After a day in the parks it was nice to have a golf cart and not wait on an internal bus. Plus it’s part of the experience of Fort Wilderness. It’s a must for me.

All of what you said makes sense and is true.... but let's face it, the real reason to get a golf cart is because they are freaking fun LOL

0:28 Fyi, you need to show proof of insurance on the golf cart if you bring your own in.

We never rent a golf cart. I am sure it is probably convenient however the cost is way too much for us. On our first trip to Fort Wilderness they put us on a campsite that was too small, moved us to another site that already had someone there. By the time we were settled it was after 10pm with a 4 and 9 year old. One of the things they did to say sorry was give us a golf cart for free for part of our stay. We hardly used it. I think once when it was raining but that was about it.

Golf carts are definitely a necessity at Fort Wilderness. I do wonder if adding a perk to ownership there now that it is DVC is an included golf cart when staying on points would help sales or overall member satisfaction.

That's an interesting idea. I definitely think that adding that as a perk would definitely add value for those guests staying on points. I mean, it's at minimum a $70 value per night. I'm imagine that would make The Cabins a bit more appealing to some members. It certainly would be a more definable trade-off to laundry.

Can you easily rent a golf cart by the day during your stay? If planning to be at the parks pretty much all day straight for a couple days followed by a recuperation/rest day at FW, is it straightforward or complicated to turn in a golf cart and start a new rental a couple days letter?

I think the biggest challenge is going to be availability. We went the route of reserving our cart prior to our arrival, so we were locked in for our stay. Had we waited, we would have been out of luck as they had been sold out. . . at least the few times we stopped by the front desk [there was a sign].

Is there a large deposit when renting a golf cart, similar to reserving a rental car? Is any safety training required to complete the golf cart rental?

You pay for your rental in full when you pick up your cart. For us, this was on check-in day. There was some basic training on how to use the cart and basic safety info but nothing too in depth.

I think it was a mistake to make Fort Wilderness Cabins into a moderate resort without a laundry in room. On Vacation who wants to lug laundry anywhere?
