    Donations
    I am not comfortable adding this to my site or RUclips channel. I receive many emails and messages asking me how people can help support The Art Gear Guide, mainly I think due to the fact that I purchase all of the supplies myself, except those sent directly from companies kind enough to do so. I have decided to add a donations button to my site, however, I feel the best way to add such a campaign is as follows, all donations made will be used to purchase art products for review, however, all products purchased using donated funds, after they have been reviewed, will be used as giveaways to subscribers of the RUclips Channel, the web site or any of the above social media platforms. This way I personally will not benefit from financial donations. I have set this channel and site up for my own enjoyment and not profitable gain. I feel with this support method, everyone wins but not in a financial.

    My Own Personal Art
    I would not exactly call myself an artist in the true sense of the word, however I absolutely love art as it has helped me immensely dealing with clinical depression due to my battle with constant chronic pain and disability. Follow the link to check out my own projects bit.ly/2qAa7BN
    Thank You
    Finally, thank you so much for all of your support, without all of you, this channel and The Art Gear Guide would simply not be the same.
    Thank you so much.

    Honestly. This seems kind of like a half-hearted cash in. I got some of the sketching set, and the white is so crumbly. They use made up color names, not pigment names, don't supply pigment information, don't supply lightfast information. They are cheaper than say the Derwents, but were people really asking for a 'Cotman' brand pencil?
    Maybe they are a good entry point for people who want the reassurance a brand like Winsor & Newton offer, but to me they will be the same market space as the Bruynzeel pencils.

    I love using these pencils. 😊They are versatile. I agree the watercolour pencils should have a indication that they are watersoluble.

    Thanks for the review Harry. Very helpful in making me think W&N paints are the ones to get. I have just looked at someone who reviewed 25 different options for watercolour pencils. It was a very honest review and she placed W&N the 4th!!! best - way above some more expensive ones like Derwent which came almost bottom. She is the woman who runs Color Bliss with her husband Steve. I cannot remember her name, but it is definitely worth backs up what you are saying.

      Thank you Becky, you are so right, once the pigments were activated with water they came to life. Thank you so much for your comment and support.

    Harry I’m sure that these are going to be good watercolour pencils especially for someone just starting out, I have Winsor and Newton watercolours both artist professional and cotman and they are outstanding, actually the standard of their cotman paints is extremely high. So if the same pigment has gone into these pencils they are going to be very good indeed. As always thsnkyou for giving a good honest and balanced review

    I've got these and also the coloured pencils set. What I cannot understand, is that there is still nothing at all on the W&N website about either pencil.

    • @TheArtGearGuide
      @TheArtGearGuide  5 лет назад

      Hi Annie, I completely understand what you mean, i have no idea why there is nothing on their website about the pencils, the only thing I can come up with is that Winsor and Newton are not 100% sure about this line of products and they are testing the publics reaction. If it is a sustainable line then they will start advertising them on their main site, if not, then they can quite production and not actually have too much explaining to do. You can’t even purchase the pencils from their website, you have to get them from third parties. I can totally see their point from a business point of view and I hope that they do continue with the range perhaps even expand it because they are beautiful pencils. Thank you so much

      After I'd watched this video, I sent an email to Winsor & Newton about the pencils. I received a reply with a very brief message stating "Thank you for contacting Winsor & Newton. Our website will be updated soon. You will find more informations on our products at this moment." So, I'm still no wiser LOL 😂. Yes, you're probably correct in what you say, that they are testing the water ☺️

    Hi, I highly disappointed of this pencils, i bought it two weeks ago and the quality is good, but I feel it a deja vu while swatched it. The colors are exactly the same like bruynzeel color design. Both had 48 colors, the same colors and texture.

    Very useful review (of course - they always are) and I'd not heard these were out. Best of all the written review linked to a site where I could buy them. I am an urban sketcher and watercoloured pencils are so much handier for me. Thank you so much. And I very much agree it would be great to put the watercolour brush symbol on them.

      Thank you so much for your kind comment and I am so glad that this review has helped you in some way, I have to say, I get the most satisfaction from doing these reviews when I hear from people that they have actually benefited from watching or reading the review. For me that is worth so much more than ad revenue and huge subscriber numbers, just the fact that people enjoy the reviews is my payment. Thank you so much for your support and comment I really appreciate it.

      @@TheArtGearGuide that missing watercolour symbol was going to be a tiny issue when I couldn't remember which was which and the tins were identical. And I was foolish enough to throw out the packaging. No problem, rewatch my favourite reviewer and I'm sorted. 😁👍👍

    Hi, Thanks for the review. Would like to know how these compare with the Faber Castell Goldfaber colored pencil and watercolor pencil. Maybe u can do a comparison of color charts for colored pencil and one on watercolor pencils of all the brands u have reviewed so far.

    Thanks for the review Harry I love Winsor & Newton watercolour pans, I actually bought the Stabilo Aquacolor pencils after seeing your review on them and I absolutely love the quality and pigments. The price for 24 was exceptional value. I've just noticed the price of the Winsor & Newton compared to the Stabilo, I'm curious about the light fast 🤔😁 Thanks for another honest review 👌👍

    Hi Harry! Love the review. I really wish W&N would come out with the lightfastness, I really believe that they would take off a lot more with that information available. I will be waiting on that information before I purchase.

    Just got the Faber Castell watercolor pencils 36 count but no flesh colors I was so 😡 I had to order 3 light medium and dark flesh watercolor pencils on Amazon 14 bucks smh but they are great I love them....

    I have seen them but I’m skeptical about the lightfastness versus other brands like faber and caran dache

    • @TheArtGearGuide
      @TheArtGearGuide  5 лет назад +1

      Hi Evie, as things stand you are right to be skeptical about the lightfastness of them because Winsor and Newton have not done any testing of them. From what I can gather, W&N have used these small set to dip their toes into the colored pencil realm and are waiting to see what the public response is to their pencils. If W&N like what they hear and their sales are promising, I think the plan is to add larger sets and to complete the likes of lightfast testing.
      However regardless of the lightfast results, the pencils I have tested from W&N in this review are really nice pencils, but I compare them to other sets in that price range. They are not at all comparable to Polychromos or Luminance if that is what you meant by Faber and Caran D’Ache. The overall quality is not the same at all, but then again either is the price tag.
      Thank you so much for your comment and I hope I have been able to help you out a wee bit. Thank you so much.

    Looks like after adding the water you don't see the pencil marks still on the paper wich happens with alot of watercolor pencils.

    Hi Harry another brilliant indepth review, love the richness of these and how fast they turn to paint. I too use the palette board from Caran dache it so good.
    One question I use the Faber castel Albrecht durers which I have just started collecting; do you have any idea how these compare to these?
    I have the Windsor and Newton Cotman 49 set which I love, so Im now tempted to try these too eeep!

    • @TheArtGearGuide
      @TheArtGearGuide  5 лет назад +2

      Hi, thank you so much for your comment, they are very similar to the Faber Castell Albrecht Durer, if i was really pushed I would say that the Faber Castell are slightly more pigmented than the Winsor & Newton, but then the Winsor & Newton hold a point much better. But all in all they are both very similar. Thank you so much.

      @@TheArtGearGuide I don't think my colorbook pages will end up in some gallery. Most of them, is in the book. So the light will not bother them anyways.
      And if I want to make something for a wall, I have other brands that covers that. ;) But for on the go, like when kiddo have football cup or something like that, they look to be perfect :D

    So, in other words, Winsor & Newton wants me to beta-test their new product? No, thanks. Come up with a real deal of artist-grade pencils like 'Museum Aquarell', Albrecht Dürer' or similar and then we'll talk. Seems just like jumping on "that" pencil train right now. Especially loved that "I asked the lady from Winsor&Newton... and she said: this is something they are going to be doing..." comment on them. By the way, Schmincke Horadam watercolours beat any W&N out of the water any day (for me). But I still wouldn't praise Schmincke being leading edge in watercolour, - I just like them and their dedication for lightfastness. IMHO. :)
