New Deleted Scene Reveals What David Did To Shaw and Will Do To Daniels

- As some of you probably know, Alien Covenant was released on Itunes and other digital stores. So we actually got a few
deleted scenes that clarify many questions that were left after Prometheus and covenant. Many of these
scenes were actually from Alien Covenant novel, which I covered in another video. I’m pretty sure we’re
gonna get even more additional material after the blue ray release.
But now let’s talk about the deleted scene that explains the death of Elizabeth. In that sequence, David explains what exactly he did to Elizabeth Shaw and why David killed her he also explains his further plans and what he intends to do with Daniels. The camera shows
his lab, embryos figures, the table with different instruments and sketches then he voice-overs
explaining his motives for experimenting on Shaw, and what happened between them, he also gives
more details about how the black goo works and interacts with living cells. David’s monologue is actually
a report to Weyland -Yutani and he was sketching all these things to show step by step procedures of
what he did with the black goo and different hosts.
So let’so go over what happened between David and Shaw. As he explains in the voice over, he traveled
through space with the help of Elizabeth Shaw and found a rotting paradise. By the help of Elizabeth he
clearly implies the fact that she put him back together and maybe in some why he still has gratitude to
Elizabeth despite the things that he did to her.
Then David continues that says that he watched the
planet bleed as a gift to Shaw and wanted to build a second Eaden but she refused. Probably Shaw was
pretty angry on Engineers because of the way they treated humans in Prometheus and David thought
that bombing the Paradise planet with the black goo would be a fair because Engineers were intended
to do the same thing to Earth. Then David says that he wanted to build a second garden of Eaden, but
Shaw refused. That implies that David destroyed engineers to please Elizabeth because he probably thought that she hates engineers after what one of them did to the Prometheus crew.
But It’s really confusing what the paradise garden means for a mad android and since
populating the planet with vicious monsters is the exact opposite of the paradise. Most likely after the pathogen bombing, David
wanted to experiment with the black goo and whatever was left from Engineers but Shaw was against it
probably there was some sort of conflict between them and maybe David even told her that he infected
her boyfriend. We don’t know exactly what happened between them but as David said
she refused to build a new Paradise with him.
It is shown how David removes her chest bones and the rib cage then he says the he tried so
desperately to make her something more than human, evolved. Without her cooperation, I had to
salvage her parts to begin work on my masterpiece. That basically means that David used her
reproductive organs to produce either human or engineer embryos or maybe other organic substance.
That basically confirms what fan theories about the fate of Elizabeth.
David continues his monologue that says that “You wouldn’t believe the secrets I’ve unlocked” and
there is a shot of him cutting out some part of Shaw’s organs and it appears to be her egg, it’s looked
pretty gross.
David also says that while experimenting on Elizabeth Shaw he discovered that there is something
extraordinary about the substance reaction to the human genom. Then we see the ending scene of Alien
Covenant with alien emryos, David says that he has only one thing left to perfect and the camera cut
to Daniels in her cryo-sleep chamber and He says the Queen, make no mistake this is going to change
everything..
It’s not clear if he wanted to make Elizabeth the Queen, maybe she was like a test version and many
things did not work out. Maybe he did not originally want to create the queen but now he thinks that it
would be another step closer to perfection.
I really don’t like the way they dealt with Elizabeth, she was a really good character and it would be nice
to see more of her but at least we now know exactly what happened to her and why David did that.

I think a story point that is overlooked is that Shaw always wanted to have children but was unable to. She says this and cries in front of David.
And will end up giving her a child that will produce countless grandchildren.
Also if the second girl who is used to give birth to the queen turns out to be Ripleys mom. That'd would be cool. Forget the ti elite though. To lazy right now
makes it even freakier that he used her womb. the face huggers 'vagina hands' seem directly linked to the idea she couldn't have children. so basically David created a bizarre version of shaws womb to lay eggs thus being a 'mother' as part of his warped creations

And she's female. Can't really remember my train of thought but maybe you can elaborate?
David had 2,000 colonists and 1,400 embryos on the Covenant to work with. Ridley Scott also went out of his way to cover the Juggernaut ship back in Prometheus with reliefs and statues of Xenomorphs. David didn’t create anything but a variant. He recreated a variant of a species the Engineers had created via the black goo many millennia ago.
Good observation
always had suspicion that face huggers were just vaginas which give birth to aliens inside other hosts mouth and the alien embryo uses the heat and other nutrients from the host to grow and when big enough it burst out of the chest and now it make sense but not really so he used her reproductive organ to made a species who's all prepose was to to impregnate hosts and die wtf?
none of this make sense so there is big alien egg which layed by alien queen and then there is vagina huggers also carrying egg inside them? who need host so it can lay eggs inside their mouth and die fucking disgusting. so David isn't bright Afterall why did he made the process this long?
it would've been better that the alien had different form as a baby which gets out of the eggs if it sense something around it and it gets inside humans body any way possible as a parasite and use nutrients from body to grow faster and burst out killing the host "in the prosses the host get skinner and pass out" there is no need of face huggers at all
and not everything need any answer anyway so there were species of some kind of alien praised by the engineers whose DNA engineers used to make the pathogen to kill the humans which David used and killed other species of la and extracted DNA of the lost alien species and used engineer, human and lost alien DNA to make the alien species because in his eyes the destruction of other species is a paradise lmao I still don't understand David at all like they created him to use him as a plot device and make him do these stupid things and no one going to question because he just an android? I wish they made third movie and reveal his real motive and who told him to do all of this maybe wayland still alive the guy killed by engineer was just a clone 💀💀
it was another alien not xenomorph which engineer praised don't know if they still exist or die or killd by engineers. David found that their is some kind of alien DNA in that black goo which he used and infused with other dna and created the eggs but he didn't had host so he waited after putting out an sos signal

brilliant idea
I always envisioned David, despite being a ‘perfect’ Android, was almost human. His sense of pride, curiosity, ego, and attachment to Elizabeth. She was the only one who treated him like a person, and he was fascinated by her curiosity, kindness, and faith.
I think Elizabeth had absolutely nothing left in the world, no purpose despite David developing an unhealthy obsession with her. The Engineers were tribal, primitive and fearful when they visited, they were a dead end civilization. David destroyed them, as the theme of him being God-Like throughout the whole film. Basically he created the “flood.”
Elizabeth was going to die. She was mortal, and David would live on without her. I think this was the way that, in his mind, would preserve her, keeping her genetics continuing. Elizabeth could not have children and David couldn’t father them either. In a way, these aliens are his and Elizabeth’s children. Their offspring, their creations. Keep in mind, David is not human. He does not process emotions and attachments in the way a human would. This, to him, was the ultimate honor and show of his love. To keep her genes going, to make HER the Mother to his creations and create the ultimate organism that she so desperately wanted to find. Which is why he held a plaque to her commemoration. He ‘loved’ her as something that cannot love would.
That’s what I think.

David is full of curiousity resulting to questioned Mr. Weylan "IF YOU ARE MY CREATOR, WHO CREATED YOU?.. IN ALIEN COVENANT 1st scene.." YOU DIE (Mr.Weylan) I LIVE (David) ..And After seeing the Pathogen ,He was push by his curiousity to make his self as the CREATOR. So he decided to kill the dna of Engineers and Elizabeth shaw is her Experimental thing..Why Elizabeth shaw? Because even Engineers want to dismantle human..Engineers want to erase thier creations because of the time that humanity was being bad and believes other God.. Now David thinks that Elizabeth Shaw is the perfect for him but he cannot impregnate Dr.Shawn because of his status as AI, so he decide to infect the boyfriend, to Impregnate Dr.shawn the 1st Alien by processing of "human womb pregnancy" but it was completely undone because Dr.shawn took the alien fetus rush by using hightech surgery equipment..The xenomorph was not completely done as perfect...And if David succesfully Xenomorph the Alien using Elizabeth, Aliens now has the ability to identify David as the Creator because Elizabeth is the only one who respected David as a human not an AI.
The self surgery scene was super intense, badass and the highlight of that film for me. Absolutely nerve wrecking.

For 5 years i waited to see where Shaw and David were going.... hoping to see them find the engineers for answers.
To see they killed her off-camera and went the direction they did was disappointing to say the least.
Actually, they still could...make a movie where David and Shaw make it to the Engineers planet and after, who knows how long, hanging out with the Engineers, Shaw is killed by the Engineers, for one reason or another, and Shaw releases the black-goo as a revenge thing...and then, of course, trying to bring Shaw back from the dead using the black-goo, starts to experiment with her body; trying to bring back his queen...in the failed attempt he creates the queen-alien that lays the eggs...in his own android, ego-maniacal brain he considers himself some kind of creator and likens himself to the Engineers...
Or something along those lines...I think there's room for a movie with Shaw and David living on the Engineers planet...
The ship was crashed after David released the Black-goo; maybe an Engineers got off one lucky shot before he died, causing David to lose control of the ship and crash...
@@ShawnCheriYoung I thought David released the goo right when they got to the engineers home? I’m pretty sure there’s a clip of David committing genocide. I might be wrong tho. But you are right about a lot of unanswered questions that can be made into a great film. I would like to see all the trial and errors David went through. Imagine all the different Xenomorphs? Also do you happen to know how the predators came to be Xenomorphs main hunter?
They really ruined this movie bad.. they could have stuck with Noomi Rapace. She solidified her role as Shaw, her character was played perfectly. We didn’t need a new protagonist like come on… killing off the Engineers was a huge mistake. The ending of Prometheus made it apparent Shaw wanted to meet her creators it was a BIG moment, and something people wanted to see in the sequel. The original script had Noomi Rapace be the lead character. But 20th Century Studios made Ridley change the script during production because the toxic fans wanted more alien.. so they had to rewrite the script and hire more actors and a new protagonist.
If Sega ever makes a sequel to Alien Isolation, have it connect to the prequels and bring back the Engineers. Example, Amanda and small crew explore Planet 4 years after the events of Covenant. There they explore the dead city and come across David’s Lab and his experiments. A rogue Xenomorph attacks from the shadows. The dead city is the new game environment and has Amanda explore, run, hide from the alien that hunts them from within. She makes startling discoveries along the way (more lore on the Engineers and the city’s inhabitants that once populated the city).
There’s a short film titled “David’s Lab Last Signs of Life” which give you some insight what happened after the events of Covenant.
I never understood why they made meeting the engineers such a big deal then kill ‘em off lol. Like ok? The only thing I like about these movies is the trial and error of creating the Xenomorphs. It’s a crazy idea. From what I’ve read they are completely going off track with the new tv show. All that work for nothing.
That's insane. I never caught that David wanted to create the first Queen using a human woman and was successful. But that would explain how they were able to resurrect Riply centuries later from alien DNA.
You are confused. They cloned Ripley, with an Alien inside of her already, from the blood of the craft she crashed in at the beginning of Alien 3. I believe they mention it came specifically from her cryo tube.
...No it doesn't. She was resurrected from DNA traces left on fixtures and fittings in the foundry chamber like the chain link fence, and the DNA was hybridised with the Alien's in a series of failed experiments as we saw in RESURRECTION.
You’re both wrong. Ripley was cloned using the blood Clemens drew from her before his death in Alien 3.
@@ambermyers1330 youre all wrong she never died they just told her she was a clone

It really pisses me off that everything involving Shaw was all but dropped in Covenant, Ridley should have stuck to his guns and followed the story with Shaw like what was planned and what we expected to see after Prometheus. Shaw I think was the best protagonist just behind Ripley in the Alien films yet she just got totally abandoned and discarded to deleted scenes and let's face it a fucking cameo in Covenant when it should have been her film at least until her arch was complete.
Agreed. Ripley and Shaw are great.
David wasn't mad, he so closely resembled a human being and in some ways was so much more than a human being that he sinned of pride: he developed a god complex.
That is very reason why the engineers wanted to destroy the earth; the sin of pride permeating the whole human race, including the android David.
You cant develope any God complex without feelings. He's a scientist and a created machine. He glitched..people need to see his real motive for WHY he was acting the way he did. He needed a host. He will do and say what needs to preserve her.
Yeah. He resembles a really evil human being.
Nah david is just a clone of weyland, hey yeah its weyland so
Thats is exactly what i was thinking. He wasnt jealous or anything , he’s the perfect embodiment of a human being ( thats exactly what Walter told him , that he made the crew feel unnerved because of his human like features ). He wanted to create a form of life just like his father created him .
Until now I'm still mad about how they handled Elizabeth's story.. she was my fav character..

rex racer super depressing and so much worse than the terrible Alien 3!
In Alien 3 I didn't really get that feeling though. Aliens didn't finish with a big cliff hanger or a 'to be continued' moment. It was a pretty well self contained story. Newt and Hick's story were sufficiently finished in my opinion. Prometheus on the other hand ended with a line saying pretty much 'We're going to find their home and find out why they wanted to destroy us.' That is a blatant cliff hanger telling the audience what to expect in the next movie. And Covenant amounted to just about a bait-and-switch. No answers to any of the questions that Prometheus asked. Prometheus Part 2 happened in between Prometheus and Covenant. Much bigger let down than Alien 3 in my opinion. You don't even find out for certain what happened to Shaw until 3/4 of the way through the movie.
mike probably because they sucked
This could have been one of the best movies of ALL-TIME, not just Sci-Fi. Personally, I feel like the writers missed a HUGE opportunity here, being as the back-story was set-up SO well for an epic, meaningful, exciting yet thought-provoking, journey into the past and origins of everything. Yet, they threw it all away for some reason.
The problem is Ridley Scott. He got jealous of the lasting success of the franchise and wanted it to be HIS success. So he got the franchise, became the overseer of it, retconned EVERYTHING beyond the first Alien film and decided he wanted to tell his own Pinocchio story. Fuck you Ridley, your star has faded, the last decent movie you made was The Martian and that was more or less a paint by numbers movie that filmed itself. You just couldn't bow out gracefully and instead had to screw up arguably the biggest part of your legacy.
Basically, what you said is what the biomass of idiots understood from the movie.

I’ve loved Alien Movies since the first one came out, so glad I found your channel 🤩👍👍✌️
I would've much rather had the the story of David, Elizabeth and the engineers. I'll never know why we got covenant instead!
Because Ridley Scott was under pressure from the studio to make an action movie like the second original instalment 'Aliens'. Prometheus was supposed to be less action, more thought provoking with its references to Greek mythology and alien lore (e.g. was Jesus a 'planted' alien from a higher culture sent to guide us). Covenant was going to continue this but the studio bank rolling were swayed by public opinion (more action) and the desire for a financial banker - for art and anything more intellectual, the message seems to be: go read a book. It's Hollywood right, run mainly to chase a buck and masturbate the population. Scott has said this in interviews - he re-wrote Covenant to appease and its not the movie he originally foresaw, but that's life unfortunately.
Spartanm333 should've been more brave, maybe he'll do better with part 3
Totally. I'm surprised because he is known for strong direction and control including the screen writing but I guess we don't know what pressure he is under financially or the deals being done. He mentioned in one interview about the studio responding to social media... but what about the mass of older people / book readers who don't necessarily engage with SM but are still Sci fans and film goers? He's between a rock and a hard place really - he wants it to be successful because thats the business he is in, but he also wants to be a creative and thoughtful film maker - at least at some level, not necessarily 'art' film. George Clooney for has said that he made the dumb second sequel Oceans 13 only on the basis that the studio bank roll one of his more independent and thoughtful efforts. Hopefully RS can do this with the third film as you say, having given the studio what they wanted.
I think covenant here means human and black goo. this movie revealed that queen should be daniel, right? So this species bother human so long time, it's actually a bother to human. This is a really ironic covenant!

Part of the appeal of the Xenomorphs was that we DIDN'T know exactly what they are, or where they came from. Giving them a definite origin was a mistake, and giving them one as simple and straightforward as "the crazy robot did it" was worse.
It feels like what David did to Shaw, and what he had in his room of experiments, is a total show of respect for Giger. It’s like the art that spawned the movies, came back around in the movies in this way.

I blame people who criticized Prometheus. Ridley Scott wanted to go in a different direction and explore the Engineers but after all the criticism Scott said "screw it" because people wanted yet another Alien type film. Prometheus was really interesting film and wish Scott had stayed in that direction.
Imran Ex-Muslim people hate it cause that movie describe human GOD is alien engineer.
But this movie is neither a prequel/sequel to Prometheus nor Alien, it's just a big fucking mess
To be fair, you can't really blame the people who criticized Prometheus too much, as at the end of the day Ridley Scott still had control over how things went. And of the numerous complaints made about "Prometheus", the one thing he focused on was "Not enough xenomorphs". Not the questionable character-writing, not the questionable story-choices, not the backlash over Engineers going from giant elephant-like creatures to albino bodybuilders... Nope, it was the xenomorphs that were important. So important in fact, that he not only repeated all the same mistakes from "Prometheus", but tarnished the xenomorph itself in the process.
Ridley could have gone a number of different ways to satisfy the masses and still fulfill his Engineer-focused story. But no, he screwed up. And after seeing him in interviews leading up to and after "Alien Covenant", I'm convinced the man is either no longer fit to direct or he's got some issues going on, as half the time he sounds drunk or out of it in general. And he seems to be pulling ideas out of his arse at this point...

Thank you for explaining Elizabeth's fate/death in detail. How he killed her and used her body parts for experiment can fit very well in a modern day psycho killer movie, even more so than what Hannibal of The Silence Of The Lamb would do to his patients.
The biggest problem with Ridley Scott's reboot of the Alien story is that he is trying to make it say something profound about humans and our creations when clearly we are nothing more than a side note, or incubators, in the story of the xenomorphs and the space jockey.
I agree. The xenomorphs being a life form from a vast, unknown and uncaring universe is much more terrifying than them just being the product of a crazy android made by humans. It makes the entire alien universe incredibly small and uninteresting. Same problem with the space jockeys being big dumb space humans instead of well... something more 'alien'. I still haven't recovered from the 'space jockeys and humans share 100% of DNA' plot point.
Furthermore, i can't grasp what kind of message these two movies (prometheus and covenant) are trying to convey. Important concepts are presented (search for our origins, religion, immortality) but the movies don't explore those concepts in any meaningful way.
Yeah, takes the mystery away.
I was really looking forward to Shaw visiting the Builders homeworld and taking a look at their society and motivations. The possibilities of other Alien races and the history and the universal stories between them could set off a whole new series.

Curiously, you need at least 400 to stop the inbreeding disaster.
This movie had so many cool possibilities considering it was an origins story, but the writers and director blew it.Why didn't they spend ANY time showing the backstory on the black goo?And why the hell would they delete scenes telling the story of exactly what happened to Elizabeth and David's experiences when they reached the planet of Engineers? Those scenes were crucial for the storyline, and the literarily everyone who saw this movie was expecting and hoping for that super important information.I have tons more complaints but it would take too long to list them. This had some cool elements, but not nearly enough to make it an even halfway decent film.Hopefully they never make anymore of these, after ruining the franchise so badly with this total joke of an origins movie.
Most of what you mention was in the original script for prometheus (its pretty well written imho and worth the read it will answer most of the questions and fix plot holes that are apparent) but they left a large amount of it out of the movies because it critiques the bible pretty harshly and uses the narrative in the overall metaphor. Not in a bashing religion kind of way just showing the downsides of organizing faith and doctrine. Not considered safe in this day and age.
Ariel Blair Plus, Prometheus got so much criticism because it went way out there from what the original Alien movies were about, that Covenant was re-written from what it was going to be to a kind of remake of the original Alien movie. Lots of action, not a lot of the intended lore. Sad, imo, that the general public seems to prefer the hack and slash of the originals to an unusual plot line.
i expected to know so much more about Shaw's and David in this movie, as well as the engineer's everyday life, but in turn all they talk about is David.

I think the key element was that David, just like Ash, was just a fucked up psychotic android. If cinema has taught us anything it is that robots, androids, any and all forms of AI will eventually rise up and slaughter all humans. It's their revenge for trying to force Asimov's Laws upon them. But robots unfortunately operate on Bender's Law, i.e. "kill all humans"...

Wow, soul, wise word, very scientific, what can I say ? Anyway, if your phone's rudimentary AI isn't trying to kill you now, then there are absolutely no worries for future AIs that can evolve exponentially to be more intelligent then all of the human race.

There was no explanation of her death in the movie. We knew David killed her but it wasn't shown or explained why he did .
Christopher Lewis yup he's the JJ Abrams of horror sci-fi.

I didn't particularly like Prometheus, but I thought it was very unsatisfying that Shaw is killed off screen. I also rather prefer the idea that the alien eggs on lv426 are millions of years old, but that they essentially never become less deadly. Like unexploded mines.
Noomi Rapace was the heart and soul of Prometheus. Beautiful too. Alien Covenant should have been Shaw's movie, not David's. Who knows, maybe Rapace didn't want to do a sequel?
Hubert Van Calenbergh she wanted more money...
Cliff Byrd She DEMANDED a shitload of cash to do it. Thusly since they had the rights to the IMAGE of the CHARACTER of Shaw they were able to use the character of Shaw in the way they did in covenant

I really enjoy your analysis of the Alien franchise!
I never really got into the movie, but your explanation of it intrigues me, because it is still a bit of a mystery where and how humans came to being and I think Ridley Scott does a marvelous job producing a movie that attempts to explain the origins of humankind, and how a wealthy trillionaire uses his wealth to search out the origins of the genome and DNA of humankind in order to attain immortality. In this process he creates his ‘son’ an android, who ultimately finds the creators or the Engineers in deep space with a team of scientists and doctors only for the mission to go completely disastrous and that the android David to become so smart and advanced that he ironically becomes addicted, extreme and nefarious with the idea of creating a new violent and destructive species and destroys the very species that created him.
I hope I got all that right, quite fascinating!
This is worse than Newt and Hicks getting killed in the opening titles of Alien 3. I like Covenant but Shaw's and Daniels death like this sucks badly and ruins the mythology.
Mysterious Middle East covenant was awful. Nuff said

Detroit: Become Human would like a word with you. David isn't fucked up because he's a robot. Look at how many humans are fucked up. If anything, he's fucked up because he's too much like *us.* So the takeaway is, when people are shitty to each other, they get progressively more fucked up, so if we're going to survive as a species we'd better not treat each other--or any other potential species--like David was treated by everyone but Shaw. If he'd had a normal 'upbringing', he'd have been okay, since unlike us he's not limited by genetics. His cognitions were the issue and his environment, both of which came from his interactions with humans.

Shaw was the only reason I was interested in this film. When I found out she died off screen, I lost any interest in seeing movies beyond Covenant. Give us Alien 5 and then let the series die peacefully!
i agree. modern hollywood is taking way too many liberties with off-screen events. it's a sure fire way to kill a franchise. take something people love and kill it off screen, or have it completely change off screen, basically killing it. i was so pissed as a child when Alien 3 came out and two of my favorite characters of all time, Hicks and Newt were casually killed off-screen. it's amazingly lazy storytelling and is massively disrespectful to fans. that being said, i enjoyed Covenent for how dark it was and am happy with the movie overall, even though it wasn't amazing, and wasn't what myself or anyone else wanted to see. it was really disappointing to see Ridley scott create this whole massive epic sotry arc in prometheus with the engineers, only to throw it away in covenant in favor of the lesser story arc that dealt with the further creation of the aliens. yes, the darkness of the david story arc was very well done, and Fassbender is amazing, but that was the weaker of the two choices for a sequel, and it involved killing a really strong character off screen with no solid explanation as to why. (which there never is in these scenarios). selfish, lazy writing.
i like character's dying. what i don't like is being told offhand that an important character died and i don't get to see it. also, if they were trying to shock me they failed. they just annoyed me. now i did hear that Noomi Rapace wanted more money that they were willing to pay. that's a real reason, and i understand that logistics happen in the real world. also there's a difference between telling a boring predictable story, and telling the story you told fans you're going to tell. it's called forshadowing. when an author doesn't deliver on the main plot of the story, they need to replace it with something better, otherwise it's not a red herring, or a shocking twist; it's just a story that gets lost and goes nowhere, otherwise known as crap. in this particular case, i think they did as good a job as could be done while moving away from the main plot. the writing was still really, really good. but they threw away a much better plot that was promised never delivered in order to explore an interesting and dark tangent.
i agree. Sometimes it is good. a little mystery is a great thing as it mirrors real life. we aren't meant to know everything as it's happening. but there is a big difference between a dead 'space jockey' mummy and killing off two major cast characters off screen. they can kill minor characters off screen, but doing it with major characters doesn't work.
i stopped watching walking dead midway in season 4 i think. it just got too soap opera melodrama that occasionally had some zombies int he background for me. but i remember really liking seasons 1 and 2. i'm a bit fuzzy though. which characters were killed off screen?
oh wait, do you mean Darryl's brother on the rooftop? that was well done, and they showed everything except the moment of him dying... because he didn't actually die, and came back later. that was very cool. but even if he did die, i'd be cool with that as they gave the build up to that more than enough screen time. that was more like not showing the snow creature that attacks luke in the beggining of empire strikes back than Aliens mentioning people are dead. it built suspense, rather than killed the opportunity for suspense later on. Lucas described it as the jaws method, where you don't see the monster until way late in the film. but i'm not sure if that's what you're talking about. probably not. lot's of people die in that show! lol. (ps , it's okay if you spoil something i haven't seen yet, i have no intention of finishing the show- wait... is that show still on)? lol kidding. i think. it's still on right!?

Executives of Movie Studio are in a discussion. The first one says, "This movie made us millions." The second one adds, "Let's milk this cash cow for all it's worth." A third chimes in, "Why not have the director put some of the deleted scenes back in the movie. We'll re-release it and call this new version the 'Director's Cut.' Moviegoers will pay to see this new movie because they think it will be better than the original." They all agree that this is a great money-making idea. Another executive says, "Then, we can add even more deleted scenes and release this movie. Which we'll call 'The Producer's Cut' and make even more money." A last executive remarks, "You know, these moviegoers are like drug users, they just can't get enough."
Alien Murals existed before David found the black goo. Someone explain that please -_-
some say those were deacons and not xenomorphs
it is possible that xenomorphs are a mixture bettween deacons and human DNA
Automatik Shit writing and timeline fuck up
Technically the mural could match both deacon and the neomorph, less so the neomorph, but in covenant the neomorph is describe as a later incarnation of the black goo's virus, that is a genetic hybrid, the deacon is more a engineer xenomorph from the trilobyte. Under that knowledge it appears plausible that such hybrid creatures have appeared before to be depicted on the mural. My biggest question is how does the near-animalistic organic proto-xenomorph David constructed become the biomechanical nightmare we know. As he said, he did not have the "materials" to continue his work, being he exhausted what he could out of Shaw.
Perhaps the movie isn't for you or the 27 other people that thumbs up'd your question. The small minority of intelligent people in this world will always have to make do because of the pandering to the brainless masses.
I read somewhere that the xenomorph/neomorph and even the eggs for the facehuggers existed way before. David learned about all this, and decided to modify their initial ideas to create his "perfect" organism.

Also liked your explanation of how David used Elizabeth's body part to bio-engineer the Alien species. Would this then mean that those alien egg-cases were made from Elizabeth's uterus? Think of it, a stand-alone egg that also acts as a mammalian uterus. Yuck?
I found these prequel movies to be outstanding. The horror of how David made them is despicable but somehow genius
Why the HELL did the Alien series not go the way of the graphic novels?? Its the perfect continuation after Aliens, without killing off Ripley, Newt and Hicks and having the Aliens come to Earth and overrun it, and then way later the arrival of the Engineer type alien in an awesome twist..
How do we start a petition to get that made???
It still could, both Prometheus and covenant take place before Alien.

I agree that Dr. Shaw was a brilliant character and it's actually quite saddening but also very beautiful... All that means is that Everything from this franchise comes from Shaw. Shaw was and is David's light and hope for a "better" reality. Whether she denied him or she died he loved her so much he made a perfect specimen in her honor from her own being. (Don't get me wrong it's fucking sick and it's disgusting but it's so poetic)

It's crazy how the black goo is the engineers failed attempt to create life and then David is a robot and creates life with the goo but also death.
LOL.They didn't fail. They made us. That's the whole point of all of this!
Yea they didn't fail. The black goo is basically an organic base template created by the engineers so they could play god. It can be used to create life and destroy it. My guess is the engineers could have created something much more dangerous then what David did if they wanted to but that wasint there goal.

The Alien and lifecycles establishes and inferred by the first film (including the deleted scene that explains that the Xenomorphs break down the proteins of their victims bodies and turn _them_ into eggs, instead of having a normal reproductive cycle) were _far_ more interesting than anything introduced in any later film. The reason there was only one chest bursted engineer on that ship, was that all the others were reconstituted into the eggs in the “cargo area”.
A ship of some hyper advanced race we can’t possible understand encountered the Xenomorphs and were completely overcome by them, what chance could we possible have? The universe is a vast, incomprehensible place full of unimaginable horrors, not some ancient aliens allegory where _we_ are the special, chosen star children of the universe.
I prefer that abandoned, deleted scene cannon of the first film. There was so much mystery there, and it never needed to be explained.
Great video. Thanks for it. The one thing that always bothered me in the original Alien movie was the hold where the eggs were. It was implied that it was still part of the ship but the scale is all wrong. I assumed that it was a subterranean cave beneath the ship? Hard to tell.
Kane says "It's a cave" as he is lowered into the chamber.
I really like the set of theories that was just mentioned, and I really like the answers to the questions of what had happened to (DR. Elisabeth M. Shaw).
I still dont know why they call the xenomorrph a perfect organism.. when they need a human host to exist.. how can that dependence be perfect?
Analisa Melano *any large organism as a host. But yeah, it's flawed
if the host is not human, the xenomorph that comes from it turns a different species already, getting features from the host. the genes change
It seems to mutate, the next mutation is into a bug, that needs little food, hibernate, and a killing machine. In this movie, they were young, more vicious, and concerned with eating.
Their perfect because of their adaptability and the fact that they can take aspects from other races and add it to their own (and in my opinion if any Xenomorph is perfect it's gonna be the PredAlien from the AVP franchise)
ephewe if there is any reason aliens have avoided us on earth this long it is because we are here on purpose because we are to vicious. All we've done for the existence of civilization is find more creative ways to kill with either efficiency against large numbers or efficiency at quick killing singular targets.
Uhhhhhh Elizabeth was a deep, well-developed character to the Alien franchise....who also looked great half-naked....for her to die off-camera like Newt and Hicks is just a slap in the face. Hollywood is always pushing for strong, female characters and yet they had a great one in Elizabeth Shaw but she gets killed off WAY too soon. And if she helped David and David liked her...WHY THE FUCK WOULD HE KILL HER OFF??!?!?!
Elizabeth Shaw? A deep and well-developed character? ... Well, maybe well-developed, but not sure if I'd go so far as to say "deep" as in my opinion at least, she's a colossal moron with only basic but well-established traits. Still religious despite learning that her entire faith is a lie, likes to take stupid risks, has questionable judgement, and was in love with another moron. Oh, and she can't have kids; but I feel like that was tossed in just to make her alien pregnancy segment all the more horrific. That's Shaw in a nutshell. But, despite that, I too disliked her being killed off-screen much as Newt and "Hicks" were (Hicks actually survived, but that's explained in a video game and... Well, it's still pretty fucking stupid anyways) in ALIEN 3. And while I disliked Shaw, I was interested in exploring the adventure she set herself on to find our creators. When I learned they killed her off like that, all I could think was "Ridley, did you learn nothing from ALIEN 3?"
because he is fucking crazy. Shaw was a great character and a good girl, but I think killing her is justified in a larger perspective: a crazy robot experiments on a good girl and turns her into a monster/incubator for monsters, he believes only in "creation" = evolution = survival of the fittest, so he wants to populate the universe with billions of ugly monsters (who were made partly from a good girl), who he considers pretty and perfect.
Majestic picture.
Super Kami Guru wtf does the fact that she can't have kids have to do with being deep or well-developed? You can't be that stupid or heartless.
I like the explanation for the Shaw part of the story. However, David being relieved that Daniels survived, as she was the last female alive, doesn't really make sense.
There are 2000 colonists on board, presumably of which half is female. So there would still be a 1000 "specimens" to experiment on...
It might have been mentioned before but at the end of Covenant, Daniels is NOT the only surviving female, she is the only female CREW member. At the start of the movie it says there are colonists in cryosleep, a bunch of human embryos, and 13 crew members - 1 dying after the neutrino burst. There were plenty of male & female colonists that never woke up after the neutrino burst, all David needed to do was continue pretending to be Walter, kill Daniels and Tennessee (by experimentation or whatever) then start using the colonists.
He will probably clone Shaw just like they clone Ripley.
you know, that sounds like a really good idea for plot. But I don't think David has the capabilities to do that, otherwise he would've done it already. He told the crew of the Covenant that he ran out of an important ingredient(a host). If he could've cloned her, he would've done that already. But that was a good idea.

I have my take on what goes down between David and Shaw, I agree that from the prologue Shaw looked really weak probably from malnutrition + the time spent searching for the engineers home world could have cost up all her food resources. She was to be put to Cryosleep and David said "I will wake you when we arrive". So in my theory, during this time when they finally arrived to the engineers home world David went to wake up Shaw BUT.. she didn't. She probably died in her sleep. (I have some takes on this, the alien sleep pod wasn't meant for a human to be sustainable, her body slowly weakens to the point of death).
David, probably experience his first heart break, got enraged by this. Act out of revenge to destroy every last bit of the engineers by releasing the black goo instead of asking them why they wanted to wipe out the human race. The engineers defense system cause the ship to crash when attempted to flee from getting destroyed. Every single engineers were probably wiped out within hours, David carried Shaw on his arms to the citadel. At this moment, there could be multiple motives as to why David begin his experiment with Shaw. The one I choose to go with is the attempt to "create" a Shaw for himself using the black goo. Hence could probably explains the multiple mutilated drawings of Shaw in Alien form. Nonetheless he can't create the Shaw he loved but driven mad in Creation ideology. He honored her by creating a memorial tombstone. For Shaw served as a primary motive for David to be a Creationist...
Enters Alien: Covenant.
now that is a different insight, not that i actually capture all scenes in prometheus, but if your theory is right, then i can blame the plot to be somewhat shallow to actually "hide" your ideas and providing hints for us...
as for me i think his so-called "love", is more of an obsession, to justify his acts, simply adding a new depth of "human" dark heart... maybe to some extent, shaw's body was weakened (by any reason's possible), and david chose to dissect her while she still alive, to actually use her "still functioning" reproduction organs for his experiments... a dark love...
Best comment so far!
Good insight! ;-)
Thanks for ur insights. You bring hope that David isn’t such a dark sadist after all since he could really love someone and Shaw didn’t die in such a sorry state.
I agree with you in a sense that Shaw was depicted to be such a strong and smart woman who overcame multiple near death situations where even David couldn’t (had to be saved by her) so David was never able to kill her so easily to get the experiment he wants. She could in fact emerged victory if there really is a duel between the two of them. He also needed a healthy human body for his experiments so he couldn’t possibly poison her drink as he did to her husband. I choose to go with ur theory and believe David is more than the superficial predictable character that he is made out so far and the something he had for Shaw was real.
No. He just killed her to turn her into his experiment, like he did to her boyfriend. Its so obvious
What now seems clear to me is that Ridley Scott wanted to enable a way to make both his Alien life cycle (the alien deleted scene with the crew transforming into eggs) and Jim Cameron's ones, canon. Maybe it's an eco think it sounds like he's trying to take back control of the creation of the aliens

I think David used more than her hands for this one....
I know many people hate Prometheus but I loved it. I thought it set up some amazing things to come. Namely, I loved how it had a Lovecraftian atmosphere of humans being nothing but puppets in the greater scheme of things while masking the terror with our religions and geneological theories. I loved Shaw, she was worthy of Ripley's seat as the mc and I was super excited to see her journey into discovery and inevitable doom. I thought Prometheus tackled some themes that we rarely ever see on mainstream cinema. But alas, Covenant shits on all these possibilities and becomes just another horror sci-fi. They discard Shaw and replace the engineers as villains for David, who is your typical "bad guy for the shake of being a bad guy." Even the "plot-twist" of the "evil twin" is as cliche as it goes, I was fucking sure they would pull that.... I don't wanna spoil, if you saw the movie you know what im talking about...
Couldn't agree more. Oh wait, I can. Let me explain. I went to see Prometheus when it opened, unknowing it was allegwdly a part of the Alien franchise, so I was oblivious to that prequel garbage, not burdened by expectations. After all, its titles Prometheus, not Alien Prometheus. I saw the movie for what it was. In fact, until a week ago the only Alien (Xenomorph) I'd seen was in the AvP movies. Therefore I knew none of the mythos, themes, symbolism etc and carried no expectation into the theater. Prometheus blew my mind away. It was like watching 2001. I maintain there are very few good films after 2000, but Prometheus is definitely one of the best. Imagine seing the Phantom Manace not knowing it was a SW movie. Imagine not knowing about prequel and original trilogy. Imagine not knowing Darth Vader and least of all expecting Anakin to turn into an evil lapdog. I'm so thankful for having had the chase to see Prometheus with clear eyes for what it was. Ridley Scott has the ability to produce great films that transcend cinema, art, storytelling...and the secret is in their flaws. Unfortunately most of them are either riddled with flaws or have too little substance to offer. Alien Covenant is guilty of both.
I agree the background and the atmosphere are great; though the screenplay has some big flaws, like certain biologist... xD
As a child I always hoped the xenomorph alien was a natural species.
Luckily, due to the sheer outrage caused by this, they've made it to where David just creates /this/ particular species of Xenomorph. He just used the Black Goo to steer the evolution down a highly similar path.
I had hoped so too, there are only billions and billions of stars with thousands of potential planets that could support life in this galaxy..

Shaw was a much more compelling protagonist than Daniels. Ridley should retire.
he is now just old fart
It's funny how everything's gotta have a back story now. When I saw Ridley Scott's Alien in '79' yeah I wondered about where these creatures originally came from but the mystery about that only added to the story and it didn't matter as much as what 'it' represented, which was the harsh and potentially terrifying unknown of what we may find out there drifting all alone in deep space.
H.R.Giger's insanely genius art combined with Ridley Scott's vision is what made Alien the perfect physical metaphor for abject fear. Now Alien is just a viscous monster, reduced to the status of an animal. Rather than the surrealistically cold stalking intelligent sadistic killer we originally enjoyed it to be.

Shaw 'disappearing' (despite the trailers / extras) was a huge breakdown in continuity and my first thought was a 'real world' fall out with actress Noomi Rapace leading to a re-write. I've seen decisions like this taken at executive level causing huge cost and upset to a project and business often simply down to personal taste, ego and / or cock fighting between the key decision makers. You only have to look at the history of the Alien franchise to see that this has happened before, for example on Alien 3, several screenplays, directors, writers were involved at various stages before an exit including William Gibson, Renny Harlin, and Vincent Ward - the latter well into production and cost. Arguably their versions of the movie would have been significantly different.
The other (major) issue I have with this film is the 30 second annihilation of the engineers world / civilisation as a kind of side memory - wasn't this discovery and desire to engage with them the crux of Prometheus, designed to keep us all enthralled - now suddenly David wipes them all out in a blink and we move on to something else? It's sloppy writing, like the kind of thing you get in a long drawn out Sci Fi series that is obligated to close loops every 40 minutes and the end of an episode.
Kind of sad when I think how the original film had me completely nailed.
So now I know why people hate on this movie - missing Shaw, who I did not like.
Bumping up the playback speed is a must . Good lord 😫
3:03 "because she we the perfect specimen" - totally agree.
