    Not sure about this one - making a normal basketball move to get off shot via step through.

    I've always questioned how frequently flagrants have been called on plays like this in recent years -- and on all levels of basketball.

    • @HannahDisponett
      @HannahDisponett Год назад +2

      Simple
      1) it was intentional
      2) it was above the shoulders

    • @Deined
      @Deined Год назад +3

      @@HannahDisponett It's not that simple, actually. I've seen plenty of flagrants called on hits that weren't intentional.

    • @HannahDisponett
      @HannahDisponett Год назад +2

      @@Deined, well this was intentional...because of the look on the player that threw the elbow. If Mitchell didn't mean to do something like that then why the smirk after she did it?
      And even the announcer said that the flagrant was because "because of contact above the shoulders."

      @Deined Год назад +1

      @@HannahDisponett I was talking more about when shots to the head and/or neck in general are called for flagrants. Much more often than not, the contact is incidental, but the flagrant is called over half the time a whistle is blown on it anyway.
      Also, I watched this play a few times now, and I'm not seeing a smirk from Mitchell. The worst I see is her giving an annoyed look, and that may be more from the whistle being blown to stop the play than anything.

      @@Deined, the replay angle is different than in real time. In real time you see the smirk.
      And as far as the flagrant...some are incidental but it should ALWAYS be called be a flagrant because all contact above the shoulders is a flagrant...incidental or on purpose.
      This elbow and the elbow thrown by AB against Stewie...were flagrant 1s and had the refs seen the smirk by Mitchell and the glare by AB they would have upgraded them to F2s which would/should have resulted in ejections.

    I've argued for more leniency for elbows for years. Yes this has been a flagrant for a while so I don't mind my favorite player getting that call.

    It's interesting watching this now.....if this was Clark the social media knuckleheads would be calling it a flop and whining and crying if the ref called it a flagrant. But, as far as this foul....a flagrant is bs...it was just play and Sabrina fell back to put on a more flagrant look.

    The replay angle sucks...the Lynx player smirked at Sab after the elbow but they didn't show that.
    Just like AB glared down at Stewie when she elbowed her but that didn't get seen neither!!
    It's behavior like that that gives the African American race a bad name.
    If you don't appreciate people looking down on you, don't act childish...its very simple to change the narrative that has been created about them.

      Girls can be bad a$$ too.
      P.S.- You don't have to hit someone and run the risk of breaking something on them or you to prove toughness. I realize some "men" are idiots that require proof but SCREW THEM...women can be just as tough as men...NO PROOF NECESSARY!!
