LightPaintingPhotography  5 лет назад

      That is tough using this technique if they are moving a lot. It would be best to pop them with a flash. You are not going to get the same illuminated by hand effect but it is possible.

    Hello,how is camera focusing in the dark??is in auto focus or manual focus mode??thanks

    • @LightPaintingPhotography
      @LightPaintingPhotography  3 года назад +1

      You always want to use manual mode when the lights go out otherwise your camera will be searching for focus. You focus with the lights on if you are in the studio or if you are out in the field somewhere you can illuminate your subject with a flashlight and focus as you normally would, but make sure your lens is on MANAUL focus before you turns the lights off.

    • @LightPaintingPhotography
      @LightPaintingPhotography  4 года назад

      @@OneAwareness1 The ghosting effect usually comes from the model moving and/or the light painter doing multiple passes of light over the model. If you are getting a ghosting effect from the light on your hand you can solve that by wearing some dark gloves.

      @@LightPaintingPhotography - One quick question...
      Trying to use a Sony Bridge camera, which does not have a BULB mode, for Long Exposure photography (slowest shutter speed 30 secs). Will an INTERVALOMETER be able to override the shutter speed set by the camera in S/M modes in this case or is maximum allowable shutter speed by the camera a hard limitation?

    • @LightPaintingPhotography
      @LightPaintingPhotography  4 года назад +1

      @@potatoesofdefiance I believe the limitation of the camera is a hard limitation. I do not think there is anyway to override that limitation. however you can create some pretty awesome images in 30 seconds, you will just need to move a bit faster, if you increase the iso to something like 400 this will increase the sensitivity of your cameras sensor and allow it to pick up the faster movements of light.
