Thank you for taking the time to mention where you got your plans and ideas from, giving credit where its due is an important part of being an honest maker, and too often people "forget"to mention their inspiration. So I applaud you for that! Great project, keep up the good work!
How can anyone not like this video? Really well put together. Thanks a lot :D only suggestion I'll make is that I'd love to see more of the finished product at the end and you testing out a print. I mean, I know how it all works, but it would be a great addition to your videos for viewers to see this badboy in action.
Hi Bob: Bob here. This is some beautiful work. Superb craftsmanship! Just a tip for anyone using J B Weld. If you can, rough up both faces you are trying to join with some sandpaper and I think you'll find that it holds a lot better. I used a ton of J B Weld when I made my one color press. Much respect and thanks a bunch!
Hey Bob :) That's a great tip! Thanks for sharing! I'll give that a go next time I use it. That makes a lot of sense because the aluminum that I was using was really really smooth. Thanks!!
I just bought ths instead awhile ago and love it...www.amazon.com/gp/product/B016VSQVNO/ref=s9_zwish_hd_bw_bs7Wb_g201_i2?pf_rd_m=ATVPDKIKX0DER&pf_rd_s=merchandised-search-8&pf_rd_r=0DF3AZMNVQ0R4GKW6PHY&pf_rd_t=101&pf_rd_p=6df6bb6a-f883-5a2a-a20f-d2270a5c7713&pf_rd_i=12898641
I really loved this screen printing press, however I tried to look for the free plan but it’s seems to not be available:( do u have the plan to build it by any chance ? Plzz 🙏
He and with his home completed tools metal stuff..made him looked so man,! The way of his agility operated the machine nor tools, did a fast measurements, fixing it, till the things done, and can be a useful press printer is just wonderful. The kind of healthy and positive activities.
This is by far the best tutorial on making this. I planned on making mine soon and altering the base like you to be able to clamp to most surfaces. The two temporary blocks to line the arms are a great idea. Thx for this!
Nice I built this press back in 2009 when Michael Phipps came out with the plans I love my press still use it today. Nice that Ryonet thought it was a great video as well Cool!
I've been searching for one of those turn table brackets for years... never realised its called a lazy susan, bang found one straight away. You sir are a legend!
thanx body this video was a great help for me.Although there were some technical problems in keeping the screens at the right angle but I am trying to figure them out by replacing some parts with iron.
Bob - so much gratitude for your video and guidance! I have successfully built your version of this press, and am ready for printing. Just picked up screens and ink yesterday! I wanted to add that when I drilled holes in my C clamps, I drilled two - close together in order to avoid the jb weld - on a drill press slowest speed using a little bit of oil (just motor oil) - and my cuts went super fast. Like less than 20 seconds. Also, I was thinking about making the platen large enough for the whole screen to rest on - don't know if this is completely necessary for most applications, but would allow for maximum printable area given the screen size. (using the 20x24" aluminum frame screens like you too. ) THANK YOU in the highest and best way bro! PEACE STeve ARnold Winnipeg, Canada
I know this video is old but I recently updated my screen print setup using toggle clamps and I figured I'd share that here. I'm considering building this rig myself and toggle clamps are awesome for quickly clamping down frames.
wow mate. This is really cool. I love to make stuff too. I will make like this for my printing business. But sad to say, I don't have the tools like you have, the wood cutter, those heavy duty metal drills. But I will try to make using only a traditional hand saw :( tiring and not accurate. Again a very nice video, it inspires me more. Hope to see more from you. Edit: I'm glad I found the layout in your site. Request: Can you make a cool silk screen stretcher? That would be awesome. Made of wood too.
Checked out the plans and looks awesome and you did a good job yourself. However, I am wonderin what keeps the screen down and not just spring back up ?
Looks pretty good...I have metal parts to shelving thrown away from dollar store and bought bearings and round flat metal plates to produce a six color printer with 4 platens machine with metal stand. I have worked at t-shirt shop many years and always thought it was easy to make press. Just looking around on youtube for better ideas to put mine together.
Hey homie, nice video. I do visual displays and need to use eye screws pretty frequently. I started using a screwdriver and one day I looked at my gator grip drill attachment. It was the best discovery of my life. Super cheap, try it out
That's a good one dear. Kindly help with the measurements' specs for the timber material pieces that has been assembled to fabricate the MACHINE. Also include the other materials like screws, bolts and nuts and channels used etc
Awesome video! The only issue I see is for adjusting off contact. Otherwise looks great. Its probably possible to make an 8 color press the same way. Can you make a video on making a vacuum exposure unit?
Cool! It looks a lot like the professional one I got to use in class this past semester when we did screen printing. I might have to make me one of these XD
I was building mine and I noticed that the little angle pecies for the clamps are only needed if you use 2-1/2 inch clamps. 2 Inch clamps dont need them.
Just what I need, enlightening your video, ready to print my T-shirts,.... I've seen other videos where the shirt holder has an adjustment screw, you know if it's important this accessory ....gracias saludos
Great video. Thank you for making this. Would love to have seen added, what screens can be used, or sources where to get proper screens. Also, proper ink/paints to be used or sources to get them. Maybe even a quick demonstration of technique (apart from later-view, full video links), just for the sake of completeness. I understand that this is a "making" video, but those of us who come to these type of videos are interested in the whole process, and would like just a little more help beyond the build. Again, thank you for making this vid, and any info or response.
SwankeyMonkey Thanks! I have gotten several requests for a printing video, using the press. It's on my list of upcoming projects. Honestly, my biggest source is Amazon, so there's not much to share there, but I'll try to cover the screen making process, as well as printing multi color prints with the press.
hola amigo eres una maquina de hacer maravillas... admiro tu trabajo espero sigas subiendo videos... acabo de suscribirme y eres asombroso .... un apreciable reconocimiento a un excelente carpintero innovador
Let's see this sucker in action. Proof of concept and such. If you spent 2 months tweeting it and had to change a couple thing it would be great to know. Thanks. Great vid. Lends itself to Frank Harwath only without the stop motion.
I definitely plan on doing a printing video with it (once I get my next shirt designed) but I have used it once and it worked GREAT! I was really surprised honestly. I think if anything, there will be some trial and error with getting the registration to match between different screens, but that's really all about precision when marking the centers of the screen and centering the art. Thanks! and I'll definitely get a printing video up in the near future!
Hey Sabrina! You mean just adding 4 platen to this setup, rather just one? No, I don't but that's a fantastic idea. I didn't make the original plans for this one, just slightly modified a great set of plans from printingplans.com I think you could easily alter what I've done here to allow for 4 arms but I'd have to give it some thought. Email me at bob at iliketomakestuff dot com and I'll see if I can help you out.
Hi dude. I have a press station but I need to make a custom sized plate because the supplied one isn't big enough for what need. Could you share what type of wood you used for the plate and how you've found it in terms of resisting potential warping from a flash dryer. Thank you :)
this one was also very interesting! I have one question: about centering the holes, so that the other pieces line up right, would it just be a lot more work to do that with your cnc? it seems like the accuracy would be higher-but then, significant accuracy with wood doesn't seem to be much of a thing... I'm assuming you could line up an edge on pins in the holes you have in the base plate on your cnc. I'd like to hear your thoughts on this, if you have time.

I wonder? Do you still use this? If so, Pros v Cons? What would you do different, Metal or Aluminum perhaps? Quality v. consistency v. Speed? Just Curious. Would really like to build this exact thing.
Ok the press plans call for 9" angle irons. It looks like yours are longer by your video and the measurement of the ruler. Can you share what your measurements were for the angle irons and why you chose a longer length?

I DID THIS!! got all my stuff from home depot and lower. and now i have my own company and brought all new equipment.
How much did it cost you to build it?
+TheMajorPCGamer around 350 total.
I just bought ths instead awhile ago and love it...www.amazon.com/gp/product/B016VSQVNO/ref=s9_zwish_hd_bw_bs7Wb_g201_i2?pf_rd_m=ATVPDKIKX0DER&pf_rd_s=merchandised-search-8&pf_rd_r=0DF3AZMNVQ0R4GKW6PHY&pf_rd_t=101&pf_rd_p=6df6bb6a-f883-5a2a-a20f-d2270a5c7713&pf_rd_i=12898641
$350???
Almost no way it cost you that much to build this.
home depot is expensive, you can got it cheaper on small stores and buying used wood
I really loved this screen printing press, however I tried to look for the free plan but it’s seems to not be available:( do u have the plan to build it by any chance ? Plzz 🙏
Great to see all the work put into these videos rewarded with so much more work, views and subscribers. OG fan here, Bob! Thanks for everything.
He and with his home completed tools metal stuff..made him looked so man,!
The way of his agility operated the machine nor tools, did a fast measurements, fixing it, till the things done, and can be a useful press printer is just wonderful.
The kind of healthy and positive activities.
This Man has it down. I like how he gets to the point and makes it all quick and e-z .
What a great instructional. The time elapse photography works far better than video. And your narration is very clear.
Best screen presser of all the DIYs I’ve seen in youtube!
Thank you so much Steve Buscemi
Lol, that's exactly what I was thinking 😂
Throw in some bad teeth and a lazy eye... Pre Wedding Singer era, maybe?
Wow. great build. Would love to see a followup with the press in action seeing issues that come up with it and the final product that you can get.
This is by far the best tutorial on making this. I planned on making mine soon and altering the base like you to be able to clamp to most surfaces. The two temporary blocks to line the arms are a great idea. Thx for this!
Awesome, I'm so glad it was helpful! I used this press for the first time, last week, and it worked great. Best of luck on your build!
Nice I built this press back in 2009 when Michael Phipps came out with the plans I love my press still use it today. Nice that Ryonet thought it was a great video as well Cool!
Thank you! I'm starting a Screen Printing business in my garage and I needed this! This helped me alot since I'm 14 and I have no money haha
I've been searching for one of those turn table brackets for years... never realised its called a lazy susan, bang found one straight away. You sir are a legend!
thanx body this video was a great help for me.Although there were some technical problems in keeping the screens at the right angle but I am trying to figure them out by replacing some parts with iron.
nice job, clear & concise & nice y'all gave the creators of the plans credit.
Thank you Bob as someone new to silk screening You saved me a fortune in equipment cost just for the table itself
A new hobby that I am getting into. Thanks. This was a great video.
honestly way better than some pro ones I've seen
Wish I would have had this when I made this press 3 or 4 years ago mine worked but definitely didn't look as nice as this one. Nice Job.
Bob - so much gratitude for your video and guidance! I have successfully built your version of this press, and am ready for printing. Just picked up screens and ink yesterday!

Great! That's a good call on drilling two holes in each clamp!
Well that just popped in my recommended,
didn't know your channel goes this back.
Awesome video Bob of I Like To Make Stuff! :)
I know this video is old but I recently updated my screen print setup using toggle clamps and I figured I'd share that here. I'm considering building this rig myself and toggle clamps are awesome for quickly clamping down frames.
Nice functional screen press. Like the modifications!
Absolute best video on how to build a screen printer I have seen.
Thanks John
This Bob is so sad, the new Bob is happier. Cool project tho.
he is sad because he had to sacrifice his clamps
no beard..looks better with a beard
You can't use Bob Ross's name like that! It's like people in the 1,300's forsaking God's name guy! Wtf?
@@abelinkin damn straight brotha! Bearded and proud!
He looks that way as he has been a RUclipsr before the major filtering, and knows the evils of our keepers. ;-)

this was cool. I taught screenprinting at UC Davis for about 25 years. in the early days we had one similar to this attached to a 55 gal drum.

Man you made a really classic 4 color T-Shirt printer just great .
Litterally the coolest thing I have ever seen ( besides a fighter jet)
I have seen most your videos, really really good job man. keep it up. Thank you.
I got build my screen printing machine for watch this, my business grow over night, thank you
the machine u builed is very use ful for screen printer thank you...................
you are so talented. Can you show me how you build a screen printing press for coffee mugs and pens or any other cylindrical item etc.
I was building mine and I noticed that the little angle pecies for the clamps are only needed if you use 2-1/2 inch clamps. 2 Inch clamps dont need them.
Ohh bob i just want to give you a hug and tell you its going to be okay, keep being awesome!
Just what I need, enlightening your video, ready to print my T-shirts,.... I've seen other videos where the shirt holder has an adjustment screw, you know if it's important this accessory ....gracias saludos
Using bolts and nuts for the arm hinges should make things tighter and better fitting over time.
Really nice table making
Thank you very much, have an good afternoon 😀
About how much do you think it cost to build this?
also did you create a build plan with your modifications and specifications? I'd like to have them.

man, I was really looking forward to seeing it in action.
Great Video Bob.
Do you need to purchase the screens or can they be homemade?
+SonarIsDead They can be, but I've found over the years that the store bought ones, especially aluminum, last a lot longer.
u should make a shot glass shelf that can hold 10 or more glasses and some different sizes of them
Hi Bob, LOVE the way you made this. I'm wanting to make a 4-color 4-station press. Do you have a video and plans for that as well?
Thanks
Hey Sabrina! You mean just adding 4 platen to this setup, rather just one? No, I don't but that's a fantastic idea. This is how theXMen Quick Silver working on rotary screen printing. Don't blink! Lol good job!
Excellent video…I wish this was around 30 years ago when I first started screen printing....
I think the angle of the clamp helps it to stay against the aluminum angle
what are the best screens to use for most shirts n such,ie, 110,120,180. there is so many choices. Great video by the way. Thx.
Very good video, very educating and helpful.
Great video...if only it could be made that quickly!
Çan u give me some measurements of the wood and explain how u make the revolving part
3:18 How do I not have one of those hold down clamps? That will make securing stuff on my drill press so much slicker. Thanks Bob!
what measurements did u use for the baseplate and how long are ur 2by4's underneath it? Thanks, awesome video, can't wait to start
this was so so sooo helpful, thank you so much!!
, now i have a summer project to do, once i get my silk screen material

Hi Bob, I'm mike, and I like to make stuff! So I've subcribed to your channel.
Can you add in the description somewhere that we can get your version? Thank you!
Hi great diy project! Whats the type of Clamp on you drill press ? Gotta get me one of those its very handy!
Thanks! It's a basic drill press clamp from Harbor Freight. It's really handy!
my print-making class would need this

Awesome awesome video and very well built!
Hi Bob! Cheer up Bob!
Did you change the dimensions at all? This is a cheaper alternative then also building the stand.
Greetings from Colombia
So helpfull for my starting clothing business, thank's for the videos, very smart and creative
Veryp professional, i must make this by own based on your precious idea,
This is a very educative video do u have any for circular screen printing machine
Excellent job on this video! Thank you!
Hes changed in three years
John Venier the intro hasn't xD
yeah his confidence has boosted
I was thinking (almost) the same... a year on ;)
You hasn’t changed much in six years either
this one was also very interesting!
Which holes do you mean? At the time that I made this, I didn't have my CNC yet but interested to understand which part you mean. Let me know!
I Like To Make Stuff well, without checking the video to be more specific, what I remember is esp. you were concerned about centering the two mdf pieces connected by the lazy susan so that the platen arm would line up with the screen arms as you rotate the thing.
it seemed like (for example), you could use the cnc to mill the two mdf pieces out of one sheet, both doing all the cuts (or milling cut guidelines, if you want) and putting in the screw pilot holes according to one reference corner.
the work holding would be a bit touchy if the base and the octagon are different widths and you were doing the cuts with the cnc, too, but if they are/can be the same width, then that's not much of an issue, either.
I hope this makes sense, it's a little late here
also, btw, thanks for that link about endmills; it's very interesting and answers some questions I've had.
Excellent and I'm building it thanks very good work
I wonder? Do you still use this? If so, Pros v Cons? What would you do different, Metal or Aluminum perhaps? Quality v. consistency v. Speed? Just Curious. Would really like to build this exact thing.
buddy you just save me a lot of money thanks,
Came across this great video too late apparently. The stuff at printingplans isn't up anymore. Anyone have an alternative?
awesome video - and such an inspiration!
Very nice project!
Good day
This sound and look very easy to do as I am planing to start the Printing Small Business
I would like to receive More of these videos
Man you should sell these things !! That's so cool
Ok the press plans call for 9" angle irons. It looks like yours are longer by your video and the measurement of the ruler. Can you share what your measurements were for the angle irons and why you chose a longer length?
Mine were 18", and honestly, they were leftovers from another project. The length worked, so I just used what I had. I don't think the length matter too much, as long as it's long enough to support the screen. I've got 20x20 screens, so having them longer worked fine, it was just a bigger lip to stabilize the frame to.

Awesome wood making bruh!
Great job man. I searching this. Thanks for sharing and success fore you..
