Imagine prefix
Generic Positions
- Top: Sound
- Middle: Writing
- Bottom: Meaning
White: Same
- Top: Same sound = Homophone
- Middle: Same writing
- Bottom: Same meaning = Synonym
Black: Reverse
- Top: Reverse sound
- Middle: Reverse writing
- Bottom: Reverse meaning = Antonym
Red: Reduced
- Top: Reduced sound (remove sounds)
- Middle: Reduced writing (remove letters)
- Bottom: Reduced meaning (smaller part)
For top blocks, you keep getting hung up on the writing, when only the sounds matter.
The reason "sign" got reduced to "sigh" is: Sign = "S"/"Igh"/"N". Remove the N sound, and you get "S"/"Igh" = sigh.
"Gel" isn't "Gh"/"Eh"/"L", but "Dj"/"Eh"/"L", so it doesn't rearrange into "L"/"Eh"/"Gh" = leg, but "L"/"Eh"/"Dj" = ledge.
This makes so much sense
How would it work for Blue though as Blue appears to be Add (opposite of Red)
So Top would be Add sound
Middle would be add letters
But what about bottom Blue? Add meaning?
@@Dkgow We haven't seen it yet, but I would imagine blue is "expand". Similarly to how red "reduces" the meaning by zooming in on a smaller part, blue "expands" the meaning by zooming out to a greater whole. For instance, finger -> hand.

Youre removing sounds, not removing sounds and making a similar sounding word. That’s why Sign becomes Sigh.
You aren’t removing any letters at all, and Sigh isn’t directly a part of Sign, but Sign contains the sounds that make Sigh.

-nym means name, like antonym and synonym, and -phone means sound, like in phonograph and telephone. So homonyms are two words with the same "name" or the same spelling, but mean different things, while homophones sound the same, even though they're spelled differently

no, -graph refers to its spelling, -nym is its meaning. Read and Read are homographs.
@OlexaYT Top, Middle, Bottom have their own rules, and colors have rules as well, but they are completely independent. ie. you can apply the "top" rule to ANY of the colors and the logic will always hold. edit: just finished the vid and seems like you got this figured out already :)

@@demuscotecomay It really should be a double block with one blue one green for both "add" (blue) and "environmental" (green) to make it clearer although it wouldn't have helped since Olexa hasn't visited green yet.

the left box meant to do something in front of the word the right box meant do to something after the word
Working out the connection between some of the clues is so satisfying. Everything becomes so much simpler, which was great for me since I almost ran out of space on the page I wrote the clues on. And it's a lot more straightforward than a bunch of clues being "homonyms".
Take a shot every time Olexa says Homonym instead of Homophone

This game is really inspiring when you think about how complex and enthralling it is, with some incredibly simple mechanics (move, turn, type). I hope this gets 1000 likes again because I really want to see you finish this game! Also "Sign" broke my brain and I have no idea how you worked that out 😅
definitely trial and error which is a big part of this game. but you eventually start seeing the patterns and it all makes sense in retrospect
It's too bad this game uses so much non Euclidean pathing, cause I know it can be almost impossible for some people to navigate the game even if they like the word aspect. I like to think I have above average spatial reasoning so it's not bad for me, but I have a friend that gave up because they couldn't figure out how to get to the places they wanted and just wandered in circles forever.
Also I'm glad he's picking up on the rules pretty fast. Normally it's a bit frustrating not seeing people pick up these things, but I know this game can be pretty hard to come to a full and correct understanding of exactly how each dimension of the rules apply, so slow progress is good :D
I mean, just look at where you're going and think "have I been here before?" If you don't think so and then end up in the same place a minute later then just take a different path
It isn't so much spatial awareness as it is just memory, gotta keep in mind that sometimes the walls are just suggestions
@bbittercoffee that's true for just "not getting stuck," but it can be awfully complicated if you know there is one specific place you want to get to with an unsolved puzzle. You can't really map where it is in normal space. You almost have to map a sequence of steps to get there instead.
4:56 i suggest making it a combo key like alt+= that way you can still use that key but you have to flip open the cover on your big red doomsday button before you can press it!

Terribly sorry if you get spoiled by some comments, but sadly that’s just the reality of puzzle games. Nevertheless I am thoroughly enjoying this series as lingo is easily my favorite game of all time, and I really hope you’re enjoying it too!

i think the main thing putting me off from this game is the sound puzzles
they're a bit too obtuse
I think it might be good to view the position as the same with varying effects on each colour, middle is basic top only cares about sound and bottom definition. Also i think there might be a relationship between certain colours as purple seems like both red and blue at once

ok i dont have any experience with this game other than your series but i do love it so heres some rule hypotheses:
yt puts four lines before a readmore right? this should be sufficient.
so i think position essentially gives the noun, and color gives the verb.
top = sound, mid = letter, bot = meaning?
white = keep, black = reverse, red = remove, blue = add, yellow = rearrange, purple = red+blue = remove and add?? maybe?? i think i dont fully understand purple. if i do, though, theres a green hall so presumably theres green which would be yellow+blue = rearrange and add. and an orange ceiling implies orange which would be yellow+red = rearrange and remove?
the funny thing is that i still cant solve most of these before olexa does. like the anagrams stump me on a regular basis even tho i know what they are
