I really like what Victoria said about obesity. I just adopted an Australian Shepherd who's extremely overweight (his last owner didn't take care of him well) and he's already lost a couple of pounds, which I'm super proud of! It's a real health issue and should never be seen as "cute" or "funny". Goes for all animals, including hamsters.
So i don't think I could care for bunnies properly but every time someone mentions them I'm like "but what if??" So yeah your comment made me reconsider again Edit- if I didn't have other pets and I had the space I could probably take care of them, I'm not trying to promote being irresponsible

They aren't just feed and clean them too, some people even say that having a hamster is less work than a fish if you give them good care!

I know someone that keeps their dog in a kennel often, someone that gives there bunny a crate to live in her whole life, someone who wants to own two hamsters in the same cage (glad they cant get one!) I know you have probably examined lenny for bugs or mites when the hair loss appeared but I must say that I had the same problem with my hamster. The bugs came from the shavings and at first we didnt see them they were darker red color and our hammy just had to get a gel treatment on her skin (the vet just put some gelly thing on her neck) and it was causing some hairloss thats why we discoveted it. So maybe this was the problem with lenny but im not sure. Also its great seeing another capricorn here :) And Im really happy that you and your animals are doing ok:) Stay safe!
@@avieebvlogs8018 I suggest changing the bedding and cleaning the toys. If you have wooden toys then bake them in the oven. Victoria did a video about hamster illneses and there is a instruction how to do it. Also go to the vet and they will help you. Also clean the whole cage with sanitizing the whole cage. And don't stress out too much. My vet gave my hamster this medicine and all the bugs disappeared from her after 1/2 days.
For anyone who may be in a similar living situation, but really wants a dog, you can get grass patches of real or fake grass to put on an enclosed patio/balcony to let them use the bathroom easily without having to fully leash up. Not ideal and of course you would still need to provide daily exercise for them, but having a dog in a smaller living space can be totally do-able! Bell training is also super easy and can be really helpful so a dog can request to go outside. 😊

Could you please do a cost rundown for rabbits? I know you did one for hamsters and that was very fun to watch. Also, I think that people only give hamsters a small amount of bedding is because it is called bedding over something like burrowing substrate, they think bedding is just a mattress.
Plants are great to start out with, I did too. It teaches you about how much time and patience you need with real, living things that you have to take care of.

My hamster passed away last week and I want to say thank you. You helped me improve my care so much. He started in a Critter Trail, and by the end of his life he was in a detailed. You helped him have a way better life. And although I miss him so much I am glad that he had a good and happy life

I just bought a great hideout to my hamster... and i thought he would sleep INSIDE the hideout, and want to know where he goes? He goes behind The hideout😂❤️❤️
Mine goes between the fancy hideout and the wall sometimes. I think she does it when it gets hot in here so she gets right against the wall of the bin to feel the cooler surface against her. But when it was colder in the winter she would build a big nest inside the hideout with paper bedding. I actually have 3 different hideouts for her to use. One is a big store bought one that looks like a cabin and has no floor. She uses that one to poop in but she pees in the sand bath area. Then there is a half coconut made out of some sort of ceramic type material that I got in the fish tank decorations at walmart that she curls up inside of sometimes even though it's really small for her. And the one she sleeps in most during the winter is one I made out of two igloo shaped hamster hideouts that I taped together to make a fully enclosed hideout. But like I said, when it gets hot she goes between the cabin and the bin wall.

I'm getting a hamster in October and wanted to know if they smell particularly bad. My room is big enough for a proper set-up but i don't know if the smell would be too bad.
I recommend getting your an a sand bath, and teach them to poop and pee in sand bath, I recommend changing the sand bath once a week, hamsters smells but not that bad, as I have 3 hamsters the smell is not that strong, I think one hamster would not stink really bad, it can smell really bad if your hamster is sick
emily barton I mean sometimes they can smell but NOT MUCH AT ALL! It doesn’t stink up your room... it usually stays in their cage but it’s usually not too bad at all! Also girl hamsters go into heat every 4 days and it smells like burning rubber so I suggest getting a male, to me personally I think males smell better! Hope this helped!
From owning 2 hamster I've never had trouble with their cages smelling bad or them themselves I guess you just have to do check ups on their cage every day to clean out their poop and the hamsters of course wash themselves but if you want you can get your hamster a sand bath.But all hamsters are different and i'm no expert so i might have said something wrong😂😂😂Hope this helped☺Good luck with your new pet❤
You were born exactly 5 years after my step-niece. And almost exactly 15 years after me. But my birthday was February 29th 1984. You are one of my favorite youtubers to watch and you teach this 36 year old man things all the time. I used to have a bunch of hamsters that were not getting everything they needed to be happy when I was about your current age and I feel bad for how poorly I treated them before I found your channel. But there was about a 10 year gap between my poorly treated hamsters and my current hamster who is utterly spoiled now. And I have you to thank for informing me how to treat her and getting me interested in having a hamster again. Thank you so much for teaching me to be a good hamster daddy.
I have a cage that has exactly 800sq inches. I am pretty sad :(...I wish I could give Brownie a bigger cage but I don't have space :(. But I am happy that she has a double sized cage than the actual minimum :). Oh and I am soo shy and antisocial too!!! Im not sure about this because i haven't seen honey but are you sure that she's scratching? It can be a possibility that she's just grooming herself since it can sometimes look like they're scratching.

My family just got a Great Dane puppy! He is a rescue and about 18 months old. He is the cutest thing! My older lab loves having a friend and honestly having him has really helped with all of this quarantine. Hope you are some day able to get one too! You will love them I promise!

Hi! So, for Christmas I'm going to get a 50-75 gallon fish tank for my hammy! Right now she lives in a TinyTales cage.. But I am trying SO hard to save up for her. I lost her for a week straight and she had no food, no water. But a few days ago, in the middle of the night, I heard scratching under my bed and it was my hamster! It took a hour to catch her and I had to re take her. But, the taming is going SUPER well! So, thank you for everything you have taught me. And you are awesome, keep up with the good work!

Plants are great to start out with, I did too. It teaches you about how much time and patience you need with real, living things that you have to take care of.

My hamster passed away last week and I want to say thank you. You helped me improve my care so much. He started in a Critter Trail, and by the end of his life he was in a detailed. You helped him have a way better life. And although I miss him so much I am glad that he had a good and happy life

Mine goes between the fancy hideout and the wall sometimes. I think she does it when it gets hot in here so she gets right against the wall of the bin to feel the cooler surface against her. But when it was colder in the winter she would build a big nest inside the hideout with paper bedding. I actually have 3 different hideouts for her to use. One is a big store bought one that looks like a cabin and has no floor. She uses that one to poop in but she pees in the sand bath area. Then there is a half coconut made out of some sort of ceramic type material that I got in the fish tank decorations at walmart that she curls up inside of sometimes even though it's really small for her. And the one she sleeps in most during the winter is one I made out of two igloo shaped hamster hideouts that I taped together to make a fully enclosed hideout. But like I said, when it gets hot she goes between the cabin and the bin wall.

My hamster is overweight bc he was on Syrian food cause the “exotic “ vet said he was under weight when he was 4 weeks old I have taken him off the food but how can I get him to lose weight

I'm getting a hamster in October and wanted to know if they smell particularly bad. My room is big enough for a proper set-up but i don't know if the smell would be too bad.

I recommend getting your an a sand bath, and teach them to poop and pee in sand bath, I recommend changing the sand bath once a week, hamsters smells but not that bad, as I have 3 hamsters the smell is not that strong, I think one hamster would not stink really bad, it can smell really bad if your hamster is sick
emily barton I mean sometimes they can smell but NOT MUCH AT ALL! It doesn’t stink up your room... it usually stays in their cage but it’s usually not too bad at all! Also girl hamsters go into heat every 4 days and it smells like burning rubber so I suggest getting a male, to me personally I think males smell better! Hope this helped!
From owning 2 hamster I've never had trouble with their cages smelling bad or them themselves I guess you just have to do check ups on their cage every day to clean out their poop and the hamsters of course wash themselves but if you want you can get your hamster a sand bath.But all hamsters are different and i'm no expert so i might have said something wrong😂😂😂Hope this helped☺Good luck with your new pet❤
You were born exactly 5 years after my step-niece. And almost exactly 15 years after me. But my birthday was February 29th 1984. You are one of my favorite youtubers to watch and you teach this 36 year old man things all the time. I used to have a bunch of hamsters that were not getting everything they needed to be happy when I was about your current age and I feel bad for how poorly I treated them before I found your channel. But there was about a 10 year gap between my poorly treated hamsters and my current hamster who is utterly spoiled now. And I have you to thank for informing me how to treat her and getting me interested in having a hamster again. Thank you so much for teaching me to be a good hamster daddy.

I have a cage that has exactly 800sq inches. I am pretty sad :(...I wish I could give Brownie a bigger cage but I don't have space :(. But I am happy that she has a double sized cage than the actual minimum :).

Idk why but recently I keep watching hamster videos....... but I don’t have any hamsters .
I think my hamster has mites bc she is always scratching all my vets are closed and won’t answer their calls. Pls help me and honey (that’s hers name) ❤️
Im not sure about this because i haven't seen honey but are you sure that she's scratching? It can be a possibility that she's just grooming herself since it can sometimes look like they're scratching.

I got a winter white dwarf hamster and I love her so much that I’m getting another one in a few weeks. Watching your videos have helped me make sure my lil babies have the best life I can give them
My family just got a Great Dane puppy! He is a rescue and about 18 months old. He is the cutest thing! My older lab loves having a friend and honestly having him has really helped with all of this quarantine. Hope you are some day able to get one too! You will love them I promise!

Hi Victoria, I just wanted to thank you for everything you have done for me! 3 days ago my hamster of two years passed away from old age and it is honestly the hardest thing I have had to go through in a long time. My hamster Koda was the best thing in my life and the only reason I was able to get her was because I found your channel randomly over 2 years ago. I don't know if I will get another hamster but if I do I will be going through all your videos again in preparation. Hi! So, for Christmas I'm going to get a 50-75 gallon fish tank for my hammy! Right now she lives in a TinyTales cage.. But I am trying SO hard to save up for her. I lost her for a week straight and she had no food, no water. But a few days ago, in the middle of the night, I heard scratching under my bed and it was my hamster! It took a hour to catch her and I had to re take her. But, the taming is going SUPER well! So, thank you for everything you have taught me. And you are awesome, keep up with the good work!
