It's one if my heavier fragrances, as I normally am a floral light scent girl. There is something so unique and calming on the dry down, it feels secure and loving. I love how it stays on my clothes or scarfs.
Shalimar is a goal for me. I never thought I would ever enjoy Oud, or cinnamon, or clove in perfumes, and I now do. The unique notes of Shalimar that made me wonder, “who would want to smell like this?!”, might be less odd to me now that I used Covid year to blind buy. I enjoyed the comment about it smelling like her Great Grandma’s drawers. I wonder what scent memory my future grandchildren and great grandchildren will have of me, and my drawers! Like you, Veronica I wear different scents daily, so it will probably be the scent of “ a mall”.
The scent of a "mall" 😂😂😂 Oh my goodness. I agree that Shalimar would have been far more challenging pre-COVID than now. I too have been sampling and trying so much that I am open to many different types of scents.
I love Shalimar been wearing it since 14 i am now 20 . I found it to smell like the early 1900s would smell classical scent. I also have lheure bleue another classic perfume.
The Shalimar bottle is so perfect. The OG reminds me of my Great Grand mothers closet and lingerie drawer. I was thinking of getting a bottle to scent my closet and drawers as well.
You're totally right! I get obsessed with Shalimar. Forget about it for a while. Only to get re-obsessed months later. The vintage cologne is a joy, and can still be found fairly cheaply. The Shalimar cologne edt is in my top 5 for life though. But really, every concentration I have is beautiful. I love your review style! Thanks for putting out such great content.
Hi Elsie, thank you so much!! 💖💖💖 I love hearing that you enjoy all the concentrations. It's such an iconic perfume. Deserves attention and respect for sure!
In my opinion the best formulation of Shalimar was from the mid 80s. The EDT from the 80s is actually my favorite and maybe one of my most prized perfumes in my collection is a giant 6 Oz vintage 1985 EDT bottle. This most current formulation has this loud leather note that really sticks in my nose and I don’t like that. I would wear this, but I would go for the 80s vintage even for the EDP. And weirdly I wore the EDT when I was in my early 20s, it was my signature scent, and a lot of people told me I smelled like “lemon baby powder” and I loved it!
Wow lemon baby powder! 😁 I agree the 80s version is much better, although isn't that the case with most reformulated perfumes? Ah... the woes of perfume collecting. 🤷♀️
Good morning! I love shalimar so much!! I have been wearing mine heavily! I have to stop because I just got a small one in tjmaxx!! It’s amazing perfume! Great video my dear!! 🤗
I’ve always had a Shalimar; I prefer to spray on my clothes hours before leaving the house,it softens and definitely has an elegance this way .🙋🏻♀️🇦🇺❤️🧡Stani
Hi Veronica 😃 I have Shalimar & looooove it. I just have to be in the mood for it though plus it has to be a bit chilly. Definitely grown & sophisticated Queen perfume…. like us! 😉😅 It was my scent of the day yesterday…. It rained most of the day here in the part of Switzerland that we live. Wearing Shalimar made sense. Happy Easter Monday gorgeous 😃🤗🤗
You're so brave. From what I remember from the 80s, this one is, as you say, challenging. It's in the same vein to me as Samsara, but is that right? I need to refresh my memory and give these classics a chance now that I'm starting to begin to almost have a tiny understanding of what I like in perfumery. Thank you for your profound impact only journey my teacher, my friend and my scent sibling. Did you end up SEEing The SAW?
Not quite like Samsara, but definitely in the same league of strong fragrances from that time period. We didn't SEE SAW (see what I did there?). We did see A Quiet Place 2. Awesome!! Thank you so much. 💖💖💖
This scent is pure incense to me. I like it, just not on myself. It’s a scent I enjoy smelling around me, like an air freshener. I’m wondering if it layers well with any other scents.
Hi Amanda, I have not tried to layer it, but I wonder how it would play with either a very strong oud OR a light citrus. Would love to bring the citrus out more.
Lot of perfume reviewers I watch can't seem to wear the Eau de Parfum...I really want to try the cologne version as well...It's the one that more people seem to enjoy and find it more wearable
I now own this......finally. I've been wearing it ALOT. Shalimar chooses you you do NOT choose shalimar. Look out for my " vintage starlett" review on this. I have ALOT to say.....as always Veronica lol 😆 😂
shalimar is a fragrance that I tried and wore a few times in my twenties. I did not really care for it then and after that I never really paid it much attention. Recently I have been searching for something to wear other then my chanel #5. I have tried many floral and fruity and modern fragrances and they leave me disappointed. Not that they are not beautiful. Many are. But, they have no staying power. They are weak and wear off within a NY minute. Why pay the extravagant prices for something that does not hang around. What is the point? So, I went back in time to the classics like my Chanel is. I decided to try Shalimar again and now I am in love with it. It stays forever. It has complex notes and has the floral and the spice with it. It is sophisticated and yummy and just feels like a perfume should like #5 does. Many harp on grandma scents. Well, that's because these are classics that fill the void that modern perfumes do not fill. They leave so much to be desired unless you are under 18. They stood the test of time and are still running strong. They are grandmas because they have been around since before she was born. It is like a very expensive wine or a movie like Casablanca. It is the classic of perfumes like Joy or #5 or like White Shoulders or Youth Dew. The moderns come and go but, these are still around and out selling the others.
Potential idea for future videos: a top 10 / top 5 of "x fragrances" (purple florals, white florals, yellow florals, powdery, musky, leather... a different accord for each video) and, when possible, including options for different price ranges. I think it could be a good way of highlighting the differences between fragrances that have a similar "DNA".
Hi Helen! Thanks so much for the video ideas. Have you checked out my tuberose and coconut videos? Those are note specific and have a variety of affordable and more pricey options. I like you idea of comparing similar fragrances. I'll put that on my idea list. 💖💖💖
@@VeronicaSays yes, I've seen those! I think videos featuring fragrances with the same prominent accord can focus more on their differences and could be more useful for collectors of that particular accord whereas if the focus is on a particular note two fragrances can be nothing alike even though they share that note. Hopefully that made sense xx
Beautiful review of a beautiful fragrance. This stuff is in a league of its own. Was 2sprays enough? You are not originally from VA. I’m going to guess Philly, NJ, or NY. ???
I adore this scent! It’s smokey and sexy! Everyone makes fun of me for it. I prefer heavy scents because it gets me noticed and lasts all day. I wear this year around.
As usual, great review! Ive grown to really trust your opinion, so I ask, do you feel a man can pull this off? Does it lean very feminine, or pretty much unisex? TY madame!😊
Hi! Thank you so much! There are feminine aspects of this perfume but I think it would be interesting on a man. Do try a decant first to see how it meshes with your chemistry and vibe.
I can’t wear this fragrance. I can’t even smell it. If I even smell it on someone, I literally will faint. So, normally I would hold my breath or move somewhere else if someone wears this near me. It is headache inducing to me. 🥵 Yea, it is that bad. I feel the same way for Samsara too. Those two perfumes are the reason why I can’t stand Guerlain fragrances. Just too powdery and vanillic to me.
Wow! That's a pretty strong feeling. Sorry it turns you off so much. Thanks for sharing your thoughts! It's definitely a strong one and I can see how, if you don't like it, it could be nauseating.

🥰🥰🥰
The Shalimar bottle is so perfect. The OG reminds me of my Great Grand mothers closet and lingerie drawer. I was thinking of getting a bottle to scent my closet and drawers as well.

We had cool weather as well in Cali Yesterday, I was very surprised. The cloud ☁️ were gray with a gloomy sky.
It's been a chilly few days!
Wow I never knew Shalimar was that old! That just blew my mind 🙌
Me too!! It's incredible.
I love Shalimar!!!!!! Such a classic, you can never go wrong with it ❤️❤️ love the Souffle as well.
Hi Giselle! It's totally a classic. 😉 Thanks for watching!

The best scent ever! Also, so very cold in NYC this weekend -- a nice break from 90s and before it gets 90-100 degrees again!
It is a classic for sure! Enjoy the cool weather before the sweaty days hit. 😁
Lol everything but the kitchen sink perfume 😆✨ Wow Civet, Leather and Musk! That sounds really heavy

I have Shalimar Cologne...I found it at Walmart for $16.
It is kinda strong, 3 or 4 sprays is enough to last about 5 hours
I ended up getting Shalimar EDT and like it. A bit toned down compared to the original. 👌
