At 82 years old one might think that this "old guy" cannot experience the feedings that this song brings back to my memories. The "white nights" that me and a lovely young lady experienced in the 70's. I still feel the passion.
I'm two more years older, and once in a while when envision those passions and images of my white nights in the 70's with that lovely woman who was 14 years my junior, the feelings will never go away. I am a true romantic and the wrinkles on my face do not stand in the way of memories. Thanks for your thoughts

This should have won Best Video of the Year, the song topping the charts. (I never heard it till last year. Another great statement on the music industry.) The pain caused by an affair - to everyone; but in this video, the least to the man. The pearls dropping towards the end, her white chair ... they speak volumes only Carly can sing. Thank you for posting something so poignant and perfectly done. (P.S. To paraphrase one rock icon, "Give the guitar player some." Superb playing by Mr. Jay Berliner.)
I'm not so sure it was an affair. She might be an ex, saying this to her former boyfriend, and still her love. They broke up, and she still loves him. They may run in some of the same circles, and she does not want trouble with his current, possibly in fear of losing all contact with the man. I would HOPE the man is smart enough to not put initials of an affair in his diary... but a then-gf, yes.

Worked for a radio station one summer and I had to work the board early on Sundays to broadcast the church service. I'd get everything prepared, then crank BETTER NOT TELL ME on the program speakers in the studio- just me at 6am. It was my blood pumping jam. And yeah, I've briefly met Carly on the vineyard - it's hard not to, she's a local...and tall 😊 Say your hi and move on. Miss the Boogies at the AC on Thursday nights in ob. One of the most talented singers/songwriters ever! Compared to today's so-called "stars (Lady Gaga, 50- Cent, etc.) she is light years ahead. Carly's music is still being played 25- 35 years later. Think most of today's "artists" will have their stuff played decades later?
