- A short, effective warmup for players of all ages, levels, and pitched tubas. When you haven't got time for a relaxed and leisurely warmup...it's time for the "Dirty Thirty"
A pdf version of the music for this warmup will be available on my new website: chrisolka.com in the online store.

Finally, a warm up routine that factors in the morning dump. Thank you Mr. Olka.
🤣
As someone who just turned "Dirty Thirty" this year I highly recommend this warmup for the lazy millennial tubist. Pairs great with avocado toast and crippling student loan debt.
I just got the pdf, a steal at 1.99! If anyone else is considering buying it go for it, it is great.
Great stuff!
Amazing as always, Mr. Olka!
Your microphone sounds absolutely unbelievable!
Great warm-up and demonstration. Thank you!
This is a very effective warm up that I have done a number of times. Thank you Chris
Can you imagine this man on a conn 20K???
Thank Chris for such a clear and precise warm-up. As usually your explanations and demos were great.
From a link below there apparently is a PDF. Where can I find them ? When you have time I would love to hear the explanation and demo of how you get to use your tuning slides the way you do. I have searched for written explanations to no avail. I haven't seen other players use them as often( as effectively as you do).Thanks. Neville
I think the reason Chris tends to not write out his exercises is that in addition to the physical challenge of playing exercise 'x', there is an aural component that becomes a challenge either through modulating keys or expanding intervals. It is much more challenging to play an exercise when thinking about patterns rather than reading the music on the page, and that's part of the exercise itself. Also, the slide movement is simply for pitch. Playing 1 + 3 without pulling either 1 or 3 would be quite sharp by default on most brass instruments. You see this a lot with trumpet players, especially around their C and B naturals (and on C tuba D natural and D flat). I'm no Chris Olka but I hope this helps!
Neville, thanks for your kind words. Here's the link: chrisolka.com/index.php/product/the-dirty-thirty/
@@cheers623 Thanks very much Chris. Neville
@@jhirshtuba3852 Thanks for your comments. Yes I do understand the comment re the Aural aspect- it's just that having taken Tuba up latter in life I tend to be very much visual learner, However your point is well made.
As for the use of the Tuning slide , again I do understand what you have mentioned- it is just that Chris is in constant motion with his slides and I have never seen this done to such an extent before. Again many thanks for responding. Neville
How is his low range so nuts
Years and years and years of practice with good technique
practice duh!
He totally sends it in the low register
Spending a lot of time down there!
