The thing about Kenan is that he kinda _is_ SNL at this point. He's been on the show for 21 years, the longest-running cast member by a LOT, and he was already good when he started because he's been doing sketch comedy since his teens, so past a certain point he became like the absolute stillpoint for the show. No matter the overall quality of a season, Kenan Will Be Funny. It's axiomatic. There is no sketch he cannot carry on his own if it's flagging, and nothing he will get in the way of instead of build up when it's going well. So we end up with people not mentioning Kenan in the way they don't mention the sky is blue for most of the day when discussing the weather. Of _course_ Kenan is funny. That's the baseline. Of course, that only enhances the rare times when a guy who has a solid claim, as much from longevity as anything else, to be the Best Sketch Comedian There Has Ever Been, the standard of professionalism against which the whole industry is judged, cracks and breaks character a little.
@@donnywilliamson5807 Well, Seth can see the cue cards too, so he knows what joke is coming. Also, John Mulaney who co-writes the sketch with Bill will sometimes add jokes or change things last-minute without telling Bill... so that may be why why laughed a little extra.
Still not over the fact that John mulaney who wrote for Stefan, made it his mission every time to get bill hader to say the most ridiculous things so he would break. And he would change the scripts last minute too so he’d be surprised 😂
It's not even just that he doesn't crack, it's that he keeps the exact same look of barely-feigned polite interest because a stranger is telling him a story they obviously find meaningful. Imagine you are going to absolute pieces trying to get through your line and you look at the kid and his slightly raised eyebrows of "no kidding? wow" have not moved a millimeter.
Dan Cortese the most obscure random name ever thrown out there. I’d crack up too! Btw if nobody knows who he is he used to host a show called MTV sports I think it was called and was Tony the mimbo who George was in love with 😂
I never cared one way or a other about Ryan Goaali g until I saw the Colleen skits with Kate McKinnon! I roll in the floor laughing when he loses his mind laughing. Funniest skits ever!!
SNL isnt a show with funny skits, its secretly a game show where the contestants play "who can make the other break character" and the episodes where they break are always the best xD
Much preferred it when cracking in a scene was seen as a negative. Feel like Fallon was the one that made laughing in a scene an intentional part of his appearances.
Why do serious? It’s a live show and they are going to make mistakes and laugh. If it wasn’t funny, you wouldn’t hear the audience laughing. Kate McKinnon and Cecile Strong and Kristen Wiig were hilarious!!
The vast majority of these clips are relatively recent. I think the reason is that the earlier casts were better actors -- less likely to make themselves laugh.
Umm... for being a 10 day old vid, this seems a LOT like the same sequence of an exact video I saw ages ago.... only 4 "scenes" in, and I could swear the other had the same showing order... Is this a copy and repost from someone else? If so, that's kinda a douche thing to do, ya know.. and I don't see you citing source material, either..
They didn't call the show Saturday Night Live for nothing. It was all done live, so mistakes were likely to occur. It's part of the reason why the show was so popular. U tuned in to watch the actors break up during their skit. 😁
The cut to the wide shot in the alien abduction sketch, revealing Gosling is barely holding it together, is pure television.
I don't know how anyone could keep a straight face in a scene with Cecily Strong... As soon as she starts getting going, I'm cracking up!
Shes awesome!! Super underrated when she was there!!😁😁🤟🤟
yah, she was very good
She never cracked in that alien abduction interview
Bill Hader is in half of these just because he makes himself laugh so much. 😂
They would change his cue cards for Stephon just to crack him up.

Chris Farley would go out of his way to make everyone on set loose it before he would finish his skits. He was a class act that guy. He is missed.
😁😁🤟🤟💪💪
He was the best!
The beavjs and butthead skit was easily the best one. The fact that all of the actors but Keenan broke just made it sooo much better
Nobody ever mentions Kenan but.... just his facial expressions put me on the damn floor laughing!! He's WAY under rated on SNL...

I love how the professional actors always break 😂
...except Adam Driver.
"Sidney Applebaum" is one of the greatest jokes ever.
I never got that one. Is that a person well known in NYC.
@@donnywilliamson5807 Instead of another clever, cool sounding moniker like "Blackula", it's just a regular, very Jewish sounding name.

MTV’s Dan Cortese is right up there too

Ragene is the only time I ever saw Vanessa break. Hader broke about every other sketch, but it took a lot to get V Bayer
Laughing is contagious, that it the beauty of "filmed live in front of a studio audience!"
The kid at 7:33 isn't breaking even as Fred disintegrates
I think Fred laughs even more cause of the kid doesn’t break character 😂
cause Fred isn't all that funny to begin with

Dave chappelle
Dan Cortez.

The kid at 7:40 playing it straight was awesome.
Ryan Gosling is hilarious 😂😂😂

Either Kate's Mrs. Raffrety or Beavis/Butthead tops. But I'm SO tired of seeing Fallon break. It's all he ever did on SNL.
Hader too.
Armisen in drag looks, for reasons I can't even begin to comprehend, both shockingly and unsurprisingly like Carrie Brownstein.
Oh! That's so true and hilarious.
You forgot the best one. Will
Ferrell with more cowbell. He cracks the cast members up so bad in that.
Will Farrell never breaks.
this was hilarious, I couldn't stop laughing. And it was so fun that this didn't affect the aura of sketches
This video should really be called "Bill Hader can't hold his shit together."
Nobody talkin about how Dave Chappelle sounds like when they try to keep people’s identities hidden on them old talk shows
Horatio Sanz and Jimmy Fallon not breaking character would be more unusual!
You can barely get through a Horatio Sanz or Jimmy Fallon skit without having to pause for the breaking
Carol Burnett wrote the book on how not to show your laughter.
How did she do it with Tim Conway there??
@@fleshanthosshe didn’t with the elephant joke if i remember correctly

There should be zero jimmy fallon scenes cause laughing during a scene was all he could do.
Now, he makes $15,000,000 a year.
Edit: it’s $16,000,000. just checked.

Was that the Lady with Jimmy Fallon who did the Break Dancing impersonation of RayGun on his Show ??? 😂😂😂
this is the real snl . back in the beginning this was the show and it was amazing
Ryan Gossling can never stay in character
He always ends up in the best sketches, i can't blame him
Fred Armisen is hilarious
He has rizz too. Even playing ridiculous characters. So talented.
8:30 Everyone needs a pass in this one. I don't know if anyone would be able to keep it together and stay character around Chris Farley...
Will Ferral breaking was so rare, but it was always justified
Can you imagine how hard it would be to make Jimmy Fallon break? You'd have to like show up and be "wokka wokka".
Bill Hader is a treasure lol.
2:00 ACCURATE 😂
Quite frankly I'm amazed that Jimmy Fallon is not in every one of these scenes...
Jimmy Fallon broke character every skit. His fake laugh on his talk show is annoying
Yes!!!!
He was a trumptard
I’ve never been able to fully forgive Fallon for being so laughy and cutesy.
how he ever got on snl and a talk show is trash
He’s a lib what do you expect??😂😂😂
Jimmy Fallon isn’t so much breaking character, as never getting into character.
what the song at 6:10 ?😮
Missed the Brendan Fraser/Xena skit when the entire cast lost it, not just 1-2 of them
MrBallen out of nowhere on the left.
Stop and dislike as soon as Fallon and Sans show up. It's not noteworthy when they break. It's all they did.
You know Horatio and Jimmy were stoned to begin with.
Say what you want about “Boomers”, but dang were they lucky to be able to witness the magic of The Beatles as it happened.

Bill Hader is break very often, but so did Chris Kattan and Jimmy Fallon.

Cracking up during a scene is a way to get a cheap laugh during a weak scene.
