This probably sounds really obvious but borrowing "going out" clothes from roommates or friends was such a thing for me in university. I remember there was this one black top that we shared between our friend group and it avoided us having to buy a bunch of new clothes all the time

Say it louder for the people in the back: LONGER SHIRTS! There's absolutely nothing wrong with crop tops, but there WILL come a day when you just want (or worse, NEED) a shirt that covers your stomach. There will be occasions when you shouldn't be wearing a crop top, and you will curse the fashion industry for making shirts so darn small. Take it from someone who just graduated college, went straight into grad school, and had to buy a bunch of longer shirts (and higher waisted jeans) to not be mistaken for a high schooler amongst professionals.

I've noticed that many Americans only wear leggings as "going out" wear. My family is used to getting put together every time we go out, even to casual events. So I can see why people who live outside of America make fun of them for wearing leggings because it is known to be 'underdressed'. I am not making fun of anyone who wears leggings, I am simply putting out there the 'culture' from a different perspective, especially from Europe.

Star Girl ahaha I find it really interesting actually. In Europe you’re taught that university is different from high school (well obviously) and you’re supposed to wear “grown up clothes”. And when it comes to high school, while in the USA you may have a dress code and not be able to wear crop tops and short shorts, we can and definitely do all of that here. Unless you go to some fancy private school, you can wear whatever you want and people won’t judge you (even if it’s pretty much a bralette with high wastes jeans )- in contrast, even there it’s rare to see girls in sweatpants/ leggings in class, we definitely make a point to change into jeans after gym practice and leggings are not seen as comfortable, at all, because they might be slightly see through, tight , etc (we usually even wrap a hoodie over our waist to feel more comfortable in them ahaha)

Guys don’t forget the power of the SWEATER DRESS as a winter going out outfit. Especially if it’s knee or midi length and fitted it will show off your curves and look sexy but still keep you so comfy and warm. You can wear it with knee or thigh high boots and dress it up with funky earrings, a cool teddy coat or fur vest or trench coat, wear red lipstick with it and you will always look fit for both going out and even a professional environment like a college presentation or work interview depending on how you style and layer it. A lot of these are really good things to think about so many ppl make the warmth mistakes however as a southern californian , I do have to say with how hot it is 80% of the year most of our clothes are year round instead of seasonal, also I think a lot of ppl maybe experiencing those odd paper thin leggings that are like under $10 most of the time I personally love yoga pants that are fleece lined and not at all see through as my main pants they have pockets on the side of the leg that are deeper and definitely more secure to hold my phone than the back pocket of any of my jeans (which I hardly wear because in the winter I feel like the cold cuts right through and in the summer I feel like I’m baking bc their holding in heat) also even though we don’t have a “Real winter” I am personally very sensitive to the cold and have awful circulation and my yoga’s have been one of the best options over basic leggings while being more comfortable than denim. Also having a jacket that is cute but you wouldn’t care to much about losing or getting stained has been a great staple as well.

I feel you! Turning 24, entered the work force two years ago and went through the same phase. I would recommend second hand/vintage clothing. After searching, trial and error, you’ll become able to identify cuts, brands and materials that flatter you and are a good balance between youthful and professional. Also : know your measurements, and build a relationship with a good tailor. It really comes in handy. Good luck!

I don't know if I'll be dressing the same as I do, I already look like a high schooler because of my baby face, I think I need to dress more mature to look older and be taken seriously
I think I need a "how to dress for work" video!

I spent all of college trying to wear them in the winter and wondering why my feet were always frozen. They have no insulation (the ones most people wear anyway) get some insulated boots made for winter temperatures. Merrell, UGG, Columbia ect.
