the best part of this episode is when the mom said she's 15 yrs old. I bursted out laughing, I was like "WHAT? she looks 25"
I think the actress was actually over 20 when they filmed this
SAME
but im kinda confused on why the mother was like "Shes only fifteen I'm gonna show this to the police!" Isnt the boy also 15 or at least in high school like her?? Or is he 18 or older? ?
Sarah Staats I’m pretty sure he was older
@@MadisonSpearslol ohhh 😬
" It allows parents to track their children"
Oh boy. That never ends well.
Nope 😂
That's not true. It depends on the parent. I have the ability to locate my son and daughter through their phone but have never used it. I live in Chicago and shit happens here all the time. If I ever couldn't find my child, I would call them, a lot, and then of that doesn't work, call everyone I know they would be with and if THAT doesn't work, then yes, I'm tracking their phone.
@@time2rowco999 Exactly. People are crazy out here. If they can put trackers in pets, its not problem keeping tabs on your kids... That other shenanigans in this episode was wayyyy too much though. like the censorship and seeing what she sees is too much!
@@justanotherabc8888 bruh imagine if my parents had access to this technology they already track all my shit 24/7
*insert implant and disrupts one's reality
Ah shit, here we go again.
There were SO MANY opportunities for Marie to just TALK with Sarah, to ask her how she is and what's going on, and she instead walked the few extra feet to her own SEPARATE room to spy on her. Had she taken the time to actually talk to Sarah like a mom, she wouldn't have ever needed consult the tablet to satisfy this overwhelming need to reaffirm for herself that she is a good mother. Sarah would've eventually told her, because their relationship would have been open and healthy.
Right? The night Trick drove Sara back home I was like "why don't you just come out of the house and greet them 2 and ask if they were in a relationship". Maybe that way Sara would tell something and they could work out from there
@@MidoriGa95 THANK YOU!!! That would've been the perfect opportunity to go into interrogation mode. Maybe not an intense interrogation, but invite Trick in, see how they act together, then hit 'em with a 'So, you two doing it? You using protection?' and they likely would've been too shocked/discomfited to lie, and it would've worked out well!
To be honest I wish Marie taught Sarah about sex and flame body and what to do and what not to do instead of just watching over her with a tablet on 24/7 including drugs and how they aren’t good for you
She doesn't know how to, she's socially and emotionally stunted like her daughter. Both of them don't know how to talk to each other or interact. Her parents probably was her generic "arc angel" growing up. Always sheltering her, projecting their fears on her, probably living vicariously through her as well pressuring her to fulfill their dreams, in which she failed to do so and lost potential in their eyes somewhere along the way. That's why she fails to see herself worthy, that's why her dad views her as a disappointment, he doesn't know how to talk to her either. That's also why she is having an affair with a patient who is involved in a relationship. She doesn't "morally" know any better. She doesn't understand the consequences. She self sabotages as well..just like her daughter. Plus people learn and grow from experiences. A person has to grow in their own ways. All the warnings and talks in the world wouldn't have prevented her from finding her own way in life. Trying to repress and oppress her through fear isn't helping. Its hindering. People are going to press the red button despite the warnings and danger.
@@saranoone5086 honestly comparing the mom and the daughter isn’t a good comparison, since the daughter grew up very different with that arkangel program. You have to be willing to take that into consideration, in which one might think it’s what led her to be with a guy like trick ever since she was 9, he was interesting and alluring to her since he embodies exactly what her mom had put a filter on her whole life up until that point, thus drawing her curiosity to the boy.
I thought she was 17 at the very least. The actor they chose looks too old for 14.
She's supposed to be 14????? She looks like she's in her damn 30s
I'm 14, I look twelve
Where did u get 14 , she’s 15
Liberty Adams the girl who plays her is def in her 20s. She’s an Aussie actress from puberty blues
I think she's 15
She’s supposed to be 14? She looks like she’s going through her third divorce
The biggest plot twist of them all
15*
Z does it really matter if she’s 14 or 15 if she looks like she’s 50?
😂🤦🏿♂️
Ryan Maliek damn that girl be looking old
They probably casted someone older to not have issues with the more mature scenes of the episode, but they should have made her 17 instead of 15.
Yeah, I thought she was 17, not 15. Like, she was about to graduate from high school and the mom was freaking out not just because her daughter was becoming an adult, but because she was going to leave soon.
But... 15? Dude, she freaked out when. None of her friends knew where she was, which is why she turned on the tablet for the first time in 6 years. That's understandable to me. Her continuing to watch or get super paranoid after without telling her daughter, like, I know you weren't at your friends house, where were you? Just knowing she wasn't being murdered somewhere should've been the relief. But she didn't confront the lying. Which is the important part.
I think the worst problem with Marie’s parenting is that she sheltered Sara so much she didn’t know “normal” human responses to certain situations and was eager to get into everything she was sheltered for. She couldn’t even see her own blood! How would she be ready to not freak out when she gets her period?(ofc Marie took the filter off before that). Look at the little girl that watched Trick’s video, she thought it was disgusting and probably stayed away from that, Sara didn’t react to it. She was sheltered from violence and s*x and the first time she was exposed to it she got it from Trick’s childish enthusiasm, Marie’s lucky she didn’t took a liking to it. With the dr*gs, Trick knew they weren’t worth it (saw them as business and average) but she wanted a taste because she never was taught the danger they were. We couldn’t see it, but for her core development years she was handicapped from reacting to human emotion like sadness, sickness, anger or fear. In the end she gets into a stranger’s truck, without fear for the future, because she never knew danger.
Very true the mother sheltered her daughter so much she became naive. We see her getting into a truck and we already know that's not a good thing. The mother should have taken her father's advice to learn to balance giving her daughter freedom at the same time talk to her, let her see the real world for what it is. Stop hiding the truth about the world. School the daughter about boys, and friends, strangers, etc.
The more you analyze Sarah's experience with Arkangel and factor in the fact that it's banned in multiple countries, the more horrifying this whole thing gets once you realize Sarah's experience is likely NOT an isolated incident!
That’s the cost of a free product
They really made us believe that that white girl was 15 i-
The whole time, I thought she was 17 or 18, like why was the mom so concerned with her adult daughter having sex? but nope apparently she's 15 with the physique of a 20 year old
I find the concept of people in their 20's playing teenagers in movies and tv shows so odd. This is why 13 year olds think they have to look like adults in order to be "normal".
Alexa F. Like on one hand I get but also I don’t want to see a fourteen year old actress simulating a sex scene. That’s just all sorts of wrong.
That’s how I looked at 14. I don’t know about you but puberty doesn’t work like that. Some 12 year olds look 16 and some look 8, some 18 year olds look 12 and some look 27.
@@hannandersha lol
Sara's lack of empathy is shown by her leaving her mom, who she assumed was dead like the audience, rather than calling an ambulance. She does not cry or have a meltdown, she just packs her stuff and walks out and doesn't even try to save her mom
No the mom has a lack of empathy why tf would you try and track your child she said she’ll be home just trust her, lack of trust in mother daughter relationships never end good.
When she was beating her she couldn’t see how much damage she was causing because of arkangle
ItzSlashy exactly
Well we have to remember that Sarah didn't deal with her Grandpa dead or when he had an attack. She doesn't know how to react in those escenarios, I mean she couldn't seen her mother cry when her Grandpa died.

I feel like the main problem in this episode was that Marie was trying too hard to keep Sara safe and didn't do enough to teach Sara how to survive on her own. I'm not a parent (though I'd like to be someday), so I can't say for certain what parenting really is, but from my own experiences and just general observation, parenting should be about being there when your child needs you but giving them the chance to develop into an independent person for when you can't or shouldn't be there.
Marie didn't teach Sara much of anything about responsibility, handling emotions, drugs, sex or anything remotely uncomfortable or dangerous, and then got angry at other people when Sara made choices that she felt were wrong or dangerous. If Marie had actually tried to have difficult conversations with Sara, like confronting her about losing her virginity, taking drugs and the pregnancy, there was still a chance that Sara and Marie could've come to an understanding and both learned what was best.
I guess long story short, I feel that it's better to raise a kid who understands why you're telling them things are wrong or dangerous rather than just hiding those things from them.
Yes, that's the point. You're right about everything, but that's what the episode was going for - showing the issues of these overprotective parents
@@ivanyang7032 Yeah, I know that was the point. I was just giving my take on the issues the episode explored.
Or let her grow up and experience things for herself which sucks
The fact the other didn’t feed her daughter the greens already show her lackluster parenting ways.

Is it overrated?
No I think her interpretation of getting in that van with the stranger at the end was implying she was going to get murdered, as numerous hitch hikers have been know to get abducted by lorry drivers in Toronto
It's literally stereotypically a parent's worst fear that their child gets into a car with a stranger. It's clearly intentional.
She's gonna wish her mom had that device now.
“Lorry” drivers??? lol I like that
It also shows how clueless she is because her mom didn’t teach her the dangers of this stuff.Like doing drugs and having sex and getting in a stranger’s truck.
tequilashots875 I still blame her mom, her mom didn’t explain things to her she just filtered it. Don’t do drugs, don’t get in the car with strangers, and don’t do a lot of things but rather than explain it she just watched her and then acted.
Life 360: The Advanced Version
Yup
Life 360 is amazing though and everybody should have it. Why wouldn’t you want to know if a loved one was in an accident? I’m 23 and it was my younger brothers idea for our parents to track us and for my siblings and I to track them and each other. I don’t understand why you wouldn’t want to do that, I’m 23 I don’t got anything to hide and I’d want my family to know if I was in an accident or got kidnapped
the ending scene with trick breaking up with her was so upsetting it hurt me): and the scene where she was beating up her mom made me uneasy i wish the story continued because it left off on such a huge climax

One of my clients has a teenage son who developed diabetes. She told me her husband prompted them to implant a sugar/insulin monitor which will alert them of when he's having spikes in sugar levels. She says he's severely overprotective and is always worried. I immediately told her about this show and this episode which she later told me hit too close to home but that she's obsessed with the show now.
As a diabetic, you can't actually implant it, it would damage the body, but you can put it in like an insulin pump. This isn't a perfect system however, in my personal experience, the glucose monitor I used got updated too much, making it completely useless because it won't read the glucose.
But it still is a good piece of tech, especially if the child wants to make sure they are okay, setting up a safety net.
Brendan Corey There is a bluetooth one that stays in your arm for like a week. I know parents who have it and they didn’t act that way. It was just good to have incase of a sudden spike
7:16 She looks like a damn 30 year old not a teenager. And the mum looks like a grandma (granted she may have had her fairly old)

@@dieog3078 it's a hyperbolic joke, of course I'm exaggerating. She doesn't look *30* but she looks way older than she's supposed to be (and her dressing doesn't help)
Anyone who finds fault with Sara didn't likely have this type of parents. If they did and there reasoning is, "Well I turned out well", not everyone is the same. There's almost always two outcomes to a situation. Marie didn't just put an implant, she got lazy and didn't raise her right. She couldn't even confront Sara, she directly went to Trick. And feeding her the contraceptive? How is that okay. Sure, she shouldn't have been beaten up like that, but it is the dumb implant that made Sara go pretty much blind, she couldn't even see what she was doing.
You're right. She should have beat her up for doing drugs and having sex at 14 just like most parents would. Cant believe she even apologized to her at the end like?? Girl you were doing drugs
Nah you kill a baby you get a beat down

Cece Ruben I think maybe it’s a nostalgia thing? It’s certainly isn’t one of my favorites, but not my least either... especially when it comes to season 4.
I was never a Star Trek or Star Wars guy and not much of a gamer, but there are some really great and creepy scenes, choice actors, and great costume design. Besides, it’s one of the few Black Mirror episodes that gives us a happy ending. Give it another try if you haven’t already. There are far more worse / boring episodes in this series.
I loved that one too. It’s probably my favorite, but I think a lot of people just think it was weird. It wasn’t nostalgic for me, but I was so happy they got away! Idk what it is about it, just loved it
Smokey McPot I don’t care for Star Trek either, and I was never really a big Star Wars fan, but there’s something about this episode that draws me in.
Funny enough, it was my least favorite episode in the beginning, but the more I watch it, the more I fckn love it!

It’s sad how Marie wanted Sarah to stay a baby in her eyes
You lack understanding.
@@Nikketmzee ok👍
@@titliroy4713 you’ll understand some day, I hope.
@@Nikketmzee No. Being a child of an overprotective parent makes it hard for me to want to be that person. Having a child and being protective is onething and trying to stop them from doing anything that could remotely harm them to the point that they feel bubble wrapped, I hope I never understand that type of compulsion.
This episode was really interesting. As a dad of a daughter who died during childbirth and a boy with special needs who has wandered off, I definitely understand the desire to protect your child to the extent of having a chip implanted. But having been a kid, I can also see what a huge problem this level of control would be. I thought this episode was going to be darker--where the mom accidentally left the "mute" on for her entire life, and the daughter never understood what it meant to be normal, or that the daughter was murdered because she couldn't make out the pixelated danger she was in.
Bro I REALLY think you should take back "the innocent relationship" part, cause no part of a 15 year old having sex, getting pregnant and doing coke, is apart of a "innocent relationship".
We have a saying in the Bahamas "protective parents raise creative kids"
basically if u over parent your kids your kids will find new ways to hide things from u and will master the art of sneaking around behind their parents back.this episode eludes to this by how well Sara lies about her whereabouts and how when she gets home she perfectly acts as if everything is fine.
Truth!
Also, in the archangel building, the marble patterns on the wall resemble rorsharch inks. Many of these patterns either resemble the uterus or an angelic figure with wings. And not only does the arkangel logo appear to be an eye, but it also has a halo. This representation is an allude to the name, of course, but also appears to show the filter over the eyesight that Marie had over Sara's eyes for so long.
During the end section when Sara beat her mom, I was so sad. I almost started crying because just that idea existing that a situation like that could happen makes me feel so sad. Good video!
Thank you Suena, I feel like this episode was pretty realistic in that regard
I think majority of the people would do the same thing if they are in that position.
Gypsy Blanchard killed her mother, that's in a worse case scenario, though
my parents forced me to have share my location with them once i watched this episode i immediately turned it off and i will never turn it back on just because of this
Bad move
@Squelcher DZ
You shouldn't really take hard advice from TV shows. I think it's best to have an adult (pun intended), honest conversation with your parents about this.
It's always better to talk about these things instead of everyone jumping to conclusions on their own - parents *deciding* location sharing is a good move; kids deciding to *never* turn it on; etc.
They're worried about you. Newsflash - you're their kid! But SOMETIMES it might be up to you to set SOME boundaries and educate your parents. Maybe go with a temporary deal. Like only share on the weekends or ... something. Think about it. Letting your parents know where you are is mostly a good thing. But you know your needs for privacy best so have a *calm* talk with them.
Your parents' daily schedule might be so full they can't always check on you to see if you're OK. They could see location sharing as a good, convenient way to "keep an eye" on you from afar. But you're not *really* safe until we invent the personal teleporter. :P
Discussing problems honestly, a good general education about life, safety etc. and developing relationships based on trust are MUCH better at keeping you and your family safe and happy.
Yeah I have the Life 360 thing with my parents and I always saw it as a good thing. What if you get lost or kidnapped? They will be able to find you. And there is an emergency button for if you are in trouble. I feel safe with it and it’s not like my parents actually use it to track my every move. It’s just a safety procedure for if the worst happens.
I meannn making sure that you’re not in a dangerous place is a lot different than physically desensitizing your entire world
Anne Cid Yep
after this episode, i'm so happy that my parents did let me have my childhood, their philosophy was - " do whatever you want, just let us know where you are". broke my hand while going from the huge hill on the bike? well, i've learned that hard way, got into fight because of some shit, oh well, your problem i everything ended up ok and without major damage or injuries, they kind of controlled me, but at the same time trusted, that i'm responsible enough to not get myself into trouble, ad stuff was like that maybe from 11-12yo
I don't know if this is the original source, but a quote from "Kung Fu Panda" comes to mind - "One often meets destiny on the road taken to avoid it."
I like how you spot the easter eggs on each episode. Btw, that scene when the mom was searching for the guy in the internet, is her PC even a real thing? Same thing with Be Right Back ep, is her tablet even real?
Thank you!
This episode is a reflexion of what parents do to their children today, being over protective and trying to shield the kids of all of the things that build character.

This episode was the saddest one of the second. Marie made he daughter her everything and spent all of her time taking care of her and she lost her forever. I know she should not have parented her that way but it's still so sad and also if Marie didn't see them having sex, then she never would have put the pill in her drink and she wouldn't have found out she was pregenant until much later
The machine told the mom she was pregnant
Dawn Phenomenal it doesn’t matter, if she didn’t have the chip in the first place she would trust her mom enough to tell her about the pregnancy and be able to get an abortion or the pill
What makes it worse is that she did the cocaine after she got pregnant, so she would of found out way later and unable to get an abortion for a damaged fetus even though she was 15

Marie reminds me of r/entitledparents
My mom has been pretty good with allowing me to be myself and when learning something about me that she didn’t agree with, she never yelled at me or punished me for it. Which is why I can talk to her now about anything. Have limits, but don’t lock your kids up
Here's my thing, that woman wanted to protect her kid. That's all she wanted to do. She did not try to teach her anything or really learn about kind of kid she was. She was so bent on protecting her child that she really forgot that protecting your child is not the sole job of a parent.
Everyone's siding with Sara but how quickly we forget that parents try to do what's good for us. Their methods may not be always right but their intentions are.
The last scene where she was screaming Sara's name, broke my heart
True but some times parents need to tell teens be teens and experience things for themselves
Admittedly, many protective parents mean well. But keep in mind there are some parents that are narcissists - and controlling and manipulation is a major mode of operation for narcissists. It's important to know which type you are dealing with, because you can at least reason with an overprotective parent that means well over time - and a narcissist will just view it as an attack and things may get worse.
Her mom should've let her daughter be a fucking human, not a subject.
I have a@usive parents who did this, and I will explain why I don't feel bad for her Mother. When you do this integration on your children. You make sneakier kids who get good at lying. I had to do this just going to the movies when I was 22. Again she watched her do it. Very much invasive and weird. She made her take the pill without talking to her about the pregnancy. Nah, I hope her daughter never speaks to her again. This is what she deserves.
can we talk about the mother's date? it was the same guy who was her patient. what was the point of this?

Just finished this episode, I'd give it a 7/10. It was an interesting concept and shows you how being overprotective can backfire so easily. The mom chose to manipulate Sarah's actions from behind the scenes instead of communicating with her, that explains why Sarah chose to lie to her instead of telling her where she is. Therefore I don't think it was Sarah's fault how things turned out.
I saw some people theorizing that Trick may have been older than Sarah due to the fact that her mother brings up that she’s only 15 when she confronts him. I doubt this since they went to the same school and were most likely in the same grade. As stated in the video, Sarah’s mom refuses to accept that her daughter can make her own decisions and that the world isn’t out to get her.
I went to middle school that went from grade 4 to grade 8. It's possible that they are 3-4 years apart.
Ugh. You don't know how long I was waiting for this.
Hope it was worth the wait!
I wish this guy had more subs
reminds me so much of the story of carrie white. especially the ending when sara beat up her mother.
My mother is like a muted version by Marie...
I'm not even allowed to stay alone at home even though I'm 16
You're only 16. Only. Chill and respect your mother.
I agree with you
But she should at least trust me enough to stay alone at home for 1 or 2 hrs. It's not like I'm gonna do drugs or have sex.
@@saanjalyvaishnav695 Is probably not something you gonna do. More likely she's scared for something happends when alone. A stranger trying to get into the house, you having an (even mini) accident and be alone is honestly very scary to think of.
Try not to get killed once she does leave you alone
Giovanna Pedroso Ok but she’s 16 that’s definitely old enough to stay home
I love your videos so much! Can you do one on white Christmas??
I think it would have been better if Sara was like 17. First of all the actor looked at least that old, and second, while I don't agree with the constant surveillance of one's children and think it's still unacceptable in most cases, it's more understandable at age 15. Still very detrimental to development though. By the way I loved your analysis.
That's the point. Black Mirror is supposed to make us squirm and question ethics. We are not supposed to simply sympathise with one character. They do it intentionally so that we blame the mom but also understand to some degree where she's coming from as the girl is that young. The point is always to see and understand where both sides are coming from, no matter whom we side with in the end
I remember going to an adventure park when I was younger. It was so fun for me! You collect nails and trade them in for tools/ paint. You have to return it later so it gives you a sense of responsibility. You can literally build the park and paint it!
Life is life. Don't try to dictate someone's life. Guide but let them face the consequence of their actions.
When I saw Sarah get into the truck I literally started laughing because I thought it meant "boom! She's abducted"
Honestly the casting threw me off... I had to keep remembering she's a minor/15 years old. Also a 15 year old out till 11:30pm does not make sense, but then I was okay with it coz she looked 24. It's a good episode, just the casting threw me off
I just started binging Black Mirror, and your videos are so awesome. Very helpful.
As a parent, especially when you have a little child, you wanna protect them from all danger, so I can see the justification for Arkangel, but around 6-8 years old, I believe you should trust in your parenting skills, and start giving them space to breathe and experience the world, and when they hit the 12 years mark, they NATURALLY would start to distance themselves from you, so you REALLY need to let them go, HOPING you raised them well thus far that they wouldn't get involved with "dangerous" people.
The mother in this episode did that well at the beginning, but she outsourced her parenting skills to Arkangel, which caused all these trouble. She threw her daughter into the hand of a stupid boy, which is what happens with sweet girls usually when they are raised in an uptight environment...
This episode almost frustrated me as much as the entire history of you(which in that the protagonist was ultimately in the right but was still very frustrating)
1. The mom, Sara, and trick were all idiots. If I were the mom when Sara came back from the lake I would have directly confronted her instead of pretending nothing happened.
2. Trick should have told Sara that her mom was still watching her through the ark angel instead of just ghosting her with no explanation.
3. Lastly, Sara should have answered the phone when her mom called her while she was at the lake. If I were her, I would constantly be worried about my mom using the ark angel
The Real Michael Garcia yeah I didn’t understand why trick didn’t just tell her
Or I guess trick didn’t want to risk getting arrested
The way he pronounced homage 😂
Rae chuuu i was looking for this comment 😂
he said it properly ....
@@danibunny1005 lol, no he didn't but okay. 😅 The h is silent for one. It's not hard to look up the pronunciation and find out.
@@raechuuu510 Brits pronounce the h. Idk if he's British tho
@@dylanm34he has an American accent. 😅 So I don't think he's British...
Sara looks like the old Scarlett Johansson .
ikr even tho im pretty sure scarlett is older than this actress, and shes supposed to look like a 15 year old
The daughter looks like a grad student.
I love the fact that you can analyse so many things in one episode each and everytime with unique points and not repeating anything and still making it a around 20 minute video. You pick up on all the small details and somehow manage to expand it into such a long explanation that makes absolute sense
Absolutely adore your analyses, keep it up
The only thing I wish you said more about that episode, is giving reason why the mother at the end of the episode, ruined her and her daughter's life by using the tablet, she still holds it and is searching for Sara... By the way, perfect videos, keep doing this stuff, I enjoy it so much.
Thank you so much!
ok maybe I missed it but was sarah actually pregnant? I could've missed them but I didn't see any signs that she was actually pregnant so I assumed her marie was jumping to conclusions when she put the morning after pill in the smoothie. like I said, I could've missed something but I don't remember anything about her being pregnant until the pills come into play
Charley Turner i took it as she saw that she was pregnant via the health aspect of the app, that’s why she was like oh shit and went to the pharmacy so late and why the nurse told sarah that she’s ‘no longer pregnant’ when she did heath tests (i could be so wrong just my perspective during my last rewatch)
morgan kiney That’s what I gathered as well
Same
She was so barely pregnant she didn’t even know but yes the monitor picked it up and moms illegal termination of her pregnancy was pretty shitty.
So, as someone fairly new to this series, it sounds like what George Orwell would make if he were aware of modern technology.
It's so heartbreaking and sad- mothers and daughters strive for a connection but in the end it turns out in turmoil, either by lack of communicating their wants to each other or by suffocating each other and this episode is exactly that. (sorry my mommy issues are coming out)
Proof you can be a good parent but your daughter will still stray to debauchery by being rebellious due to he outside influences and friends
Can't wait for you to do Uss Callister! 🙂
Soon!
Bruh... i'm a 21 year old woman. And my mom wont let me go out unless I ask for permission. Moving out isn't really a thing here as it's not viewed as a good thing in my culture. This episode kinda hits home for me.
My mom has always been really strict. She feels entitled to know all my friends and who I'm going out with even thought IM AN ADULT WITH A JOB. She thinks I shouldn't move out unless I get married first. My boyfriend has to ask permission FROM HER before taking me out. When I tell my foreign friends about my situation, they think it's crazy. Ive never really rebelled cause im aware of the things that can harm me. But it depresses me. At 21, I barely feel alive.
I havent travelled alone. I havent slept over at a friend's place. I havent been on trips with anyone besides my relatives. My boyfriend can't even take me on dates out of town. It's kinda sickening. Idk how to complain cause if i complain, i'll be tagged as an "ungrateful" child. I pay foe the bills at home and do my part. I feel like if my mom had the opportunity, she definitely would have taken part in the arkangel project...
21! Wow I can't even imagine
I love your videos. This was my first Black MIrror Episode, though not my favorite.
Thank you!
I didn’t like this episode because if Booker wanted me to sympathize with the mom, he failed miserably. I also think the daughter turned out too normal given what the mom did to her.
Jenifer Joseph nah she did drug, smoked, add sex, runaway, watch porn, watch horror/violence and beat her mom. It's really a lot for a 14-15 years old girl. She could've had mental problem like lack of sympathy and empathy.
Wasn’t she 17? She looked older. Plus just judging from her acting, she seemed relatively okay. And even if she were doing bad shit, it’s not like the mom helped.
Mental health problems and personality disorders caused by childhood trauma doesnt usually present itself until late teens/early 20's. In the series it shows Sarahs steady decline through poor decision making, risk taking, anger issues and rebellious behavior.
YESS I was waiting for yo to upload a BM video!!!!! Please keep them coming! You have the best analyses!
Thank you, that's very much appreciated
0:15 That’s not Waldo, it’s an owl lunch bag / backpack design called the ‘Skip Hop Otis Owl’
(One of my kids had one so I recognised it immediately)
You can see the spots that are on the front bottom pocket just over the rim.
Someone correct me if I'm wrong but I'm almost certain that at the end when the girl was fighting with her mom about the tablet and while she beat her with it, she turned on the filter thing and then the tablet broke so there was no way she could turn it back off.
shadydreamers I noticed that too.
I think it turned off before it gave out, that's why she suddenly saw her mother's beaten face at the end.
I like how the ending of "Arkangel" shows Sarah as a hitchhiker. It's a clever way of showing how she's in a dangerous situation without realizing it. The ending also leaves us with a mystery to think about.
I bet at the end of it, once Sarah lost arkangel, that trucker killed her. No longer does she have the protection of an angel RIP Sarah.
I wanna first say I really like your videos and explanations. Secondly i know it's said in the beginning spoilers for other episodes but sometimes the in-depth spoiler to another episode which isnt the current one you speak of is too much because I don't watch these episodes in chronological order. Just in this you quoted a scene from an episode that is after this one. I love the way you explain these episodes however this would be much better if you didn't include spoilers as they are not directly related to one another. Again good job on the explanations
I agree so hard. I just started watching black mirror recently and i watch them in order. I watch these explanation videos after every episode. I usually mute or block my screen whenever he talks about future episodes.
black mirror season 5 on 5th june!
SERIOUS?? That's my birthday! Woooooo!
@@libertyadams5961 hehehe
Your Dry Blazer that’s Draco Malfoy’s birthday too lol
it was wack.
A+ analysis, bro! Thought the comparison to Oedipus was a touch. Subbed.
Thank you lajefa616, that's awesome to hear!
Watched that ep in english class today, despite it slightly triggering my anxiety It was insanely suspensful and actually really good I liked it, tomorrow we‘ll be watching the Ep „be right back“ and I am quite excited xD went here to analyze the ep a bit more
Why was that big aas girl in a stroller tho?!?!
Meka Shant'e RIGHT!! Lol😂😂 that was my first thought
She looked like 5. Please tell her mom she can walk 10 minutes to the playground on her own 😭
i think it was a foreshadow to the moms over controlling ways
That’s what’s I wanted to know too. It was the only thing I could think of in the opening minutes
Lol I wanted to be carried in a stroller until I was 8 or 9. My mom was embarrassed
The mom 100% didn't give her *the talk*
Exactly. She failed there and was too over protective.
The daughter was an imbecile the entire episode tbh the drug use, dating a drug dealer, getting pregnant, beating her mom half to death then just leaving without calling an ambulance and hitchhiking with random men as a young woman at the end was so stupid I just cannot root for her the mom went about things the wrong way sure but I can’t blame her for not wanting her daughters life to be ruined by that one guy
All this talk about Oedipus and the mother sleeping with her patient made me think that you were going to say that Sara ended up banging her father on accident in the end (as in the truck driver was her dad).
There's only going to be 3 episodes in SEASON 5!!!!!
HereIsWisdom 1318 i really hope it’s quality of quantity on a major scale
Aleida Garcia It’s gotta be-on a MAJOR SCALE!
HereIsWisdom 1318 in this day and age perfect don’t think ppl could take much more 😂😂😂
We did get a movie in December and the new ones will probably be longer. Charlie Brooker said in one interview that they take decent time and each is like its own movie. So the quality of these will probably be amazing. They were pushed back on their release from earlier in the year so they could be perfect.
I'd love for you to analyze White Christmas!
Hope you don't mind waiting for the holiday season this year!
The soundtrack of this episode made the episode for me. Story was great too, but damn the piano. Rewatch it and realize how damn good it was
I didnt even realize the mom slept with the already married patient holy cow
The most important thing every parent needs to take away from this episode is to freaking talk with your children, make them feel safe enough to want to ask you hard questions about any topic or about anything in life. That’s the meaning of life to learn and grow whether it’s through experiences, challenges and lessons. I realized that with my own 11 year old and when she told me she had a boyfriend, I was calm and she was completely shocked but that let her guard down and she’s excited to share so many things. When she asks me things I make sure to ask what she already knows first so we can go from there and make it age appropriate. ❤ and the boyfriend was very short lived, they were so shy to even really speak to each other thank goodness 😂
Now that's how to be a good and sensible parent. Loved the ending. 😂
The fact that she made he drink contraceptives without her knowledge is beyond crossing the line.
did anyone else notice how even though all the tech was super advanced bc this is obviously in the future, when sara calls trick it says "voice mailbox is full" like its only 2021 now and nobody uses voicemail anymore they def dont use it in a time where you can literally see through someones eyes on a screen
