This is one of my Favorite songs Ever! What a Tribute to her Parents, Everlasting Love, Family and Happy Endings. Thank You, Carly, for all the times you have transported me to Joy!

This was a GREAT album. And I love this song - great love story for her parents.
Here's another example off her class she ended this video with a bow from her toddler years and that giggle. But the class act from a time long forgotten of showing her appreciation to the audience. Any young lady's just starting out take a page out of o e of the greats play book show your audience the respect they show you what a class act Carley

I have always loved this song. Carly has such a beautiful voice. I wish she would tour Australia, but I know she has a fear of flying which is why she has never really toured overseas (to my knowledge). This is a timeless classic.

Carly's mother had a long affair with Ronnie, her live-in lover who undoubtedly contributed greatly to her father's demise. Ronnie was 19, her mother in her early forties when they met. This song is how Carly wished it had gone. Read her autobiography.

A favorite song of mine.
Too bad this album didn't go any where. There are a lot of quality songs on it (like all of Carly's albums). This album was the first cd I had ever purchased.....I didn't know which side to play - hahahahahaha.

There are a lot of people that just do not get the gist of Carly Simon's songs like this one, as I feel all , are from the heart, but so many people just want bish bash and loud "music" her songs are from her heart and soul, and all have meaning and quality..Not like the meaningless noise produced by nobodies today just for the fame and fortune!!

I've always loved how Carly's mother was open about her bi racial ancestry, the fact that her mother was Jewish and her father was of African descent! She came from Spain which was very racist in those days ( still is) But, people didn't make and issue out of it the way they do in the states. She called herself part Moor, which is really what people of African descent are, Nubians, (Moors was given name to the African people which dominated what is now called Spain in centuries past, as it once belonged to Africa! This is another reason why racism is so ridiculous, as no one on this earth has any form of ''pure blood''! lol

If folks paid attention they will be a lot more amazed on how many white people are walking around with biracial / black maternal or paternal parents as well as full blooded grandparents of African descent.
Correction: her father was Jewish - not her mother. And her mother was of African descent. It's the other way round!

@@MrBrakebeam Yea and you'd be surprised how many ( African Americans ) are walking around with about 25 to 50 percent white blood and claim they hate white folks so 8 guess they hate there self's. Who knows
@@MikeSmith-cn6ub I don't think the concept of hating oneself if you're black because you have a percentage of white blood in you is even applicable. Acquiring that part of your genetic makeup was not by our voluntary choice to say the least I think I'm consciously a lot of black people are somewhat fascinated with the fact that they may have everything other than African blood in them because of psychological colonization. Deep down inside a lot of Black Folk will subscribe to eurocentric Dynamics before African. But my thing is how many white people are walking around in this Society with covert contempt for anything black but not even knowing that their grandma was biracial black but passing for white. Or even a great-grandparent who was full-blooded black. But I think a lot more than we think when they look in the mirror over. Their life, would at least arise questions based on there alteration of skin color versus pheno typical features
Bittersweet song. As a piece of music, it is a terrific story song. But the reality is the story if fiction; the marriage was not happy and she had an affair.

Taylor Swift is a Big Carly Simon fan (as am I). The only things I recall that disappointed me about T.S. is an old lyric I think sounded homophobic, and I think she signals to young fans to seek revenge on those who treated you badly, which I think could end up with danger.
And in real life, Carly's dad would do horrible pranks to her because of her looks. Meanwhile, Carly's mother was having an affair, and on the night her husband died of a fatal heart attack, Mrs. Simon was rolling in the bed sheets with her lover down the hall and could be bothered to assist her husband as he cried for help.
Yeah, a real loving family.
