Saw the Revue in Atlanta 1970; the most intense party/concert I observed until the B-52's! The top rows in the furthest 'seats' were dancing...exceptional.
I've seen LOTS of video of Tina and this is by far the greatest (whole) performance, dance wise, energy and consistency. Absolutely outstanding. I didn't think she could ever surprise me, but this one escaped me all these years and I'm so glad I came across it!
1:51 I remember when Tina said in her documentary that she never knew what Ike was going to play next whenever they performed, and this video is the perfect example of that. She continued into the second verse, but Ike was like, "Nope" and she transitioned into the music break effortlessly like a pro as always. Her work ethic and passion and dedication are just admirable and inspiring.
The choreography was the best in the business, and Tina was known as the hardest working woman in show business. She is the one responsible for the Ikettes' look and stage presentation too.
Her work ethic and sobriety. Without these, she could never have accomplished what she did. I saw her in 1985, 1996, twice in 2000 and in 2008. Amazing every time. She never stopped giving it her absolute all.
It made me sad when in an interview now that she's retired, she mentioned that the last years of touring were not that enjoyable to her because she was up there working her tail off and everyone else was enjoying themselves. I think that's when she started realizing she'd had enough and needed to retire. She's EARNED it.
No one had saw dancing and singing like that until they came along. Tina showed them how to dance and sing with pure funk and soul and rythym. Her and the Ikettes were known for short dresses, flying wigs and dancing and singing. Ike and his Band could play anything. Ike and Tina and the Revue were Legendary. You could not say they could not perform no matter what their personal struggles off stage was.
BAAAD AZZZZ Ladies! Legs for days, moves for weeks! African American female entertainers just got that supernatural thing man, none else has it like they do - the voice, the moves, the looks all in 1 - have mercy!
This was the type of Ike and Tina Turner Review show that I saw at U.C.L.A. in 1968. The entire varsity football team sat on the first and second rows in Ackerman Hall and we were all forty five minutes late to practice that day. The hall was packed that day. The entire show must have lasted almost 3 hours.......and it was a free show!
Tina was in her prime here! Most of her best performances are with Ike. They had the right amount of grit, funk, soul and rock n roll plus the lovely Ikettes.
October 2019 and what hasn't already been said about this woman and her singing and her voice and her talent and her dancing and her strength and her legs and her body and her wigs. She is Simply the Best better than all the rest better than anyone anyone that we ever met
TINA WAS ON FIRE...….WHEW...…………....….WHAT ENERGY...………..UNREAL...... IKE HAD THE BAND WAS "COOKIN "......AUDIENCE WAS DEAD.I WOULD HAVE BEEN OUT OF MY SEAT AFTER WATCHING THAT SHOW...……… MY GOD.HELP ME …..THAT WAS TALENT
It's Ike all the way- a master at the whole production. In a large sense, he's as talented as Prince, although not nearly as up front as a performer. Ike knew his stuff, and it shows in these videos.
Tina has got some strong legs and massive energy. Ike is a skinny small framed man...how in the world did Tina not wipe the floor with Ike when he beat on her? Something's not right in her stories about being beaten by Ike for years. With Tina's strong body frame she could have easily beaten Ike to a pulp if she tried. A few boxing lessons for Tina would have put Ike in his grave.
Don't ever underestimate the physical strength of a taut, wiry male. If he ever was physically abusive to her, of course he should have been confronted by law enforcement, after Tina or any person who was victimized by his physical violence, had filed a complaint. Tina went on to rise above that episode of her life, and grew emotionally into a well respected voice for everything from woman and violence, to her own career.
wow they are on point. Not even missing a step now this is Talent. Tina's a hurricane it not easy to sing powerfully and dance at the same time. True Talent.
Tina was my first entertainer crush. I was mesmerized as a little boy but couldn't figure it out. Sly and the Family Stone was my first fav band. When the Revue covered this on vinyl or I saw it performed on tv I felt sophisticated. That Ike was present during some sessions for THERE'S A RIOT GOIN ON is icing on the cake. Ike is still the dumbest man ever regardless of whatever Tina did.
+ Karen yes they did: check at 2:57: the Ikette on the left ( Esther Jones ) starts too soon! And Tina messed up a verse at 1:51. But who cares anyway!
I love this women!!! Ike was a Karmic relationship he saw the glory in this women. He abused Tina bc he abused himself. Tina was and is POWER HOUSE. So proud to be BLACK.
Wow! Back in 1966 I was fortunate to get to see Ike and Tina at a club in Santa Ana Ca. maybe 300 people max. I was instantlyin love with Tina. My kinda woman. She invented the mini skirt and also twerking. (eat your heart out miley)
I am sure the younger ones will tell me to stuff it when I give my opinion. I have got to say that, for my money, there is no act out there today that comes close to Ike, Tina and the Ikettes. Tina Turner was the ultimate Diva.
+StellarBlue1 SO true. They put out some great music. Tina has been and always will be ... the ONE!! To me ... she made the music great. Love seeing how they dressed. I wish I could still dress and look like that. I loved it. I miss those days. Class act...minus Ike. I think his pushing her to try even harder...was the only positive thing he did. The addictions and violence...he got his dues. Major thumbs up on her and your comment!!!
Muffett53 Yes, there are lots of followers and imitators, but none as hot and classy as Tina. She is the mark that sets the bar high. I have not seen any acts that have come close to hers yet! (I doubt i ever will!)
I actually saw her in glorious black and white in 1969. Most of people had a racist opinion, my parents were the worst racists at that point. But I kept listening. Sorry I had to witness Tina Turner officially retired. I tried to count how many times I saw Tina live, not counting T.V. were 6 times in New York. Her single movie was "Thunder Dome " with Mel Gibson. A classic Sci- Fi movie that I still watch at least once a year
Sly and The Family Stone recorded this originally. Sly Stone was a DJ in Oakland back when I was a kid, until the band took off. This was the Golden Age of Rock n' Roll! Peace!
That was a tough crossover back then-nothing personal, as the white audiences were very open minded and accepting of anything new and different, but rock and roll was so diverse in what the term covered. Upbeat, R&B, Soul, Acid and laid back. Tina had it-and she rally shined in the 80's with her work also.
Wow, I guess you might want to tell Aretha Franklin, Sister Rosetta Tharpe, Donna Summer, Bessie Smith, Ruth Brown, Nina Simone, yeah, women in general have been screwed over by the Rock and roll Hall Of Fame no matter what color, but if you haven´t heard of the women on my lisst just off the top of my head... then how did you end up on this video anyway???
Michael Barry Get off your high horse. Everyone you named is widely considered an “influence” to Rock & Roll, but were always classified as Soul, R&B, Blues, etc. Tina is the only one who is famous for making songs that we consider to be in the actual modern Rock & Roll genre. And she certainly achieved the most success for it.
A-1 -Top shelf - THE kings and queens of entertainment - !!! - Notice how Tina can control not only the audience but the stage as well! OUTSTANDING - THE IKETTES OUTDANCED THEM ALL!
back in my teens!! HA, First time i seen this, these girls are sick..great dancin, great gals, great times the 70's. YOU DONT KNOW WHAT YOU MISSED..The music never stopped & it just got better.
WOW!!!! These kids dancing today don't have anything on the legions of yesterday! I so glad I grow=up back in the day. Everyone copies my ppl's moves & commercializes it...it's all watered down stylize moves today. But I have to say at least the Korean culture seems to do it right! Kpop is big & after you watch some of the vids on their kid groups you'll know why they idolize our soul groups music & dances yesterday.
Tina and her Iketts were off the chain and I can't leave out the band they were on fire.
No autotune just real music.
Saw the Revue in Atlanta 1970; the most intense party/concert I observed until the B-52's! The top rows in the furthest 'seats' were dancing...exceptional.
this is a fucking rock n roll band!
Hold up! These women did a full on high speed dance routine and killed it immediately after with vocals. Nice!
wow The energy is pure unadulterated ecstasy
And singers today lip sync instead. Kinda sad, isn't it?
... and they managed to keep those short dresses down😮amazing!!!
I've seen LOTS of video of Tina and this is by far the greatest (whole) performance, dance wise, energy and consistency. Absolutely outstanding. I didn't think she could ever surprise me, but this one escaped me all these years and I'm so glad I came across it!
RIP Queen Tina/Anna Mae Bullock 🙏🏻👸🏾✝️☸️

The choreography was the best in the business, and Tina was known as the hardest working woman in show business. She is the one responsible for the Ikettes' look and stage presentation too.
If you watch any of her rehearsal videos on RUclips, she goes just as hard in rehearsal. She was unbelievable!
She was phenomenal and those Ikettes were great
She pioneered aerobic exercise routines before anyone else. No wonder she stayed in great shape all those years!
What a legend. Her music will continue to thrill every generation to come.
Tina is absolutely amazing and the best!! Rest in paradise Ms.Turner, you are an icon❤❤❤
Her work ethic and sobriety. Without these, she could never have accomplished what she did. I saw her in 1985, 1996, twice in 2000 and in 2008. Amazing every time. She never stopped giving it her absolute all.

Perfect performance, from singing, to dancing, to stage pressence, what more could you ask of a performer, just beautiful!
All that you named out, and was getting beat by a man that never deserved her. That's why she 83; years old and outlived his ass!
I never seen any singer to date move with such ease. I'm in awe! She literally glides effortlessly across the stage.
When she passed, I played her songs from fri12noon to sun6pm, non stop. Seen her sing, dance and perform, wow absolutely amazing.
No one had saw dancing and singing like that until they came along. Tina showed them how to dance and sing with pure funk and soul and rythym. I've watched this about a hundred time. Just doesn't get old.
No one can replace Tina .I met her and she is all class, all style and all grace. I love Beyonce as well but Tina will always be the queen
Wow, they were MOVIN'!!!
Everytime I watch these old performances I am amazed by her and her backup dancers/singers
SIMPLY GENIUS ON EVERY LEVEL,,,THESE WERE TRUE ARTISTS,,,,,

Ike and Tina revue was 🔥 Tina arguably the most dynamic female soul singer in music history!
I love Tina... don't care what anyone says about her ... She is exceptional, talented and underated
October 2019 and what hasn't already been said about this woman and her singing and her voice and her talent and her dancing and her strength and her legs and her body and her wigs. She is Simply the Best better than all the rest better than anyone anyone that we ever met
WOW! The dancing, the music, the voice!!!!
Thank you Tina, Iketts, Ike, and the band, and who ever shared this thank you too.
Them women tore that intro DOWN! No choreographer, all dance move put together themselves💪🏽

Ike didn't f@ck around.
Tina doesn't get enough credit: Dance choreographer extraordinaire
Who choreographed all that???? They broke that shit down. Go head!!!

Dam damn damn look at the legs on these women. The choreography is just sick.
It's Ike all the way- a master at the whole production. In a large sense, he's as talented as Prince, although not nearly as up front as a performer. Ike knew his stuff, and it shows in these videos.
Ike was good ...but not quite as good as Prince..Rip to them.both.🙏🏽

I so agree! Gorgeous legs, gorgeous women but the choreography, WTH?
Love that song
Tina is a force of nature
I can watch this clip all day!!...I think the 2 Ikettes on the left were totally in Control of this Coreography!......They turn this out!!
@ Jose Luis they were Esther Jones and Vera Hamilton. But the 3rd one (Jean Burks) was pretty much in control either, why?
If I could dance like Tina and the Ikettes I'd own the world.
+David Russell And you can tell THEY owned the world back in the days!
...and what a strong band backing the singers incredible performance!
..can’t get any better than this!!
wow they are on point. Not even missing a step now this is Talent. Tina's a hurricane it not easy to sing powerfully and dance at the same time. True Talent.
I love how controlled Tina's dance moves are.
Perfection!!! This is what raw natural talent looks like ❤🌹🤗

As a Janet Jackson Fan i bow down to this Women.Simply the Best! Tina Turner is the Queen!
Класс!!! И танцуют, и поют 👏👏👏👍👍👍 Это, если не ошибаюсь, год 1970-1971, Италия. Просто супер-зажигалочки!!!

Backup218 Indeed. Very hot!

The whole thing just kicks ass and that band is great! I mean the shit just rocks. Ike was a badd ass band leader!
Sly and The Family Stone recorded this originally. Sly Stone was a DJ in Oakland back when I was a kid, until the band took off. This was the Golden Age of Rock n' Roll! Peace!
I agree and she's the only black woman that's an icon in the rock n roll genre! ❤️ it and just to think it all started in Nutbush, TN!
Do more research.
b davis agreed lol
