Mistake #1: Not thinking bigger 01:04 Mistake #2: Thinking you need 8K 04:59 Mistake #3: Thinking you need HDMI 2.1 07:09 Mistake #4: Believing fake refresh rates 10:04 Mistake #5: Thinking all HDR TVs are equal 11:44 Mistake #6: Avoiding OLED due to burn-in 14:47
Mistake #1 i can agree on. Will try to get a 65" if i can get the X90 on the next sale. Mistake #2 i can see as well. 8k is just not there yet. Mistake #3 i have to disagree somewhat. You may not need it for much, but it's still better to have it and not need it than to need it and not have it. Mistake #4 Yeah the thing with TVs with thousands of Hz refresh rate sounds very fishy indeed. Mistake #5 I did this unfortunately. The TV i have now is the Samsung 58MU6199 and when i bought it i asked specifically for HDR10 support which this model doesn't have. Mistake #6 I learnd to love OLED with my PSVita, so i know how beautiful the screen is. Also never had issues with burn-in with it. The only reason i hesitate to buy one is the price.
Still i will advise people who are addicted to Satellite channels, not to go for an OLED.. (have some bitter experience ). I would consider OLED just for watching movies and play games with out blips😏
hahahahahahaahahahaah i notied the same and earlier he said an amazing example of self-made content with sex-tapes. hahahahahahaha geniously hilarious he is indeed. I wonder whether he was a hilarious comedian in China sometime.
Several people kept telling me the LG CX 77" was too big, but it's simply awesome and I'm glad I went for the larger size. I'm sitting about 9 feet from it and it doesn't feel too big at all.
I've had an image at least that big for over 10 years with a Panasonic projector (#PTAX200) - it could go wider but my bedroom is too small. It's only 720p but still gave a great image, but it's old now, so it's not worth buying a new £200 lamp. Once you go big you can never go back. I'm unsure if projectors are still the best way to go for a big image on a budget - probably if you want to go even bigger, but a 4k resolution projector would be over £1k.
I'm less than a week with this wonderful channel, but using it I already managed to choose a 4k TV for my mom some days ago and went with 1-5 points mentioned: she wanted Samsung QE43Q60T, and at first I managed to convince her on larger size (since she has to watch SD broadcast, perceived upscaling must bew good) and then to spend more on 120Hz (since she is sensitive to motion). 8k and hdmi 2.1 are not for her anyway. HDR point required watching lots of your vids, and OLED was a no go since she watches TV in a bright room. I ended up choosing Sony KD-49XH9505 and am yet to regret anything.
LOL, right on! Even a disk on today's tech would be the size of an old LP and would have to be changed out every 15 mins. Streaming requires 16 channels. Maybe in 10 years if the developers make their own content...
Aug24th 4k didn't come out till like 2012 720p arrived in the late 90s so terrible analogy like i said 8k ain't ready rn in 2-3 years it will be you 8k folks act like you can't comprehend anything
@@MMTT7sALd Good or bad analogy wasn't the point. The point is, that new technology is almost always coming out even though the market and people aren't totally ready for it. It's the Headphone Jack in iPhones discussion all over again. The point is, that people are right, to Adept. And no, I don't like 8K
Had burn in on my Lg C6 that started last year.Contacted Lg earlier this year and they sent me a check for $2280 2 months ago. Now enjoying my Lg C10.Great customer experience with Lg.
GamezGuru Yes they did send me a check and I did have to return the tv.You having a B6 they may offer you a panel replacement which they did mine but my panel was 3-D and they told me they could only replace it with a non 3-D panel and I told them I would lose the major feature of owning a C6 then they offered me a check.Take it Lg did not even have to offer me a panel replacement being my tv was over 3years old and out of warranty so once again Lg did show great customer loyalty in my situation which is very rare these days.Good luck
@@Jeff-vv1uw that's awesome, in fact outside the garuntee they have no obligation at all! I actually wanted a C6 when I bought mine but was impossible to find here in europe...
Here in Brazil today TVs are really expensive. I have been using a high quality 1080p plasma panel for 6 years at least. Amazing image quality still today, with no issue with burn in at all. I totally agree with you about this. Sure, many years ago with plasma panels burn in was more a thing. If I would buy a TV today I agree 100% with you. Very nice content!
I've never saved a Tech-reviewers videos in favorites (except LTTs april fools special) but this time I will. Jesus this guy is so competent and funny. Great video!
I’ve checked hundreds of tv and electronic reviews and this is my first time coming across your reviews. At the start of the first 10 second I thought, oh god this guy is going to put me to sleep, by the 30 second I was hooked for the full 18-minute ride, and by 1:25 I hit subscribe. Good work. You’re a better man then I am if you can hold on for 2 hole minutes with Gal Gadot.
There are two things I'd like to add, HDMI 2.1 is needed for fully supported Dolby Atmos, also you are thinking of 2020, most people would like to keep their TV for 3-10+ years, and in this time, Hdmi 2.1 will be implemented more and more, so it is still a good argument, when you buy a new TV. But on the rest, I'm with you.
Not true. Only if you like to connect your Blu-ray player to your TV instead of AVR. Many 4K players even have two outputs. One for video and one for audio which can be sent to the AVR. So you have three ways to connect it: 1. TV with sound via eARC 2. Receiver 3. Video to TV and sound to receiver Also many HDMI 2.0 TVs have eARC so this feature doesn’t even require a 2.1 chipset.
I agree with everything, except Mistake #1. If you have a screen that is too big and you watch a movie with subtitles, you will have to choose: do you watch the movie, or do you read the subtitles? Your eyes will go up and down all the time, which ruins your viewing experience.
I’ve had a LG B6 for about 3 years now. I vary my content so wasn’t worried about burn-in. My mistake was turning on high contrast (yellow with no background) captions. Even though they moved they ended up burning in pretty much the entire area that they occupied. I noticed it about 6 months ago and turned them off and the shadow is still there. It’s not terrible and I’ll definitely buy another OLED but just wanted to share for anyone that likes their bright captions! Great video as always, Vincent
No I think hdr is just fine because it moves around, I’ve never had trouble with it. The captions did it because they were always in the same area. I play FPS games in hdr and have never had burn-in with static images like mini-map, compass, etc.
@@jimchain7200 Hdr has nothing to do with overall picture brightness! It's just the range between dark areas and the bright ones like specular highlights who usually don't stay that long in frame, are mostly small and usually move too if it's not something static! Its also has a wider colour space if remember correctly but iam not 100% sure on that right now... That's why the tv turns on full power when it detects a hdr picture to let the bright highlights really pop and the user should not lower any settings which would just reduce the hdr effect!

Actually, the quality has gotten much better for that genre, as recordings are all digital now. Virtually no one shoots video on tape formats anymore. "Tape" has become a verb to indicate any recording.
Not really since most games won’t go up to 4k 120 fps Maybe a few competitive games but if you want to go competitive, then just buy a gaming monitor 🤷🏼♂️
@@shahabrahgozar4338 There's at least 8 Xbox Series X /S games at launch with 120fps support. I run my consoles on a 4K-HDR 60hz 32" monitor, unfortunately there isn't a single monitor on the market with that can run HDR10+/Dolby Vision at 4K@120Hz, nevermind mind HDMI 2.1
Just discovered this gentleman that seems to be an expert in LG OLEDs and he effortlessly explains in very understandable terms. This man is a non native English speaker buy his command of the English language is far superior than most native English speakers. He has easily earned by subscription I have a 2018 LG OLED 65" with B6 which I gladly picked up from an EBAY seller new for $2300 (no taxes or Shipping) so the 3D was not important to me. What do you mean by ex professional calibrator.for me you are a legend and will remain forever, thanks for sharing your valuable knowledge with us, thanks.
Yep! Went from a 7 year old 60" Samsung 1080p to the 75" X900H at a seating distance of 12 Feet fixed. As you stated in your review of the X900H "Can you find another Tv at this price in this screen size (75) with this picture quality..... probably not." Thanks Vincent! 👍
I've been wanting an LG 65 OLED for some time. The C9 was my choice then the CX came out but the lack of channel apps has removed this as an option for me. I think I'll wait to see what the CXI (C11) has and if it improves on the negative feedback they've got from the CX based on it's firmware and missing apps. At this rate I'll be waiting so long that micro LED's will replace OLED as the new gold standard.
Just give up and use the TV you have now until it dies lol. microLED is probably not widely available at OLED affordability for another 10 years if it's not killed.
What channel apps? AMC? TNT? Fox? Buy an Xbox One S. You not only get a 4K Blu-ray player but you get all of the apps you want as well. Get the CX on Black Friday weekend. Every penny is money well spent. It’s totally worth the money and the second you turn it on you’ll only ask yourself why you didn’t get one sooner.
I recently decided to get a X Box Series X console and shortly after, I also decided to upgrade to a 4k tv. I quickly realized that technology had changed a lot in the last 10 years (I got my current tv in 2010), so I needed to get informed in order to make a good choice given my budget and wants. I surfed the internet and watched a number of RUclips videos to learn as much as I could. I started my information gathering in early November 2020 and found that I was watching your channel more than others. The last video I watched is this one ( the mistakes to avoid). I truly like both your professionalism and your common sense approach in reviewing equipment as well as in providing advice to consumers. I finally ordered the Sony XBR A9G, which will be delivered in the first few days of December. I got it at Best Buy and got the extended service plan that does indeed cover « burn-in » should it occur. I will also get the tv calibrated by a Best Buy Geeksquad professional calibrator in January. I still have not got the X Box Series X but I hope that I can get one within a month or two. I wish to thank you for the content that you are putting on RUclips, which was extremely helpful in making my purchase decision and in understanding what I can expect from the console and the display.
The only mistake I need to avoid is buying a TV that won’t fit into my car, then a crowd of people gather around and cheer as I inbox it and try to squeeze in at a weird angle then everyone claps once I figure out a real-world game of Tetris.
I know these mistakes but sometimes friends and family need to hear the same information from a professional. This is the perfect video to do that. Excellent!
I watched it and I would take any 8k over 4k anytime anywhere. He didn't change my perception but maybe it's just me. His reasons are baseless. There are million of phones now that record 8k like S20 and 2 years from now every new phone will be shooting 8k. There are also many other cameras that shoot 8k like Canon R5 and there is even a video card for gamers that can play 8k on some level. This is where the money in the technology is. If he talks movies and tv then he should know that those are losing money and they are still stuck at 2k and maybe stuck there forever . Also the premium of 8k is negligable but the difference in pixels over 4k is enormous (25 megapixels)
Playing Minecraft in 8K is a bucket list goal for me. Totally agree that 8K needs OLED though. Hearing that Samsung isn't going to adopt QD-OLED was a huge disappointment for me, I tend to prefer Samsung image processing (Game Motion Plus does a fantastic job interpolating 60hz content with low latency, since 8K is limited to 60hz right now Samsung is basically my only choice, though I might take LG because of their G-Sync support, except there's basically no way LG is going to buy QD-OLED from Samsung (Aaargh!))
@@gledatelj1979 LOL, S20 8k quality is just a shit. And it is capturing 30 fps. I would prefer 60 fps 4k over 8k@30 fps. 8k video capturing on phones is just pure marketing and gimmick. It will be the same for at least 3-5 years from now. Same with games. Bigger fps feels better than going from 4k to 8k. Noone will play games in 8k for the next 3-5 years. Cannot say about anything cameras though.

I have a question in regards to mitake #1, Do bigger OLEDs have the same brightness as their smaller counterparts or are they a little bit darker due to security limiters to protect the organic components?
Funny guy. Gets my vote just for that. Well i bought an LG OLED CX 55" not 2 weeks ago and yes i am a bit worried about burn-in because quite a lot has been said about it. Having said that, I think the TV is awesome..........so far.

2 minutes with Gal Gadot is all I need....You are good :)
I agree with Vincent because even for console gamers I don’t think you really need hdmi 2.1 unless playing competitive games that actually reach further than 60 FPS. Unless you have a 3080 or 3090 graphics card. Allm is pointless really because it just saves you a few clicks. Earc is actually useful because it eliminates the lag between tv sound and sound bar so you can use both at the same time. 4k 120 and vrr for those competitive games. So it’s only for a small percent of people that really need hdmi 2.1. It has to be someone who games on next gen console or a graphics card and play competitive games and have the actual budget of having the next platform and tv. Edit: Also get this man a Gal Gadot he deserves it.
I can't even find a C9 let alone a B9, I'm trying to get a 65 inch and they get expensive very fast so I looked at previous models, they're nowhere to be found
Cavey Möth Fair enough if the 48” fits your set up better. I was going to get a 48” CX purely because it fitted my budget at £1500 rather than for space reasons, now though I can go for the 55” and have some money left over. Glad I waited now. 🙂
SeaSesh I think they recently finished the stock. Because one day the c9 and the b9 were there and the next day it wasn’t. I think it’s because Black Friday because they can’t lower the price anymore or it’s not selling very much. Wait for the bx on Black Friday I’d say.
My budget allows an 86 inch TV which takes about 8 months to purchase completely. The TV shows the college student all the details required to view any information coming from tutors which would otherwise have been missed using a smaller TV. Too small TVs can be harmful to the eyes. The best experience with monitors and TVs has been in the 32 to 43, and 49 to 86 inches range for many happy customers in Iceland. Special greetings to the people of both Koreas and elsewhere across Asia in Iceland. Thank you so much for these beautiful creations and for the hard work which was put into them!
About HDMI 2.1 I just want to note a couple of things for gamers out there: 1) HDMI 2.0 only supports 4K 60Hz with 8 bit RGB color. If you want to game using 10 bit color you need HDMI 2.1 And don't even try using 10bit 4:2:2 over HDMI 2.0 because it looks like absolute garbage. 2) HDMI 2.1 at 40Gbps is sufficient to play at 4K 120Hz with 10 bit color RGB. So while it's upsetting TV manufacturers don't implement full bandwidth and try to deceive costumers into thinking they are getting the full 48Gbps chances are the limitation wont affect you in practice should you decide to buy a TV with gimped HDMI 2.1 in the near future. (Also note 48Gbps wont really make a difference in practice until we start seeing 12bit color TVs reaching 1-2000nits and beyond at a consumer level, so you don't really need to stress about it for now.)
You don't need HDMI 2.1 for to get 10 bit though. There are lots of HDMI 2.0 10 bit panels since 2.0 supports chroma 4:4:4 and 10 bit color coding and it looks just fine. 2.1 goes up to 12 bit though but there aren't many 12 bit tv panels.
I purchased the Samsung Q95T at 75 inches, the only reason I didn't go for the 85 inch versions is because that one can't go up the stairs, trust me, I've tried, so they took it back and we agreed they simple came back with the 75 Inch one. As for 8k, I agree, kinda useless, not only for normal tv use but also for pc gaming. I would not understand someone choosing 8k @ 60hz when 4k @ 120hz is an option. And I indeed also noticed in video's that the Samsung 8k tv's for example do show less brightness compared to their 4k models, even though my Q95T is 4k with 2000 nits the 8k's with 3 or up to 4000 nits in reality show actually less brightness because of reasons given in the video. As for Hdmi 2.1, I need it since I connect a pc. But I agree with everything told in this video. Also need 120hz for my pc setup. HDR? I don't care, doesn't really work great on pc anyway atm, but don't mind having it. Burn-in? Yeah, I'm scared like hell, Oled won't survive me using the panel as a pc monitor 12+ hours a day. I really tried thinking of a solution to make Oled work as a monitor for 12+ hours a day. I could remove all desktop images and hide the taskbar and then run something like wallpaper engine to make sure my screen will never show static images when it's left on. And I could activate all LG software tricks to prevent burn-in like pixel shift and everything else LG made to prevent burn-in. Also turning down the already relatively low brigtness of 700 nits down to maybe 500 nits could help. And after this I still want to go into every game I play and remove UI elements I don't need or only make them show when needed or when it makes sense and lower opacity of everything static if and whenever possible. So I thought about a lot to prevent burn-in and make Oled possible for my use case but I think it would still not be enough to prevent burn-in and this would make my experience a real pain in the bum. I would say Oled all the way for almost everyone, unless you turn the Oled tv/panel into your pc monitor and use it for 6+ hours a day, around 12 in my case.
I avoided 5/6 mistakes. As for the OLED burn in, I was worried about it but mainly my budget steered me away from OLED. I wanted a 75 inch tv and OLED was just unfortunately too expensive. $3K+ and then another 100 for a good Atmos soundbar. Was just too much :/
I would honestly tell most people I know if your gonna make the leap to oled you really need.to.consider your average use.case scenarios. If play games at a very super causal or don't play games at all then a 2.1 120hz tv would utterly useless and an overkill to some extent. I tell most people to instead go with an LG A1 and now especially with them being at only $1300 for a.65' its a no brainer.
Atmos soundbar... That made me laugh out loud. A sound bar is a single channel center speaker at best. Good for speech. You might be able to render a hint of 3.0 channels from a 5.1 signal, but then you need to sit less than the width of the bar distance in the middle. I don't care about surround myself, but under the TV is a 10kg center speaker, and on both sides it is 30kg floor standing speakers. That is proper 3.0 sound, I could mix in some subwoofer channel sound, but I don't, 80-20000kHz range will do. Atmos has all sound sources as separate streams with their precise 3D location. Try render that all on the same soundbar spot in the room.... They usually have like 30 speakers for Atmos in a theater.
Always listen to Vincent.....I bought an LG b7 & got screen burn in after 6 months ! No LG support. I would take some convincing to go for an OLED ever again.
For the latest generation of consoles. The 120hz has been the single most impactful change moving from the previous generation for me. I play a lot of online and huge campaign experiences. It really is a game-changer as currently a lot of games that aren't particularly new experiences but are a smoother version of the older games. I do think downplaying the HDMI 2.1 is a mistake but I can see that at the moment the games list is limited. If they're buying a tv in 2020 they probably want it to last a few years and as the lists of supported games increases, there's only going to be more there missing out on.
You think, and that's okay but it also is wrong. They are smoother because of the underlying hardware. Higher frequency is just a nice to have but yes, HDMI 2.1 is future proof. I think what he meant was mot to buy a smaller Tv within the budget constraints or not to compromise on the Tv that you really like just because another one has 2 to 4x HDMI 2.1 and I think that's great advice.
I have an LG B6 55" OLED, I game on it a lot and over the last few years I've had the TV it's suffered some pretty significant burn in. When it comes to getting a new TV I don't think I will be able to sell this for very much money so I'm going to look at alternatives like QLED.
I'm surrendered to Oled, but I intend to buy a new television to play 95% of the time and the rest to watch a movie or another once in a while, with this purpose is Qled a better option? (in order to avoid burn in)
7:53 AV guys were saying 4K/120 would be vaporware all year, but we've already got a few high framerate games confirmed for the new consoles. (DMCV:SE, Halo Infinite, etc.)
Also VRR affects *all* games on the XSX and PS5. I think Vincent was a bit unclear as he didn't initially mention it alongside 4k120, which is going to be somewhat uncommon, but he later brought VRR up as being "only for gamers." VRR is useful for all gamers, unlike 4k120, but not for other content.
I have a 55' Westinghouse TV I bought for $125 at an auction, back in 2017. It was used at a restaurant for like sport games etc. I'm currently looking into getting a 70' 4K tv.
The gaming related features are hugely important to me personally. I'm really hoping Panasonic implements them next year so I can use my staff discount to buy one from my work.
I am still using my Pioneer kuro 500A which has been great, but now thinking about changing to QLED TV, how do these compare to the kuro TVs which I believe was or maybe is still the best TV produced. The black on the kuros are amazing.
I'll wait. Still rocking a Sony 900f (65) Wan't to go bigger, but also want to save money. My brain is having fun jumping between the pros and cons of getting a 77inch sony OLED vs a projector. I'll just keep waiting, since more and more features keep coming out that I'll apparently need to future proof it.
Dear all, another thing we all need to be aware of is OLED televisions can have what they call rippling on screen. This is caused by the protective coating on screen to ensure no glare. Unfortunately I discovered this on my Panasonic JZ series. Kinda of a big surprise when you order a flagship television and it looks like it has waves on it when viewing from certain angles.
@@vfplayer just cause they give this channel a fix so they have good press doesnt mean its available. ive called lg 5 days in a row. no fix available. been escalated twice no luck. i even have local lg support company working on it. i even offered to pay them but no luck. its not available as general release and their support is not giving it out.
Gormond dont have the cx. But really ..., saying they fixed it. When you can only get it for one model on a South Korean support site??? And supplied by Forbes and official lg support says get lost...
Regarding size, I'd like to point out that it depends on the content you're viewing. Especially if you're mainly watching series, they're often shot expecting you to be able to simultaneously see the whole shot, while on the other hand a nature documentary might be shot more with the immersion in mind. In the former I'd want the whole screen within my focus view, while I'm the latter I'd want the screen extending into my periphery vision for the amazing immersion. I think this should be considered when selecting size, not only what you can physically fit
My next TV will be an LG OLED, I'm not concerned about Burn In. I would be more concerned about Brain Burn In damage, If you watched CNN for 4 or five years str8.
Hey i understand that alot of people are thinking bout cutting the cord away from traditional cable but if you're going to have all these streaming services and still try and get gb internet access you're literally defeating the purpose of leaving in the 1st place you should really look into phone tv and internet bundles from places like Comcast or verizon fios .... Comcast was pretty great and fios I'm getting somewhere around 650mbs and up i also have all the channels in terms of tv ond only paying $280 usd and this is not a promotional deal price either
Loving every single video, you're incredibly professional and funny at the same time! I enjoy a lot your videos, keep up the good work Vincent! Greeting from Italy
ive seen the best buy geek squad protection page and it does clearly state that burn in and ghosting is covered but i used the online chat to confirm with a rep that it is covered and they didnt know and i then called the 866 # to talk with a rep and they said it wasnt covered and that i would have to contact the manufacturer about it so i dont know what best buys policy is now. i did end up buying an 55" LG CX anyway, i was originally shopping around for a samsung Q80T but after watching alot of your videos i saw that the LG CX suits my needs better. love the channel you do great work
Bro, you're too funny. You keep me so informed that I forget you can be funny. "For instance, I could spend 2 minutes with Gal Gadot ... because that's all I'll need..."🤣
I've wondered if the 16:9 aspect ratio has encouraged people to want bigger and bigger because they are never satisfied with the amount of vertical space in the composition. The aspect ratio of human vision might be closer to 3:2?
I will add some more potential reasons to avoid OLEDs 1/ even if burn in is rare, there is always a wear out which is not consistent - how is it with colors (each color wears in another speed so it must lead to need to calibrate after some time periods ?) and with side areas (black bars with non 16:9 content - very often situation for movie fans) 2/ OLED stutter - is it only 24 frames playback problem or is it visible even on TV broadcasting (50/60Hz) for sensitive people ? Is IFC acceptable solution for this ? 3/ black crush and near black details ? Maximum details and good dark colors are more important as "true" black (black hole due to black crush). 4/ on some comparing videos (OLED vs LED) it seems LED have more nuanced and natural colors 5/ panel reflections
So I am buying my first OLED TV and I get a decent discount on LG products through work. This will be the last TV I buy for around 7 years so I want it to last and don't want to regret it. The TV will be in a dimley-lit basement which if I'm not mistaken is good for OLED's as outside brightness can make it a less pleasurable viewing experience. I will mostly be using the TV for PS5, Nintendo Switch, Apple TV 4K HDR content, movies, and cable TV. I am intrigued by the new Samsung and Sony QD-OLED's but have had bad experiences with Samsung in the past and the Sony QD-OLED's are out of my price range. I also know that the technology is new for QD-OLED so I'm unsure of the longevity of this first wave. The prices with discount for the four LG models that I am considering are as follows: LG C1: $1580 LG G1: $1806 LG C2: $2257 LG G2: $2709 I am kind of leaning either towards the C1 to save money or the G2 to be future-proofed with the heat-sync and higher peak brightness. I would love to hear everyone's thoughts as I am not super knowledgable about the specs of each of these. I know the G2 just came out so it is higher priced than it will be down the road but I need a new TV now and am curious if it's a waste to spend the extra $1200 or so? Like would I really notice the difference? Just wondering your thoughts on all this. Thanks!

8K if have room for 75 inch for LCD/LED or bigger 77inch or bigger for OLED
I am still gonna watch the whole thing to listen "ting" worthy raunchy slip ins

Several people kept telling me the LG CX 77" was too big, but it's simply awesome and I'm glad I went for the larger size. I'm sitting about 9 feet from it and it doesn't feel too big at all.
Facts I got a 77 LG GX...I SIT 10' surrounded by 7 R-51m's with dual subs. I got my 1st noise complaint 🤣
I'm watching from 3.5 meters and 65" is too big for me. I would stick with the 50".
We are different and there is no magic number that fits us all.

Ah, tech reviews and dry humor: a match made in heaven!

I'm happy you addressed 8k because for there is a group of people out there that don't seem to understand that 8k is just not practical rn
LOL, right on! Even a disk on today's tech would be the size of an old LP and would have to be changed out every 15 mins. Streaming requires 16 channels. Maybe in 10 years if the developers make their own content...
720p people said the same about 4K back then.
Aug24th 4k didn't come out till like 2012 720p arrived in the late 90s so terrible analogy like i said 8k ain't ready rn in 2-3 years it will be you 8k folks act like you can't comprehend anything

So you have three ways to connect it:
1. TV with sound via eARC
2. Receiver
3. Video to TV and sound to receiver
Also many HDMI 2.0 TVs have eARC so this feature doesn’t even require a 2.1 chipset.
Keep a TV for up to 10 years WTF.

So with oled it make sense to avoid hdr movies since bright scenes increase burn in
No I think hdr is just fine because it moves around, I’ve never had trouble with it.
Well if you don't mind buying another television before 2024 then enjoy
what about white / gray / translucent subtitles? I like anime so subtitles is a must...

I've been wanting an LG 65 OLED for some time. The C9 was my choice then the CX came out
but the lack of channel apps has removed this as an option for me. I think I'll wait to see what the CXI (C11) has and if it improves on the negative feedback they've got from the CX based on it's firmware and missing apps. At this rate I'll be waiting so long that micro LED's will replace OLED as the new gold standard.
Don't crown micro led ad the new champ till it comes out.
All new tech have some kind of issue.

I got it at Best Buy and got the extended service plan that does indeed cover « burn-in » should it occur. I will also get the tv calibrated by a Best Buy Geeksquad professional calibrator in January. I still have not got the X Box Series X but I hope that I can get one within a month or two.

Do bigger OLEDs have the same brightness as their smaller counterparts or are they a little bit darker due to security limiters to protect the organic components?
The most under rated comedy channel - wait, it's a tech channel ? 😄
That's not what earc is

My budget allows an 86 inch TV which takes about 8 months to purchase completely. The TV shows the college student all the details required to view any information coming from tutors which would otherwise have been missed using a smaller TV. Too small TVs can be harmful to the eyes. The best experience with monitors and TVs has been in the 32 to 43, and 49 to 86 inches range for many happy customers in Iceland. Special greetings to the people of both Koreas and elsewhere across Asia in Iceland. Thank you so much for these beautiful creations and for the hard work which was put into them!
About HDMI 2.1 I just want to note a couple of things for gamers out there:
1) HDMI 2.0 only supports 4K 60Hz with 8 bit RGB color.
So what you're saying is going from a 2018 Samsung Q7FN to an LG CX is a big upgrade :o
@@nathanpickering6742 Please read my post again, because you completely missed too many details.
@@RaydeusMX what's your point then?
Do I really need a 120hz tv if I'm not using it for gaming?
My A90J is up and running; I love it but am waiting for your full review and preferred settings.

I have always loved tv’s. Thanks to this channel I can learn so much about picture quality and tv
"I would give anything to get an extra 13 inches"...hahahahahahahahahahahaha.. Well done Vincent. Keep up the good work. Love all your reviews.
Priceless humor!
I wish I had seen your video back in 2018 when I purchased a QE55Q7FN. Yes, I should have gone with an OLED but was worried about screen burn in...
One thing I’ve learned is if your wife says “Oh no, that TV is way too big” then it isn’t big enough and you should go the next size up. 👍👍
sadly my mom says that at 55 inch
I am still using my Pioneer kuro 500A which has been great, but now thinking about changing to QLED TV, how do these compare to the kuro TVs which I believe was or maybe is still the best TV produced. The black on the kuros are amazing.
Thanks for clarifying hdmi 2.1 & HDR subject. Do you have any comparisons with Micro-LED vs OLED? Are they getting closer as far as picture quality? 🤔
Man.... you’re funny as hell! My Wife and Kid always talk about how I listen to you too much. Lol
Did he say ex professional calibrator?
Covid
He clearifyed in a previous episode (can't remember which tho) that he stopped calibrating for now
@@seasesh4073 thats about fucking time.
maybe he started to learn that you cant calibrate narrow bandwidth displays to reference.
Not only is your technical knowledge second to none, your humour makes your channel really accessible. You are a funny guy. 👍👊
Brillant Vincent, perfect timing for Black Friday!
That was a very good guide for people not knowing what exactly to look for when buying first 4k tv ever. Thank you for this useful video :)
15:50 “because that’s how long I need” this man is too funny
I'm not able to afford a real nice TV unfortunately, last week I got a Samsung Tu7000 50 inch and I sit about 4 feet away lol. It's all I really need
Vincent, I love all your videos!!! Your vids are so incredibly informative and technical yet your dead-pan humour is freaking hilarious 🤣
Great channel and great content! Anyone with even a remote interest in this subject needs to watch this often.
Buying for HDMI 2.1 LG OLED over Sony Bravia picture motion and upscaling buying for particular port isn’t a good thing mainly aimed at 8K
gsync broke on lg on 30 series card. dont buy unless they fix it first...
@jergernice1 they have issued firmware fix for this already from what this channel has shown.
@@jergernice1 You can get the new firmware for the CX on the South Korean site - Forbes had a link to it.
Or zoom with your feet as with cameras - either bring the tv closer or bring yourself cloer, as needed.
My next TV will be an LG OLED, I'm not concerned about Burn In. I would be more concerned about Brain Burn In damage, If you watched CNN for 4 or five years str8.
Excellent! Honestly educational for someone such as myself that has no experience with modern smart tv's.
You are pumping out videos like no mans business.
He said he is x- professional TV calibrator
Vero. È il n1!
ive seen the best buy geek squad protection page and it does clearly state that burn in and ghosting is covered but i used the online chat to confirm with a rep that it is covered and they didnt know and i then called the 866 # to talk with a rep and they said it wasnt covered and that i would have to contact the manufacturer about it so i dont know what best buys policy is now. i did end up buying an 55" LG CX anyway, i was originally shopping around for a samsung Q80T but after watching alot of your videos i saw that the LG CX suits my needs better. love the channel you do great work
Bro, you're too funny. You keep me so informed that I forget you can be funny. "For instance, I could spend 2 minutes with Gal Gadot ... because that's all I'll need..."🤣
Still rocking my 1080p Samsung from 2012 and my 4K Vizio from 2015 both still work both still look amazing
Ok i was laughing when he said at the beginning "As a two man team..." and it was him in a cap behind the camera. Have I missed something?
I've wondered if the 16:9 aspect ratio has encouraged people to want bigger and bigger because they are never satisfied with the amount of vertical space in the composition. The aspect ratio of human vision might be closer to 3:2?
Vincent, you are hilarious. The Gal Gadot analogy was perfect.
I will add some more potential reasons to avoid OLEDs
1/ even if burn in is rare, there is always a wear out which is not consistent - how is it with colors (each color wears in another speed so it must lead to need to calibrate after some time periods ?) and with side areas (black bars with non 16:9 content - very often situation for movie fans)
2/ OLED stutter - is it only 24 frames playback problem or is it visible even on TV broadcasting (50/60Hz) for sensitive people ? Is IFC acceptable solution for this ?
3/ black crush and near black details ? Maximum details and good dark colors are more important as "true" black (black hole due to black crush).
4/ on some comparing videos (OLED vs LED) it seems LED have more nuanced and natural colors
5/ panel reflections
I had a 40 Samsung and got an LGC9 65” and I thought it was going to be too big. 😳 but my girl loves it!
Pun intended
That's what she said
Yeah she does 👀

The prices with discount for the four LG models that I am considering are as follows:
LG C1: $1580
LG G1: $1806
LG C2: $2257
LG G2: $2709
I am kind of leaning either towards the C1 to save money or the G2 to be future-proofed with the heat-sync and higher peak brightness. Thanks!
