I'm looking forward to the upcoming Emperor's Children minis. I'm fond of purple and have used it on Marines, Battle Sisters and Eldar. Some Noise Marines will be super fun to paint.
I love watching Miniscape, so seeing more Oldhammer is fantastic! You're currently one of my go-to channels to put on in the background while I paint, feels like it's less of a solo hobby then. Can't wait to see more
For me the way that Shinash is always been described as the bringer a pleasure and pain . You’re talking about a really really, really really heavy S&M vibe
Woohoo, always great to see some old minis getting some love. While the newer sculpts are always cool I have a real soft spot for seeing the old metal minis getting some love from modern painting techniques
Another thing that comes to mind is in all of the lore slash is also considered to be the God of the seven deadly sins. so you have greed gluttony that kind of thing vanity so having a clean marine is not unheard of they like to take care of their amor and gold is good in slash’s eyes, considering God was burst into existence by the excess of the Elder
Very cool, I know it's not the paint scheme you were going for, but I think this mini in particular would have looked really good with glossy black eyes.
Having painted a few old school Chaos Renegades precision, vibrancy, and characterful color schemes will be your friends. And Slaanesh worshipers have a lot more pastels so you can apply all your lessons with pink here to potentially every other color.
I was digging through my bits box and found a space marine command squad in old hammer metal. I’ve been working my way through them slowly one at a time.
I joined late to the hobby so I never really grew an attachment to the retro models. But damn for an old model it looks really good! Wanna see more of this series too
I always loved the noise marines as a concept, and for a long time, it felt like that was the main defining thing for Slaanesh. But where the other factions gained a bit of depth, the noise marine thing felt a bit one note. I think part of that was that the daemons were much more integrated into early 40K, and mutations were part of _all_ Chaos armies. They even made a mutations sprue! Or, they were specifically for Fabius Bile and his creations (which also had rules too at one stage I believe). So I'm glad that GW let their creators have fun with the daemons in the early 2000s. It's a shame it didn't last for the next revision, but hot damn did they get it right with Fulgrim! Do you like the new Fulgrim? I personally love the sculpt, especially the slick tail, but _especially_ the spread open, pierced and plugged cloaca. They gave Fulgrim a proper Slaanussy! And I love the choice of head sculpts too. It gives everybody something to work with, depending on the style they want their Fulgrim to have. I with more modern kits came with as many options!
In my hearts of hearts you will remain "the Quar guy", but if you have to do 40k stuff, then old minis or kitbashes is what I'd like to see. It is interesting and different enough to actually be fun to watch, and get some inspiration from.
would you be interrestet in "rebuiling" the oldschool rouge trader chaos marines? so as a kitbbash. and not only the four, but also the more obscure ones?
Have you tried to sculpt your own models? I've been trying to relearn 3D modeling. I want to make my own armies, my really really own armies. One idea is to try and replicate the old skewl minis from pictures into my modern interpretations. This sculpt is easily one of my favorites of all times.
I fully understand and to an extent agree with the decision on GW's part to unify the Chaos Space Marine aesthetic the way they did. Nonetheless, I lament the loss of the organic, individualized, characterful models from early CSM. It really underscored the sense that these were marines who were touched by the Warp. From what I've discovered in my research, not many third party manufacturers emulate this old style of CSM. Only Knightmare Miniatures and Diehard Miniatures put out models that evoke that aesthetic, that I know of. And both of them produce only a bare handful such sculpts, compared to the wider selection of other products, including old school fantasy Chaos Warriors. (Though on that subject, one could potentially kitbash the fantasy ones with backpacks and guns, if you really wanted more variety).
For me the way that Shinash is always been described as the bringer a pleasure and pain . You’re talking about a really really, really really heavy S&M vibe
Please do not use the term "bubblegum pink" when describing slaanesh ever again, thank you
(Amazing video 🩷)
"KHAKI" Scared the shit outta me.
Retro stuff is peak, I’m excited for this series

Love Miniscape's chaos stuff, and I've recently started watching Anvil of Doom. Nice to see more potential retro mini content in my feed!
That came out super good :3. The old minis had some charm.
Love that retro stuff. I remember the Rogue Trader days.

Excited for this series, love how the backpack came out!
Cool series. Will be tuning in and watching more.
That flock green and sky blue outro is so 80s 40K. Do the Plague Marines next, I had a unit of 10 so it'll be good to see em again
I'll try my best! the old school nurgle stuff is kinda hard to get ya mits on...
@MishMashPainting it's a pain in the arse, I managed to land my 10 for £55 on Ebay like 10 years ago, so good luck
This has very quickly become one of my favorite channels, i think ive watched most of your backlog too.

That shouted KHAKI woke me tf up lol
Very nice!
I'd like to use the older Chaos Space Marine kit so I could kitbash them into Nurgle-corrupted Blood Angels
absolutely garish, keep up the good work :)
Amazing paint job mucker. My only question is: why no goblin green base? 😢
Could you ever do a blood angels ? I love the old bright red schemes in fact I just did one from the old devastator marines even tho there more modern
would you be interrestet in "rebuiling" the oldschool rouge trader chaos marines? so as a kitbbash. and not only the four, but also the more obscure ones?
I enjoyed the KHAKI jumpscares.
A base coat of pure magenta or red made then getting a solid coat of pink easier for me last I tried.
Man I hope they bring back the leather leg and glove. I'm totally down for this series by the way.
THE DARK PRINCE IS PLEASED
Ooooo I like this series already

EMPERORS CHILDREN!!!!!
I'm not particularly a fan of the old models but I respect them for their historical value and who doesn't like some retro love.
Retro TSons next, please!
He is the best of the original 4

You're never gonna see me not asking for more oldhammer content. I'm literally painting a Rogue Trader Bloodcrusher as I type this comment :P
LET'S GOOOOOOO
KHAKI
I think most wargame painters don't ever paint pink so it doesn't come up in conversations, plus for yellow painters it's the PTSD lol.
Ah yes, my favorite paint
S u n s t o l B l o o n
Is that an actual Rogue Trader era mini, or one from the made-to-order reissue in 2023?
Yippie
