This song really hit me this morning. My mother loves Engelbert, she is 91 and in a memory care home. She has sever dementia, some days I don't know if she knows me, but these songs still make her happy.

Engelbert Humperdinck was one of my dad’s all time favorite artists. My dad passed away last year at 86 yrs old. I played an Engelbert song for him last year and he started to cry. My dad was known as a great dancer and he had a lot of wonderful memories of holding his girl close while slow dancing to an Engelbert song. ❤❤❤
Thank you for posting this video.

Growing up in the 1970s we used to think of Engelbert Humperdinck as "old people music" and make fun of his name.
When we got a little older we became secret Engelbert Humperdinck fans.
Then we got a little bit older, our attitude was we're Engelbert Humperdinck fans and proud of it 😀

It's so funny to me when I think about it. This was released a little after Kiss Alive came out and I was way into them and thought Englebert was old people music, but my parents were in their mid to late 30's!

Engelbert is one of the great crooners with such a smooth relaxing voice. His career has spanned almost 7 decades. His first hit song was "Release Me" in 1967. He has had many great songs including "The Last Waltz", "There Goes My Everything", "Am I That Easy To Forget", "Les Bicyclettes de Belsize", "Winter World Of Love", "This Moment In Time", "Love Will Set You Free", "Quando, Quando, Quando", "Love Me With All Of Your Heart" etc.

Lolol ..I've known the song by heart my whole life and just recently thought, wow, that's not appropriate for a 4 year old to dance to. Lol and my cousin shook her booty so hard the audience was in stitches!

Tom Jones' Manager Gordon Mills was approached by British singer Arnold George Dorsey about helping him become a star like Tom Jones. Gordon Mills renamed Mr. Dorsey "Englebert Humperdink" and did indeed succeed in making him a star. Then, Tom Jones, Englebert Humperdink and Gordon Mills later created their own record label. When Englebert Humperdink eventually left the label, he and Tom became estranged. They're both magnificent singers. Luca has Spidey powers now! :o)

Jay said Englebert reminded him of Tom Jones. They were contemporaries with a friendly rivalry, they had the same Manager back in the day at the height of their careers. Their Manager told Englebert to stick to the crooner songs, while Tom would specialize in more of the rock style. There is a super funny clip on RUclips where Tom Jones makes a guest appearance on Englebert's TV series from the late 1960's. They both make fun of each other, imitate each other's singing style in a comedic way, and they sing each other's hits. Worth watching.

As for Mr. E.H. ....there isn't a better "mood" voice from that era! In this one he's explaining what real love is. And as a 16 yo this boy actually listened and learned.
My youthful romances only went so far. Unless there were true feelings.

Another classic artist you should check out is Neil Sedaka, who had many hits in the 60’s and some in the 70’s one song “Breaking up is hard to do” a fast version in the 60’s and a wonderful slow version in the 70’s also in the 70’s “Laughter in the Rain” AWESOME hit!!!!! In the 60’s “Happy Birthday sweet sixteen” “Calendar Girl” “Oh Carol” about when Carol King was his girlfriend.
Also, British invasion from the 60’s another friend of the Beatles Rock crooner Billy J Kramer “Bad to Me” Also ““From a window” Both written by John and Paul.

One of his biggest hits, "The Last Waltz" was the "wedding dance" favorite in the '70s.

That Amber just goes all in on those old songs and that's proof enough for me and it speaks volumes for her taste in music. Jay it's about time to blow some fuses with some Stevie Ray Vaughn don't you think ?

Fun Fact: Engelbert and Tom Jones came into our lives round about the same time snd people chose 'their camp'. Tom was raunchy, hip grinding and overtly sexy with the ladies throwing their pants at him - whereas Engelbert was smooth as silk and had the ladies swooning with anticipation and delight. Both had great voices!!!

TOM JONES " I'm Never gonna Fall in Love Again" , one of his BEST, a GEM, that you still have not reacted to. It is almost a crime !!! Also ABBA's " Dancing Queen", song that defined the Disco era with the BEEGEE's.

I was a teenager when this song came out and it was a huge hit. My mother was NUTS about him and Tom Jones too. You also have very sweet children that you both, obviously, dearly love. ❤

This song was Engelbert Humperdinck"s last Top 40 hit on the Billboard Hot 100 chart. This beautiful song peaked at the #8 spot during the spring of 1976. This song is my all-time favorite by Mr. Engelbert.
