People in the 80's were truly genuine. Simple times , true love and family's were so close. There will never be another time like it. I am glad I was a part of it. Thank You Hashem for making me in the 80s
This song gave her the Grammy nom for Best Female Vocal Performance in 1988. It was no contest because Whitney won with 'I Wanna Dance With Somebody" but this had to be the runner up.
Revisiting her videos - gives a whole new appreciation to how amazingly talented she was with a stunning unique voice and skill as a song writer ... maybe because no one else has come along in all these years that can fill the void she left behind.
Yes! I'm going to be 42 next month and remember hearing her music growing up, but never really payed much attention until now. It's funny how age and wisdom make you look at the same things in a different light
i just turned 43 a week ago, and this song randomly popped into my head and i had to listen to it again! It is a remarkably beautiful song, and indeed, they sure don't release music like this anymore. I remember getting ready for school while Mom got ready for work and hearing this on the stereo along with other awesome 80's songs like "broken wings" (mister miser) or "Caught up in the rapture" (Anita Baker).
My Mom died 9 years ago. She loved this song. This morning I woke up with this song in my head out of nowhere and I haven't heard it since I was a child. Miss you Momma.
I also came because my Mum used to play it a lot when I was a kid, and I hadn't heard it in years. She died a year ago too. Your Mum lives on through you :)
Takes me back to 1987. My Mum and Dad had broken up the year previous. Life went on. I was 13 years old. This song came on the radio yesterday and it took me back all those years ago and I just felt sad. I’m nearly 50 now, very happy in life with a beautiful wife and son. So how does such a sad feeling come over me hearing a song from 37 years ago?
Because this song is clearly about breaking up and trying again. It is sad that people break up at all and have to try again after making a lifetime commitment. And Carly is so richly melancholy in this song; it is a very melancholy situation 😒 laced with a little bit of hope. I am in my second marriage and this song makes me both sad... and glad.
Secondo me più che tristezza è nostalgia, ricordi di un tempo andato che si vorrebbe fermare, perché ti fa' rivivere momenti belli o brutti, ma no, non si può
I was a kid in the 80s but with one exception: my mom and dad was into music big time so I got to appreciate all that 80s music at an early age. I also got to stay up late on Friday night and watch Friday Night Videos on NBC with my mom. I knew all that music and it was great.
Vocês não sabem o quanto eu fico feliz em ver comentários brasileiros e ainda mais de jovens como eu que tem uma estranha sensação que viveu nessa época.❤️
Everytime I hear this song I cry my eyeballs out. Going straight back to the 80s where mum and dad are still alive and other familiy members who died way to young. I see my parental house so vivid before my eyes, dancing with mum and my sister. Cuddle with dad and make funny jokes. Just a simple and happy life. I miss that, I miss my parents so so so much 💔 It’s just a beautiful song and painful at the same time 😭

An amazing song in an amazing decade amongst many amazing decades where the bar for quality went higher and higher. As opposed to the regression we have now.
Warms my heart when I hear this as it takes me back in time, when everything seemed better cooler and more love than hate. A time where we were young and innocent. ♥️
Everytime I listen to this song I remember my father. He cared about us all by himself. I remember all my childhood with my brothers . What a good time we had together!!! R.I.P DAD, I LOVE YOU SO MUCH!
When a Dad loves you its one of best earthly feelings you will ever have for life. Then when Dad passes on those memories will be clear cherished memories. I miss Dad so very much since September 3 1976.
heard this song after a loooooooooooong time in a small cafe today. The mood of the song was so fitting of the cafe's ambience and brought back many memories for me. They don't make songs like this anymore.
Amazing voice, legendary singer and what an amazing song. Makes me so nostalgic of those times, the lyrics and the memories of the time when I heard it first, 80s. Amazing music, amazing era and amazing memories. Thank you Carly for a great song that brings back so much past and so much beauty from that past.

Such perfect diction. I can understand every word. That has been a huge change in the last 30 years for male and female artists. Nowadays I need the lyric sheet to understand what they are singing

Will she be almost 80yo? You're right time flies by and we don't realise how precious it is a lot of the time. Music is good for reminding us of times in our lives.
@@ijustwanthnkandaotcharacte9751 Carly's dad, Richard Simon, was a publisher and the co-founder of the publishing house, Simon and Schuster. He stayed extremely busy with the business. He was known as a pioneer of marketing, merchandising, advertising and promotion . He retired after two heart attacks and died relatively early at the age of 61.
I remember being 8,I'm 39 now and my mom playing this every morning while waking up my sister and I for school. Now,Idk why TikTok and RUclips focus views on bad vibes, but 80s babies had the honor of living through those feelings and smells that take u back.
Same girl!! Im 41. Have an 11y/o. It’s funny how we forget about these songs and then we hear them and it strikes such a cord. It’s some thing we can’t even explain to our children because it’s just a different time. This song is so good. Everything about it sounds different now that I’m older because I relate so much harder. It’s so good it hurts❤️💯✌🏽

As a preteen in the 90s, this was one of those soft songs I secretly loved but wouldn't tell people I listened to it. As a 36 year old in 2021 I rock it proudly and don't give a fuck
I hear you! Her music, along with Air Supply and Dan Fogelberg. I'm sure there are others I would have been embarrassed about then, but don't care now if others know!
I am listening to this at 1:11 on the 30/06/2024(she would have been 70 on the 29th) the morning after my mum’s birthday, she sadly passed on the 31st of October 2023 from a heart attack very sudden and completely unexpected I am still completely broken for this but mum used to play this to me when I was a baby and at the grand age of 39 I still remember it! It makes me both happy and sad all at the same time!!!!
What happened to music and movies in general?... the soul seems so missing thesedays. Too much realism. What these artists understood is you have to carve a space in the music that is unresolved. If music doesn't do that, I wouldn't call it music it's just sound.
Wow! Beautiful, talented Carl! I can't help but wonder if she fully realised just how beautiful and talented she really is. How could anyone listen to this gorgeous vocalist and lady and give it a thumbs down. WOW! Lovely lady.

That's when some of us were young, before the cocaine hit the US shores, before the cartels, endless wars, etc.. Yeah, I miss it too. Wasn't perfect but it was better.
I love this song so much...makes me cry every time I hear it. It’s so true. Relationships have there ups and downs and if you ever loved your mate, it never truly dies and it does come around again. The flame may seem only an ember but the winds of time will breath life into it and it will become a flame once again if we stick with it.... I guess it’s just another aspect of the human condition and many do not have the patience to wait it out. I too have been there. Love is supposed to be patient and kind but we get caught up in wanting everything our way and wanting it now and the greener grass looks so much better. Your music was the soundtrack of my school years in the 70’s. . ...much love and admiration, Carly 💖💖💖.
Truly as you say, relations have ups and downs; but love will still coming around again; you just have to be patient. This I believe after 42 years of marriage ; yes I do believe in love. I'm a great admirer of Carly, since she was a great voice of my younger days ; all of her songs I like, but probably this is my favorite.
This was beautifully written. Thank you, it gives me hope. I was in love with someone who I believed loved me, too, but he can’t be his true self due to family, religion, etc. Heartbreaking, but it will come around again for me, whether it’s with him or someone else.

I feel ya, bro. I was born in 80. They were the most idyllic, simple, and optimistic times. As a child living in the Middle East around 1987, I can remember riding in my dad's car through a vast desert, the sun setting, my mom's cassette of this coming through the speakers, and feeling like the moment was going on forever. I'm a tatted-up 42-year-old now, a fan of 100s of 1000s of different songs from across endless genres, and sometimes I wander back into this nostalgic space to feel safe and hopeful again. Especially in the crazy world, life, and time of the modern era.

Agree 🙌
True story
One old song can bring you back to one specific memory of a person or place and sometimes it can be bittersweet.
Anyone out there just thinks it’s an amazing love song ??? 2024 miss these 80s classics!!
An amazing song in an amazing decade amongst many amazing decades where the bar for quality went higher and higher. As opposed to the regression we have now.
How can you miss them/this? It’s right here❣️
Warms my heart when I hear this as it takes me back in time, when everything seemed better cooler and more love than hate. A time where we were young and innocent. ♥️
❤
Hi dear, how are you doing ,how is the weather treating you?
Everytime I listen to this song I remember my father. He cared about us all by himself. I remember all my childhood with my brothers . What a good time we had together!!!
R.I.P DAD, I LOVE YOU SO MUCH!
R.I.P your daddy, Annita!
🙏
Reminds me of my dad also, the tears start coming down
Oh man... Sounds like such a hero!
When a Dad loves you its one of best earthly feelings you will ever have for life. Then when Dad passes on those memories will be clear cherished memories. I miss Dad so very much since September 3 1976.
This is one of those songs from my childhood that evokes such a gentle bittersweet nostalgia I always get a little teary when I hear it.
Quanti ricordi..❤❤
For no reason whatsoever the melody to this decided to haunt my thoughts this week, so here I am. Such a classic, beautiful song. Timeless ❤
me too! It appeared in a dream of mine at random
This turned out to be her last major UK hit single (in February/March 1987),nearly four-and-a-half years after her previous big one,Why.
Es muy extraño pero hoy me paso lo mismo 😢
heard this song after a loooooooooooong time in a small cafe today. The mood of the song was so fitting of the cafe's ambience and brought back many memories for me. They don't make songs like this anymore.
No they don’t….sadly…
Not anymore... :(
Yea,you can say that again mate 🇬🇸
It's souffle burning good, that's for sure.
They don't make life like this anymore
Absolute classic!

Absolutely love this song by Carly Simon. Brilliant sound from an incredible singer. "It's Coming Around Again!"
Nasci exatamente em 1980, passei minha infância, adolescência, juventude e agora na fase adulta ouvindo essas relíquias, continuarei ouvindo enquanto Deus me permitir. Grata!!!!

Such perfect diction. I can understand every word. That has been a huge change in the last 30 years for male and female artists. Nowadays I need the lyric sheet to understand what they are singing
Well part of aging IS hearing loss...

ABBA songs are pronounced so well considering they are Swedish

Memories of going to see my mum in work in autumn 1987.
She had the radio cassette player on playing this song.
I'd bought a new cassette and stuck it in and recorded it.
RIP Mum, I hope you're okay now, love Euan XX.
Remember this song in the UK charts in the spring of 1987.
This song reminds me of my care-free childhood and especially my mum as well....DEAR GOD, I MISS HER!,,,

Baby sneezes
Mummy pleases
Daddy breezes in
So good on paper
So romantic
But so bewildering
I know nothing stays the same
But if you're willing to play the game
It's coming around again
So don't mind if I fall apart
There's more room in a broken heart
You pay the grocer
You fix the toaster
Kiss the host good-bye
Then you break a window
Burn the soufflé?
Scream the lullaby
I know nothing stays the same
But if you're willing to play the game
It's coming around again
So don't mind if I fall apart
There's more room in a broken heart
And I believe in love
But what else can I do
I'm so in love with you
I know nothing stays the same
But if you're willing to play the game
It will be coming around again
Baby sneezes (I believe in love)
Mummy pleases (I believe in love)
Daddy breezes in (I believe in love)
I know nothing stays the same (I believe in love)
But if you're willing to play the game (I believe in love)
It will be coming around again (I believe in love)
I do believe
I do believe (I believe in love)
I believe in love (I believe in love)
I believe in love (I believe in love)
Coming around again
Coming around again
Nothing stays the same (I believe in love)
But if you're willing to play the game (I believe in love)
It will be coming around again (I believe in love)
Oh, I believe in love (I believe in love)
Oh, I believe in love (I believe in love)
And it's coming around again (I believe in love)

It's crazy to see Carly so young in the home movies, as a grown woman in the music video and now almost 80 years old. It goes by so quickly.
...TOO quickly...if only it could all slow down.
Like Kenny Chesney said, don't blink.
You think you have time- you don’t
@@kojoyeboah7 yep- very appropriate lyrics.
Couldn't have said it better
Will she be almost 80yo? You're right time flies by and we don't realise how precious it is a lot of the time. Music is good for reminding us of times in our lives.
How can you not love that song and particularly the old film footage. 3:31 - Beautiful!
0:19 "Mommy pleases. Daddy breezes in." So much meaning in so few words.
Yah ..hits home
what does that line mean?
it probably means the dad isn’t in the child’s life consistently 😢 x x x x
@@ijustwanthnkandaotcharacte9751 Carly's dad, Richard Simon, was a publisher and the co-founder of the publishing house, Simon and Schuster. He stayed extremely busy with the business. This is a BEAUTIFUL song. Thanks Carly!
I remember being 8,I'm 39 now and my mom playing this every morning while waking up my sister and I for school. Now,Idk why TikTok and RUclips focus views on bad vibes, but 80s babies had the honor of living through those feelings and smells that take u back.
What a lovely way to get the kids in gear!
Tik tok is dumbing down the new generation.
Same girl!!
My mum loved this song and would sing along when it came on the radio, really song but makes me sad at how life is now...nothing does stay the same
@@MaggieDeSantosI haven't heard this song in 30 years maybe but the tune is from a distant childhood. Once I heard the tune from tiktok, I could recall most of it and had to search for it on RUclips
CARLY SIMON still is one of the greatest female singers of all time.
Well said 😀
They don’t make them like this anymore
She was married to James Taylor
@@josephgarcia6102 Yeah, the naughty little Jewish girl who had a thing for long haired singer-songwriters who drove a beat up pick-up truck. Chicks are funny that way.

The music. The lyrics. The songstress. ❤
superlative in all aspects.
Jacob Brackman wrote the lyrics with Carly Simon; they met as counselors at summer camp in the Berkshires and were collaborators on many of her songs.
I forgot how relaxing that song is. She was simply gorgeous.
You aren't even kidding she is ,
I think that Carly Simon is such a down to earth person who exudes love in her music. She is beautiful!
Yes she is a jew sister god bless all the children of zion from my heart oliverio zamora.
Stop identity politics! She is a super talented singer!
Totally agree and I she just exudes joy when she performs.
Carly is a beautiful woman who has a classic voice with lots of soul and emotion.
As a preteen in the 90s, this was one of those soft songs I secretly loved but wouldn't tell people I listened to it.
As a 36 year old in 2021 I rock it proudly and don't give a fuck
same here JPMcFly1985!! I hear you.
I secretly loved it as a teen in the 00’s.
As a kid from the 70’s,I loved it too!!
I hear you! Her music, along with Air Supply and Dan Fogelberg. I'm sure there are others I would have been embarrassed about then, but don't care now if others know!
Way to go. Respect !!

The current song reflects today's soullessness. The depth of old lyrics and arrangements is unmatched. From Düsseldorf.
Ancient from our music ancestors
What happened to music and movies in general?... the soul seems so missing thesedays. Too much realism. What these artists understood is you have to carve a space in the music that is unresolved.
If music doesn't do that, I wouldn't call it music it's just sound.
And today's pointlessness and bullshit. But then all decent artists show is that. 80s forever.
And from Louisiana.
I agree. Spanien
my father loved this song, and today after a year and a few months of his departure I came to listen, daddy I love you
😥
Wow! Beautiful, talented Carl! I can't help but wonder if she fully realised just how beautiful and talented she really is. How could anyone listen to this gorgeous vocalist and lady and give it a thumbs down. WOW! Lovely lady.
As I always say... Music is the closest thing we have to a time machine. Period
I dare to say that music that moves you can be your own religious experience, hold the religion.
And that's why songwriters make millions with writing songs! They are able to bring back memories and let us relive beautiful forgotten moments!
Well said....and the list keeps getting longer and longer as time goes by.

Oscar winner Carly SImon is one of those rare precious gifts to Music...Absolutely beautiful......great song that only she could have pulled off
Such a genuinely sweet song. Much needed at the moment.
Hi dear, how are you doing ,how is the weather treating you?
This was beautifully written. Thank you, it gives me hope. I was in love with someone who I believed loved me, too, but he can’t be his true self due to family, religion, etc. Heartbreaking, but it will come around again for me, whether it’s with him or someone else.

Agree so much
@Benjamin Jobes - The '80s were so much simpler because you were a kid. They were very complicated and stressful times for adults.
Verdade marcou minha infancia
I feel ya, bro. I was born in 80. They were the most idyllic, simple, and optimistic times. As a child living in the Middle East around 1987, I can remember riding in my dad's car through a vast desert, the sun setting, my mom's cassette of this coming through the speakers, and feeling like the moment was going on forever. I'm a tatted-up 42-year-old now, a fan of 100s of 1000s of different songs from across endless genres, and sometimes I wander back into this nostalgic space to feel safe and hopeful again. Especially in the crazy world, life, and time of the modern era.
@Peyton Bowen great comment! I find music is normally about memories and feelings. I don't know why but this particular song just got me.
