    Great review.
    True story:
    I was at a wedding last summer seated next to a stranger (female). She was dressed very elegantly in a spaghetti strap black and white satin dress, a thin woman who had an athletic build, but still delicate. Long hair, brown w/ highlights. She was beautiful and she smelled amazing. Powder, incense, spice-- enchanting. We introduced ourselves and had nice, light conversation. I didn't want to seem too interested since her husband was on her other side. Eventually I asked her what perfume she was wearing. "Shalimar," she answered with a smile that could melt butter. She added that she had been wearing Shalimar forever.
    An amazing perfume that fit her perfectly.

    I first discovered Shalimar as a teen. My grandmother had an ancient bottle of it stuck way in the back of a dresser drawer. It only had about an inch left in the bottle and it had darkened with age. Intrigued, I uncapped it, smelled it and fell in love. This was in the late 1970's when most girls my age were wearing scents like Jontue, Candid, Loves Baby Soft & Charlie. Shalimar was nothing like anything I had ever experienced. Its clean, but mysterious, decadent that whispers sexuality but equally bright with an innocence that wakens the little girl in all women. Shalimar is seductive and wonderful and completely unique.
    Its not for everyone but for those of us that answer to its call, its a forever thing.

    I love Shalimar so much. When I decided to get a perfume bottle tattoo, I needed something classic and immediately recognizable yet timeless. So I chose a bottle of Shalimar surrounded by beautiful flowers. This perfume is amazing! Great review!

    This scent really changes with the wearer. It dries a bit powdery on me, then quickly becomes warm, soft and, oddly, clean. I wear the au de toilette during the day. I have worn it since I was a teen, off and on for 40 years. I would say rather than "mature," that it is one worn by people who are self confident. I would try it first because it does not work for everyone, but when it does, it is special. Just found your channel, and love it!

    I bought Shalimar today. At first I thought maybe I’d made a big mistake. Initially, it smelled a bit weird. BUT … omg … after about 10-15 minutes … HEAVENLY !!! Very sensuous. Absolutely love it …❤️

    You did a superb job reviewing this fragrance. I just bought it, but first
    I wanted to listen to a review. You came up first. Now I do not need to
    watch another. Your review of the notes were perfect. I could smell
    each one. The background history was lovely also.
    Now that I know what I am looking for I can open it and smell it.
    I will think of the gardens of the Taj Mahal. Peace and beauty to all.

    I recommend you try Guerlain's classics like L'Heure Bleu, Samsara, Vold De Nuit, or the oddly unique Mitsouko!! I love your vid, how you deliver your speech is just chill vibes asf. 😍

      Yes those definitely sound like good ones because I’m a fan of Guerlain. I have a bottle of Samsara. But Shalamar is a definite no. I wore in high school and never again for good reason. Way too powdery

    Hi there, a very nice review, I have a question about the scent. I have heard that shalimar & chanel 5 are almost identical as far as concerned the scents, I would like to know what's is your opinion about it.

    • @NidhuvanNagari
      @NidhuvanNagari 5 лет назад +8

      Hi I know the question was not directed at me , but I collect perfumes and own both and Shalimar and Chanel No5 are nothing at all alike, and two completely different olfactory experiences. Chanel 5 to me is full of floral's and aldehydes , while Shalimar is very deep, smoky and musky with Vanilla , leather and a lot of fruit in the opening notes, Bergamont and Orange.

      I love Terra-cotta Le Parfum! I was wondering if I should try Shalimar as well

    • @NatalieM50
      @NatalieM50 3 года назад +1

      @@iam_loved1686 I actually bought Terracotta this past summer and completely love it. It’s a fantastic scent for summer and I feel like I could probably wear it every day. I wish it lasted longer though. Having become obsessed with perfume reviews over the last few months I have been reading a lot about Shalimar and just bought it yesterday. I would have to say that it is completely different from Terracotta. I sprayed the tester on me but bought the bottle and I have not yet opened it. Initially I liked the smell and then shortly afterward I found the powder notes came out stronger on me than the other notes. I tend to like strong, spicy sense, but not powdery scents. Not sure why the powder was prominent on me. Then I started to debate whether I would actually want to wear this perfume. However, after a couple of hours the powder note seemed to disappear and I started to like the scent more, and reconsider. I have read a few reviews that indicate you need to try Shalimar a number of times and then you will fall in love with it. But I do think it is unique and quite different compared to anything else. I think I’m going to open the package and give it a try. Keep in mind the weather at this time is also fairly warm, 20°C, and therefore it might be far more enjoyable and improve on my skin as it starts to get a little colder.
      Uh oh…. I just read another reviewer here, who commented on this video, who said that the baby powder scent on her was very strong and it did not go away. Now I am also reconsidering whether I should open the package and give it a try! 😬

    I love orientals and own dozens of high end parfums and I do have this one, given to me as a gift by a boyfriend about 4 yrs ago, but I do not like it, to me it smells like baby powder, then later after the dry down I get baby powder combined with citrus. I have many many much more beautiful smelling and incredible parfums. This one is my least favorite. I don’t get the hype. The top ingredients are nothing special in this overhyped parfum. Not worthy of the hype..I actually wore it to Church and somebody asked me if I have baby powder on. That right there told me it’s not just me, others smell baby powder. I’m gonna give it away. My sister seems to like it, she can have it. I’ll stick with my Dior Addict and the incredibly beautiful Amouage Lilac Love which is my signature scent, i never wanna be without this amazing scent. But Shalimar, a huge disappointment. IMHO

      Have you ever tried Amouage Fate for women? I absolutely love Lilac Love, but sadly it is very weak on my skin, so I use it when I have to be subtle with my perfume presence, lol.

    It’s awful if you don’t like super powdery perfumes. Old is the word. It’s what your grandmother’s mother would wear. True There is nothing floral about it. If you don’t like powdery you will not like this one! I wore it my senior year of high school back in the late 80s and never again. Try Dior’s Dune. Soft and sexy and not as powdery as Shalamar.
