Actually, I'm eating all these foods here in large amounts, nevertheless my prostate is already quite large at 53 ml at age 44. But I have also consumed large amounts of dairy products and grains all my life, since I used to be a vegetarian. Started an experiment now by cutting out all dairy and going low carb. Will have my prostate volume regularly checked and see if anything changes for the better.
The video is very good and the advice will definitely help, but the two most important factors that have almost overwhelming control are: 1) your genetics and, 2) your endocrine system (hormones). Yes, you will definitely have to try and reverse the influence of all the dairy you consumed. Be very careful with the fats you consume, however, since you mentioned "low carb". There is nothing wrong with carbs and they are essential -- it's the type of carbs that matter. Refined carbs are the enemy, not complex carbs as nature made them -- fresh vegetables, for example.
@@rockhound_rick Hi Richard, you're absolutely right. By low carbs I don't mean a ketogenic diet, but I will cut out all refined sugar, honey, fruit with high glycaemic index, etc. I will keep consuming lots of vegetables with rather low starch content. I have a genetic predisposition towards prostate hyperplasia, which means all my efforts might not lead to any improvement. Nevertheless, I'll give it a try. Thanks for your thoughts!
@@christophdenner8878 You bet! I'm in the same boat, too. But so far I've done alright and I'm in my mid-sixties. I take care of my elderly father, who will be 93 this year. He has suffered from BPH for a long time, but amazingly has had no other complications such as prostate cancer. He had the Rezume procedure performed a couple of years ago in the doctor's office, and it helped a bit. I give him many daily supplements for his health. Unfortunately I had to stop giving him lycopene because of its effects on his potassium level and kidneys. One thing that the video did not mention, surprisingly, is Saw Palmetto extract. It no longer helps my dad anymore, but it definitely helps me. It's important to use an extract in gel capsule form, not a pill or capsule containing powder. Also, see the comment below from David L about sunlight and vitamin D. Vitamin D3 is so important to your health -- like zinc is to your prostate gland! I think you're on the right track, take care!
@@rockhound_rick Hi Richard, I see, it seems we're really in a very comparable situation. My father is in his mid 70ies and has severe BPH, to the extent that he had to go to the ER several times already due to urinary retention. I think vitamin D from sunlight is a major factor as my symptoms of an enlarged prostate (need to urinate frequently, unable to properly empty bladder) are much more pronounced in the winter months and are noticeably diminished in the summer. This may also explain why black men have a higher incidence of prostate cancer as their skin requires more sunlight to absorb vitamin D.
I have experienced the same thing, an excellent point, thank you! I am careful with the sun and it is critical to my good health. It is amazing how much of an influence it has! I have known this for a long time. Like everything else, moderation is key and you just have to use some common sense!
Be careful of assuming correlation equals causation. Vit. D is good, but it's also possible that an additional or alternate factors is that in the summer you probably get more exercise than in the winter, and perhaps eat more fresh vegetables. Studies show that both are helpful with BPH symptoms.
