If you guys are considering Edf planes to build, a great duo would be the F-86 Sabre and the Mig-15 from the Korean War of 1950 to 1953. Both of these jet warbirds are really iconic designs, having incorporated many technologies developed by German aircraft designers, such as Willy Messerschmitt, during the Second World War, making them cutting edge technology in the late 1940s/ early 1950s. Plus the two planes were flown by the greatest pilots of the era. The F-86 was flown by Edwin "Buzz" Aldrin, of Apollo 11 fame, and the Mig-15 was flown by Yuri Gagarin, the first person in space. ( Indeed the latter was killed in a Mig-15 crash in 1968, only seven years after his spaceflight).
Anyway great work as always, and cannot wait for plans of the X-29

Psyched to see Andres again. On top of being a cool guy and a great designer, he's got the same easy confidence on camera as Bixler and Alex. I'm also glad that the FT STEM program is continuing to get such strong support. It's something I hope my daughters can benefit from in the future.

Forward-swept wings are absolutely made for high-alpha flight. The original X-29 got up to some pretty impressive angles. Though I think its canards acted as actual control surfaces, rather than just providing lift. Who knows, get those canards moving and you might be able to replicate its high-alpha performance (and that would also probably solve its lack of pitch response).

You should add elevons to the square part at the end, that's how the real one was and the way the forward swept wings work is they channel air to those controls and help with high alpha control a lot

The Grumman X-29 is actually a composite aircraft made with parts from various aircraft such as the McDonnell Douglas F/A-18 Hornet. The flight surface actuators and main landing gear struts are from the General Dynamics F-16A. Its fuselage and forward landing gear is from a recyled Northrop F-5A. The aircrafts main purpose (of course) was to test the feasibility of a modern forward swept wing fighter aircraft. Many test were conducted during the flight program. And a random fact about the X-29, its onboard computers control the movement of the aircraft correcting flight angles when needed. If the computers shut down, the aircraft would fall out of the air like a brick...

Have you thought about building a catapult similar to the one used for the V-1? Wouldn't be difficult with a pulley/rubber band system and some Teflon skids to prevent wear (could even use chair leg skids).
I'd imagine using a foot release, you could get some really consistent launches.

Hi, guys. I stumbled over your channel several weeks ago and have become a fan. You've put the fun back in flying and I love it. Over the course of an aviation career spanning 55 years, including 27 years as a U.S. Air Force fighter pilot, followed by another 15 years as a charter pilot primarily flying Cessna 411s an 421s , you now have me interested in R/C models. I've never flown one, my closest approach being some U-control models several years ago. The electric motors look much more interesting than the gas engines in my U-controls. Of special interest to me are the F-104 Starfighter and the Cessna 421. The 104 was a real blast to fly. Do you know of any models of either of these planes? I'm not really finding what I want on the Internet. I also flew the F-111 for about 20 years of my USAF career, but I suspect building the swing-wing might be a little tough to manage well. The 111 was quietly the best weapons platform ever built, in my opinion. So, any words of wisdom for me?

Awesome!!!! Planning on making this with my eldest daughter this weekend. The news about working with Motion RC, best news I've heard in a loooong time. For me, Motion RC are the best bar none!!! And that's coming from me, at home, in Cwmbran, Wales, UK.
Love it in the Russian black n red!!!
Will you be reviewing Motion RC's Flightline planes? Almost all of my dream planes are made by flightline. So badly want their Olive green P38 and would love to have the Goshawk too.
Keep up the great work all
    Kindest regards
    Dean
