    I purchased the Ohlins Steering Damper BMW S1000RR / HP4 2012-2019 and by mixing and matching the stock spacer and foam seals got a pretty good fit without needing to find a different spacer. Just added a washer to fine tune the length of the stock spacer on the center post. The adjustment knob goes on the left side. Thanks for all your videos on my favorite bike.

    Hi Bill, great video once again! I would like to understand if there was any steering lock limitation with this SD installed. Was it possible to steer in each direction without loading up the SD? I understand from Brocks that the SD has 70mm of travel and is 242mm long. Just wondered if you could vouch for it not restricting steering lock?

    Hey Bill- how do you think the Bitubo compares to the Hyperpro on the XR? On either of those, which one offers the least damping on setting 1? Looking for a damper that I can essentially turn off for motogymkhana type of riding but then back up to normal for higher speeds.

      I have those CRG Arrows on my 22' S1000R and they work better than the rabbit ears IMO as I can see totally behind me. The only issue with this bike and I think any mirrors is the vibrations in the bars which causes some blurriness but for checks and looking behind you while your at a stop, it works great. Just keep in mind objects are closer than they appear on these as well.

      @@5e11even check the tightness of all of the screws on the CRG Arrows mirrors. If they are properly snug, you should be able to see clearly. I have them on multiple bikes and they are very clear.

      @@_johnm I honestly think it's how vibey the S1000R bars are. My hands go kinda numb riding this bike and I am not death gripping it or anything. It is a known issues with S1000 line. I have the CRG Arrows on my MT-09 and those are clear with no issues at all.

    You went to all this touble to replace the oem with that Bitubo. Why not get an ohlins and be done with it? It's about the same work you did and i imagine there is someone for sure who has done that. Just get an ohlins with the same mm travel and done! Also its about the same price as the bitubo and looks a lot better, probably works better as well.

      @@CaliMotoTV I mean come on… one time bmw decided not to use brembo and ohlins, and all of the components failed and got recalled. S1000rr got both steering damper and calipers recall. Also some bikes got faulty rear shocks and changed them in the warranty.That never happened to companies who chose brembo and ohlins, and happens way to often too companies with other parts😂

    why do you need it? and do you really need it? Bitubo is a good italian company and did the job very well but I'm afraid the problem is not the bike...just tested my s1000r 2021 on cremona circuit in italy and the bike feel good in standard setting on high speed turn (over 150 kmh) and I'm a low level rider...you did a very fantastic job in your video and I saw them every time but I'm afraid you spend money for nothing...why don't you replace rear sets instead of steering dumper? you could push with your legs on turn and have a better feedback and feeling...dumper is the last component to change...compliment again for the video

    • @CaliMotoTV
      @CaliMotoTV  2 года назад +2

      It's not really about the corner itself but more so about the corner exit. Would very much prefer not to get tank slappers especially on the street when hitting bumps.
      Also, per your own statement, it maybe fine for a lower level rider, but at out pace / weight / preference in riding style it was necessary.

    • @andreaferrario3514
      @andreaferrario3514 2 года назад

      I think the replace of the damper will not help you and you will loose the natural agility speed of the bike. After a placebo effect the risk will be to come back on a setting very closed to the original one. In daily use damper and rearset could not be used.... I have a different opinion on track days: before the damber there is a big necessity to replace the foot pad because with the original one you can not push with legs. The bike is a wonderful all round use friendly bike very different to the italians V4. Compliments again for your videos...very interesting to watch very good work💪
