    After having started collecting about two years ago, I've truly started to appreciate the classic/aldehydic (womens) fragrances , which could be considered genderless these days. Fragrances such as Estee Lauder's Knowing, Cabochard Grès etc. I've been circling Shalimar LIKE A SHARK for weeks now, but haven't "pulled the trigger " yet. Im trying to find a sample of the edp. Anyhow, GREAT review😊 Subscribed

    Love this comparison. I recently purchased a bottle of EDC from TJ Maxx and you inspired me to wear it today. I am in love with the incense notes I get with the EDC and excited to try the others in this legendary line.

    From the vintage fregrances Shalimar EDT is my favorite. I do want to try the colon since I love the dark notes in Shalimar. The Souffle Intense is also great, the EDP is lighter but the EDP is deeper and very unisex. Great video 👍

      omgoodness Soufle Intense smells divine! 🤩If you thought Souffle De Parfum was lacking like to me it was just lemon and musk. I wasnt thrilled but the intense I can't recommend enough. 💕
      The citrus with the vanilla's, with the benzoin omg it smells amazing. 🥰The jasmine and the orange blossom smell so raw and earthy.🏵🌸 Mixed with the musk I cannot recommend this enough. Plus the bottle is beautiful. 😍
      The dry down on my skin is so good. It lasts for hours I'd say 8-10 plus the sillage is not overwhelming. It's just enough plus the next day I can still smell a faint trace of the incense like benzoin the Guerlain vanilla and musk.
      This flanker is so worth it. It only come in 1.7oz so I plan to stock up. Too me it's one of the best Shalimar sisters in a long time.💜

      @@scentremix6201 if you want to try the edc I recommend the old watch Flacons. You can find them on eBay for very good prices. The reason I recommend the vintage even up to the 80's to early 90's. Is because it ages beautifully. Also you can get the older for a great price thanks to the fact. Most Shalimar on eBay is the edc.
      Also the vintage has more fragrance oil so for an old edc you can get the strength of an edt. Just my experience also if you're not fond of the leather in the OG. This one is more citrus and "fresh". So it's a proper cologne in terms of the typical format. I personally like it alot.

    Shalimar Parfum Initial L'eau was my scent of the day! It's a softer version of the original. A little difficult in the opening (for me) but the dry down is heavenly.

    • @scentremix6201
      @scentremix6201  3 года назад

      What's your take on the OG Initial? I see it has a caramel note but I've been told it is really downplayed. And how does the iris come across in both the OG and L'eau? Just wondering, bc they may the ones I look into next. Also interested in Souffle Intense...

    • @Thee.Lyoness
      @Thee.Lyoness 3 года назад +1

      @@scentremix6201 I actually haven't tried the OG Initial but L'eau has a soft, powdery iris and, on me, I get a lot of leather which has more of an ultra soft, suede-like texture on my skin🥰 It makes me feel soft and approachable.

      @@scentremix6201 It is. I checked the notes and there is no suede or leather involved here. It must just be the texture it gives me that puts off a soft suede vibe.

      Initial to me is an excellent perfume. I was so upset when it was dc'd. This one smells closest to the OG Shalimar. The main noticeable note to me is the patchouli. Too me I don't smell the caramel per say. Yet I do notice a sweetness. It's quite lovely lasts a very long time and the bergamont is really good in this. In the dry down you can still smell it. The Guerlainaide is there as well with the vanilla. This is very good but expensive on eBay.

    I adore Shalimar and am kind of obsessed with collecting it. I have the vintage edt's a few spray bottles and the 1960's one is so close to the extraits. I also just found 2 of the big edt bottles for a great price. This is and was my Grandma's favorite. It's mine as well it's timeless and is just so good. 💜

    • @scentremix6201
      @scentremix6201  3 года назад +1

      Thanks for sharing your Shalimar experience! So that's pretty interesting and worth investigating... the older bottle you have from the 60's is pretty close to the Extrait, you feel?

    • @Dan_Alien
      @Dan_Alien 3 года назад +1

      @@scentremix6201 Yes, I think so because the older edt's I've come across over time seem to be stronger than today's edp. I have to specify 60's and 70's are the years I've smelled. I do have a very old rosebud 7ml that could be 50's but that has a more boozy vanilla compared to the extrait. Which in the bat bottle the bergamont is very strong. I just got a small spray bottle that came in the black and white zebra box the back said 68 it might be 63 I'm writing early in the dark because of insomnia lol. But that 1ounce spray bottle smelled so close to my 60's extraits. When I sprayed it I couldn't believe it.
      Plus the old edt glass big bottles both with zebra box but that's mute really. Dating with boxes is tricky but because the edt is so old and there was no edp till the 90's so the old edt's can and are stronger than the edp. Also juice color is key I go by color and the older with more evaporation the better and stronger the scent imo. I should make a video so I can show my Shalimar's and tell the difference. But I think this video is excellent!👍🏻
      I just wish there was a way for me to show you some pictures. Btw the edt I recommend if you want to try one out is A. Get a decant or look for the big glass dolphin bottles. I have 2 100mls with the black and white zebra box. Any questions I'd be happy to answer. I've been studying Shalimar for awhile now and it's quite the learning process. Your video is so helpful so thank you!😁

    Great comparison!
    I was at a wedding reception about 3 years ago seated at a table with a couple. The wife was next to me, and her husband next to her. She was attractive and friendly. We were talking and eating and drinking. Every once in a while, I would get a beautiful waft of her perfume. It was spicy and incensy and powdery. Finally I mustered up enough courage to ask her what she was wearing. She smiled and said, “Shalimar,” and that she had worn the same perfume since her days in college. It was truly captivating. Not sure what concentration, but I was smitten.
