No matter what all you PATD fans say Brendon's version wouldn't exist without these people here in this video...show some respect for the people that inspired him enough to cover the song.
One of the most powerful songs that will ever be fabricated in our time, and they were forced to censor it on the album... stupid. And I think it's AWESOME that Brendan Urie took the time to learn the lyrics and then PERFORM it... risky. He even kept the original nuances of Stephan's recording! That's so respectful... should be appreciated by us fans. It's a tough song to pull off... Stephan's live performance just brings me to tears, though... nothing can top that.
I saw them live in May and they were amazing. This video does not do their live performances justice. When they played Slow Motion, it was so powerful.
Third Eye Blind rocks hard! Nice to be part of the revolution of music... they are awesome! Loved them since 1997 Rolla Missouri University... missed the show but our small community was rocked and even the grannies talked about it...!!! I personally got 4 of my friends addicted to them... go 3EB!!
well said. how many mature 20+ yr olds actually like them or fall out boy. theyre like the limp bizkit or n sync of the moment. give it a while they'll deny ever having listened to them.
Classic song, not like by all because of the gravity of the lyrics. I love it, I consider it as 3EB's best song. Every time I hear that line " see my neighbour beating his wife, Because he hates his life" I get chills. 5/5 100/100 great song
this is the first time i watch 3rd eye blind and panic is my favorite band but i think that this version was better than panic's cover, though it was good but i think this is better
People only say they like Panic's version better because Panic is more popular right now. If you look at their profiles, most of them are 13-14 years old, meaning they were about 3 or 4 when Third Eye Blind was huge. They just want to conform with the trend, and they're not going to go against it just because some way more talented yet less popular band plays the song better.
great song and great performance this song is beautiful, the lyrics are crazy but it sounds beautiful and thats all that matters... i just dont like when he screams because he hates his life he sings to good to be doing that
OOhh by teh way also... peopel seem to be forgetting that when jenkins done this song in this concert he is about 39 years old and well past his prime... Give some people a break!!!!
It was due to the Columbine shooting in Colorado. Record company made the band take out the verses. Only in later releases, they put back the original version on the album
I'm trying to agree with you @ChrisCJLChris... yes they feigned tattoo of the sun... I hear you!! but u commented 5 years ago and i'm not allowed to reply to you :( .... but rest easy my friend, I got a lift\le bit of blow we can both get off :)
I understand that this song is supposed to be a slam against Hollywood's romanticizing drug use, violence, abuse, etc. However these gentleman accidentally(?) created the ultimate drug doing song. Ironic
The line wasn't "too strong" for no reason. The contrast is poetic and the line should be strong because he's talking about being angry. Maybe at himself. The rest of the song is controlled except for this line and instead of criticizing it you should ask yourself why. This performance is epic
@dkewlguy Just because its mainstream doesn't mean its good. Views have nothing to do with how good music is. Many music gems are hidden. Like this band. =D Stop hatting and just "let go"
hey i think panic had a great cover cuz brandon urie from panic has a good range for this song but still nothing compares to the emotion that 3eb puts into this song
Everyone takes this song way too seriously. Its a serious song, but its ironic. The lyrics are very real, but at the end, you find out its just about the rap game.
"panic at the disco are not a commercial band"....haha...hahahahahaha From Wikipedia: "After a consistent presence in PureVolume's top 10 signed artists, and reaching number one in MySpace's indie charts, Panic at the Disco were featured on MTV's Total Request Live on January 17, 2006"
Hey, don't make personal attacks, kay? And I never even said they played any shows before they got signed; in fact I was naming the sucky "options" for venues out there, which was likely why they never played. They can't help that ignorant teenyboppers fangirl over them--truth is, they feel sorta odd about it (mentioned in an interview). Most of those kids just like them b/c they're hot...>.> Anyway, they also appeal to a wide range of people-- who actually get their music, thankfully^^
i think Stephen feels the song better than Brendon does. that's probably because he wrote the song. =| i like both covers, especially because Panic wasn't trying to one-up 3eb. they were just trying to make their own beautiful version of a great song. they're both good in different ways, but i do agree that the original is better.
Obv. the 3EB version is much better than the Panic! cover, and Panic! themselves would agree, I'm sure. Nevertheless, the Panic! cover is still very good. P!ATD is a very musically talented band. I love this song so much, especially live, the emotion in his voice ("because he HATES HIS LIFE") is just so intense.
And face it, they must have SOME form of talent to get noticed and signed. So grow up. What do you prove by going out of your way to insult a band you don't like?
Heeyy, they never really got a chance to perform live because they were a bunch of teens in the middle of NOWHERE (aka Nevada) ....their options were cheesy joints in Vegas or random hotdog stands out in little nowhere-spots....They got signed 'cause they were GOOD and had potential. Do your research^^ and wtf is a Hollywood band, that doesn't even make sense... And how could they NOT have toured in a van? what's the alternative, besides planes? o_0
Can people Fucking stop talking about panic and 3eb.. whos is better etc.... JUST DO BOTH BANDS JUSTICE AND LIKE THE SONG!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!.. Panic chose to do teh song because they liked 3eb when they were young... and they done a great cover of it.
for god sake! eminemissexxi is rite! p! did this song coz they love it...the didnt mean 2 b lyk teb or beter! and anyway...y is evry1 talkin bout p! this is teb...so get over it! (p!z version was gr8 anyway brendon is talented!)
This one of the best performances by 3EB. I've seen them 3 times and their version of Slow Motion cannot be beat.
No matter what all you PATD fans say Brendon's version wouldn't exist without these people here in this video...show some respect for the people that inspired him enough to cover the song.

This is a very powerful song saw them when they first came out long time ago weird time flys kinda sucks
this song is so amazing i just heard it like a week ago. new favorite
I saw them live in May and they were amazing. This video does not do their live performances justice. When they played Slow Motion, it was so powerful.

This song is awesome, i cant wait for the new album to come out.
I will always love TEB! I grew up on their music back in Cali back in the 90s!
This version is insane damn
Exquisite
juxtaposition at its finest!
well said. how many mature 20+ yr olds actually like them or fall out boy. theyre like the limp bizkit or n sync of the moment. give it a while they'll deny ever having listened to them.
the full song wasn't released in the US because it was too graphic for the time that it was to be released (right after columbine)
love this song, i know all the lyrics by heart
I adore this song. If you don't listen to the words, it sounds like a love song. xD
greatest band ever... NO ONE can copy them and do well =]
Its weird coming back to a video, and seeing that a comment somebody replied to you with 3 years ago is the top comment
great band...cant wait for the 4th album.
same here, awesome song :-)
Classic song, not like by all because of the gravity of the lyrics. I love it, I consider it as 3EB's best song. Every time I hear that line " see my neighbour beating his wife, Because he hates his life" I get chills. 5/5 100/100 great song
best song ever.. 3eb rocks till end
Good Valentines day song...sort of...
this a AWSOME video
amazing live performance
Music in the park in San Jose CA June 18th....they will be there best part about it is...its free!
this is the first time i watch 3rd eye blind and panic is my favorite band but i think that this version was better than panic's cover, though it was good but i think this is better
You can sing on the chorus, the Knocking on heavens door- gun n' roses chorus !!! OMG It's the same music !
The “because he hates his life” part comes out of nowhere lol
Lmaoo A shockingly dark song
Perfect!
this is amazing
good song in the chorus
@thepeanutlord omgg good job that was the funniest thing ive ever heardd!! good job man
@DeeperThanBones9
haha!! they're both gorgeous!!!
CLASSIC :)
this song cracks me up, it is so random, but i like this version better then panic at the disco's cover because third eye blind is so much better
@jteddy31 it was a great CD...but not of the mid 90's lol it came out in 1999 and the full version of this song wasn't on it unfortunately.
legendary
i agree man. You can't beat the original.
respect it!
ide want to see that.were is celebrity death match when you need it
please take some vids, damn I'd love to be there...
AMEN!

I want all of their guitars
great song and great performance this song is beautiful, the lyrics are crazy but it sounds beautiful and thats all that matters... i just dont like when he screams because he hates his life he sings to good to be doing that
stephen jenkins is my hero
🔥🔥🔥🔥
OOhh by teh way also... peopel seem to be forgetting that when jenkins done this song in this concert he is about 39 years old and well past his prime... Give some people a break!!!!
exactly,
you have to remember who wrote the fricking song!
xxx
oh these words ...how true how true - what's your excuse?
lol was he playing the wrong intro in the beginning? Gosh i love this band!
what concert was this? Location or event, anything helps!
what a perfect performance :)
I so do.
one more thing, what happened to Thrid eye blind?
love them, how come the album version only had the chorus?
It was due to the Columbine shooting in Colorado. Record company made the band take out the verses. Only in later releases, they put back the original version on the album

the screaming just shows more emotion it doesn't sound right if it's not in there.
I would've loved to see the audience sing along in the chorus more louder
house of blues
I understand that this song is supposed to be a slam against Hollywood's romanticizing drug use, violence, abuse, etc. However these gentleman accidentally(?) created the ultimate drug doing song. Ironic

3EB ftw....
the version by panic is legit but this one is pretty fuckin good
speaking of how originals are better, does anyonw know where i can find the origianl demo with the chorus "slow motion in the ghetto"?
LMFAO @ 3:09
"Gangsta rap" WAS a social commentary.
best 3eb song
@dkewlguy Just because its mainstream doesn't mean its good. Views have nothing to do with how good music is. Many music gems are hidden. Like this band. =D Stop hatting and just "let go"

I like that he screams at the bridge...although the album version is great too..I just think stephen jenkins is an artist.
Hey, don't make personal attacks, kay? And I never even said they played any shows before they got signed; in fact I was naming the sucky "options" for venues out there, which was likely why they never played.

Does anyone else think that the beginning sounds like "little wing" by Hendrix?
Do you have lives?
They should have kept playing TATTOO OF THE SUN...THOUGH SLOW MOTION IS GREAT
i think Stephen feels the song better than Brendon does.
that's probably because he wrote the song. =|
i like both covers, especially because Panic wasn't trying to one-up 3eb. they were just trying to make their own beautiful version of a great song.
they're both good in different ways, but i do agree that the original is better.
Does anyone else think he looks like Paul Rudd? anyway amazing son
He started to play Tattoo of the Sun in the opening seconds.
I like Panic At The Disco and TEB, the Panic cover was pretty good, but the original is way better! This wasn't so good, but it wasn't bad either.
Obv. the 3EB version is much better than the Panic! cover, and Panic! themselves would agree, I'm sure.
Nevertheless, the Panic! cover is still very good. P!ATD is a very musically talented band.
I love this song so much, especially live, the emotion in his voice ("because he HATES HIS LIFE") is just so intense.
@simensays or was he just teasing with Tattoo of the sun
And face it, they must have SOME form of talent to get noticed and signed.
So grow up. What do you prove by going out of your way to insult a band you don't like?
Chelsea? possibly
Brendon Urie (Panic at the Disco) do a pretty good cover of this,
yeah, just a lil, its a powerful line and all, it deserves to be emphasized, but yeah hah a lil much
arch* there's an arch to his fist as he swings
@thepeanutlord guns and roses blows
"I can't sing live" Jenkins is still 500 times better than Panic At the Disco.
Who the fuck cares who's better? Third Eye Blind's music appeals to me more than rowdy guns and roses music. Kay?
good call.. patd covers lots of good songs but oftentimes don't do them justice
Can people Fucking stop talking about panic and 3eb.. whos is better etc.... JUST DO BOTH BANDS JUSTICE AND LIKE THE SONG!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!.. Panic chose to do teh song because they liked 3eb when they were young... and they done a great cover of it.
luv it
Later bathing in the afterglow
Two lines of coke I'd cut with Draino
And her nose starts to bleed
A most beautiful ruby red.
i thought they were dating at some point?
No, it's mostly a mockery to people who actually live like that.
@dkewlguy just this posting of the song has that many views. get a clue.
for god sake! eminemissexxi is rite! p! did this song coz they love it...the didnt mean 2 b lyk teb or beter! and anyway...y is evry1 talkin bout p! this is teb...so get over it! (p!z version was gr8 anyway brendon is talented!)
I had no idea he played guitar.. haha
